HPV May Cause Giant Anal Warts; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

HPV can cause a large cauliflower-like mass with an irregular warty surface localized in the anal region. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/30/2015 -- "Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a study, which was published in the peer reviewed medical journal, Pharmacology & Pharmacy, and which discusses natural, antiviral remedies against HPV infections." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

The human papillomavirus (HPV) can, in some cases, cause extremely large anal warts. As Dr. Guttadauro and colleagues wrote in a study, "perianal giant condyloma acuminatum is a ... condition related to human papillomavirus infection and characterized by a ... cauliflower-like mass with an irregular warty surface localized in the anal region." (1) Dr. Guttadauro is from the Universita degli Studi Milano-Bicocca in Milan, Italy. Dr. Jennifer Lowney wrote that anal warts "are a condition that affects the area around and inside the anus. They may also affect the skin of the genital area. They first appear as tiny spots or growths, perhaps as small as the head of a pin, and may grow quite large and cover the entire anal area. Usually, they do not cause pain or discomfort to afflicted individuals and patients may be unaware that the warts are present. Some patients will experience symptoms, such as itching, bleeding, mucus discharge and/or a feeling of a lump or mass in the anal area." (2) Dr. Lowney stressed that HPV, which causes anal warts is "considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD) … (but) … you do not have to have anal intercourse to develop anal warts." (2)

How can you be sure that you have anal warts?

"Diagnosis is made by the doctor, who inspects skin around the anus and checks the anal canal with an anoscope (a short instrument inserted into the anus)." (2)

Are there treatments available against the HPV, which causes anal warts?

"There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus. The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (3) In contrast, the study published in the medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, discusses the formula of a natural antiviral that was shown to reduce HPV symptoms.

"We recommend that individuals infected with the HPV virus download the study and bring it to their doctors." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Painful Mouth Sores Can Be Caused by EBV

The Epstein Barr Virus can cause “age-related EBV-positive mucocutaneous ulcers.” (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/29/2015 -- "Infected with the Epstein Barr Virus (EBV)? The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends talking to your doctor about a study, which was published in the peer reviewed medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, and which discussed natural antiviral remedies against EBV." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

The Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), which is virus in the herpes family, can cause painful mouth sores and ulcers. In fact, according to a report, "mouth ulcers are a common symptom of poor immunity, and are frequently seen in Epstein Barr patients." (2) Symptoms can include "cracks in the corner of the mouth, a sore tongue and difficulty swallowing. These symptoms can cause a great deal of pain and discomfort." (2) EBV causes these symptoms most often in older individuals. As Dr. Magalhaes and colleagues wrote, "elderly patients who develop an unexplained, persistent ulcer of the oral mucosa should have the lesion examined for EBV." (1) Dr. Magalhaes is with the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Dr. Magalhaes described the symptoms of an Epstein-Barr Virus in one elderly patient like this: "An 81-year-old lady presented to her dentist with a 3-month history of a painful, nonhealing ulcer on the left hard palate … she was a nonsmoker and did not consume alcohol. Besides the presence of a painful oral ulcer, she was well and had no systemic complaints. Clinical examination revealed a round, well-circumscribed, deep ulceration measuring 3.5 × 3.5 cm ... the ulcer had a slightly raised indurated border and a tan-white granular base. There were no extraoral lesions, lymphadenopathy or hepatosplenomegaly." (1) In other words, an older woman came into the dentist's office with a painful sore in her mouth that was not healing by itself. The sore was deep, and when tested, tissue inside the sore was found to be positive for EBV infection.

The CDC notes that "Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), also known as human herpesvirus 4, is a member of the herpes virus family. It is one of the most common human viruses. EBV is found all over the world. Most people get infected with EBV at some point in their lives." (3) The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that in light of the medical evidence, infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural, antiviral supplements was designed to help the immune system target the latent EBV.

Click to learn more about EBV symptoms.

Older individuals should especially take note of sores in the mouth, and get tested for Epstein-Barr Virus infections. As Dr. Magalhaes wrote, "elderly patients who develop an unexplained, persistent ulcer of the oral mucosa should have the lesion examined for EBV. A medical history should be taken to determine if the patient is on immunosuppressive medications." (1)

What treatments are available for EBV infections?

"A few antiviral drugs are available that were shown to inhibit EBV replication in cell culture. These drugs include the acyclic nucleoside analogues aciclovir, ganciclovir, penciclovir, and their respective prodrugs valaciclovir, valganciclovir and famciclovir, the acyclic nucleotide analogues cidofovir and adefovir, and the pyrophosphate analogue foscarnet. However, clinical studies have shown that these drugs are mostly ineffective in humans." (4) There are also natural antiviral products that studies show to be safe and effective in reducing EBV symptoms. The study mentioned above that was published in Pharmacology & Pharmacy is one such study.

Can Kissing Spread the Herpes Virus?; the CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

The answer is yes, HSV-1 is usually passed from person to person by kissing. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/29/2015 -- "Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1, or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a study, which was published in the peer reviewed medical journal, Pharmacology & Pharmacy. The study discusses natural, antiviral remedies that were shown to effectively reduce HSV symptoms." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

The medical evidence shows that the oral herpes virus (usually HSV-1) can easily be transmitted through kissing. HSV-1 normally causes cold sores and fever blisters. It is important for the public to realize, however, that HSV-1 can be spread from the mouth to the genitals. WebMD notes that "HSV-1 can also spread from the mouth to the genitals during oral sex (fellatio, cunnilingus, analingus)." (1)

The same is true in reverse. It should be noted that HSV-2, which normally causes genital herpes can also infect the mouth, and can be spread through the saliva. "HSV-2 is most often passed by vaginal sex and anal sex. But just as HSV-1 can infect the genitals and cause genital herpes, HSV-2 can pass from one person's genitals to another person's mouth, resulting in oral herpes." (1)

Click to learn more about HSV symptoms.

The CBCD points out that infection with the herpes virus can happen, as healthline.com notes, "from general interactions such as eating from the same utensils, sharing lip balm, or kissing. The virus spreads more quickly when an infected person is experiencing an outbreak. Additionally, it is possible to get genital herpes from HSV-1 if the individual has had cold sores and performed sexual activities during that time." (2)

What treatments are available for herpes infections?

"Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day." (3). There are also the remedies discussed in the study mentioned above, which was published in Pharmacology & Pharmacy. The CBCD recommends printing up the study, and showing it to your doctor.

Non-Stop Hiccups Can Be Caused by Herpes Zoster; the CBCD Examines the Medical Evidence

The varicella zoster virus can cause a wide range of prodromal symptoms including fever, intense weariness, and hiccups. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/28/2015 -- "Infected with the varicella zoster virus (the virus that causes chickenpox and shingles)? The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a study published in the peer reviewed medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy. The study discusses effective, natural remedies designed to help reduce VZV symptoms." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

The shingles virus (VZV) can cause non-stop hiccups. A hiccup is an involuntary spasm of the diaphragm and respiratory organs, with a sudden closure of the glottis and a characteristic sound like that of a cough. The varicella zoster virus (VZV) is a herpes virus, which causes both chickenpox and shingles. When this virus causes shingles (also known as herpes zoster or HZ), it can also sometimes cause hiccups that do not go away on their own. This usually occurs during the prodrome (the time just before typical VZV symptoms develop). As Dr. Reddy and colleagues wrote "motor symptoms such as hiccups occur … in the prodrome of HZ." (1)

Dr. Reddy described one such case like this: "an otherwise healthy 29-year-old male patient presented with a three-day history of unilateral, grouped vesicles (beginning blisters) over the left side of neck and upper chest. Two days prior to the skin eruption, he developed persistent hiccups which occurred relentlessly." (1)

Click to learn more about shingles symptoms.

The CDC notes that the varicella zoster virus (VZV), which is a herpes virus, causes both chickenpox and shingles. "After a person recovers from chickenpox, the virus stays dormant (inactive) in the body. For reasons that are not fully known, the virus can reactivate years later, causing shingles." (2) Additionally, the CDC adds that "almost 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles, also known as zoster or herpes zoster, in their lifetime. There are an estimated 1 million cases of shingles each year in this country. Anyone who has recovered from chickenpox may develop shingles; even children can get shingles. However the risk of shingles increases as you get older. About half of all cases occur in men and women 60 years old or older." (See the CDC, last reviewed on May 1, 2014) (2)

Are there treatments currently on the market, which target the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)?

Yes there are.

Zostavax is a vaccine that may reduce the risk of developing a shingles outbreak, and decrease the long-term pain from post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). In adults vaccinated at age 60 years or older, however, protection from the vaccine decreases within the first 5 years after vaccination. (2)

There are also antiviral drugs, such as Zovirax or Valtrex. However, these medications, when effective, only work to shorten the time of the shingles outbreak. They are ineffective against the latent VZV virus. (2)The CBCD therefore recommends that individuals talk to their doctors about the study mentioned above, which was published in Pharmacology & Pharmacy.

Individuals can print up the study, and show it to their doctors.

Human Cytomegalovirus Can Cause Blindness; the CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

The human cytomegalovirus (CMV) may be a cause of acute retinal necrosis (ARN), a rare but devastating condition mostly seen in men. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/28/2015 -- "Infected with the cytomegalovirus (CMV)? The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a study published in the peer reviewed medical journal, Pharmacology & Pharmacy. The study discusses effective, natural remedies against the CMV." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

According to research, the CMV can cause blindness in men who have a healthy immune system. (1) Dr. Ian Y. L. Yeung and colleagues wrote in an article for International Opthamology Clinics that "acute retinal necrosis (ARN) is a … devastating condition that usually occurs in immunocompetent individuals. (ARN is an inflammatory condition of the eye that can cause retinal detachment and blindness.)The causative agents are thought to be ... cytomegalovirus (CMV) … (and) … male sex was a risk factor for severe vision loss at 6 and 12 months." (1) Another CMV caused eye condition is also more prevalent in men. "CMV retinitis (CMVR) is a similar viral-mediated infectious uveitides that is more common in men … 60% to 80% of these CMVR patients are male." (1) CMV retinitis is characterized by lesions on the eye, and it can also lead to blindness. "Similar to ARN ... a secondary retinal detachment can occur ." (1)

Click to learn more about CMV symptoms.

When CMV causes acute retinal necrosis, "viral particles in the retina ... provoke an intense inflammatory response ... characteristic inflammation of the retinal arterioles occurs, resulting in ... necrosis of dependent, downstream retinal tissue … approximately 50% of patients will develop retinal detachments in the affected eye after ARN; the majority of retinal detachments occur within 3 months of the onset of ARN." (3) In other words, the virus invades different parts of the eye, which causes massive inflammation. This inflammation severely damages the eye, killing the tissue. This leads to a detachment of the retina, eventually resulting in blindness.

What treatments are available against the cytomegalovirus?
"Several drugs are approved for the treatment of CMV infections in immunocompromised individuals. These drugs include ganciclovir, its oral prodrug valganciclovir, cidofovir, foscavir and fomivirsen. However, the use of these drugs in immunocompetent individuals is limited by their toxicity, poor oral bioavailability, modest efficacy, and the development of drug resistance." (2) There are also two natural CMV remedies, which are discussed in the study mentioned above, which was published in Pharmacology & Pharmacy.

The Voice Box Can Be Attacked by the Herpes Virus; the CBCD Reviews a Study

Herpes infections of the larynx (voice box) can be easily misdiagnosed. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/27/2015 -- Infected with the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a study published in the peer reviewed medical journal, Pharmacology & Pharmacy, which discusses effective natural remedies.

The study can be found here:
http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=36101

The oral herpes virus (usually HSV-1) does not normally attack the larynx, or voice box. However, when it does, it does so suddenly and without warning. Moreover, it is hard to diagnose because the virus causes symptoms that imitate those caused by other disease causing organisms. For example, Dr. Ali Sanei-Moghaddam and colleagues wrote in a study that "laryngeal disorders provoked by the herpes virus are characterized by the large spectrum of presentations and polymorphisms, and can simulate mucous lesions, laryngeal tuberculosis, fungal infection, syphilis, abscess or non-specific laryngeal inflammation …" (1) To make matters worse, when the herpes virus attacks the larynx, it can sometimes spread along the peripheral nerves and within the central nervous system. (2)

The CBCD reminds the public that HSV-1 may only cause cold sores and fever blisters, or it can cause conditions that are much more severe. As the study mentioned above noted, "HSV is one among a spectrum of viruses known to affect the upper aerodigestive tract, although it is usually confined to the lips and oral cavity. It is transmitted via saliva, and it can produce a constellation of symptoms in its host that range from vague malaise to life-threatening illness." (1)

The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day." (3)

The CBCD recommends that individuals who are infected with a latent herpes virus, talk to the doctor about a study published in the peer reviewed medical journal, Pharmacology & Pharmacy, which discusses effective natural remedies.

Dentists Should Talk to Their Patients About HPV and Oral Cancer; the CBCD Examines Dental Protocols

Having a comprehensive plan to educate dental patients about HPV and oral cancer is a growing need. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/26/2015 -- There is a growing need to educate patients about the association between HPV and oral cancers. According to a report, dental professionals rarely discuss HPV related oral cancers with their patients. (1) This is despite the fact that, "in medical centers across the United States, HPV is now responsible for more than half of all oropharyngeal cancers diagnosed. According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, HPV is now the leading cause of all oropharyngeal cancers." (1)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) therefore recommends that individuals ask their dentist or oral hygienist if they do oral cancer screenings. Additionally, the Center recommends that infected individuals introduce their dentists to a study on natural remedies that were shown to reduce symptoms of HPV. One such study was published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy.

The study can be read here:
http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=36101

Research shows that worldwide rates of oral HPV infection and resulting head and neck cancers are rising. Dr. Forte and colleagues wrote in a study that "recently, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been causally associated with a subset of head and neck cancers, particularly oropharyngeal cancer." (2) Dr. Forte and colleagues are from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.

A report from the Oral Cancer Foundation states that "HPV oral and oropharyngeal cancers are harder to discover than tobacco related cancers because the symptoms are not always obvious to the individual who is developing the disease, or to professionals that are looking for it." (3)

Even though oral HPV symptoms can be hard to recognize, if you notice any of the following, a trip to the doctor is recommended: "It could be a sore spot on the gum, or cheek, or on your tongue. Is it a red patch? Is it a white patch? Is it an ulcer that's just not healing … most bumps or sores in the mouth are not cancer, but if you notice any changes in your oral health tell your dentist, especially if the problem doesn't go away." (4)

Are there treatments available against the HPV?

"There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus. The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (5) In contrast some natural remedies were specifically designed to help the immune system target the latent virus.

The Center recommends that healthcare professionals, including dentists, read the study located here:

Rheumatoid Arthritis May Be Caused by Herpes Viruses; the CBCD Examines the Medical Evidence

Herpes viruses have all been linked to the development of rheumatoid arthritis. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/23/2015 -- "Infected with a herpes virus? (HSV-1, HSV-2, VZV, or EBV?) The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a study that discusses natural remedies for each of them." Greg Bennett, CBCD

The medical evidence shows that viruses in the herpes family are strongly linked to the development of various forms of arthritis. (1) For example, Medscape notes that the Epstein-Barr virus ... is usually associated with polyarthralgia (aches in the joints, joint pains ) … Varicella-zoster virus (VZV) … may develop into pauciarticular arthritis (a joint condition where only a few joints are involved) … (and) Herpes simplex virus (HSV) or Cytomegalovirus (CMV) … may cause a form of arthritis in those who have had a bone marrow transplant. (1)

In a recent study, Dr. Burgos and colleagues wrote that "DNA from varicella zoster virus was found in … 33% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and in 45% of patients with axial spondyloarthritis but not in patients with osteoarthritis. Also, DNA from herpes simplex viruses 1 and 2 was found both in the blood and in the synovial fluid (fluid found in the cavities of synovial joints ) from 33% of patients with rheumatoid arthritis." (2) Dr. Burgos is from the Rheumatology Department, Hospital General de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.

The Johns Hopkins Arthritis Center notes that arthritis "can lead to joint destruction, deformity, and loss of function. Swelling of the small joints, especially in the hands and feet, is the hallmark of the disease, but most joints in the body can become affected. In addition to the joints, other manifestations of the disease can be seen including subcutaneous nodules, eye inflammation, lowering of the white blood count, and lung disease." (3) The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that in light of the medical evidence, individuals talk to their doctors about a post-marketing clinical study that examines the formula of natural remedies against latent viruses.

Is there any treatment for Arthritis caused by viruses?

"The goal of treatment now aims toward achieving the lowest possible level of arthritis disease activity and remission if possible, minimizing joint damage, and enhancing physical function and quality of life. The optimal treatment ... requires a comprehensive program that combines medical, social, and emotional support for the patient … treatment options include medications, reduction of joint stress, physical and occupational therapy, and surgical intervention." (3)

The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day." (4)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) therefore recommends informing one's doctor about a post-marketing clinical study that discusses herpes infections (and infections caused by other latent viruses), and effective natural remedies.

Men and Women Can Both Be Infected with HPV; the CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

“The risk of HPV infection is exactly the same in men and women,” according to the South African Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/22/2015 -- "Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD), recommends bringing a new study on HPV remedies to your doctor's attention." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

The South African Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists argues that "vaccinating boys as well as girls for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) would have a dual advantage as it would protect both men and their female partners from infection." (1) Dr. Hennie Botha noted that "Although women have a much higher risk of developing cancer than men, the virus also causes cancer in men. About one in every four head and neck cancers are associated with HPV … (and) ... the risk of HPV infection is exactly the same in men and women." (1) Dr. Botha is the Head of gynaecological oncology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

When it comes to prevention, Dr. Shabir Madhi said that "men are the ones who transmit HPV to women. "If you want to interrupt the circulation of the virus sooner, then you should be targeting boys as well. But in addition to that there're also complications of HPV infection in boys, men can develop diseases like penile or throat cancer, as well as genital warts, because of HPV." (1) Dr. Madhi is the The head of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases in South Africa.

The CBCD recommends that men talk to their physicians about two clinically proven products, which were shown to reduce symptoms of an HPV infection in two separate studies that followed FDA guidelines.

Those studies can be found here:

http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=36101

and

http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=44234

The formula of these products was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with the HPV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with (the formula)." (2) The study authors also wrote that "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (2)

New HPV infections are found in up to 39% of men every year. In men with healthy immune systems, HPV infections are cleared in 6 months or longer. However, in about 10% of all cases, HPV infections will persist. This can cause a variety of serious health problems. (3). For men, an HPV infection can lead to conditions such as: genital warts, penile, anal, and oropharyngeal cancer (head and neck cancer) (3).

The CDC notes that "HPV may … be passed on during oral sex and genital-to-genital contact. HPV can be passed on between straight and same-sex partners-even when the infected partner has no signs or symptoms." (4).

Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (2) In contrast, the studies mentioned above discuss two products, which were designed to target the latent HPV.

"We recommend that men of all ages practice safe sex, and bring the studies mentioned above to their doctors' attention." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

European Health Authorities Investigate HPV Vaccines; the CBCD Reviews a Report

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is launching an investigation into the safety of the Cervarix, Gardasil, Gardasil 9, and Silgard vaccines. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/21/2015 -- "Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The CBCD recommends talking to your doctor about a remedy discussed in several new clinical studies" - Greg Bennett, CBCD

European health regulators announced an investigation into the safety of all HPV vaccines after receiving many complaints regarding dangerous side effects. According to some of the families involved, "Previously healthy teenagers have suffered fits, extreme tiredness or even been left wheelchair-bound. Official figures show the HPV vaccination programme has drawn 8,228 reports of suspected side-effects since being launched in 2008, almost as much as all other routine jabs put together." (2) In beginning its safety review, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said in a statement that "The current review will look at available data with a focus on rare reports of two conditions: complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS, a chronic pain condition affecting the limbs) and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS, a condition where the heart rate increases abnormally after sitting or standing up, causing symptoms such as dizziness and fainting, as well as headache, chest pain and weakness). (3)

Additionally, some families reported that "Parents are not being given enough information about potential side-effects of the vaccine … girls who fall ill after vaccination are not being taken seriously by GPs (General Physicians) when parents suggest the illness could be vaccine-related. Jackie Fletcher, of pressure group Jabs, said: 'Previously fit and healthy young girls have developed seizures or viral fatigue, some have lost the ability to walk. And years on, some have still not recovered.'" (4)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) points out that while many governments have approved the HPV vaccine, still there is a minority of experts urging caution. For example, Dr. Uzi Beller, chief professor of obstetrics/gynecology at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Israel, urged the medical community to be cautious in regards to HPV vaccination. "I want to see fundamental studies proving efficacy, and they do not exist." (See the Jerusalem Post, from September 21, 2013) (5)

The vaccines, Beller said, "were tested on mostly white women attending colleges and university - mostly from developed countries and healthy. The data were based on a relatively short term follow-up period. What is known does not yet justify widespread vaccination of healthy girls." (5) In addition, Dr. Beller said that "there is no evidence that prophylactic (preventative) vaccination against HPV types 16 and 18 reduces the incidence of cervical cancer." As the vaccine costs $100 to $360 for three doses in wealthy countries, it is completely out of the reach of developing countries, where an effective vaccine would be most urgently needed." (5)

The Jerusalem Post report concluded that "pediatricians are important advocates for preventive medicine, but they may know little about HPV infection and cervical and other HPV-related cancers. Obstetricians / Gynecologists know about HPV and cervical cancer prevention, but they often know little about vaccines and immunization delivery." (5)

"We believe doctors need facts. Many times, they're recommending vaccination to their patients because that's the party line of the National Health Service (NHS) at the moment." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

A recent post marketing clinical study published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs on August 12, 2013 showed that the formula of at least one HPV remedy reduced HPV symptoms and was safe and effective. (6)

The formula was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with the HPV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with (the formula)." (6) The study authors also wrote that "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (6)

Doctors can view the papers on that formula here:
http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=36101

Are there other treatments or remedies available against the HPV?

"There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus (this is before the HPV has caused cancer). The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (6)

In light of this evidence, the CBCD recommends that HSV infected individuals talk to their doctors about the medical studies mentioned above.

Herpes Infection May Be Prevented by New Topical Gel; the CBCD Reviews a Report

A drug originally designed to fight HIV may prevent genital herpes. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2015 -- "Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

A study showed that the annual genital herpes (HSV-2) infection rate among women dropped by more than ten percent (10%) when they used a topical gel containing the drug tenofovir. The drug was originally designed to help prevent HIV infection. Its safety and efficacy is still being tested for use in genital herpes prevention, and is not approved for sale to the public. However, Dr. Salim Abdool Karim said that "If the gel were to be approved and manufactured, and if a woman was concerned about acquiring herpes simplex virus type 2, this would be the best protection available. The problem is, right now it's not available. And taking tenofovir tablets instead of the gel doesn't have the same benefit. You see some protection with tablets, but the levels of protection are much lower." (1) Dr. Karim is from the the Centre for the AIDS Program of Research in South Africa.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) reminds the public that although the Tenofovir gel seems promising, as Dr.Karim noted, it is not yet approved for use. Developing an effective product with FDA approval takes time. Until this topical anti-herpes gel is FDA approved, the CBCD recommends that infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR, which is an HSV-2 remedy that is backed by clinical studies.
The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR formula is effective against the HSV-1 and HSV-2 viruses, and other herpes viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with the (HSV-1 and other viruses)…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR." (2) The study authors also wrote that, "We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (2)

Gene-Eden-VIR can be ordered through its product website, here:

http://www.gene-eden-vir.com

Gene-Eden-VIR is a natural antiviral dietary supplement. Its formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR is the only natural antiviral product on the market with published clinical studies that support its claims.

In the study mentioned above, "422 women were enrolled and, "half were given applicators with the drug-infused gel and the rest were given a placebo gel. They were told to insert the gel within 12 hours before they expected to have sex and as soon as possible within 12 hours after sex. The women were tracked for an average of 18 months." (1)

Dr. Connie Celum noted that "The study results indicate that topical tenofovir can reduce HSV-2 acquisition by almost half. This is significant, given the lack of other interventions to reduce HSV-2 acquisition other than condoms." Dr. Celum is the director of the International Clinical Research Center at the University of Washington in Seattle.

What treatments are currently available for those infected with the herpes virus?

"Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day." (2)

In light of this evidence, the CBCD recommends that HSV infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR. This natural product does not prevent herpes infection, and is not a cure for herpes. The herpes virus establishes a life-long infection and there are no drugs or natural remedies that completely remove the virus from the body.

However, the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR was shown to safely and effectively reduce herpes symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. Additionally, it was designed to help the immune system target the latent herpes virus.

Tea Is an Antiviral Beverage According to a Study; the CBCD Reviews a Report

People who drank 5 cups of black tea a day for 2 weeks had 10 times more virus-fighting interferon in their blood. Many studies found that tea is effective against a wide range of viruses. These viruses include hepatitis B and C, the flu virus, and more. For example, one study found that a particular compound in green tea (epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a natural-origin compound) "was strong against (viral) DNA ." (2) Dr. Kim and colleagues wrote in another study that "one of the major flavonoid components of green tea, is known to have a broad antiviral activity against several enveloped viruses, including the influenza virus." (3) Dr. Kim is from the Virus Research and Testing Group, Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology in South Korea. Additionally, a Harvard study showed that there is an immune boosting enzyme called L-theanine, which is "abundant in both black and green tea- decaf versions." (1) In addition to drinking tea, the CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR against latent viruses.
When it comes to tea, "regardless of variety, black and green tea (as well as oolong, dark, and white teas) come from the same plant, an evergreen called Camellia sinensis. It is the processing method and degree of oxidization (exposure to oxygen) that creates the different tea types … drinking green tea is associated with reduced mortality due to all causes, as well as mortality due to heart disease. Research also shows holistic benefits to green tea consumption, including lower blood pressure, oxidative stress, and chronic inflammation." (5)

Garlic? A Super Food? It Is According to a Study

Garlic is a superfood that contains an ingredient effective against viruses and bacteria. That ingredient is called allicin. "British researchers gave 146 people either a placebo or a garlic extract for 12 weeks; the garlic takers were two-thirds less likely to catch a cold. Other studies suggest that garlic lovers who chow more than six cloves a week have a 30 percent lower rate of colorectal cancer and a 50 percent lower rate of stomach cancer." (1) In another study, Dr. Shetty and colleagues wrote that "Garlic (Allium sativum Linn.) has been used as medicine since ancient times and has long been known to have antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties." (2) Dr. Goncagul concurred, writing that "It's also known that garlic is a wonderful plant having the properties of empowering immune system, anti-tumour and antioxidant effects." If you choose to use garlic in your food, you should note that "You can increase the health benefits you receive from garlic by letting it sit after you've chopped it or crushed it. If you give your chopped/crushed garlic time to sit before changing its temperature (through cooking) or its pH (through the addition of acidic food like lemon juice), it will give the alliinase enzymes in garlic an opportunity to work on behalf of your health. For example, in the absence of chopping or crushing, research has shown that just 60 seconds of immediate microwaving will cause garlic to lose some of its cancer-protective properties. Immediate boiling of whole, intact garlic will also lower these properties, as will immediate addition of a very low-acid ingredient like lemon juice." (5)

A Herpes Outbreak Can Be Caused by Sunlight; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

HSV outbreaks can be triggered by different factors, including exposure to sunlight.
There are many things that may trigger a herpes outbreak. One of these things is exposure to sunlight. For example, some types of injury such as "a bite, scrape, cut, dermabrasion, sunburn or lip chapping." (1) The University of Maryland adds to this, noting that triggers for herpes outbreaks can also include "HSV outbreaks can be triggered by different factors. They include sunlight, wind, fever, physical injury, surgery, menstruation, suppression of the immune system, and emotional stress. Oral herpes can be triggered within about 3 days of intense dental work, particularly root canal or tooth extraction." (2)

These facts prompt the Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) to recommend that infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR. These natural, antiviral supplements have a formula that was shown to effectively reduce herpes symptoms in two separate post-marketing studies that followed FDA guidelines.
The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR formula is effective against the family of herpes viruses, including HSV-1 and HSV-2. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with (HSV-1 or HSV-2)…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR." (3) The study authors also wrote that, "We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (3)
"Genital herpes is spread by sexual activity through skin-to-skin contact. The risk of infection is highest during outbreak periods when there are visible sores and lesions. However, genital herpes can also be transmitted when there are no visible symptoms. Most new cases of genital herpes infection do not cause symptoms, and many people infected with HSV-2 are unaware that they have genital herpes." (2)

Head and Neck Cancer Can Be Transmitted by Kissing; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

HPV infection of the oropharynx increases risk of head and neck cancer by 25000%. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/07/2015 -- "Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)?
Research shows an increase in worldwide rates of oral HPV infection and resulting head and neck cancers. In fact, the CDC notes that "Oral HPV could be passed on during oral sex or open-mouthed or 'French' kissing." (2) Now, new research shows that "if you became infected by HPV in the oropharynx, your risk of developing head and neck cancer was 250 times higher than that of someone without the virus." (1) Dr. Touyz wrote in a study that "transmission of disease through kissing is accomplished by viral, bacterial, and (rarely) protozoal organisms. Viral infections … are transmitted not only through close sexual contact, but also through exchange of bodily fluids (saliva) from kissing. (Once considered rarely transmissible by saliva, HIV is now acknowledged to be transmissible during intimate kissing.) ...The hpvs-harboured by men and women alike-cause most (but not all) labial, vulval, perineal, penile, and oral papillomata, and dna typing shows that oral and cervical cancers derive from distinct, transmissible hpvs." (3)

The bottom line?

High-risk HPV can be transmitted by kissing. The CBCD therefore recommends that anyone who suspects that they have an oral HPV infection talk to their doctors about Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of this natural antiviral product was shown to safely and effectively reduce symptoms associated with HPV in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

It should be noted that the CDC says that "there is no FDA-approved test to diagnose HPV in the mouth or throat. Medical and dental organizations do not recommend screening for oral HPV." (2) Thus, there is no way to know for sure if a person has an oral HPV infection unless the person develops warts in the mouth.

Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (3) In contrast, Gene-Eden-VIR were designed to target the latent HPV.

What Are the Signs of Herpes in the Throat; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Most people do not realize that the herpes virus can infect the throat, and cause severe problems. Moreover, they don't realize that both HSV-1 (usually the oral herpes virus) as well as HSV-2 (usually the genital herpes virus) can both infect this area. When this happens, "herpes of the throat usually appears in the form of painful, fluid-filled blisters that eventually rupture into sores. Symptoms can include burning, extreme difficulty swallowing, severe throat pain, upper chest pain when swallowing, fever, chills and (if left untreated) weight loss. Herpes lesions can be difficult to distinguish from other throat sores, and may be misdiagnosed due to their rare occurrence. Patients do not usually have other herpes sores around their mouth or lips at the same time of the throat outbreak, making diagnosis that much more difficult. A throat culture or biopsy is often required." (1)

Inflammation of the Esophagus Can Be Caused by the Herpes Virus; CBCD Recommends Gene-Eden-VIR

The inflammation and open sores of herpes esophagitis can cause pain and damage the throat tissues. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/06/2015 -- "Infected with the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)?
The herpes virus (HSV-1), which normally causes cold sores and fever blisters, can also damage the inner lining of the throat. When this happens, it is called herpes esophagitis. "Herpes esophagitis is a viral infection of the esophagus (the esophagus is the tube that leads to the stomach). The herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) causes herpes esophagitis. This is the same virus that causes cold sores and eye infections such as conjunctivitis. The inflammation and open sores of herpes esophagitis can cause pain and can damage the throat tissues. Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is another form of the virus, which causes genital herpes but does not cause herpes esophagitis." (1)

One symptom of herpes esophagitis is difficulty in swallowing. Dr. Tariq Yousuf and colleagues wrote in a study that "when immunocompetent patients (patients with a mostly healthy immune system) present with odynophagia (painful swallowing), the most common etiologies include pill induced esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus), toxic ingestion or severe reflux esophagitis … HSV is the most common cause of esophagitis typically from a reactivation of prior infection." (2) Dr. Yousuf is from the Department of Internal Medicine at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL.

WebMD notes further that esophagitis is cause for concern. "If left untreated, this condition can become very uncomfortable, causing problems with swallowing, ulcers, and scarring of the esophagus. In some instances, a condition known as Barrett's esophagus may develop, which is a risk factor for esophageal cancer." (3)

Medline says that once an individual is infected with the herpes virus, "the virus hides within nerve cells and remains in the body. It can remain latent for a long time … the virus can reactivate at any time. This may be triggered by: Fatigue, Genital irritation, Menstruation, Physical or emotional stress, Injury etc." (4) Patient.co.uk points out that normally, HSV-1 causes cold sores and fever blisters that "are usually seen on the lips and extend to the skin around the mouth. Other areas on the face, chin, or nose are sometimes involved. Lesions begin as erythematous areas (abnormally red areas) that swell into papules. These become vesicles, which then collapse into ulcers. This takes 1-3 days. The ulcers crust over and the skin returns to normal within about two weeks." (5)

The CBCD recommends that individuals infected with the herpes virus, realize the significant impact of the latent virus on their health, and not ignore it. Hence, the CBCD recommends that these individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. These natural herpes remedies have a natural, antiviral formula that was shown to safely and effectively reduce Herpes symptoms, such as those mentioned above, in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

One mission of the CBCD is to help combat chronic diseases that are caused by latent viruses, such as the latent HSV. Therefore the Center strives to raise awareness about this, and other latent viruses and their effects. This is important because many people do not understand latency.

What is latency?

After an initial period of activity, herpes establishes what scientists call a latent infection. When a virus is latent, it behaves like it is sleeping. It is latent.

How does one defeat the latent herpes virus?

The best defense against a latent herpes infection is a healthy immune system. That's why the CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR is effective against a broad range of latent viruses, including herpes viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2). The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with (a latent virus) … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment…" (6) The study authors also wrote that, "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (6)

Gene-Eden-VIR can be ordered on the product website here:

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose were chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.

To date, Gene-Eden-VIR is the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support its claims.

What treatments are currently available for herpes infections?

"Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day." (6). Gene-Eden-VIR is an oral supplement with a safe and effective formula designed to help the immune system target the latent herpes virus.

Is the Immune System Boosted by Yogurt? The CBCD Reviews a Report

A scientific study found that a daily 7-ounce dose of yogurt was effective in boosting immunity. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/01/2015 -- "Infected with a latent virus such as herpes, HPV, EBV, CMV, or HCV?
Yogurt is an immune system boosting food according to an article on Rodale's Organic Life. As the article states, "Probiotics, or the 'live active cultures' found in yogurt, are healthy bacteria that keep the gut and intestinal tract free of disease-causing germs." (1) Providing scientific evidence to back the article's claim, a 80-day Swedish study of 181 factory employees, found that "those who drank a daily supplement of Lactobacillus reuteri - a specific probiotic that appears to stimulate white blood cells - took 33 percent fewer sick days than those given a placebo." (1) In fact, yogurt can help fight against certain viruses that cause the common cold. Dr. Hwa-Jung Choi and colleagues wrote that "all yogurts showed antiviral activity over 45% against EV71 (a type of enterovirus)."(2) But, amazingly, the immune boosting benefits of yogurt don't end there. Another study showed that some of the bacteria in yogurt may also be effective against cancer. (3)

"We believe in a comprehensive, positive blend of natural and Western medicines. It's clear that yogurt with active cultures has many health benefits, including immune system boosting properties. In addition to eating healthy foods like natural yogurt, which may have some antiviral properties, we also recommend taking Gene-Eden-VIR against common viruses in the latent form." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Does Insurance Cover the Shingles Vaccine?; CBCD Reviews a Report

The Affordable Care Act … has recommended the shingles vaccine for those aged 60 or older. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/30/2015 -- "Infected with the varicella zoster virus? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Herpes Zoster (HZ), commonly called shingles, is a distinctive syndrome caused by reactivation of the varicella zoster virus (VZV), which also causes chickenpox. VZV is a herpes virus. Many places that offer Zostavax, the shingles vaccine, charge at least $200.00. The CDC says that the vaccine, "is available by prescription from a healthcare professional. It can be given in the doctor's office and pharmacies." (2)

For those who find the the cost hard to afford, the CBCD points out that the vaccine is covered under the Affordable Care Act. "The Affordable Care Act requires private health insurance plans to cover the cost of preventive care based on the recommendation of expert medical bodies such as the US Preventive Services Task Force and the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (known as ACIP). ACIP has recommended the shingles vaccine for those aged 60 or older." (1)

However, the Center reminds the public that also according to the CDC, "There are no long-term studies showing how long the vaccine is effective in 50 to 59 year olds. In adults vaccinated at age 60 years or older, protection from the vaccine decreases within the first 5 years after vaccination." In addition, shingles can develop in anyone that has ever had chickenpox, and at any age. Therefore, the CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR against the latent VZV.

The CDC notes that the varicella zoster virus (VZV), which is a herpes virus, causes both chickenpox and shingles. "After a person recovers from chickenpox, the virus stays dormant (inactive) in the body. For reasons that are not fully known, the virus can reactivate years later, causing shingles." (3) Additionally, the CDC adds that "almost 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles, also known as zoster or herpes zoster, in their lifetime. There are an estimated 1 million cases of shingles each year in this country. Anyone who has recovered from chickenpox may develop shingles; even children can get shingles. However the risk of shingles increases as you get older. About half of all cases occur in men and women 60 years old or older." (See the CDC, last reviewed on May 1, 2014) (4)

Are there treatments currently on the market, which target the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), other than Zostavax?

Yes there are. There are also antiviral drugs, such as Zovirax or Valtrex. However, these medications, when effective, only work to shorten the time of the shingles outbreak. They are ineffective against the latent VZV virus. (4)

Gene-Eden-VIR is a natural remedy designed to help the immune system target latent herpes viruses, including the VZV. (3)

"Although we believe people older than 60 should probably get vaccinated against the VZV, we also recommend taking Gene-Eden-VIR against the latent form of the virus." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Can the Herpes Virus Cause Blindness?; The CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Most people are surprised to find out that the herpes virus (HSV-1) can cause serious eye problems. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/30/2015 -- "Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1, or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

The herpes virus (HSV-1) can cause serious eye problems, including blindness. But how does it do this? Medical research shows that like many viruses, the herpes simplex 1 virus is "present in most adults, since they usually infect someone earlier in life. (1) Harvard University says that "The source of infection is usually a family member or friend who is silently shedding virus in the saliva or nasal secretions, or who has an active cold sore. When the virus first enters the body, usually through the nose or mouth, it travels through the nerves up to the same center, which also sends nerves to the eye. There it goes to sleep in an inactive infection state and may never reawaken. Occasionally, the virus does reactivate (stress!) and, instead of traveling back down the nerves to the mouth or nose, it goes to the eye causing the illness there." (2) Sometimes, the herpes virus can repeatedly reactivate, causing an outbreak in the eyes or elsewhere.

The herpes virus, after it causes an initial outbreak, becomes latent in the nerves.

In this state, the virus replicates on a small scale, while producing only some of its proteins. During latency, the virus is able to hide from the immune system, and people usually do not experience typical symptoms. However, when the immune system is weakened, the virus "wakes up" and goes on the attack. This is called viral reactivation. During this phase, an infected individual experiences the standard symptoms, which may result in extreme damage to the eye and even blindness. The CBCD recommends that infected individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR. This natural antiviral remedy is backed by clinical studies, which followed FDA guidelines.
To date, Gene-Eden-VIR is the only natural antiviral product on the market with published clinical studies that support its claims.

It should be noted that eye infection with the herpes virus can "cause inflammation and scarring of the cornea that sometimes is referred to as a cold sore on the eye. Herpes of the eye can be transmitted through close contact with an infected person whose virus is active." (See allaboutvision.com, last updated August 2013) (3) The virus can cause several different conditions, including herpes keratitis, which is the most common form of eye herpes, stromal keratitis (a deeper infection of the cornea), and iridocyclitis (a condition where herpes infects the iris of the eye). (4)

Binge Drinking Damages the Immune System According to a Report; the CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Alcohol in the body causes a temporary, yet significant dip in the efficiency of the immune system. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/28/2015 -- "Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

People who binge drink, experience a drop in the number of immune cells shortly after taking their first drink. The actual immune system response is similar to when a toxin enters the body. In a small study it was shown that alcohol burdens the immune system "several hours to days after exposure, when blood alcohol is no longer detectable." (1) During the study, a group of college students were given a series of alcohol shots, and then "blood was collected for analysis prior to alcohol ingestion, and 20 min, 2h, and 5h after alcohol ingestion." (1) The study showed showed that after two hours, the immune system is extensively occupied with the "invader," and returns to normal about five hours after the first drink.

Dr. Majid Afshar, the lead author of the study wrote that "There's been plenty of research, mainly in animals, that has looked at what happens after alcohol has actually left the system, like the day after drinking, and it's been shown that if there is infection or injury, the body will be less well able to defend against it." (2) The reason is that alcohol depleted the resources of the immune system. Interestingly, the researchers also wrote that "This could mean that if you already have an infection, binge drinking might make it worse. Or it might make you more susceptible to a new infection." (2) Dr. Afshar is an assistant professor in the departments of medicine and public health at Loyola University Health Systems in Maywood, Ill. This study showed that alcohol can burden the immune system to a degree that could risk the health of the drinker, if he or she experiences another attack on the system, such as with a virus. For example, if someone drinks and has sex with an infected individual, the chances of acquiring an infection could be higher.

Study co-author Elizabeth Kovacs said that "people tend to know that binging drinking - enough to reach or exceed a blood-alcohol content of .08, as defined by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism - changes their behavior. But there is less awareness of alcohol's harmful effects in other areas, such as the immune system." (3)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that those drink alcoholic beverages, and who may be infected with HPV take Gene-Eden-VIR to help the immune system target the latent form of the virus.

When the efficiency of the immune system is reduced due to binge drinking, a latent virus can reactivate and cause disease. This is exactly what happens with the human papillomavirus (HPV). After an initial infection, it establishes a life-long latent infection, and can reactivate, causing genital warts and some types of cancer. The CBCD recommends that individuals infected with HPV take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin to help maintain the health of their immune system. The formula of these natural HPV remedies was found to safely and effectively reduce HPV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with the (HPV) … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment…" (4) The study authors also wrote that, "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (4)

Gene-Eden-VIR can be ordered online through its product website here: http://www.gene-eden-vir.com

When the immune system is weakened, and can no longer protect against viruses, the number of latent viruses will increase, and some might even reactivate.

What is the problem with a high number of latent viruses?

Dr. Hanan Polansky from the CBCD has shown how the DNA of latent viruses can cause major chronic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and depression. Please note that these are precisely the diseases mentioned in the report on stress, and the chronic diseases that may develop when someone experiences long-term stress levels.

According to Dr. Hanan Polansky's theory of Microcompetition, fragments of DNA, called N-boxes, can be dangerous. When foreign N-boxes enter the body (naturally, or artificially, like through an injection of some treatment), they end up in the nucleus, where they attract scarce genetic resources. It is interesting that many common latent viruses, such as the herpes family of viruses, have strong N-boxes in their DNA. (See Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease, from 2003) (5)

"Since binge drinking exposes people to viruses, we recommend that individuals who go out for drinks on a regular basis, consider taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin to help their immune systems target latent viruses." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (4) In contrast, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR were designed to target the latent HPV.

Age Increases the Danger of Shingles According to an Extensive Scientific Review

In addition, the elderly who develop HZ (shingles) often have underlying diseases and are at increased risk of disability. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/28/2015 -- "Infected with the varicella zoster virus (VZV), which causes shingles? The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR" - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Herpes Zoster (HZ), commonly called shingles, is a distinctive syndrome caused by reactivation of varicella zoster virus (VZV), which also causes chickenpox. VZV is a herpes virus. A review of the scientific literature published in BMC Public Health found that people throughout Europe develop shingles more often as they age. (1) Dr. Bricout and colleagues wrote that "This review confirmed that, in Europe, HZ incidence increases with age, particularly after 50 years of age. Similarly, data on the percentage of HZ cases who develop PHN are available across EU. PHN, defined as HZ-associated pain lasting for at least three months, has been reported to occur in 10% to 20% of patients. However, the prevalence and severity of PHN increases with age, and has been reported to be as high as 60% to 70% of patients aged ?60 (over 60). In people aged over 50 years, there is a higher rate of HZ-associated hospitalization and HZ and PHN have a greater impact on the quality of life of patients and their relatives." (1) In other words, the older a person gets, the more dangerous the virus becomes. That is, the older a person, the more likely the person can die from the infection.

In the same review of the medical literature, scientists found that in addition to in severity of the disease, death rates also increase with age. Dr. Bricout and colleagues wrote that "the HZ mortality (death) rate varied by gender and was generally higher in women." (1) Interestingly, the scientists found that in certain countries, men had higher HZ mortality rates. These countries included Spain, Italy, France, and Denmark. Dr. Bricout and colleagues are from the Epidemiology Departmental Sanofi Pasteur MSD, in France.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals who have ever had chickenpox take Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of this natural antiviral product was shown to reduce symptoms associated with herpes viruses.
The Gene-Eden-VIR formula was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the formula is effective against the herpes family of viruses. Varicella Zoster is a member of the herpes family. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with the (herpes viruses) … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR." (2) The study authors also wrote that, "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (2)

"… data from the US, for 1979 to 2007, showed that the HZ mortality rate was higher in older patients … mortality rates were higher when HZ was reported to be an associated or secondary cause of death suggesting that the HZ episode could have an indirect role in mortality … it has been estimated that the risk of dying was five-times higher within three years of HZ reactivation." (1)

About half of all cases occur in men and women 60 years old or older." (3)

Are there treatments currently on the market, which target the Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV)?

Yes there are.

Antiviral drugs, such as Zovirax or Valtrex are designed to fight the shingles virus. However, these medications, when effective, only work to shorten the time of the shingles outbreak. They are ineffective against the latent VZV virus. (3)

In contrast, Gene-Eden-VIR has an antiviral formula designed to target the latent VZV (shingles virus).

"We recommend that older individuals take Gene-Eden-VIR against the latent VZV. The formula of this natural antiviral products was designed to help the immune system target the virus in its latent form." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Hepatitis C Drug Costs Anger Patients; CBCD Reviews a Report

The drug's high cost is the source of a growing debate among healthcare professionals, drug makers, and patients. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/10/2015 -- "Infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV)?
New hepatitis C (HCV) drugs are too expensive for most patients. For example, "a standard course of Sovaldi costs $84,000, or $1,000 a day. And many insurers would not approve it for any but the sickest of patients." (1)

Additionally, barriers have been put up by private insurance companies and state Medicaid programs "aimed at controlling costs (which have) made it hard for patients to get the drug, with many left to worsen as they sought charity or appealed their cases." (1) Dr. Paul J. Thuluvath said "Here we had this disease we couldn't cure, and this drug is developed and it's almost like a miracle. I was so upset it was so expensive." (1) Dr. Thuluvath is a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and author of a forthcoming hepatitis guide.

An article in Forbes magazine noted that these high costs "are hitting Medicaid health insurance programs for poor Americans particularly hard because the population of patients in need of Hepatitis C treatments tends to have low incomes and wouldn't be able to afford the drug otherwise. Medicaid is funded by state and federal tax dollars and administered by state governments." (2)

It is interesting to note that "According to the Express Scripts Drug Trend Report, "specialty" drugs for chronic and difficult conditions accounted for just 1 percent of U.S. prescriptions but 31.8 percent of drug spending in 2014." (1)

According to Forbes, "It's unclear exactly how Medicaid programs will deal with … the coming wave of Hepatitis C drugs also expected to get Food and Drug Administration approval from Abbvie (ABBV), Bristol-Myers (BMS) and Merck (MRK)." (2) The CBCD welcomes these new drugs because we believe they will increase competition between the pharmaceutical companies who manufacture the drugs, and thereby drive costs down.
What other treatments are currently available against the HCV virus?

Until recently, "the combination of a pegylated interferon (IFN)-? and ribavirin (was) the standard treatment for chronic HCV infections. This combination is effective in about 80% of the individuals infected with the HCV genotype 2 or 3, and in about 40% – 50% in those infected with genotype 1 or 4. Lately, two new drugs were approved, telaprevir and boceprevir, with better results. However, the combinations of pegylated interferon (IFN)-? and ribavirin and telaprevir or boceprevir are associated with additional side effects, increased costs, and more complex treatment strategies." (3) There are also newly approved drugs including Sovaldi, Harvoni, and Virkira Pak.

"Unlike these costly drugs, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural remedies designed to target the latent HCV." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

HSV Transmitted Through Breastfeeding Can Kill Babies; CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Herpes transmission from mother to baby through lesions on the breast can be fatal. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/10/2015 -- "Infected with the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Although most cases of neonatal herpes infection occur due to transmission of genital herpes (HSV-2) to a baby during the birthing process, HSV-1 can also "lead to fatal neonatal disease." (1) In fact, "HSV-1 transmission by genital or extragenital means may result in greater mortality rates." (1) Another study showed that in up to 10% of cases, "the infection is transmitted postnatally (after birth), most often due to direct contact with an oral HSV infection." (2)

"HSV infection of the nipple or areola can be exquisitely painful and tends to present as miniature vesicles (sores) on an erythematous (skin) base. Open vesicles carry the virus, and the virus can then be transmitted to the breastfeeding infant. It is critical to rule out HSV in infants less than 3 months of age because they can develop a life threatening infection involving the central nervous system." (3)

A baby that becomes infected with herpes must be treated with an I.V. that administers the antiviral drug, acyclovir. Thus, it is very important to know if a nipple is infected. As study authors wrote, "It is important to remember that any breast lesion is not a benign cold sore and may be an herpes infection. This presentation is little known and probably underestimated. In cases of questionable breast lesions, a sample should be urgently tested for HSV. If positive, breastfeeding should be discontinued until the resolution of local signs and negativity of samples (2)."

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends helping the immune system to target the herpes virus while it is latent, and before a woman becomes pregnant, or after she delivers the baby by taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.
The formula of Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the herpes virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2), and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with HCV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR." (4) The study authors also wrote that "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." (4)

Both products can be ordered online on the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin websites, here:
http://www.gene-eden-vir.com and http://www.novirin.com

Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.

Note: Novirin has the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. However, it contains higher quality and more expensive ingredients.

In the study mentioned above, doctors described a case wherein a baby was infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1) through sores on the breast. Dr. Field wrote that "The lesions were seen by nurses as well as the lactation consultant and obstetrician in the hospital after delivery of the affected baby but not recognized as possibly being caused by herpes. The baby died 9 days after birth with hepatic failure." Dr. Field is from the Department of Pediatrics, Huntsville Hospital, USA.

Are there other antiviral treatments against the herpes virus?

"Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day." (4). There are also the natural supplements Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin, which have a formula that was designed to help the immune system target the herpes virus when it is in a latent form.

"We recommend having any sores checked immediately by a doctor. Further, before a woman becomes pregnant, or after she delivers the baby, we recommend taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin to help the immune system target the latent herpes virus." – Greg Bennett, CBCD

Finding CMV in Some Cancer Tumors Predicts Poor Survival Rates; CBCD Reviews a Study

Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection increases the aggressiveness of some types of cancer. (1)

Rochester, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/09/2015 -- "Infected with the Cytomegalovirus (CMV)?
Research has shown that finding CMV in tumors increases the risk of a poor outcome in cancers, such as glioblastoma (a highly invasive brain tumor). (1) In fact, "Numerous previous studies have confirmed that CMV nucleic acids and genes (DNA) are present in more than 90% of some GBM tumors … (and) ...existing data supports the idea that long-term, low-level CMV infection may promote the survival, stemness, and proliferation of glioma stem-like cells and could significantly contribute to GBM pathogenesis (progression of the disease)." (2) An important finding of one study showed that "CMV-infected glioma stem-like cells outlived their uninfected counterparts, and this extended survival was paralleled by an increased frequency of tumor sphere formation." (2) Because of the clear relationship between CMV and cancer, "researchers are continuing to study the relationship between CMV, GBM, and other types of cancer, including prostate, colon, and breast cancer." (2)

"Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus belonging to the herpes virus family, which infects 70%-100% of the world?s population. After a primary infection that is generally mild or asymptomatic in the immunocompetent host, this virus establishes latency." (3) Latency is a condition where the virus replicates on a small scale and only produces a subset of its proteins.

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals infected with CMV take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR against the latent form of the virus.

Scientists discovered that "CMV proteins are expressed only in tumor cells, while non-tumor cells surrounding the tumor are CMV negative."(5) Moreover, CMV causes "DNA damage and inhibits DNA repair mechanisms, induces oncogene expression and telomerase activity, induces inflammation and at the same time avoids recognition by the immune system." (5)

"The virus is generally passed from infected people to others through direct contact with body fluids, such as urine, saliva, or breast milk. CMV is sexually transmitted. It can also be spread through transplanted organs and blood transfusions. People who are infected with CMV can shed the virus (pass the virus from their infected body fluids, such as urine, saliva, blood, and semen, into the environment). Young children often shed CMV for months after they first become infected." (6).

What can individuals do if they are infected with CMV?

"Several drugs are approved for the treatment of HCMV infections in immunocompromised individuals. These drugs include ganciclovir, its oral prodrug valganciclovir, cidofovir, foscavir and fomivirsen. However, the use of these drugs in immunocompetent individuals is limited by their toxicity, poor oral bioavailability, modest efficacy, and the development of drug resistance." (See Pharmacology & Pharmacy, from September 2013) (4). In other words, the only drugs available are normally reserved for those who have a severely compromised immune system, such as those with HIV/AIDS. There are no drugs approved for those with a mostly healthy immune system.

In contrast, there are two natural antivirals with a formula that has been shown to reduce symptoms of a CMV infection in two separate post-marketing clinical studies. Those products are Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin.

"Concerned individuals should get a CMV blood test. If positive, we recommend that they take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR. The formula of these natural antivirals was designed to help the immune system target the latent virus." – Greg Bennett, CBCD
