Perfect Latch – A Mother's Comfort New Application with THERMOLAST K

Buford, GA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 06/24/2016 -- Global specialty plastics manufacturer, KRAIBURG TPE, has partnered with BeauGen LLC, the creator of the Perfect Latch, to design a unique product for breast-feeding mothers across the nation.

BeauGen founders, Christopher Chang and Tu-Hien Le, have launched a brand new product with Perfect Latch. Perfect Latch acts as a cushion between the breast pump and the mother's skin to make it more comfortable to pump and to protect sensitive skin areas.

BeauGen needed a natural material that would be FDA-compliant as well as kind to the skin, flexible and extremely soft. Their challenge was to find a material with an extremely low Shore durometer value and high elongation at its breaking point. In addition, the material had to be colorable, while maintaining its technical properties.

KRAIBURG TPE's compound from their versatile THERMOLAST® K family was the solution for Perfect Latch. As well as meeting all the customer's technical requirements, it can be produced in small quantities and variously colored.

With Perfect Latch, the partnership between KRAIBURG TPE and BeauGen is making life much easier for mothers using breast pumps by combining innovation and manufacturing.

Perfect Latch is now available for order on the company's website http://www.beaugen.com.

Zebra Pen Finds the Right Grip with KRAIBURG TPE

International Pen and Ink Manufacturer finds the precise grip for their new product line with global thermoplastic elastomer producer – KRAIBURG TPE

Duluth, GA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/12/2016 -- Late last year, KRAIBURG TPE Americas, the manufacturer of tailor-made thermoplastic elastomers received the 2014-2015 Best International Supplier Award from Zebra Pen, a producer of writing instruments, in Monterrey Mexico. Alberto Oba, Director of KRAIBURG TPE Mexico, accepted the award on KRAIBURG TPE America's behalf. It was given based on outstanding service, consistent product quality and competitive pricing.

KRAIBURG TPE Americas and Zebra Pen have been collaborating since February 2014, when their respective representatives initially met at Plastimagen – a national plastics exhibition in Mexico City, Mexico. One of KRAIBURG TPE America's custom technologies from its THERMOLAST® K series was the solution for the grips needed on two of Zebra Pen's product lines: Orbitz and Sarasa.

For their Sarasa Gel Pen grip, Zebra was seeking a TPE with high coefficient of friction, optimal adhesion to polypropylene, and that would be easily pigmented to match their array of ink colors. The material processing and physical properties aligned extremely well with this application. Because of this success, Zebra then decided to utilize the same grade for their Orbitz pen line.

Similarly, the custom TPE manufacturer aided in the optimization of Zebra's logistics. Before partnering with KRAIBURG TPE Americas, Zebra was purchasing TPE overseas, resulting in a higher cost to acquire and store material. The thermoplastic elastomer producer not only provided a quality product that fit Zebra's application requirements, but was able to streamline their supply chain to a more cost efficient level.

This award and business are testaments of some of KRAIBURG TPE's capabilities in the consumer sector and what separates them from others in the TPE Industry.
Ltd. Of Tokyo, Japan. Founder, Mr. Tokumatsu Ishikawa chose the Zebra as its company image because he learned that it was an animal with strong family herding instinct. This was particularly important for Mr. Ishkawa, as he yearned to build a company where both customers and employees felt part of a family-like environment. The fact that the zebra appears as if it's decorated with large calligraphic pen strokes was the perfect visual for the company image. Today, Zebra Corporation offers an extensive line of writing products including: ball point pens, highlighters, mechanical pencils, gel rollers, and correction pens. Zebra Pens stands for quality, satisfaction, and an ultimate writing performance.

THERMOLAST K Is the Solution to a Sticky Problem

KRAIBURG TPE has partnered with Chase Plastics, a thermoplastic distributor and Innotech Precision Inc., a leading manufacturer of precision plastic components to create a solution for the automotive manufacturing industry.

Duluth, GA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/05/2015 -- KRAIBURG TPE was presented with a unique opportunity when it's distribution partner Chase Plastics, one of the leading North American full-service specialty engineered thermoplastic distributors, approached it with a complex problem that required a creative solution.

Chase Plastics was working with Innotech Precision, Inc., a leading manufacturer of precision plastic components, on an automotive A-pillar window application for a prestigious US based OEM. Innotech was seeking a thermoplastic elastomer for its second shot soft-touch plastic that would adhere to two key hard substrates – ASA & PC/ABS. The manufacturer had previously trialed three different kinds of TPE brands and none were able to fulfill the application requirements. The materials displayed issues from processing, where it would stick to the mold cavity to adhesion difficulties where the compounds would not bond to the harder substrates. Already in February 2014 and start of production quickly approaching the following month, both Innotech and Chase needed a rather rapid and effective solution.

The solution became a KRAIBURG TPE material from their THERMOLAST® K portfolio series that is optimal for adhesion and exterior automotive applications. This particular grade exhibited superior chemical bonding and higher ease of processing than any other material trialed thus far. These TPE materials are based on hydrogenated block copolymers and are components of virtually all end-product market segments, such as: Consumer, Industrial and of course Automotive. In addition to their excellent ASA & PC/ABS bonding capabilities, they also feature outstanding sealing and non-slip properties as well as bonding to other engineered plastics like: PC, PMMA, POM and PA.

At last success was achieved and the THERMOLAST® K material is now utilized as the soft touch element in the A-pillar window for over 250,000 vehicle models. Production is expected to run for five years. This is yet another example of the benefits of KRAIBURG TPE's expertise in the field of TPE's and their processing. They consistently support their partners and customers with their know-how gained through their vast years of experience.
Shortly, we will also announce the incorporation of our Mexico entity, KRAIBURG TPE Mexico S de C.V. de R.L., that will be headed by newly promoted Director, Alberto Oba. This will enable us to serve our customers much more efficiently throughout the region by providing both products and services on a more localized basis", explained Jeff Frankish, Managing Director for KRAIBURG TPE in the US. In addition to being located close to their customers across the globe, the company's sales structure is aligned with defined end-use market segments including teams specifically focused around automotive, industrial, consumer and medical applications. These teams specialize in dealing with individual customer requirements which, in many cases, are unique to their particular markets. These teams are also supported by key account managers which have the primary responsibility of working with large, international customers that the company supplies either on a direct basis or indirectly through regional molders.

Overall, the company employs around 435 people with 2014 sales of 138 million euros worldwide. KRAIBURG TPE is certified according to ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:1996 and ISO 50001 (Europe only). Within the US, KRAIBURG TPE Corporation operates with a staff of about 60 associates supporting not only local customers throughout the Americas, but also directly with several global OEM accounts in developing applications for sales within other regions.

Innovation in TPE Compound Technology . . .
Marketed globally under the THERMOLAST® trade name, compounds developed and marketed by KRAIBURG TPE provide product developers and designers with one of the broadest selections of TPE materials for soft touch, over molding and sealing applications. In recent months, KRAIBURG TPE has also launched a high flow product line comprised of several products specifically tailored for the automotive market. These materials were precisely design to ease the processing complexities of window encapsulation manufacturing.

Also unique to KRAIBURG TPE is a new generation of high-performance TPEs sold under the HIPEX® trade name. HIPEX® compounds offer temperature resistance up to 170°C and chemical resistance to media such as motor oils, fuels or greases - - properties that have historically only been achievable with thermoset rubber compounds. This means that users can benefit from lower production and assembly costs by avoiding time-consuming vulcanization and post-production thermal treatments. The range of uses for high-performance TPE compounds includes a wide variety of sealing tasks in aggressive automotive or industrial applications.

Be sure to stop by the KRAIBURG TPE booth #S18133 to find out more about these exciting new products or to talk with a TPE specialist about your individual application needs.

COPEC for the New Astrospec 2.0 Safety Glasses - A New Look and a Velvety Touch

The astrospec - an uvex classic safety glass design from the 90s, is reborn in an all-new design. Its predecessor retains the original lines, while supplementing the product with all the functions required for modern safety glasses: A frame from KRAIBURG TPE made of COPEC® ensures secure holding without pressure spots and keeps it velvety-soft for the wearer and holder.

Waldkraiburg, Germany -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/20/2015 -- The new astrospec 2.0 involved processing high-tech materials into a set of safety glasses, which combine innovative functionality with unmatched standards of safety. The flexible safety glasses frame employs the COPEC® Thermoplastic Elastomers from the specialist manufacturer KRAIBURG TPE. They remain firmly in place, on any face, while retaining a silky-smooth feeling against the skin, for unbeatable wearer comfort. The frame also features triple adjustment, while the glasses can be folded flat together after use.

Eyes are protected using a flattened curve wraparound lens made of polycarbonate and with built-in side protection. The lens coating prevents fogging and scratching. Finally, a ventilation system keeps the climate comfortable for eyes while preventing any risk of liquids or foreign bodies entering into the eye area.

COPEC®: Offers unbeatable feel and repels dirt
COPEC® is processed as part of dual-component injection molding with polycarbonate (PC). A production approach which simplifies manufacturing, slashes cycle times and eliminates the need for additional work procedures. The material resists dirt and withstands the everyday external stresses to which it is exposed – including UV radiation as well as skin oils and lubricating greases. It is also totally harmless to the wearer of the glasses: TPE is free of all latex, PVC and heavy metals. Moreover, COPEC® is also recyclable. KRAIBURG TPE has its own in-house coloristic division, to get the color of the material exactly as the customer wants. Further advantages of TPE compounds include the ease of coloring they allow and their excellent color stability.

Long-standing collaboration
UVEX and KRAIBURG TPE joined forces to collaborate as early as the astrospec 2.0 predecessor, as well as on many other projects. This was also the case for the pheos safety glasses, which were honored with the German Design Award in 2013.

Thermoplastic Elastomer Supplier, KRAIBURG TPE, Unveils New Development Line - EL 17

KTPE’s technical department is enthusiastic about having the new line on board because it will aid KTU’s developers in formulating new compounds with customer’s custom requirements.

Duluth, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/15/2014 -- KRAIBURG TPE AMERICAS (KTPE) unveiled its new development/sample line (EL 17) on January 31st of this year, by producing a compound from their THERMOLAST®K series. It has been an important project for KTPE's Technical, Maintenance and Production departments for the past 12 months. The new extruder line will serve primarily two support functions.

It will primarily aid the technical department to concentrate on innovative custom solutions for customers and quickly bring those solutions to the customer's door. As a secondary function, the EL 17 will alleviate the EL 02 (APV Production Line) from producing small runs of material thus making production times more efficient. This way, KTPE's customer base will benefit due to much quicker response and turnaround time on sample requests.

KTPE's technical department is enthusiastic about having the new line on board because it will aid their developers in formulating new compounds with customer's custom requirements and rapidly move into the production phase to test first time productions. Additionally, Technical Director, Ken Sienkowski states: "It will also help in our ability to perform color matching projects for customers." The latter ties into the expanding innovation capabilities for the technical department.

The extruder will be operated by newly promoted machine operator, Toan Ma. EL 17 will also be a key factor for the logistics' department inventory reduction target, as it will reduce scrap material significantly for small orders. The addition of this new line not only speaks to KRAIBURG TPE's desire to improve upon their rapid response to customer's demands, but also to the steady growth it continues to experience.
