AT&T Digital Life Not Just a Home Security System

AT&T does not only offer telecommunication services, but also home security and home automation services.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/12/2014 -- The AT&T Digital Life service has been commonly misunderstood as strictly AT&T's home security department, but they also offer "smart home" or automation services in addition to the security option.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) reviews home security companies and has found that consumers are misguided when it comes to what AT&T Digital Life actually offers.

"Consumers can order just home security from AT&T Digital Life, but there are other options available to upgrade your system," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, said. "AT&T Digital Life also includes an automation system that will include access and control from your mobile devices."

For consumers who just want a home security system, AT&T requires you sign a 2-year contract. Up-front costs come out to $149.99 and monthly monitoring charges are $39.99/month.

However, if a consumer wishes to add home automation (to turn their home into a "smart home), up-front costs come out to $299.97 and monthly monitoring charges are increased to $54.97. A 2-year contract is also required with this service.

"Consumers interested in purchasing a home automation system should research and find the right system for their home," McKeon stated. "The AT&T system is easy-to-use, but looking into system and service requirements is advised."

The BHSC experts have researched and analyzed the AT&T Digital Life services.

Link Home Security is also available to those who are not necessarily members of Costco.

Frontpoint Security Reaches over 100 User Reviews on Home Security Review Site

Over 100 real customer reviews were verified and published on the BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com Frontpoint profile.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/06/2014 -- BestHomeSEcurityCompanys.com (BHSC) recently verified and published the 100th real customer review of the Frontpoint home security service.

Frontpoint is a home security provider that has been in business for seven years now and has already made a huge impact in the home security industry. Their attention to the individual customers has set them apart and earned them a positive reputation amongst their clients.

"The BHSC review team puts each review that comes in through an extensive verification process to determine whether or not it is from a real customer of that specific companies," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, stated. "Frontpoint has done a great job of taking are of their customers, which has resulted in over 100 real user reviews being published on their profile."

Out of the 109 published Frontpoint reviews, 75 of them included a glowing "10" numerical score out of a 0-10 scoring range. Only 14 of those reviews received a score of 5 or lower. The overall user score is an 8.5.

"The majority of the user review comments note the efficiency of Frontpoint services and highlight their focus on customer support," McKeon said. "It just goes to show that they care about their customer's experience with them."

Reaching over 100 real customer reviews on an individual company's profile is now small task. In addition, Frontpoint has done it while also receiving high scores from their current customers.

Home Security Companies Overcharging for Monthly Monitoring

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com surveyed consumers to determine how much they were willing to pay for monthly monitoring.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/05/2014 -- Recently, BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) reached out to over 1,000 consumers who were interested in purchasing a home security system to see how much they were willing to spend on monthly monitoring costs.

The survey did not take into consideration equipment, installation, or activation fees. Consumers were only asked what the maximum amount they were willing to spend on monthly monitoring.

"We narrowed down this particular study because we were interested in seeing how much consumers were willing to spend in comparison to how much the majority of companies are charging for home security monitoring," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, said.

Demographics and income levels were chosen at random. Each consumer was asked, "When purchasing a home security system, what is the maximum amount you are willing to spend on monthly monitoring?"

Results of the study were as follows:

1. $1-$19 – 39.2%
2. $20-$29 – 23.4%
3. $30-$39 – 15.9%
4. $40-$49 – 11.5%
5. $50 and above – 10.0%

The overwhelming majority stated that they would spend less than $20 as a maximum for home security monthly monitoring services, while only $21.5 percent said they would be willing to spend more than $40.

"The results were interesting to us because over 50 percent of consumers said they would only spend less than $30, yet the majority of home security companies are charging more than that," McKeon explained. "This survey further demonstrates that if monitoring companies would charge less for their services, there would be many more consumers willing to purchase a home security system."

There are companies that charge less than $20 for monthly monitoring, but there are few in comparison to how many charge $30+.

Americans Living in Apartments Staying Away from Home Security

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) surveyed Americans living in apartments to find out why they have not purchased a home security system.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/23/2014 -- The home security industry is worth billions of dollars, yet there is a market that appears to be avoiding home security systems altogether.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) reached out to over 1,000 Americans living in apartments to determine what contributing factor has kept them from purchasing a home security system.

"There are home security companies that only provide services for home owners for liability purposes," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, stated. "There are still plenty of companies that offer their services whether a person owns the residence or not. Service limits, however, are not the reason consumers living in apartments are enlisting the help of home security services."

According to the survey, nearly 60 percent (57.7%) said the reason they don't have a home security system is because the installation, equipment, and monitoring costs are all too expensive.

"After paying for the equipment to be shipped, installed, and monitored 24/7, many believe the costs are too high," McKeon stated.

The second most common response in the survey for consumers living in apartments was that they do not consider home security systems to be reliable. Survey results showed that 23.7 percent felt that they could not trust a system to keep them safe.

Lastly, 13.4% of consumers polled said that they think a home security system is too complicated while 5.3% said they already have a home security system.

"Cost and trust are the two most common reasons behind renters refusing to purchase a home security system," McKeon said. "Once home security companies can identify factors like these, they will be able to meet the needs of more consumers."

Home Security Survey Finds Americans Do Not Trust Door-to-Door Salesmen

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com conducted a survey to find out if Americans trust door-to-door home security salesman.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/21/2014 -- Door-to-door salesmen have become a common practice for home security companies. Several of them send out thousands and thousands of salesmen each summer to sell their products and equipment.

It is easy to see why the home security companies like this business model. They send out salesmen that they don't pay unless they make a sale. However, the consumer does not seem to like this approach.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) conducted a survey to find out just how Americans feel about the door-to-door home security salesmen.

The survey collected over 1,000 responses from homeowners around the nation. Consumers were asked whether or not they trust door-to-door home security salesmen.

"We see a lot of home security companies turning to this business practice as a way to sell their home security product," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, said. "With so many companies selling door-to-door, we wanted to find out how the consumer felt about this method."

A majority of responders, 43.3% to be exact, said they do not trust door-to-door home security salesmen because they are "too pushy."

The second most common response, bringing in 31.1% of the vote, also said they do not trust door-to-door home security salesmen because they are "just trying to make quick money."

"It was interesting to see just how home owners respond to the door-to-door salesmen approach," McKeon stated. "The overwhelming majority said they do not trust them because the consumers' needs are the main focus. Our survey shows that most Americans feel that home security door-to-door salesmen are more focused on landing the sale than actually protecting a family's home."

On the other side of the spectrum, 19.2% of consumers said that they do not necessarily trust or distrust a door-to-door approach; rather it depends on the actual salesman.

Lastly, only 6.4% of those consumers surveyed said they did trust door-to-door home security salesmen.

"Our purpose for conducting this survey was not to prove whether or not door-to-door home security salesmen are effective," McKeon explained. "We are here to fight for the consumer, so we wanted to see if they trusted this type of business model. It looks like, for the most part, people don't."
"We were interested in finding out how people, who do not own a home security system, protect their homes from intruders," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, said. "We want consumers to be able to effectively protect their home, and if there is a better way to do it, we wanted to know."
The results of the survey were varied, but the most common response was owning a gun. About 15.6% of responders said they own a gun and that is how they protect their home from intruders.

"Many Americans feel that owning a gun is the perfect solution to protecting their home," McKeon explained. "While it may be effective while an individual is at home, having a gun will not do you much good if an intruder breaks in while you are out grocery shopping or on vacation."

The second most common response was "heave-duty" locks. Locking up your home, and all entrances/exists to your home that can be locked, is something everyone should have. Locks decrease your chances of being broken into. However, locks don't protect every gateway to your home.

"Intruders have found ways to get around locks," McKeon stated. "They can break a window or even a door if necessary. There are just too many ways to get around a lock on a door or window."

Other responses include using dogs (8.4%) to protect from intruders.

"All of these solutions are viable and may be effective in some certain situation," McKeon said. "However, none of them are the complete package."

Consumer Perspective on Home Security Installation Revealed

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/25/2014 -- BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com conducted a survey to see what consumers think about the quality of professional install vs. do-it-yourself home security options.

The debate over professional and DIY projects continues to swirl, even in the home security industry.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com was interested in what consumers thought about the quality of professional and do-it-yourself home security systems.

"We are seeing an increasing number of consumers opting for DIY solutions," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, said. "We are seeing the same types of trends in the home security space."

BHSC recently conducted a survey in which over 1,000 consumers were asked whether or not a professionally installed home security system is of better quality than a do-it-yourself home security system.

The results were nearly split down the middle. Out of the 1,000 respondents, 51.5% of consumers said they believed a professionally installed home security system was of better quality, while the other 48.5% believed a DIY system was better.

"We believe there are a couple of different reasons as to why the results are almost evenly split," McKeon explained. "It makes sense as to why people would trust a 'professional' when it comes to installing technological equipment. On the other hand, people know their own homes and where the vulnerabilities are, so installing their own system may seem to make more sense."

To some consumers, it is worth the extra cost to have the system installed quickly and by someone who knows how the system operates.

There are home security companies that offer both DIY and professional install options. Professionally installed equipment will come at a price.

"This is another reason we are seeing more and more consumers prefer the DIY options," McKeon stated. "The consumer gets to place the equipment where they believe it will be most efficient and save money on the installation costs."

Why Americans Are Not Buying Home Security Systems

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com recently conducted a survey and found out the top reasons Americans are not investing in a home security system.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/20/2014 -- The home security market is worth nearly 40 billion dollars. New home security providers pop up every year and the big companies seem to increase their customer-base by thousands each year. However, there are still consumers who do not see the need to have a security or monitoring system installed in their home.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) collected over 1,000 responses nationwide and found the top five reasons consumers are not buying home security systems. The top reason Americans claimed they did not want a home security system was because they did not want to spend the money on something that is not deemed a necessity.

"There are horror stories out there of people having to pay thousands of dollars in equipment, installation, and monthly monitoring fees, which is why we believe this was the top reason consumers do not purchase home security packages," Carlie McKeon, BHSC PR Director, said. "What consumers may not know is that there are options out there that are both affordable and effective. They just need to find the right company."

Making up nearly 38.4% of the total survey, the consumers who do not want to spend the money on a home security system may be onto something. There are companies that will nickel and dime their clients, racking up as many up-front and service charges as they can. Other companies are transparent with how much they charge. The important thing for these clients to know is that there are different providers out on the market who have products that will not break the bank and still protect their home.

"There are several companies that allow consumers to install whatever equipment they want, provide home automation, and allow for personal monitoring from any device that will connect to the Internet," McKeon explained. "Consumers do not have to sign up with companies that charge high installation rates and monitoring fees anymore."

About 32.6% of responders claim that they live somewhere safe and do not need a home security system. While crime rates may be low in a specific area that does not mean crimes never happen.

"While a consumer may live somewhere safe, that does not guarantee they will not fall victim to a break-in," McKeon said. "Having an additional layer of protection is never a bad thing. Why risk losing valuable possessions and peace of mind?"

Other responses include consumers who believe they can protect their home on their own (14.2%), those who do not trust the security system will work (10.8%), and also people who had a negative experience with a home security company in the past (4%).

"Not everyone believes a home security system is a necessity," McKeon stated. "But for those who are worried about costs, technological failures, or do not believe they could ever fall victim to a burglary should look into different home security providers. We just want the consumer to know that they have options, and they are more than likely to find a home security system that fits their situation."

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com Rolls out New Partner Program for Home Security Companies

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) Released a New Partner Program to Provide Free Online Reputation Management Services to Home Security Companies.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/25/2013 -- The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) recently conducted an investigation on unethical online reputation management (ORM) practices. Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman, announced that 19 companies had agreed to cease their practice of writing fake online reviews for businesses and paid $350,000 in penalties as part of the yearlong undercover investigation into the reputation management industry known as "Operation Clean Turf."

The increase in available ORM services, coupled with risky strategies, has lead BHSC to create its own ORM service for home security companies.

"Consumers want real reviews they can trust and they rely on review sites to moderate reviews with accuracy," said Director of Reviews, Robert Siciliano. "We want to provide an experience where consumers know that they are getting objective, honest reviews."

During the last five years, businesses have become increasingly aware of the impact of reviews and are constantly working to collect online testimonials. Recent studies have shown online reviews can impact revenues by as much as five to ten percent. Soaring review values and increased demands from businesses to obtain reviews, have led to the explosion of ORM services.

The increased demand and cutthroat competition has caused some ORM agencies to offer less-than-ethical services. Some red flags to be aware include:

- Companies that claim to suppress or prevent negative reviews, blogs, articles, and press releases.
- Companies that claim to only obtain positive reviews.
- Companies who pay for reviews or testimonials.
- Companies that claim to suppress or remove negative information from sites like RipOffReport.com and PissedConsumer.com

In light of the recent developments in the ORM community, BHSC decided to create and provide a free service that focused on ethical ORM strategies.

"Our community relies on us to paint accurate pictures of home security companies. Our new program isn't concerned with obtaining positive or negative reviews, but rather real reviews," said Siciliano in a recent interview.

The BHSC Rep Builder® program is an extensive program designed to help home security companies build and maintain their reputations both online and offline. The program is broken into four parts, which include:

- Building a reputation
- Acquiring customer reviews
- Sharing customer reviews
- Creating valuable content

Each section of the BHSC Rep Builder Program® focuses on a unique aspect of ORM to create a dynamic reputation for companies. What sets BHSC's Rep Builder® apart from all other programs is it's free cost and thorough understanding of ORM services.

The BHSC Rep Builder® program is open to all home security companies; however, each company must be moderated and approved to be officially enrolled.

"While we'd like to help all home security companies in the industry, not all are a good fit for our program. We are focusing on working with companies who put customers at their core," said Bryan Lovgren, Director of Branding.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com Launches a New Free Crime Radar Tool

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) launches a free crime radar tool to help customers locate crime in their areas.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/22/2013 -- Crime is a problem in this country. According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, violent crime rates have increased for the second straight year, and that's not even the worst part. In 2012, fewer Americans were aware of the rise in crime rates than ever before. Fortunately, there is now a way for Americans to keep tabs on crime in their area and be better protected from the damaging effects.

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) has launched a new tool that will keep Americans informed as it pertains to crime. This free crime radar tool allows BHSC users to view crime details in their neighborhoods and find the method of security that best suits their situation.

"We are in the business of security and in order to help protect people we've got to arm them with powerful information," said Robert Siciliano, Director of Reviews. "Our tool is designed to show people the most current crime data in their area, who committed it, and what crime took place."

The BHSC Crime Radar is an easy-to-use tool that provides viewers with the power to search crime within their city, zip code, or address. The free Crime Radar tool also has search capabilities, meaning users will have the ability to narrow results based on the crime data they are most concerned with.

BHSC Crime Radar customization includes viewing the following police data:

- Homicides
- Breaking & Entering
- Robbery
- Theft
- Theft of Vehicle
- Theft from Vehicle
- Vehicle Recovery
- Sexual Offense and Sexual Assault
- Assault and Assault with Deadly Weapon
- Property Crime for Both Commercial and Residential
- Quality of Life (Disorders, Drugs, Liquor)
- Traffic
- Fire
- Emergency
- Protective Policing
- Sex Offender

"We are particularly excited to provide information and data about sex offenders in local areas across the country," said Robert in a phone interview. "We believe that the public deserves to know all the details about the dangerous crimes committed in their area.

BHSC Crime Radar shows users important information about sex offenders in their area that includes:

- Names
- Addresses
- Race
- Gender
- Height
- Weight
- Eye color
- Hair color
- Age

The Crime Radar tool provides users with the details they need to keep their families safe. The tool enables users to see crime patterns, which allows them to better protect their belongings.

"If theft or assault is a problem in an area, our users will be able to see that and remain better protected than those who don't have that same information," Siciliano stated.

The BHSC expert staff hopes that the Crime Radar tool will provide the information users need in order to stay informed about crime in their community, while also assisting in their efforts to effectively protect their loved ones and their home.

"We want our users to rest assured that their home is properly secured and protected from the crime that surrounds them," Siciliano explained. "Our job is to make sure people have all of the information they need to make an informed decision regarding home security."

BHSC Looks Into Home Security Hidden Fees

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com is an industry leading home security review site that tirelessly works to provide information that will benefit customers looking to purchase a home security system. The BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com expert staff has conducted research and found hidden costs associated with many home security products and services.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/02/2013 -- BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) conducts extensive research in an effort to benefit home security customers. During this research process, the BHSC experts found that there are many home security companies that advertise a low monthly price, but do not convey the hidden fees associated with the full functionality of their products and services.

"Customers are always concerned with the price of a service, and these home security companies know that," Robert Siciliano, BHSC Director of Reviews, said. "They want the price of their product to be attractive, which is why we get hidden fees and conditions in this industry. Part of our job is to find out what these extra costs are and provide a clear financial picture for those who visit our site."

While a home security will advertise a "low monthly cost," very rarely will they include the costs associated with the set-up of the system or other requirements necessary for the system to function properly. For example, a home security system that tells customers their service is $29.99/month, but does not necessarily inform consumers of the lengthy contract or mandatory subscription to one of their TV, internet, or phone services.

"The monthly costs are often times misleading," Siciliano stated. "In reality, it is going to cost a customer more each month to keep their home security system running because they are required to have television, internet, or phone services associated with the provider, all of which come with their own monthly fee."

The service costs are not the only things initially "hidden" from the customer. There are terms and conditions a customer must comply with if they wish to have all access to all of the bells and whistles. For instance, there are companies that offer a home security system complete with remote usage, meaning you can control the system with a separate device. What they fail to mention, and list in the fine print, is that customers much have a compatible PC, smartphone, or tablet with access to the internet and/or email. In addition to having a compatible device, a customer will have to pay extra to use the remote feature, as it is not included in the advertised monthly price.

"Companies want to show customers how great a product is, which is why they advertise features that include using your cellphone to control your home security system," Siciliano explained. "What they fail to mention is that those features cost more to have."

BHSC believes that consumers have a right to know about these hidden fees and requirements before purchasing a home security system.

"Home security systems are in the business of making money, while we are in the business of providing consumers with the truth about their products and services," Siciliano said.

Customer Reviews Key to Home Security

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com works to produce a complete picture of the service provided by home security companies. An essential part of the overall home security company profile are the real customer reviews that are submitted.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/23/2013 -- BestHomeSecurityCompany.com (BHSC) is the leader in home security reviews. BHSC has an expert staff that reviews each home security company and combines their score with that of real customers. BHSC provides a forum for customers to share their experiences, positive or negative, with a particular home security company. The customer reviews are a vital piece to the overall usefulness of the website because it can paint a picture of what kind of service a particular home security company may provide for the potential consumer

"The customer reviews are a fundamental component to our reviews," Robert Siciliano, Director of BHSC Reviews, said. "Our experts do all of the research they can and provide quality information to consumers. However, real experiences truly complete the picture. By combining expert research with experience, we feel we are supplying consumers with the best information regarding home security."

Current and former customers of a particular home security company can log onto BHSC and submit a review that will be published on the specific company's profile. The customer reviews allow for individuals to write out their experiences and share their feelings concerning the service they have received, as well as leave a numerical score (1-10) that depicts how well the company conducts their business.

"We felt it was important for customers to have the ability to write out and share their experiences with a home security company because that is information people who are looking to purchase a home security system want," Siciliano explained. "The numerical score that the customer provides is used to calculate a user rating which is a large portion of a company's overall score."

The BHSC expert staff is always working to improve the site in order to better service the consumer. One way of doing that is to compile as many customer reviews as possible to make reviews more thorough and effective.

"We want as many customers as possible to leave reviews because that helps us help the consumer," Siciliano expressed. "If a customer has had a good experience with a home security company, that should be shared.
BHSC Warns Home Security Customers of Contract Lengths

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com is working to inform home security customers about the contract lengths associated with their home security systems. BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com feels it is important for consumers to know before they are locked into an agreement that they may or may not be able to get out of.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/17/2013 -- BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) is a home security review site that works toward providing the consumer with the facts concerning home security services and products. The BHSC expert staff researches each home security company and identifies key service components, such as contract information, and relays it to potential customers.

"If a customer is about to purchase a home security system, they have the right to know how long they will have to continue the service without being penalized," Robert Siciliano, BHSC Director of Reviews, said. "Our expert staff here at BHSC finds that type of information and includes it in a company's review so that there are no surprises after they purchase the home security system."

BHSC has discovered that contract length and opt-out options when it comes to a home security service is a major concern to consumers. Potential customers want to know what the contract entails, how long they are required to have the system, and if there is any way to get out of it if they are not satisfied with the overall performance.

"We have noticed that home security contracts are a cause for pause with many consumers," Siciliano explained. "We find that information and clearly provide it to the consumer so they don't have to worry about any fine print that may be skipped over by a home security salesman."

Throughout the process of identifying this information, the expert staff at BHSC has found companies that have specific contract requirements and service agreements that customers may or may not be aware of. For example, Time Warner Cable offers a home security package that customers are locked into for 18 months and also must subscribe the TWC internet service. While the $39.99/month price may sound attractive initially, consumers have to take into consideration that they also have to pay for an internet service and will have to pay for the service for a full year and a half.

"With some of these contracts, consumers are not allowed out and will have to pay the monthly price for the full time," Siciliano stated. "Before agreeing to anything, we urge consumers to take a look at all of the research we have done on specific companies to make sure they have full disclosure."

About BHSC
BHSC identifies important aspects of each home security company's service and product and then provides an analysis of the overall process. All of the information and data exists to help the consumer and answer any questions or concerns they may have before they purchase anything.

The goal of BHSC is to assist the consumer in their efforts to find a home security system that suits their needs. The BHSC experts have found that contract length and the ability to opt out of a contract is something that consumers are concerned with.

BHSC Dives Into Comcast Xfinity Home Security Fine Print

BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com is a review site that analyzes the home security industry. During the research process, BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com experts discovered information concerning Comcast Xfinity Home Security packages that they felt needed to be shared with consumers.

San Francisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/11/2013 -- BestHomeSecurityCompanys.com (BHSC) is the leading home security review site and provides potential consumers with the information they need before making a buying decision. BHSC consists of an expert staff that objectively reviews home security companies and products, and in turn, relays that information to consumers.

"Our experts are not about 'exposing' home security companies, but instead, work to provide the most accurate information and data possible to benefit consumers," Robert Siciliano, Director of Reviews, said. "When we do find information that we believe a consumer should be aware of, we do not hesitate to inform them. We exist only to help the consumer."

During the research process, BHSC experts discovered key information regarding the Comcast Xfinity Home Security package which requires all of their customers to "bundle" services. This means that consumers can only get the Comcast Xfinity Home Security package when they bundle it with the television and internet services.

"We do not want to undermine the Comcast Xfinity Home Security system, but we felt it was important for consumers to know that they also have to have Comcast Xfinity television and internet services," Siciliano explained.

Comcast Xfinity Home Security generally aims their advertising efforts at current customers (who may already be paying for their television and internet services) with the hopes of "upgrading" them. Since a customer must have Xfinity internet before they can purchase the home security package, BHSC experts felt it was important to notify consumers of what is included in the "fine print."

"There isn't necessarily anything ethically wrong with Comcast Xfinity targeting current customers," Siciliano said. "We just felt like consumers should know the requirements of having a Comcast Xfinity home security system."

BHSC will continue to work to provide all of the information a consumer needs when trying to purchase a home security system.
