New certifications enhance safety of gas and vacuum systems for medical applications

Wichita, KS -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/16/2018 -- C&B Equipment Service Technicians Tim Hayman and Matt Cowart have achieved their ASSE 6040 Certification for installation and maintenance of medical gas systems.

"These certifications are very important because service technicians are required by law to have credentials, guaranteeing the quality of service that is needed to work on the mechanical and gas systems within sensitive medical environments," said Tom Zowacki, Product Manager for Clean Air & Vac Systems at Gardner Denver. Zowacki helped write the ASSE Standards and has been a National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) member since 1987.

As a result of this new certification, medical facilities across the region will gain improved local access to certified professionals in the installation and maintenance of the gas and vacuum systems that are vital to safe operations under the NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code.

"We're dedicated to investing in the training to support our growing healthcare industry by providing ASSE Certified professionals based right here in Kansas," said C&B Equipment President Dennis Noyes. "Tim and Matt are excited by the opportunity to advance professionally and our entire team is looking forward to serving our many medical customers and introducing ourselves to new customers."

A 6040 Certified Medical Gas Systems Maintenance Technician demonstrates competence in the maintenance of medical gas and vacuum systems and may perform such maintenance tasks alone, or through the supervision of other individuals. They must be employed or contracted by a healthcare facility, or actively engaged in working with medical gas systems, having a minimum of one year of documented practical experience in the maintenance of medical gas systems.

C&B Equipment Expands Services with Vacuum Pump Remanufacturing

New service can save industrial customers weeks of lead time and approximately half the cost of a new pump system

Wichita, KS -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/17/2017 -- C&B Equipment has purchased the assets and inventory of a vacuum pump manufacturer in the Forth Worth, Texas area, thereby expanding their service of vacuum pump systems. C&B can now remanufacture and replace vacuum pumps at a fraction of the cost and lead time of a new system.

Brands serviced include: Busch, Elmo Rietschle and Traviani. C&B will add at least two to four employees to its Wichita location to accommodate the expansion of service.

This expansion aligns with C&B's philosophy of Uptime Solutioneering™—increasing mean time between failures with engineered solutions.

"Our goal is always to prevent excessive downtime and repair costs for our customers," said Dennis Noyes, President of C&B Equipment. "If a vacuum pump goes out in a plant, it can be three weeks before a new pump arrives from the manufacturer. That's three weeks that station is non-operational, losing money. We can now bring in a remanufactured vacuum pump in a matter of hours or days, for roughly half the cost of a new pump."

This is a boon to meat packing, dairy, composites and plastic industries throughout Kansas, northern Texas and southern Oklahoma. C&B will also continue to serve customers in Fort Worth and surrounding areas.

"We want customers in Fort Worth to know that we're ever-ready to take care of them," said Noyes. "Pump rebuilds, repair, installation, custom builds...whatever they need. We're sure to offer the best option that saves time and money with Uptime Solutioneering™."

C&B Equipment Has Signed a Direct Distribution Agreement with SEEPEX

Agreement will provide a broader range of industrial products and servicing capabilities

Wichita, KS -- (ReleaseWire) -- 04/20/2017 -- C&B Equipment signed a renewable distribution agreement with SEEPEX, a leading worldwide specialist in pump technology. Founded in 1972, SEEPEX is established internationally with subsidiaries and branch offices in more than 60 countries.

C&B Equipment will now be able to provide a broader supply of pumps and additional solutions for customers who need their pumps serviced. They offer service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to current owners of SEEPEX pumps in their Kansas territory, which includes areas west of Manhattan, Kansas to Independence, Kansas.
C&B Equipment Releases Video Case Study of DIP System Installation

Findings include improved performance, lower maintenance costs, and ease of installation

Wichita, KS -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/25/2016 -- C&B Equipment has released a video case study detailing the results of the region's first Direct In-Line Pump System (or DIP System®) installation. The installation was performed in April by C&B for the Norton Correctional Facility in Norton, KS.

While this wastewater pumping system has been used successfully in Europe since 2003, it is only now coming to North America as municipalities seek more innovative and sustainable wastewater management solutions.

The DIP System® is designed to make wastewater lift stations much less maintenance intensive while effectively dealing with the trash, wipes, diapers and clothing that clog pumps and sewer lines. The DIP System® automatically shreds these materials, allowing for uninterrupted flow. This also eliminates the labor and costs associated with physically removing and disposing of the materials.

"The most important aspect of the DIP System® … is that it will solve the high labor costs experienced in maintaining and cleaning wastewater lift station pumps," says Jon Dunham, Key Accounts Manager for C&B.

C&B's video case study identifies several other key benefits to municipalities and facilities converting their existing wet well pumping stations to the DIP System®. They include:

- System is self-sufficient and can adapt speed automatically to flow intake
- System can be managed remotely, eliminating the need to send a crew to the site
- Reduced manpower required to remove and reinstall clogged pumps
- Rapid install and less excavation needed for new construction

These have proved true for the Norton Correctional Facility in the three months since installation. The installation process was completed within only three days.

"Our application here at our facility is a little unique," says Joel Hrabe, Deputy Warden of the Norton Correctional Facility. "We never know for sure what's going to get flushed down the wastewater system.

"We absolutely have not had to shut our sewer system down to repair, pull pumps, to unclog pumps—none of that has happened since installation. … I would recommend the DIP System® wholeheartedly."

C&B Equipment Leads Lunch & Learn Event at Professional Engineering Consultants

“Ending the Waste In Wastewater Pumping with The Dip System®”

Wichita, KS -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/24/2016 -- Jon Dunham, Key Account Manager with C&B Equipment, was excited to visit Professional Engineering Consultants, P.A. (PEC) in Wichita, KS, last Wednesday, March 16th, for a Lunch & Learn event where Dunham delivered training and information on "Ending the Waste In Wastewater Pumping with The DIP System®."

Dunham began with the history of wastewater and wastewater management. He then introduced the Direct Inline Pump system, better known as The DIP System, bringing with him a prototype for PEC's engineers to examine, as well as the remains of a pair of jeans the DIP System shredded through. Dunham also discussed:

DIP System vs. submersible pump in wet-well
Benefits of The DIP System
The cost of ownership / Return on Investment

"Sewer lines and centrifugal pumps are notorious for collecting all sorts debris such as wipes, diapers and even thick materials like jeans — all of which clog pumps and need to be physically removed and hauled away, says Dunham. "The DIP System shreds through these materials effortlessly — alleviating the pump clogging problem," without the need for human intervention.

"This incredible reliability is an undeniable asset as it saves substantial time and dollars for municipalities," says C&B President, Dennis Noyes. "That's what we at C&B like to call Uptime Solutioneering™!"

Developed by French innovator, Stephane Dumonceaux, the first DIP System was patented, installed and proven successful in 2003. Since then, more than 1,300 systems have been purchased by municipalities throughout France, including Disneyland Paris, with many more expected to come.

C&B Equipment recently sold the region's first DIP System to the State of Kansas for use in a correctional facility located in Norton, Kan.
Sewer lines and centrifugal pumps are notorious for collecting all sorts of trash and debris such as wipes, rags, diapers and even thick materials like jeans — all of which clog pumps and need to be physically removed and hauled away.

The DIP System® shreds these materials automatically without human intervention and alleviates the pump clogging problem.

"This innovative wastewater pumping system shreds solid and fibrous bodies effortlessly — allowing for uninterrupted flow through the system," says C&B President, Dennis Noyes. "This incredible reliability is an undeniable asset as it saves substantial time and dollars for municipalities. That's what we at C&B like to call Uptime Solutioneering™!"

By lifting gravity effluent directly at the point of entry, without water loading or a wet well, the DIP System overcomes the drawbacks of retained volumes of effluent. Problems caused by the retained volumes of effluent often include, but are not limited to, dangerous gases such as Hydrogen Sulfide (H?S), bad smells, sand and grease accumulation, equipment corrosion, structural erosion, clogged float switches and access safety.

Developed by French innovator, Stephane Dumonceaux, the first DIP System was patented,

installed and proven successful in 2003. Since then, more than 1,300 systems have been purchased by municipalities throughout France, including Disneyland Paris, with many more expected to come.

C&B Equipment Expands Into New Markets with Acquisition of Kansas City-Based Steel Toe Group

Wichita, KS -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/19/2015 -- C&B Equipment of Wichita has acquired Steel Toe Group (STG), a leading distributor of municipal pumps and mechanical seals, headquartered in Lenexa, Kan.

This acquisition will add to C&B's already extensive line-up of industrial equipment and enable the company to offer more product lines in more markets.

"This acquisition is a big step forward for C&B," says Dennis Noyes, president and CEO at C&B Equipment. "We're getting into new, complementary distribution lines — such as municipal wastewater pumps — and acquiring an entirely new set of customers."

While C&B is recognized as a leader in pumps, compressors, blowers and engines, STG is well established in mechanical seals and the municipal market for its new wastewater pumping system, the Direct In-Line Pump System, or DIP.

City sewer lines and pumps are notorious for collecting all sorts of trash and debris such as rags, diapers and even thick materials such as clothing — all of which need to be physically removed and hauled away before they damage the pumps and other sewer systems.

DIP shreds these materials so they flow through the system. This saves substantial time and dollars for cities. The system also enjoys reductions in dangerous gases and odors, equipment corrosion, structural erosion, clogged float switches and trash or debris collection.

While the patented DIP System is already widely used in Europe, with more than 1,100 systems in France alone, C&B of Lenexa is currently engineering the DIP System into multiple municipal wastewater facilities.

"This is a very big deal for Kansas," said Noyes. "We've already witnessed the incredible power of the DIP System in Europe and we're excited to bring those same great benefits to the United States."

The two companies will fully retain their teams and facilities. Nothing will change in the servicing of customers. The STG brand will be replaced with C&B Equipment.

Soon, customers of both companies will have the ability to access what was previously exclusive product lines.

C&B customers will now have access to product lines such as SEPCO seals, while Olathe customers will have access to C&B's lines, such as AES seals, Summit and Roper pumps, Yanmar diesel products and Continental engines.

New Inside Application Engineer Joins C&B Equipment

Wichita, KS -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/15/2014 -- C&B Equipment has added Gerry Thibodeau as their new Inside Application Engineer. With over 30 years in the industry, Thibodeau is excited to bring his "reliability strategy" to C&B's customers.

Thibodeau spent his career with Cargill working in the laboratory with product research, in operations, in the field and most recently as the reliability supervisor, which consisted of developing long-term reliability strategies.

With over 30 years in the industry, Thibodeau is excited to bring his "reliability strategy" to C&B's customers.

"Reliability strategies is just a different way of looking at ops and equipment," says Thibodeau. "It's getting the most juice from the lemon, certainly, but also getting more return and productivity from the operators involved."

"At Cargill, I was the one calling C&B and being demanding about our needs," says Thibodeau. "Over the years, I developed great respect for C&B and their ability to deliver."

Thibodeau's past experience has allowed him to develop a strong understanding of how the customer feels and what they expect.

"I'm not from the sales side, so it helps build connections with our customers. I know what their frustrations are, and when they say they need it now, I really get that," says Thibodeau.

Thibodeau's new position at C&B primarily involves assisting customers in defining their needs for particular applications, then providing them with engineering recommendations and options.

Thibodeau says he was attracted to C&B Equipment because of the company's values, the wide range of customers they support, and their continuous investment in both the physical plant and their employees.

"We are excited to bring Gerry aboard," says Dennis Noyes, president of C&B Equipment. "Gerry is incredibly professional, has substantial experience and has a great grasp on our customers' needs. If you don't know what you need, and even if you do, Gerry is your guy."
