Technology Giant Apple Raises Substantial Privacy Issues

Hackers claim to have broken through new i0S 7 software to access personal details of iPhone users

Port Talbot, Wales -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/04/2013 -- Hackers have claimed security flaws in Apples latest software which enables them to access people's phone content.

It's been made apparent that all someone needs to do is to start up the control centre by swiping up from the bottom of the iPhone's lock screen and open the camera application. Whilst the phone is locked hackers will not be able to view anything when the photo application is opened through it. Having said that the intruders could then launch the clock application from the control centre and hold the iPhones power screen lock button till they see slide to power off button at the top and cancel button at the bottom. Hackers then simply tap on the cancel button and quickly press the iPhones home button twice to start up the multitasking menu.

This then enables them to gain access to the users messages, mail, twitter, facebook and flickr accounts via the sharing menu.

Apple are yet to make a statement on this breach due to contending with two separate glitches relating to the new iOS 7 operating system.

DataWipe, Tabernus solution for erasing all iOS devices including iPads, iPhones as well as android and blackberry.

"DataWipe is brilliant," exclaims Dan Dyer, VP of European Operations. "The process is clean and easy to use, and our solution can service high volume users in the market, too."

At Tabernus it's our mission to help cut down the time and costs that's spent preventing breaches from occurring. This includes removing all confidential data from storage devices and providing companies with a peace of mind.

Dublin Company Urges Organisations to Beware when Recycling IT Equipment

Port Talbot, Wales -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/04/2013 -- With the EU proposing punitive fines for breaches of European data laws, a Dublin based Environmental Services Company has teamed up with a global provider of data erasure solutions. The result, they say, is that they can offer IT users in Ireland a data destruction system that allowsthem to be totally confident that sensitive data has been properly destroyed.

Tallaght based Kavanagh Environmental Ltd made the move after hearing a presentation from the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) revealing that an alarming 48% of a sample of 200 second-hand hard drives still contained information with 11% containing information classified as sensitive.

After reviewing the data erasure solutions available company director Eughan Kavanagh opted to become a 'Synergy Partner' with Tabernus. Eughan explains, "Many of the solutions on offer have not been adequately tested or independently audited. Tabernus offer a CESG certified solution", he adds, "which has been tested by Qinetiq, a UK software testing house that undertakes testing for GCHQ."

Nevertheless, Kavanagh also undertook their own testing before opting for Tabernus, citing the local marketing and technical support offer by their new partner as well as the proven data erasure system.

Welcoming Kavanagh's decision, Tabernus director Daniel Dyer commented, "It's great to be working with a forward thinking company like Kavanagh. They are very knowledgeable on the information security risks affecting their clients and want to offer a fool-proof service to deal with those."

Summing up the new tie-up, Eughan added, "We offer our clients a comprehensive IT recycling service. With the EU proposing fines of 2% of a company's global annual turnover for breaching European data laws, we can now offer them the peace of mind that comes with using the world leading data destruction software developed by Tabernus."
