Depending on the agreement, the contractor is obliged to perform specific tasks like swathing and transportation, or operate the entire farming process from seeding to harvesting. The input costs like seeds and machinery is shouldered by the owner, and the contractor just acts as an employee. The advantage of custom farming for land owners is they receive all the income from sales and have full control over the entire farming process. But the disadvantage of custom farming is it puts the financial and management risks completely on the owners.

Having 60 more votes to advance in the final vote is all that’s needed to pass the bill in Senate to approve the expansion of hunting lands, shooting, and other sportsmen’s activities on federal lands, as reported by The Blaze. Despite oppositions' take on the issue of utilizing federal lands for hunting and shooting, the number of senators who are against the approval of the bill seem not to suffice for the bill not to be passed. According to reports, "the House has passed similar legislation a few times over the last few years, and the language in the Senate is a product of Sens. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska). The Senate bill also includes some language related to habitat conservation, which helped attract bipartisan support."

During the 1970s, a federal license for duck hunting produced an interestingly amount of money out of the "duck stamp" payments made by more than two million duck hunters. Ninety eight percent (98%) of which was used for improving the National Wildlife Refuge System.
