Multi-City Tour Kicks off in Time for Veterans Day

Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/04/2013 -- Beginning the day before Veterans Day, the Oregon WWII Memorial Foundation (Memorial Foundation) will kick off a multi-city tour to show off the future centerpiece of the Oregon WWII Memorial. Traveling on a 70-ft semi truck, the spectacular showpiece, a 33-ft, five-sided granite tower, will be erected in June 2014 on the grounds of the state capitol where it will live permanently. The tour's stops and times will be updated daily at the Memorial Foundation's web site: www.oregonwwiimemorial.com

The Memorial's November stops include:

-Nov. 10: 1) 11:30am-1pm Elks Lodge, Forest Grove; 2) 3-4pm Elks Lodge Portland Gateway location

33-ft Granite Obelisk, the Memorial’s Centerpiece, will be on Display for Check Presentation Ceremony

Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2013 -- On Saturday, October 12, at 11:30 a.m., the Oregon State Elks Association will present a check to the Oregon WWII Memorial Foundation (the Foundation) at the Red Lion Inn at 3301 Market Street NE in Salem. The future Memorial's centerpiece, a 33-ft tall granite obelisk, will be on display, making for a dramatic backdrop.

Oregon State Elk's Club president Carl Lino will present the check, a result of funds raised from the statewide sale of lapel pins. More than 200 people from 54 lodges will be present. The check presentation is open to the public.
