Erin Santos of the Isabella Santos Foundation Has Been Named a February FACE of Charlotte by StyleBlueprint

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/27/2017 -- Erin Santos, the mother of Isabella Santos and one of the founders of the Isabella Santos Foundation, has recently been named a February FACE of Charlotte by the women's magazine StyleBlueprint. This courageous woman was selected as a FACE of Charlotte because she was able to take the heartbreaking loss of her daughter and turn it into something positive, by creating a foundation for children with cancer, to help other children with the disease.

Mrs. Santos and her husband started the foundation back in 2007 when their daughter Isabella was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. The young girl immediately began treatment to contain the disease, while Mr. and Mrs. Santos researched treatment options. They determined her primary care would be transferred to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, a hospital that specializes in neuroblastoma. Although she bravely battled for five years, Isabella succumbed to the disease in 2012.

Over the last decade, the Isabella Santos Foundation has been able to raise over $1.5 million to aid research in the battle against neuroblastoma. Their primary focus is to find a cure for the debilitating disease, which is why they're doing everything they can to speed up the progress that will help find the cure for children everywhere. This children's cancer foundation holds multiple fundraising events throughout the year to not only raise money but to also bring joy to those involved.
Isabella bravely fought the disease, but her battle ended in 2012. She dreamed of a world with no more cancer, and so her loved ones founded this neuroblastoma foundation as a way to help other people fight this illness.
This organization is encouraging runners to join Isabella's Dream Team as a way to help raise money. The team is an endurance running program that helps raise money for the Isabella Santos Foundation while they also train for full and half marathons. It began in 2014 with 25 runners and over the past two years, the number of runners, the amount of funds raised and the team's social media presence have all grown tremendously. They are ready and looking forward to growing even more in 2016 and beyond.

Runners of all levels are welcome to join Isabella's Dream Team. To this day, they have collectively logged over 24,000 miles, conquered more than six full marathons and half marathons and raised more than $147,000 for the Isabella Santos Foundation. The blood drive began in honor of Isabella because her life benefitted from receiving frequent blood transfusions. The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is like family to the Isabella Santos Foundation, and they will never forget their dedication to increasing the quality of Isabella's life.

The Isabella Santos Foundation holds this event because they'd like to celebrate her life by saving lives. They love to see so many wonderful people make this small sacrifice in order to honor Isabella and others who have fought or are fighting cancer and other diseases. Many times, the difference between life and death is the availability of blood products. The more people who donate, the more chance these organizations have of saving a life.

Isabella Santos Foundation Grants Funding to Pediatric Clinical Trial

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/12/2016 -- For several years, the Isabella Santos Foundation has been raising money in support of pediatric cancer research, particularly Neuroblastoma. The foundation was begun in honor and memory of its namesake, Isabella Santos, a young girl who bravely battled Neuroblastoma for most of her life. Through fundraising events like an annual 5K and Fun Run in Charlotte, NC, the Foundation has managed to raise thousands of dollars in support of pediatric cancer research in just a few short years. This month, they are proud to announce that thanks to contributions from hundreds of participants and generous donors, the Foundation is able to grant $200,000 to support funding of a groundbreaking clinical trial.

Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous system, is typically diagnosed when children are very young. The average age of diagnosis is just 18 months. The early onset and aggression of the disease means that many families struggle with these challenging forms of pediatric cancer, and research is direly needed in order to create progressive treatments and, eventually, cure the disease. The clinical trial that the Foundation has funded will take place at Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC, and will offer children with Neuroblastoma a treatment option in the form of a new drug that causes cell death in cancer cells. The existence of this trial gives new hope to children living with Neuroblastoma and their families.

Despite the progress indicated by this trial, there are still miles to go. The Isabella Santos Foundation continues to raise money in support of Neuroblastoma research through events like their annual 5K fundraiser, one of the most popular local 5K runs in Charlotte, NC.
Isabella Santos Foundation Supports the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/08/2016 -- Although the holidays have ended, the spirit of goodwill still pleasantly lingers, and many community members in North Carolina may be asking themselves what they can do to help those in need. One cause always worth supporting is awareness of and research to cure childhood cancer. The Isabella Santos Foundation, one of Charlotte, NC's non-profit organizations, works tirelessly to fight Neuroblastoma in the memory of Isabella Santos, a young girl who battled the disease throughout her short life.

The Isabella Santos Foundation holds an annual blood drive at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. No matter what time of year, however, community members can donate at the Center, which the Isabella Santos Foundation supports year-round.

During her life, Isabella Santos was one of many other children and community members whose treatment was helped by blood donors at the Community Blood Center. Donations at the center help to treat and alleviate the symptoms of other diseases that community members fight every day. Many of these diseases are blood-based or can be treated with blood transfusions, and those in need include those who need transplants, accident victims, children with cancer and sickle cell disease sufferers.

As a community blood bank, the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas ensures that every donation remains at the center. Donors know that by giving blood, they are directly benefiting someone in their community.

In addition to the annual blood drive, the Isabella Santos Foundation holds several other events throughout the year to raise awareness and donations for Neuroblastoma research in Isabella's memory, including an annual fun run in Charlotte.
Non-runners were welcome as well, provided with food and refreshments as they cheered on participants. Other activities included a Kids Fun Run Warm Up, Kid's Zone with games and facepainting and a Silent Auction with fun prizes.

The Isabella Santos Foundation Announces Spring 2015 Event

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2015 -- Looking for a new Easter outfit or wardrobe this spring? The Isabella Santos Foundation, a foundation for children with cancer, is excited to announce that the Lilly Pulitzer – SouthPark Mall store in Charlotte, NC, will be donating a percentage of a customer's purchase to help aid pediatric cancer research. To participate, those who go to make their purchase at the clothing store on Friday April 3rd need only to mention that they are there to support The Isabella Santos Foundation. The store will be open from 10AM-9PM, and all are invited to shop and socialize for a great cause. Additional details regarding this event can also be viewed on The Isabella Santos Foundation Facebook page.

The Isabella Santos Foundation was founded over five years ago in honor of Isabella Joanne Santos who lost her battle with Neuroblastoma in 2012. This non-profit in Charlotte was originally established by her parents as a way to help find Isabella a cure, but since then it has evolved as a foundation that creates both funding and awareness for Neuroblastoma research. Additionally, the foundation also helps fund many other children's cancer charities.

To this day, The Isabella Santos Foundation continues to thrive due to many of the donations that are made through its website. They are also proud of the continued support they receive from many dedicated volunteers, sponsors and donators like the Lilly Pulitzer – SouthPark Mall store as without this support—they would have not been able to become the organization they are today. As always, The Isabella Santos Foundation family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to those that have supported their goals.

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/17/2014 -- The Isabella Santos Foundation, a non-profit in Charlotte, has announced their partnership with the Charlotte Checkers and their involvement with the team's annual Race Night. Since being founded in 2009, the organization has been raising money to back Neuroblastoma. To date, they have raised over a million dollars and look to expand greatly upon that number through the upcoming event.

The 8th annual Race Night takes place on January 23rd, starting at 6pm, while the Checkers take on the Oklahoma City Barons. Before the puck drops, several NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers will be signing autographs on the stadium's concourse. Along with getting posters and merchandise signed, those in attendance can also take pictures with the team's official race car. The first 5,000 will be given a Bojangles' gift card that will range in value from $1 to $100.

On the 23rd, the Checkers will wear race-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately after the game. The proceeds from the sale of each jersey will go to the Isabella Santos Foundation, as well as other charities. Those interested in attending the event can contact the charity organization as they currently have tickets to the game available for purchase. There is also a limited amount of tickets available on the Checkers' website, but fans are encouraged to act quickly as the event always sells out. After the success of last year's event, the foundation looks forward to an even better turn out this year.

Those who cannot make it to the game, but are still interested in helping the cause can sign up to make a one-time or reoccurring donation on Isabella Santos Foundation's website. Patrons can also follow them on a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter, to stay up to date with all of their news and events.
The Isabella Santos Foundation Announces 1st Annual Purple Ticket Campaign

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/02/2014 -- The Isabella Santos Foundation, one of the largest Charlotte non-profit organizations, has announced their 1st Annual Purple Ticket Campaign. The charity organization has been raising money to aid in the fight against Neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Since their inception in 2009, they have raised over one million dollars through various events.

The Purple Ticket Campaign is a raffle contest that offers participants a chance to win big while also giving to a great cause. The event, which began on November 1st, will end ticket sales on December 17, 2014 with the winner announced shortly afterward. Those interested in purchasing tickets, which are $100 per ticket, can find a link to the ticket sale site on the Isabella Santos Foundation Facebook page.

The key to this nationwide raffle is that there are only 300 tickets available for purchase. The limited quantity means the odds of winning start at 1 in 300, giving participants a much higher chance of winning than they would have in local and national lotteries. The lucky winner will receive a $10,000 prize. The remaining $20,000 will go towards Neuroblastoma research and to the aid of families affected by this cancer. Everyone that takes part in the event is a winner as they will have the comfort of knowing their year-end tax deductible donation helped a great cause.

The non-profit based in Charlotte is heavily involved in a variety of other charitable events, including an annual 5K and an annual blood drive. To learn more about the Purple Ticket Campaign, visit their website or send them an email today. For those that do not want to participate in the raffle, but would still like to donate, the website has a "Donate" section where users can make a reoccurring or one-time donation.

The Isabella Santos Foundation Announced It Has Reached Its Goal of Raising One Million Dollars

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2014 -- The Isabella Santos Foundation, a foundation for children with cancer, has announced they have reached and surpassed their goal of raising one million dollars for the fight against Neuroblastoma. With the goal completed, there are no plans of stopping anytime soon. Over the past seven years, they have raised money through various charity events to reach this feat, with their Annual 5K for Kids Cancer being the largest event for the foundation.

It was during their September race that they were able to reach their goal. The event brought in over $300,000, which was almost half the total amount of money they had raised over the past seven years. The charity has come a long way from its first 5K where $7,000 was raised after an attendance of 180 people. The race has grown from a simple 5K to a day filled with activities like a Kid Zone and a silent auction, as well as the addition of a 10K course.

The Isabella Santos Foundation raises money for the research of a cure for Neuroblastoma, which is a cancer that affects thousands of children and infants every year. The cause is dear to the Santos family whose daughter Isabella fought the disease from the time she was just two years old. During this 5 year battle, the family set up this organization to help find a cure for their daughter, as well as others who were so bravely fighting the disease. In the words of Isabella's dad, Stuart Santos, "We just knew we had to do more".

Through the continued support of their dedicated sponsors, volunteers, and donators, The Isabella Santos Foundation has become one of the largest local Charlotte non-profit organizations. The family would like to thank everyone who has contributed to help them reach their goal of one million dollars. They look forwarded to everyone's continued support as they gear up for their next year of fundraising.

The Isabella Santos Foundation, Along with Sister Foundations, Presents Grant for Neuroblastoma Research to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Waxhaw, NC -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/18/2014 -- As a proud foundation for children with cancer, The Isabella Santos Foundation is announcing their involvement with the Band of Parents, Inc. and a number of sister foundations to present a grant to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in order to fully fund and test an antibody targeted at neuroblastoma treatment. At the end of July, Aurora Ismaili, a 13-year-old member of the Band of Parents who has overcome and survived neuroblastoma, presented Dr. Nai-Kong Cheung, with the second installment of a $2,000,000 grant, serving as the largest pediatric cancer grant in the history of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Cheung is the head of the neuroblastoma program at MSK, a cancer center headquartered in Manhattan, and located throughout New York, as well as a campus in New Jersey. The grant was made possible through the funding and donations of many non-profits and cancer foundations situated throughout the United States. With the Band of Parents, Inc., at the forefront, The Isabella Santos Foundation teamed up with the Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation, Inc., the Press On to CURE Childhood Cancer Fund, and the I Back Jack Foundation, Inc. to present two million dollars for neuroblastoma research.

With the funds, the grant supports the clinical testing of a Hu3F8 bi-specific antibody, which has historically shown tremendous promise for drug treatments. Chairman of the Band of Parents, Marc Winthrop, remarked, "It is with great pride that we work so hard to support the neuroblastoma team at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. We are thankful for their tireless efforts in trying to find a way to save our children."

The Isabella Santos Foundation would like to thank all the donors and supporters of their non profit in Charlotte for making this grant possible. It is through many events and kind sponsors that this sum of money was able to be raised. With a 5k on September 20, a scavenger hunt in Ballantyne on September 1, and many other events as the year rolls on, they look forward to continued support in their effort to find a cure for neuroblastoma, the most-common cancer for children under the age of two.
