To Quit or Not to Quit: A Smoker's Dilemma

Smokers, fret no more. Electronic cigarettes are here giving the exact taste and feel of smoking without giving too much risk on one’s health.

Ottawa, ON -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/22/2014 -- "Watching the smoke dance out of a cigarette is like watching a girl dance out of her dress." – D.H Mondfleur

There are already warning signs pasted on every pack of cigarette these days. But it seems smokers don't really mind them at all. The quick ease and the bliss a cigarette stick gives to a stressed heart and a burnt out mind is incomparable to all the bliss in the world. That is, if one is a smoker.

Most smokers are aware of the health hazards a pack or even a cigarette stick does to one's body. However, the nicotine content of cigarettes make smokers want them all the more even if they are aware that tobacco is one of the leading causes of preventable diseases in the planet.

Smoking of cigars started as early as 5000 BC as part of Shaman rituals. It was also believed that smoking has healing capabilities during ancient times and had also became a way to show hospitality in some cultures and a sign of goodwill and diplomacy to others. As years go by, cultures drift and society changed. Smoking also evolved to become a source of pleasure and a social tool.

In the modern times, health concerns on tobacco smoke had been widespread all across the globe. Recently, innovators have come up to an idea in providing smokers with an instrument to have them experience the bliss of smoking at the same time lessening its harmful effects on the body. Thus, the invention of Electronic Cigarettes also known as e-cigarettes or personal vaporizers.

One of the leading e-cigarette manufacturers in Canada had been through extensive and rigorous research in providing the best quality Electronic Cigarettes that consumers enjoy. They do not only cater for patrons who would like to quit smoking but also pride in providing e-cigarettes without depriving the consumers of the bliss and happiness they get when smoking an actual cigar. Thus, giving the exact taste and feel of smoking without giving too much risk on one's health.

Cancigs, Canada's Premier E-Cigarette is the best option in the market these days. They do not only boast of high-quality, easy to use e-cigarettes but also prides in providing 100% Customer Service Satisfaction all throughout Canada. Most of all, they cater to consumers who would like to have an alternative in cigarette smoking and provide a safer alternative to people who smoke.

So stop the dilemma. If you want to quit now, start using CanCigs. The best choice is e-cigarette smoking.
Through their extensive research, they have concluded that the overwhelming majority of consumers who are using electronic cigarettes would prefer to always have a pre-filled, fully charged e-cigarette on hand that is ready to be enjoyed at any moment. These same consumers also indicated that they would rather not have to deal with the frequency of filling the cartridges with e-juice and the tedious, time consuming process of cleaning the atomizers every few days.
Electronic Cigarettes Instead of Tobacco: The Upsides to eCigarette Smoking

Withdrawal from tobacco smoking is not an easy task. Using electronic cigarettes is a healthy alternative and a cool way to kick the tobacco habit or any dangerous step towards another health hazard.

Ottawa, ON -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/14/2014 -- Electronic cigarettes, compared to any ordinary cigar, are about 99 percent less harmful. In Canada, this battery- powered device is mainly designed to help someone quit smoking and to serve as an alternative to tobacco that kills about almost 40,000 Canadians a year. In fact, tobacco smoking is the leading cause of premature death in Canada.

Smoking has a substantial impact on health and life expectancy—smokers could lose about 9 years of life expectancy, according to the Canadian Community Health Survey. Based on the latest available statistics, there were 19,000 lung cancer deaths in Canada in 2008, accounting for about 27% of all cancer deaths in that year.

The list of using E- Cigarette advantages approved by Canada is something every smoker should see.

Enough for the "poison". Unlike the old cigarette with more than 70 cancer- causing chemicals, eCigarette has neither tar nor toxins associated with tobacco smoking. The absence of tobacco eliminates more than 4,000 chemicals including 40 plus known carcinogens.

Free from smoke smell. eCigarette users smelled sweet aroma of strawberry or vanilla e-liquids instead of smoke smell that sticks on hair, clothes, walls or furniture.

Deal no more with ash and butts. The fact that eCigarette makes no flame or combustion, there is no need to deal with ash and cigarette butts. More importantly, secondhand smoke is safe from it as only smoke-like mist is being emitted, which is just water- based vapor that dissipates within seconds.

Anytime, anywhere, there's no need to worry much about smoking. Since there is no secondhand smoke produced, a smoker is free to do puffing anytime and anywhere. Also, it won't stain or turn the teeth to yellow and breathe nasty.

This is a green cigar. Usually, the cause of accidental fires is discarded cigarettes which eventually endanger lives, destroy properties and pollute environment. However, eCigarette is more environment-friendly. It eliminates the risks and pretty kinder to the environment.

Tolerable for the society. With undoubtedly increasing health issues, smoking bans are proliferating and generally, smokers are forced to step out of a building and are required to engage in smoking only in isolated areas. With electronic cigarettes, one may enjoy the company of others without worrying about offending them with secondhand smoke.

Indeed, withdrawal from tobacco smoking is not an easy task, however death avoidance is a lot easier to do by taking eCigarette as an alternative cigar. This is a cool way to kick the tobacco habit or any dangerous step towards another health hazard.

Certainly Not on the Plane: A Plea to Prohibit Airline Passengers from "Vaping" During Flights

People who are trying to quit smoking resort to using electronic cigarettes. But decoding the legal haze around smoking e-cigarettes during flights is not easy.

Ottawa, ON -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/02/2014 -- Angela Mah, Spokeswoman of Air Canada, made it clear that "Air Canada does not allow the use of e-cigarettes on board all Air Canada flights".

This explanation was sent to CBC News a few weeks after Calgary businesswoman Elizabeth Cole, a passenger of Air Canada, along with other passengers, on March 28, complained about how the crew ignored another passenger's (from the same flight) use of electronic cigarettes. According to Cole, she would understand had the flight attendants didn't notice the "vaping" acts. But, according to her, the man was not hiding his e-cigarette. "I was very surprised it was allowed to happen," lamented Cole.

A number of e-cigarettes manufactured are being advertised as not setting-off airplane smoke alarms like what the conventional ignited cigarettes do. Transport Canada, admits that they don't have specific policies banning the use of electronic cigarettes during flights. They are leaving the decision to the airlines. Spokespersons of some airlines like WestJet and Porter admit that they are not fully aware if the "vapour" from e-cigarettes can be detected by smoke detectors.

Air Canada specifically cited that it is part of their rules to prohibit the use of e-cigarettes on aircraft. The same goes with West Jet. However, in the case of Air Canada, this was not announced as part of their flight protocols. And what created more disappointment for the complaining passengers is that flight attendants obviously saw what happened and they just allowed the act.

In 2011, the US Department of Transportation officially banned the use of electronic cigarettes given the unknown dangers it can cause. In 1994, Canada was one of the countries in the world who required smoke-free domestic and international flights for all carriers. So why are there still instances of passengers "vaping" during flights?

Calgary Eyeopener's Medical Columnist Dr. Raj Bhawdwaj said "There's no clear consensus on whether e-cigarettes are safe but their perception as a safer alternative to traditional smoking could undo much of what anti-smoking advocates have fought for. A lot of people are saying they are allowed to 'vape' because they're not smoking, and the anti-tobacco lobby is up in arms about this."

To date, a number of airlines have started educating their passengers that the use of e-cigarettes during flights are not allowed. Senator Frank Lautenberg, who wrote the 1987 law banning smoking on airplanes mentioned that it is expected that there are passengers who would interpret flight attendant instructions to mean that the e-cigarette, being a a "device", would only be prohibited when other electronic devices were not allowed during takeoff and landing. "There had been confusion over their use and wanted to make sure officials were solidly opposed to opening the door to e-smoking on planes. Some e-cigarette distributors have touted the convenience of the smokeless cigarettes because they can be "smoked" anywhere traditional cigarettes are not allowed."

According to Federal Aviation Act's regulations, "smoking lit cigarettes or anything else that produces smoke or flame is prohibited onboard most commercial aircraft". However, up until now, the FAA has not yet issued a guideline for or against the use of electronic cigarettes during flights as they leave all decisions to the individual airlines. So some airlines, like in te case of Air Canada, who are not announcing the prohibition on the use of this device at the beginning of their flights, are expected to encounter the same issue unless they illuminate their no-smoking signs and clarify that that includes the use of electronic cigarettes.

E-Cigarettes on the Rise: Why Sales Figures Are Growing Amidst Heating Debate over Its Health Risks

There has been a growing number of people who are shifting to the use of electronic cigarettes in Canada amidst rising concerns about health risks and non-approval from Health Canada for smoking cessation.

Ottawa, ON -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/02/2014 -- The introduction of electronic cigarettes created debate due to its health risks. A growing number of people are using e-cigarettes to help them quit tobacco and cigarettes amidst non-approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its smoking cessation. While some consider them as beneficial since they help traditional smokers quit, there are still a number of people who worry that since e-cigarettes deliver a vapour with nicotine, using it would promote nicotine addiction. Users of e-cigarettes believe that the vapor would be much less toxic than cigarette because there is no tar from tobacco incineration thus it addresses the issues with smoking. However, little information are given to users on its long-term effect. Health Canada has taken the necessary steps to get a handle on the booming market for the controversial devices.

Health Canada's Controlled Substances and Tobacco Directorate suggested to grant a contract amounting to $232,000 to Montreal firm AC Nielsen to generate historical data for the past two (2) years on retail sales of electronic cigarettes in Canada including the current monthly totals. The data will be crucial for Health Canada to be updated on the number of type of electronic cigarettes and nicotine substitute treatment products that are being sold in retail stores involving companies, as well as their sales trends. The data would also be used by the Federal Tobacco Control Strategy for their current project of tracking tobacco-related development and rising concerns and commitment to push the downward trend in smoking frequency in Canada.

Statistics revealed that the lowest rate of smokers in Canada was in 2012 with 16% smokers from the age group 15 years old and above. There has been a significant improvement on this as compared to 2001's 25%.

Sales of e-cigarettes in the United States since its introduction in North America in 2007 has ballooned to nearly $2 billion yearly. This figure is expected to zoom up to $10 billion across the globe by 2017. In Canada, there has been no reliable source of such sales figures amidst the popularity of e-cigarettes.

The existence of electronic cigarettes in Canada is still in a mandated grey area. Though they are being sold legally, Health Canada, still, has not approved the so-called "nicotine e-cigarettes". In fact, on 2009, Canadians were warned about its use due to the health risks that these e-cigarettes pose. Until now, e-cigarretes in Canada haven't been fully evaluated by Health Canada for quality, efficacy, and safety. The department has in fact ordered businesses offering electronic cigarettes to stop selling e-cigarettes with nicotine cartridges.

Using electronic cigarettes in Canada has become a major public concern, as agreed by Dr. Martin Laliberte, Director of the Canadian Association of Poison Control Centres. According to her, in Canada, there had been subjective reports suggesting e-cigarettes as a cause in poisoning, the trend that the United States of America has been experiencing. All five poison control centres in Canada has generated reports that poisoning due to the use of electronic cigarettes is becoming frequent.

The Canadian Public Health Association, in their most recent study, admit that they are challenged with authenticating the claims about the health risks that e-cigarettes pose due to their limited data. The scarcity of solid evidences should be favored by sensible approach on how sale of e-cigarettes are being managed.
