Screwdriver Accessory Meets $18,000 Kickstarter Campaign Goal with a Day to Spare

The inventor of the “Screw Grabber,” an invention designed to hold non-magnetic screws on the end of screwdriver, has met his Kickstarter campaign goal with over $18,300 in pledges with a day left in his 30-day crowd funding campaign. His success means that Phillip Kauffman, a native of Lake Elsinore California, will get to keep the proceeds to fund manufacturing of his invention.

Los Angeles, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/24/2014 -- The inventor of the Screw Grabber, a new tool that securely holds non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver, has successfully funded his Kickstarter campaign, attracting over $18,200 in funds with a day remaining in the campaign. "I don't know what to say to thank you enough," said Phillip Kauffman in an update on the crowd funding site.

Supporters can still pre-order the first production run of Screw Grabbers on Kickstarter.com at the introductory price until the Kickstarter campaign ends on Saturday, March 22. A four-piece pack of Screw Grabbers is available for $7; a 40-piece Super Contractor Pack is available for $40. The estimated shipping date is June of 2014.

The Inland Empire native noted, "The last couple of days we have seen a huge jump in backers and pledges...We have a meeting setup with our manufacturer on Monday to go over the mold and production schedule. I'm pretty excited to get the Screw Grabber produced and into your hands."

The patent-pending Screw Grabber is a simple silicone sleeve. One end of the sleeve has four internal ribs that run parallel to the screwdriver shank. The other end is divided into three sections with perpendicular grooves that hold screw heads ranging from 5/32" to 7/16" in diameter (4 mm to 12 mm). The Screw Grabber is designed for non-magnetic screws, and works on virtually any shape of screw head (pan, dome, mushroom, flat head, countersunk, flanged, etc.), and any type of driver (hex, Torx, straight slot, Phillips, etc.)

Kauffman's solution for keeping screws screws on the end of a screw driver has already attracted interest from a major national hardware chain, and prototypes have received positive reviews. The Australian website Apocalypse Equipped noted that "not having to fumble with screws whilst doing a rapid assembly; shoring up a doorframe, adding additional locks, barricades or the like, saves time and effort. Not dropping valuable components whilst doing constructions, repairs or the like is another excellent reason to not be loosing your screws. Remember, not all screws are ferromagnetic, so simply having a magnetic tool-tip is not the perfect solution. Especially pertinent for maritime builders, or non-sparking requirements. These [Screw Grabbers] were a simple little addition, and I think I'll be leaving them on my favorite drivers, slipped out of the way, ready to use, no matter what comes."

Screwdriver Accessory Inventor Scrambles for $3,500 in Final 3 Days of Kickstarter Campaign

The “Screw Grabber,” an invention designed to hold non-magnetic screws on the end of screwdriver, has attracted over $14,500 in pledges in the twenty-seven days since the launch of its 30-day Kickstarter crowd funding campaign. Los Angeles inventor Phillip Kauffman must raise $18,000 in pledges by March 22, 2014 or he gets nothing.

Los Angeles, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/19/2014 -- The inventor of the Screw Grabber, a new tool that securely holds non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver, has reached over 80% of his funding goal with 3 days remaining in his $18,000 Kickstarter campaign. "We're all hustling to bring in that remaining $3,500," says Phillip Kauffman, 29. Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" crowd funding platform, so if Kauffman hasn't met his goal by Friday, March 22, he will get nothing. The Screw Grabber can be pre-ordered online at Kickstarter.com for a pledge of at least $7.00. Kauffman recently added a $40.00 Super Contractor Pack of 40 Screw Grabbers to the reward levels.

The patent-pending Screw Grabber is a simple silicone-like sleeve about an inch long. One end of the sleeve slips onto the screwdriver shank. The other end grips screw heads ranging from 5/32" to 7/16" in diameter (4 mm to 12 mm) to hold them onto the screwdriver, allowing you to use the screwdriver one-handed. The Screw Grabber is designed for non-magnetic screws, and works on virtually any shape of standard screw head, and any type of driver (hex, Torx, straight slot, Phillips, etc.) Kickstarter pledges will pay to machine the molds needed to manufacture the Screw Grabber. Kauffman intends to manufacture the Screw Grabbers in the U.S.A.

Kauffman grew up on a five-acre ranch in Lake Elsinore, California, where he spent several years helping his father pick up dropped screws as they worked together in the family's custom cabinet shop. "My family still lives near Lake Elsinore, so I go out to work on projects in the cabinet shop with my dad about once or twice a month," says Kauffman. Kauffman now lives in the Los Angeles area and is the Manager of Creative Services for Iconisus L&Y Visual Communication Systems, a motion picture and television advertising agency in Culver City.

Kauffman's invention for keeping screws screws on the end of a screwdriver has already sparked the interest of a major national hardware chain. "But we need to get our molds manufactured before you'll see Screw Grabbers on the shelves of your local hardware store," says Kauffman. "Our supporters on Kickstarter are really coming through for us, but we need about another 200 pledgers to meet the goal."

Kauffman created the Screw Grabber in his spare time. "As a designer, I always look for simple, elegant solutions," Kauffman notes," and there just wasn't one that solved this problem. There are other products that claim to do the same thing, but they were clunky, or awkward, or expensive. The Screw Grabber is so simple and easy to use and affordable that you can store one on every screwdriver in your toolbox."

Screw Grabber Screwdriver Accessory Adds Super Contractor's Pack to Kickstarter Reward Levels

A new Super Contractor’s Pack reward has been added to the Kickstarter campaign for the Screw Grabber, an invention that holds non-magnetic screws on the end of screwdriver. For a pledge of $40, supporters will receive 30 large and 10 small Screw Grabbers if the project meets its $18,000 crowd funding goal by March 22, 2014.

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/14/2014 -- The creator of the Screw Grabber, a new invention that securely holds non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver, has added a $40.00 Super Contractor's Pack reward level to his crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter. If the project meets its funding goal of $18,000 by March 22, supporters who pledge $40.00 or more will receive an assortment of 30 large and 10 small Screw Grabbers. The Screw Grabber can be pre-ordered online at at Kickstarter.com for a pledge of at least $7.00. So far, the campaign has attracted over 600 supporters who have pledged a total of $11,205.00.

"Almost half of our supporters have chosen our Contractor Pack of 20 Screw Grabbers as a reward," says inventor Phillip Kauffman, 29, a resident of Los Angeles. "This was surprising, because we thought the Screw Grabber would appeal more to the do-it-yourself market and boaters than professional contractors and mechanics. But clearly, both professionals and DIY tool users are looking for a way to keep non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver."

A major national hardware chain has already expressed interest in the product, a transparent silicone-like sleeve that securely grips a screw at one end and the screwdriver shank at the other. "We need to meet our $18,000 goal before we can move forward with retail distribution," says Kauffman. Kickstarter funds will pay for the molds needed to manufacture the patent-pending screwdriver accessory. "Unless we raise the remaining $6,795 we need on Kickstarter in the next week, we won't have a product to sell."

Kauffman says he tried other tricks for holding a non-magnetic screw, but wasn't satisfied with any of them. "I always look for simple, elegant solutions," Kauffman notes, "and there just wasn't one that could effectively keep a brass, stainless steel or aluminum screw on the end of a screwdriver without something messy like electrical tape, putty or grease. Other products I tried were clunky, or awkward, or expensive. The Screw Grabber is so simple, easy to use and affordable that you can keep one on every screwdriver in your toolbox."

"Screw Grabber" Screwdriver Accessory Hits 54% of $18,000 Kickstarter Campaign Goal with 11 Days Remaining

The “Screw Grabber,” a gadget designed to hold non-magnetic screws on the end of screwdriver, has attracted nearly $10,000 in pledges in the first 19 days of its 30-day crowd funding campaign on Kickstarter. Los Angeles inventor Phillip Kauffman must raise $18,000 in pledges by March 22, 2014 or he gets nothing.

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/11/2014 -- The Screw Grabber, a new tool that securely holds brass, stainless steel, aluminum and other non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver, has reached over 50% of its funding goal with 14 days remaining in its $18,000 Kickstarter campaign. "We're amazed and inspired by the support," says the Screw Grabber's inventor, Phillip Kauffman, 29, of Los Angeles.

Kickstarter pledges will fund the molds needed to manufacture the Screw Grabber, which is an inch-long ribbed silicone-like sleeve that slips on the end of a screwdriver shank. Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" crowdfunding platform, so unless Kauffman raises $18,000 in pledges before March 22, he will not get any funds at all from the campaign. The Screw Grabber can be pre-ordered online at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/phillipkauffman/screw-grabber-holds-non-magnetic-screws-tight for a pledge of at least $7.00

"So far we've received almost 550 pledges from all over America, plus Canada, the UK, Greece, Japan, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands, Singapore, France, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Norway, and Sweden," says Kauffman. "It just proves that dropping and losing screws is universal."

"Everyone who owns a screwdriver can relate to the problem that the Screw Grabber solves," Kauffman continues. "Where there are screwdrivers, there are aluminum, brass, stainless steel and other non-magntic screws dropped under workbenches, in heating vents, inside of appliances, under furniture, inside of motorcycles, in the ocean...dropped because they wouldn't stay on the end of a screwdriver. "

Kauffman's invention has already sparked the interest of a major national hardware chain. "But we need to get our molds manufactured first," says Kauffman. "Unless we raise the remaining $10,000 we need on Kickstarter, we won't have a product to sell."

Kauffman, a graphic designer, created the Screw Grabber in his spare time, inspired when he was trying to assemble an air purifier using non-magnetic screws.
"Screw Grabber" Inventor Launches $18,000 Kickstarter Campaign to Fund First Manufacturing Run

The inventor of a gadget designed to hold non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver has launched a 30-day Kickstarter campaign to fund production of the “Screw Grabber.” Phillip Kauffman, 29, of Los Angeles, must raise $18,000 in pledges by March 22, 2014.

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/20/2014 -- "Everyone who has ever picked up a screwdriver can relate to the frustration of dropping a non-magnetic screw," says the inventor of the Screw Grabber, a new tool that securely holds brass, stainless steel, aluminum, and other non-magnetic screws on the end of a screwdriver. Phillip Kauffman, 29, is counting on that universal DIY complaint to fuel his $18,000 Kickstarter campaign, launching February 20, 2014 on the crowd-funding site. "The Kickstarter funds will pay for the engineering and machining of our molds, and for the first production run," says Kauffman.

Available in two sizes, the patent-pending Screw Grabber is a transparent, rubbery, inch-long sleeve that fits on the shank of a screwdriver, holding the screw head to the end of the driver without tape or other adhesives. One end of the Screw Grabber is split into three "petals" with horizontal ribs that grip screw heads from 5/32" to 7/16" (4 mm to 12 mm) in diameter. The other end of the Screw Grabber features internal tapered ribs that allow it to grip screwdriver shanks ranging from 3/32" to 1/4" in diameter.

Supporters can pledge any amount from one dollar to $1000.00 on Kickstarter. Anyone pledging at least $7.00 will receive an assortment of Screw Grabbers if the project is successful. A $1,000 pledge will get the supporter an assortment of Screw Grabbers plus a home-cooked meal in Kauffman's Los Angeles home, if the project is fully funded by March 22nd."Kickstarter is all or nothing," Kauffman explains. "If the campaign doesn't meet its goal, backers' pledges are refunded." The Screw Grabber will be made in the U.S.A. using recycled materials. Kauffman is already in talks to put the Screw Grabber in major hardware stores.

The Screw Grabber can handle both flat and rounded screw heads, including countersunk screws, button heads, pan heads, and mushroom head screws. It works with Phillips, slot, Torx, and Hex drives, and "it also works on flanged head screws such as sheet metal screws," says Kauffman.

"When you're working with brass or stainless steel screws, it's almost impossible to keep them on the end of your screwdriver long enough to get the screws seated, especially in tight spaces," says Kauffman, who has years of experience dropping screws working in a custom cabinet shop and doing maintenance on cars. Kauffman was assembling an air purifier in smoggy Los Angeles when he had the "Eureka" moment that led to the creation of the screwdriver accessory. "There was only one way to put that purifier together properly, but it would require me to literally balance a screw on the end of my driver. I knew there had to be a better way."
