Lead Foil is a form of lead sheet that is thin enough to be easily cut and formed using shears. Lead foil can be stamped or formed into almost any shape so that it can be placed around any area that needs protection. Lead foil is often supplied backed with pressure sensitive adhesive or vinyl to aid the application of the product.

In the oil rig application the lead foil is used in several places. Typically, the lead foil provides resistance to corrosion from the atmosphere, wide ranges in temperature and the harsh salt water environment that is experienced in this industry.

Lead flashing has been used in roofing systems to eliminate leaks at intersections and roof edges. Particularly in the case of historic building restoration, where it is necessary to replace existing flashing, it is most important to match both the style and functionality of the original roofing structure

The most common locations for lead roof flashing include Roof joints, valley flashing, chimney flashing, and roof penetrations such as lead roof jacks.

Lead flashing materials are popular particularly in northern climes as they are soft and easy to bend to shape, durable and weather resistant. Lead flashing is also able to accommodate movement between adjoining components.

Lead chimney flashing is particularly well suited to the task, since it easily accommodates any movement caused by the settling of the chimney foundation which is often separate from the main house foundation.
