Spring Into Health Fair to Offer Free Exhibits, Demonstrations, and Medical Screenings

Featuring free exhibits, demonstrations, and medical screenings, the Spring Into Health Fair will be held at the Hylton Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington on April 9. Dynamics Physical Therapy is pleased to announce it will be participating along with other sponsoring practices.

Haymarket, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/24/2016 -- On April 9, the Spring Into Health Fair will be held between the hours of 10am and 2pm at the Hylton Branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington in Woodbridge, VA. By pre-registering now, Prince William County residents can expect free exhibits, demonstrations, and medical screenings, which can help them protect both their and their loved ones' health and happiness. As one of the sponsoring practices, Dynamics Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that it will be setting up an exhibitor booth, where interested individuals can visit for mobility screening as well as questions about mobility-related issues.

Of course, Dynamics Physical Therapy will not be the only practice providing medical screenings as well as other forms of preventative healthcare. For example, the Sentara Healthcare Mammovan will be performing mammograms with an appointment, which should come as welcome news to women who are 45 or older. Similarly, families with young children might be interested in a pediatric dentistry assessment conducted by BriteStar Pediatric Dentistry, while families with seniors might be more interested in either a memory screening from Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) or a medication review from Dr. Daniel Darfour of One Hanson Pharmacy. Other examples include but are not limited to medical screenings for balance, blood pressure, and even concussions, meaning that there will be a wide range of exhibitor booths catering to a wide range of people who are in need.

With that said, the Spring Into Health Fair will also be featuring a number of demonstrations intended to provide attendees with the information that they need to make the right choices for their health and happiness. Some of these demonstrations will be informational, while others will be more hands-on. For example, the Boys and Girls Club of America will be holding the Triple Play Kids Fitness Zone in the auxiliary gym of the building, which will teach children between the ages of 5 and 18 how to incorporate physical activities into their daily routines through a series of fitness challenges that will be as entertaining as they are educational. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that the event will also come with a Wii Van, a moon bounce, healthy snacks, and even chair massages, which should be more than enough to keep the whole family interested for the entire duration.

Prince William County residents interested in the Spring Into Health Fair should make sure to pre-register as soon as possible. Not only will they be assisting the event-holders as well as sponsoring practices such as Dynamics Physical Therapy with making the event as successful as possible, they will also be receiving an additional chance to win a $100 VISA gift card as well as other great door prizes.

Dynamics Physical Therapy Participating in 2nd Annual Spring Into Health Fair

Dynamics Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that it will be a sponsor as well as an exhibitor of the 2nd Annual Spring Into Health Fair, which it hopes will prove beneficial to the public.

Haymarket, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/16/2016 -- On April 6, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington - Hylton Branch will be hosting the 2nd Annual Spring Into Health Fair, which will be open free of charge to interested members of the public. Like its location suggests, the event is a collaboration between Project Mend-A-House, the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, and other interested organizations. For example, Dynamics Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that it will be sponsoring as well as exhibiting at the 2nd Annual Spring Into Health Fair.

Given its name, it should come as no surprise to learn that the Spring Into Health Fair is meant to promote the health of local residents, which include those living in the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park as well as the rest of Prince William County. Instead, what should interest said individuals is the fact that the event will be featuring free health screenings, information sessions, as well as other activities of interest.

There will be free health screenings available for a wide range of issues. For example, Dynamics Physical Therapy will be handling balance and mobility-related issues, while other practices will be handling everything from vision and hearing to blood pressure. By showing up, local residents will have a chance to ask serious questions of medical professionals with no chance of being pressured into anything. Better still, if they pay attention to the information sessions that will be held at the same event, they can arm themselves with the information needed to keep themselves as well as their loved ones happy and healthy. For people who love participation bonuses, there will even be healthy snacks plus the chance to win door prizes such as one of five $100 VISA gift cards.

Participation in the 2nd Annual Spring Into Health Fair is one of the ways that Dynamics Physical Therapy shows its care and consideration for its patients as well as their community.

Dynamics Physical Therapy Celebrates 10 Years of Providing Physical Therapy in Gainesville, VA

The staff and doctors of Dynamics Physical Therapy are planning a party to mark the anniversary of the office in Heritage Village Plaza.

Haymarket, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/16/2015 -- Dynamics Physical Therapy has been providing physical therapy in Gainesville, VA for 10 years. The doctors and staff are thankful for the decade of service they have been able to provide, and they look forward to another 10 years of helping residents in Gainesville with their physical ailments and injuries. To mark the occasion, the office is planning a 10-year anniversary party.

"The past 10 years have gone by quickly," said owner of Dynamics Physical Therapy, Dr. David Sahley. "Establishing a state-of-the-art physical therapy practice in Gainesville has been a lot of work, but helping residents of Gainesville get the physical therapy they need has been extremely rewarding."

When Dynamics Physical Therapy moved into its Gainesville office 10 years ago, it was little more than a vision. Through the hard work of the staff and doctors, that vision has become a reality. Today, Dynamics Physical Therapy is offering an array of services, ranging from treatments for neck pain and scoliosis to post-concussion and post-surgical rehab, at its state-of-the-art office.

Dynamics Physical Therapy is especially proud of the practice's decade of service, because the doctors and staff have developed significant relationships with many of their patients over the years. To ensure the highest level of care, each patient works one-on-one with a specific therapist throughout the course of their treatment. Each time they come to the office, they see the same physical therapist. Over the course of a treatment, the doctors and staff often get to know patients and develop meaningful relationships with them.

When asked about the party, one staff member described how the office plans to celebrate. "There are not many definitive plans yet," she said. "There will be refreshments, though, and everyone here will take some time to hang out. The doctors and staff will likely share some stories from the past 10 years, and there might be a few comments on the next decade."

However the practice ends up celebrating, Dynamics Physical Therapy's party will mark a meaningful anniversary. The doctors and staff hope this is just one of several decade-marking anniversary parties.

National Physical Therapy Month Comes to Dynamics Physical Therapy

October is National Physical Therapy Month, and this year's focus is on the healthy aging process, which local Northern Virginia physical therapist practice, Dynamics Physical Therapy, notes is all about enhancing senior mobility.

Haymarket, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/26/2015 -- Highly regarded physical therapist office, Dynamics Physical Therapy, is getting the word out that October is National Physical Therapy Month, and this year's focus is on the role physical therapy can play in ensuring the healthy aging process.

"We merge a combination of therapeutic approaches from massage to hydrotherapy to simple stretching exercise," said a Dynamics Physical Therapy spokesperson before adding, "The goal of senior physical therapy is to help make the daily tasks of the elderly easier while providing seniors with as much independence as possible."

According to SeniorLiving.org, for elderly patients suffering from chronic pain or those recovering from an injury or surgical procedure, physical therapy not only helps reduce pain, but also assists in restoring coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility.

Beginning in 1981 under the auspices of the American Physical Therapy Association, National Physical Therapy Month shines a spotlight on specific health topics in addition to celebrating all aspects of physical therapy during the month. Previous focuses have included such topics as fitness and obesity, lower back pain, posture issues, and injury prevention.

Age related illnesses are on the rise with the increase in age of the American population. Many people over the age of 65 experience incidents of arthritis within the spine without necessarily exhibiting any symptoms of the medical condition, and physical therapy can help ameliorate future pain from manifesting. Additional areas in which physical therapy shows a salubrious effect includes conditions like stroke, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, and Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

"National Physical Therapy Month is an excellent chance for physical therapists to educate the public about the wide range of advantages that physical therapy can have for patients suffering from the effects of aging," said Dynamics Physical Therapy founder, Dr. David Sahley.

Seniors looking to improve their quality of life and full range of mobility are invited to ask their physical therapists what treatment options are available for an array of physical age related conditions.

A native to Scotland, Karen MacLean, having graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 1995, received a BSc (honors) in Physical Therapy. He currently teaches national and local continuing education courses focusing on the spine, extremities, and injury prevention.

In January, Dr. Sahley led an intermediate spinal lecture in New York City. From February 27th until March 1st he is scheduled to be in Jackson, MS, conducting an Essential Peripheral Seminar, which is recommended as the first course in the MAPS series. It covers an introduction to Australian orthopedic manual therapy with an emphasis on effective assessment and treatment of the upper and lower limbs. Dr. Sahley will teach highly specific subjective and objective physical examination techniques.

From March 13th to 15th, Dr. Sahley will be lecturing in Washington, DC, on Stabilization Training and Functional Rehabilitation. This course covers contemporary evidence-based medicine from around the world. Seminar participants will evaluate the fundamentals of each study as well as the parallel philosophies of spinal stabilization. This course may be taken at any time as a single course.

During the 20th-22nd of March, Dr. Sahley will be in White Plains, NY, teaching a Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation Seminar. This course covers various manipulation philosophies, with an emphasis on the approaches of Geoff Maitland, James Cyriax and UK Osteopathic. These three approaches will be compared, contrasted and practiced extensively in lab sessions. The seminar will focus on safety in manipulation and assessment as well as treatment principles.

On April 24th-26th Dr. Sahley returns to Washington, DC, for the Essential Peripheral Seminar. The following month, May 1st-3rd, Dr. Sahley will lead the Differential Assessment and Clinical Reasoning Seminar in New York City. This course incorporates the clinical reasoning techniques taught in previous courses and combines them with more advanced applied techniques.

In May and June, Dr. Sahley will teach an Evidence-Based Orthopedic Diagnostic Evaluation Seminar in New Jersey and Tennessee. Later in the summer he is scheduled to conduct a comprehensive review course in New York City.

Dynamics Physical Therapy Receives Haymarket Lifestyle Magazine Honorable Mention, Second Year in a Row

Dynamics Physical Therapy Group, Inc. is honored by Haymarket Lifestyle Magazine. This is the second year in a row Dynamics Physical Therapy has received this recognition.

Herndon, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/10/2014 -- Haymarket Lifestyle Magazine is a monthly publication that focuses on businesses, events, and people in the Haymarket and Gainesville region of Virginia. Every year, the Piedmont Press and Graphics publication releases a Best of Haymarket. This year, Dynamics Physical Therapy received the Honorable Mention of Best Physical Therapy in Best of Haymarket 2014.

"This is the second year in the row we have received this honor," said Dr. David Sahley, owner of Dynamics Physical Therapy. "We couldn't be prouder that we have been recognized for maintaining and, in fact, raising our standards through this year."

Dynamics Physical Therapy, a therapist-owned and operated practice, has been serving many patients in Northern Virginia for years. Dynamics Physical Therapy offers treatment for a wide variety of conditions. These include acute conditions, such as whiplash and sports injuries, and more chronic problems, like arthritis, gait trouble, spinal and joint pain, and more. With offices located in Gainesville, Haymarket, and Herndon, it is unsurprising that the Haymarket Lifestyle Magazine noted such a distinguished group of professionals.

When asked what he believed contributed to Dynamics Physical Therapy's success, Dr. Sahley referenced the staff. "All of our physical therapists have their doctorates in Physical Therapy," he said. "Additionally, each of our providers also has areas in which he or she is highly specialized. Whatever problem a patient has, there is someone on staff with specialized knowledge and training in that particular area, giving us a wide berth of talent and capacity with which to treat our patients."

Dynamics Physical Therapy also prioritizes ease of access to care, and their attention to each individual. "Patients don't need a prescription using Direct Access– they can always call to make an appointment," said Dr. Sahley. "Additionally, we accept most insurance plans. We make it easy for people to come, and once someone has visited, we always schedule the same therapist to them for every future visit, so that they get consistent, exceptional care. People like this one on one approach for individualized care."

Dr. David Sahley stated he was very pleased with the Best of Haymarket 2014 Honorable Mention. "Hopefully more patients will hear about us –and know that when it comes to choosing a Physical Therapist, they have a choice," he said.

Dr. Dave Sahley of Dynamics Physical Therapy Announces September Teaching Schedule

Experienced spinal specialist Dr. Dave Sahley travels the country to teach about the spine. He will teach two classes this September, one in Georgia and one in Massachusetts.

Herndon, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/10/2014 -- Nationally-recognized Doctor Dave Sahley of Dynamics Physical Therapy, an organization that serves many Virginia cities, stated he is pleased to announce his teaching schedule for the month of September for MAPS. "I love teaching," said Dr. Sahley, "and as a doctor who's been in practice for a long time, I believe it's important to share what I've learned with the medical community."

MAPS, which stands for Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars, offers 11 seminars in the month of September and one COMT (certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist) Examination. MAPS offers training and education on the Maitland Approach, a patient-centric approach that primarily uses the assessment and treatment of a patient's signs and symptoms to develop an effective treatment plan, and the Maitland-Australian Approach, which took the process a step further by combining the latest evidence-based research in Manual Therapy/Physiotherapy.

Dr. Sahley's classes will be taking him outside of Virginia. Both of his September courses are focused on the spine. From September 5th to 7th, he was in Marietta, Georgia teaching MT-2: Essential Spine Seminar. The course was open to physical therapists, medical doctors, and osteopathic doctors, and emphasized the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, with a special focus throughout on management of pain-dominant and stiffness-dominant disorders.

From September 12th to 14th, Dr. Sahley will travel to Boston, Massachusetts. His course will be MT-M: Spinal and Peripheral Manipulation Seminar. The topics to be primarily emphasized will be assessment and treatment, and different kinds of manipulation for treatment of spinal disorders.

"The spine is an important area of focus for me," said Dr. Sahley. "A lot of people go through their entire lives with pain and stiffness in the back and legs as a result of a spinal condition. Doctors who aren't familiar with the principles I will be teaching are unable to help these patients, and the patients lose hope of living a pain-free life. It doesn't have to be this way."

Dynamics Physical Therapy serves patients across Northern Virginia physical therapy with three offices in Haymarket, Gainesville, and Herndon.
Dr. David Sahley Spoke at Stabilization Training and Functional Rehabilitation at NYC Seminar

Herndon, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/29/2014 -- At the beginning of May, Dr. David Sahley, a physician who works with physical therapy patients, had the honor of speaking about stabilization training and functional rehabilitation at a seminar in NYC. The seminar took place between May 2nd and May 4th, and was aimed to educate the participants.

The Stabilization Training and Functional Rehabilitation Seminar uses evidence-based medicine from worldwide sources to build its curriculum. Students study a variety of theories surrounding spinal stabilization, and instructors guide participants through ways to apply the theories in real-life situations with patients. The seminar also offers a practicum in labs where students can actively practice graduated stabilization techniques. These techniques include cervical and lumbar spine adjustment, shoulder, knee, and ankle injury, as well as also post-surgical concerns and specific diagnoses.

Spine immobilization was covered extensively at the seminar and is particularly important in emergency pre-hospital medical situations, where immobilization devices such as a spinal board should be deployed immediately. In-hospital judgment must be made based on the current condition of the patient, particularly if they are in shock, intoxicated, or otherwise agitated and unable to stay still. If transfer to secondary care units is necessary, split-scoop stretchers and vacuum mattresses are more appropriate than spinal boards.

Dr. David Sahley of Dynamics Physical Therapy to Speak at Intermediate Spinal Seminar in Atlanta

Herndon, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/29/2014 -- The Intermediate Spinal Seminar was held May 16th through May 18th in Atlanta, Georgia and one of the speakers was Dr. David Sahley, an expert in physical therapy.

The Intermediate Spinal Seminar helps participants refine their approach to subjective and physical examinations. It extends knowledge in treatment of cervical, lumbar, and thoracic spine adjustments, and examines specific movement tests both physiological and accessory. Emphasis is placed on selection of technique, treatment progression, and converting passive techniques into active exercise.

Over 80% of the population suffers from lower back pain alone. Two-thirds will experience neck pain. Most commonly, herniated discs, muscle strain, ligament sprain, or injury to the spinal cord causes lower back pain. The discs between vertebrae in the neck can degenerate, causing neck pain.

Upper back pain is most commonly caused by muscle strain. However, Dr. Sahley says that there can be many other factors that contribute to back pain, particularly if it is chronic. Back pain can be extremely debilitating, and if the pain doesn't go away after a few days (as is typical with a muscle strain), it is important to seek professional help.

Dr. David Sahley is the owner of Dynamics Physical Therapy. In addition to being a renowned lecturer, he is an experienced physical therapist in his own right and has helped hundreds of patients since his graduation from physical therapy school in 2000. He currently holds a license of Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and is a senior instructor for Maitland Physiotherapy Seminars. Dr. Sahley is also the co-founder and Vice President of Teardrops to Rainbows, which is a non-profit that provides support and financial assistance to children with cancer and their families. Individuals who are suffering from back pain are encouraged to see a physical therapist to receive a full diagnosis to begin recovery.

Dynamics Physical Therapy Had Successful Essential Peripheral Seminar

The Essential Peripheral Seminar, taught by Dr. David Sahley, offers participants the opportunity to learn about Australian orthopedic manual therapy. The seminar was the first in the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminar series.

Herndon, VA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/09/2014 -- The Essential Peripheral Seminar was a weekend-long event from April 25 - 27, 2014 in Washington, D.C. Dr. David Sahley (DPT, OCS, COMT) of Dynamics Physical Therapy led the seminar, which was an introduction to Australian orthopedic manual therapy. At 21 hours in length, the course counts towards 2.5 continuing education units (CEUs). The primary focus of the seminar was on accurately assessing and effectively treating the ankle, foot, knee, hip, elbow, wrist, hand, and shoulder. Participants had the opportunity to extensively practice the techniques in lab sessions. Lab clothes were required for these sessions. Past participants have benefitted immensely from the lab-based format. An attendant of one of last year's events, C. Balton-McPhail, had this to say: "70% lab-based allowed the hands-on skills to be practiced on real individuals, instructor was very personable and took time to be sure the subject matter was absorbed. This was a great course! It gave practical applications that could both be used immediately and after increased practice."

The Essential Peripheral Seminar was open to physical therapists, occupational therapists, doctors of osteopathic medicine, and medical doctors. During the course, participants were taught the proper application of peripheral joint passive movement, as well as how to differentiate between abnormal resistance and normal resistance against passive movement. Additionally, they learned how to apply Maitland's clinical reasoning model for treating stiffness and pain. Other course objectives included effective examination techniques, applying clinical assessments, performing differential diagnosis, and the ability to treat orthopedic conditions quickly and effectively.

The course objectives are intended to provide physiotherapists with skills to use immediately with their patients. Past participant D. Evans summed it up by saying, "The application to patient care is immediate when returning to clinic. This has been the most applicable series of seminars I have attended in 18 years of practice." Mahlon K. Stewart (PT, DPT, GCS) added, "I can apply all concepts covered into my practice immediately. Finally a course that will enhance the way I approach every patient."

The seminar was the first course in the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminar (MAPS) series. Through lectures and lab sessions, MAPS provides training on the Maitland-Australian approach to physical therapy. The Maitland-Australian approach focuses on integrating the latest physiotherapy research with orthopedic manual treatments. This approach was developed by physiotherapist Geoffrey Maitland in the 1950s.
