Brady announced that the Philadelphia Mummers Mardi Gras Parade is scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 10 am until 12 noon along the length of Manayunk's famous Main Street retail and restaurant corridor. This family-focused celebration of the music and pageantry of the Mummers was conceived as a means to keep Philadelphia's renowned Mummers' tradition alive and well.

In recent years, largely as result of the national economic downturn and the resulting cuts to the city's budget, the Mummers Association has been hard hit economically, causing a reduction in the ranks of Mummers and their performance clubs, and necessitating a shortened parade route on New Year's Day, the Mummers' grandest annual stage. Today's announcement of the Philadelphia Mummers Mardi Gras Parade was met with jubilation by all parties involved.

Manayunk was looking for another signature event to showcase their vibrant community. Downtown Main Street offers the perfect setting for a family friendly parade that will showcase the musical sounds of the Mummers. The goal is for this to become an annual tradition of things to do in Manayunk.

Transitioning from The Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties for 2014 to Main Street in Manayunk, the highly anticipated event has been set for Sunday, February 22, 2015. Mummers Mardi Gras will be an all-day event, beginning with a parade down Main Street highlighting all participating Mummers clubs.
