The official opening night films included the epic Texas tale "Red Wing" and the charming dramady from Ireland, "The O'Brien's" which went on to win the "Best of Festival" award. From opening with a bang to the exciting standing room only closing night awards ceremony, Idyllwild proved a perfect example of what an independent film festival should be.

The small mountain village of Idyllwild, California, called the Jewel of Riverside County, has now played host to the festival for half a decade. With its strong support of local merchants and local government, the next half decade and beyond will undoubtedly expand this into one of the premiere festivals in North America. Idyllwild 2014's line up of independent films included presentations from the UK, Ireland, France, Canada, and Australia, as well as showcasing young filmmakers from across the US.
