Getting a Job 101: The How-To's in Finding One

Job hunting is full of uncertainties, one cannot determine how long will it take. It can actually be considered that job hunting is a “job” itself. This needs to be a 24/7, 365 days a year job. Why? Because even though a person has a regular source of income, he can never be so sure that his position is secured. It is wise to always have a reserve if all else fails. There are people who have taken over a year just to find a temporary job.

Anoka, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/28/2014 -- Often times, there are available jobs in education, healthcare and some in IT. However, finding a job in these industries or fields may require some re-education and specialized training. One can't get a teaching job without having a degree first. Reinventing oneself takes a while.

There are always job opportunities on the industries or firms that offer temporary employment. People nowadays should be proactive and call these temporary employment firms to find light industrial jobs, or jobs that offer a decent pay or maybe a bit more. There are instances that a person gets tired of his job, his daily routine in the office. There are opportunities out there and chances are, he can find some temporary or part time jobs for him to earn extra cash.

Here are some helpful tips to find and get a job.

Develop a system on job hunting, be organized. This way, one can focus on the process without having to worry about the outcomes. Have a record of all the received calls and the booked interviews. This makes following up on interviews effortless.

One has to sell himself during the interview. Everything that one has to offer has to be laid in the table. Give emphasis on the things that others can't offer. A person looking for a job must keep on selling himself until he gets a job offer.

It is a must to have good features, advantages, and benefits in presenting oneself. The person needs to come up with stories – real stories – that showcase his success. When it comes to sales, it's a game of numbers. The numbers and figures speak the capability and credibility of a salesman.

Most of the job applicants get in the loop with going on a few interviews and then stop, thinking that a job already awaits them. This is not the right mindset. One has to understand that he has absolutely nothing until a job offer has been made.

Job hunters need to instill in their minds that there's no such thing as hidden job markets. Some may be aware of it, but it's not actually hidden. Finding a job is all about timing, catching a prospective employer at the right time when they are in need of someone with your skill set.

Today, job seekers need to be aggressive and proactive on searching for a job. The competition in the job market is tough and will get even tougher as time goes by. With the right preparation, mindset and perseverance one is ready to face, conquer and shine in the job market.

How Can the Government Address the Hapless Global Employment Trends?

Amidst positive signs of economic recovery in advanced economies, there is still a growing gap in the global labor market. How can the government strategize job-friendly macroeconomic and labor market policies to sustain employment requirements and create more and better jobs in parallel with the recovering economies?

Anoka, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/28/2014 -- The bumpy economic upturn and years of consecutive downward reforms in economic growth projections have had an effect on the worldwide employment condition. In 2013, there are approximately 202 million unemployed people globally which is a five million increase in unemployment incidence as compared to 2012. This is a sad reality that employment opportunities, all across the globe, are not enough to keep up with the expanding labor force.

Current Statistics

In a study conducted by the International Labor Organization, it was identified that 45% of the insufficient employment opportunities came from East Asia and South Asia regions, followed by Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. Impressively, Latin America contributed only 1% of the global unemployment rate for 2013. Evidently, the gap between the number of job seekers versus the available employment opportunities continuously widens. This problem started during the financial crisis in 2008 and is overwhelmingly increasing year after year. As of last year, there is a total of 32 million additional jobseekers. Surprisingly, there are still a number of people who lost confidence in looking for jobs (23 million) and those who are financially incapable and chose not to work at all (7 million).

For the young population (those aged 15 to 24), there was a one million increase in the number of unemployed people from 2012 to 2013. Marking the highest youth-to-adult unemployment ratio in the history, global youth unemployment was at 13.1% in 2013 which is thrice as high as the recorded adult unemployment rate. It was found out that the rise in the global youth unemployment rate grew particularly in North Africa, the Middle East, and some parts of Southern Europe, Caribbean, and Latin America.

Projections

Based on the current situation of unemployment in the world, it is projected that by 2018, there would be more than 215 jobless people who will need to get a job, with only 40 million job opportunities being created each year. This weak job creation is unhealthy for the labor market even when the economy is set to improve as employment constitutes a substantial weight for the public takings obliging the government to raise taxes or curtail expenditures. Another factor that why longer periods of unemployment is detrimental is because talents who are having a hard time securing jobs and are being discouraged eventually, will inevitably lose the skills that they have acquired which is another factor why finding for alternative employment even at the same skill or competency level would be hard in the long run.

The Resolution

A more rapid revival in the global markets is held back by a shortfall of cumulative demand. Economic consolidation in this respect is presently happening in many advanced countries and comprises a haul on a quicker output growth. ILO's studies concluded that if macroeconomic policies and increased labor wages would be in equilibrium, it would significantly improve the overall employment in the world.

Greater attention to labor market and social policies would be another resolution. Active labor market policies should address inactivity and skills mismatch issues. Based on economic estimates, bringing up government spending to 1.2% of GDP (gross domestic product) like those of the countries which have greater spending on active labor market policies, it is projected to have an additional 3.9 million jobs that would be created in the developed economies.

List of Jobs That Don't Require a Bachelor's Degree but Will Still Pay the Bill - Success Is Made for Everybody

The higher one’s educational attainment is, the higher the chances of having a bright future and bigger opportunities. However, individuals who didn’t manage to step into college for some reasons will not be left behind for there are opportunities out there that don’t require a bachelor’s degree but offer decent pay.

Anoka, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/28/2014 -- "For job seekers who simply didn't or couldn't attend college, there are still many rewarding career opportunities available if they know where to look, including in fields such as health care, personal services and information technology," says Tony Lee, CareerCast Publisher. "To land one of these jobs, you'll need to compensate with good, old fashioned hard work and some post-high school training."

Studies reveal that a degree holder will have a more rewarding career than the ones who haven't gone beyond high school. Studies also show that having an associate's degree will pay off a higher compensation as compared as having a high school diploma. In terms of pay between the three, there's really a wide gap. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the average median weekly salary for a worker without a degree is $651, compared to $777 for those with an associate's degree and $1,108 for those earning a bachelor's degree. College education doesn't come cheap, that's a fact. According to the College Board, the average cost of a four-year course ranges from $40,000 to $160,000.

Being self-employed is one of the best options, owning a business and making the most out of one's skills and talents is the usual tendency of individuals who didn't reach college. According to the US Department of Commerce, there are over 22 million Americans who are self employed. Automotive repair and personal grooming comprise the fastest growing industries for self employment. Notably, individuals who have experiences and training on these fields thrive to be business owners.

Yes, these jobs do not require college diploma, however, it is required to have a specialized training. Every state has licensing boards for hair stylists and skin care specialist. Students need not worry for there are specialty programs available to help them learn the basics. Likewise, trade skills offer training to help aspiring automotive repair specialist, welders, carpenters and electricians get started. As for the job hunters in the healthcare industry, associate's program in nursing, respiratory therapy and medical record-keeping can give their career a head start.

Listed below are the best jobs that don't require a college degree (Source CareerCast):
