Author of Out of the Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss, Benjamin Scott Allen, Speaks out on Dealing with Loss During the Holiday Season

Incline Village, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/12/2014 -- With the holiday season approaching, many individuals see the season as a time to celebrate and spend time with family. Others, who are living in loss, see the holidays as a time where grief and sorrow has reached the highest point of the year. Struggling through loss over many years and holidays, Benjamin Scott Allen, author of "Out of The Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss" has written a blog describing his personal experiences and how the holiday season has forever changed.

Allen lost his wife and two sons to HIV/AIDS in the span of 13 years. Each death was met with grief and the struggle to cope as life moved on without them. It took some time, but Allen found peace, and his story is sure to bring comfort to others who are looking to read books for grieving the loss of a child. His most recent blog post, entitled "Holidays and Loss" takes his audience through the difficult times of dealing with the holidays.

It came slowly for Allen, as he was faced with one loss after another. His wife, Lydia, and son Bryan passed first, and he spent the holidays balancing joy and sorrow in the company of his son, Matt. Their holiday experience was lived in the shadow of their lost family members. Though he was strong for his son, the last loss was the toughest. Writes Allen, "We missed Bryan. We missed Lydia. Matt died three years later on November 10, 1995. I did not participate in Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years. The holidays that the world around me celebrated went on without me."

He lets his readers see how he has coped with the loss of loved ones, and continued to prosper through their unconditional love. His unique perspective on dealing with death provides readers with a first-hand account of how to carry on through the year, especially the holidays. The relationship Allen has with his family is continuing to evolve, and as he writes, "Life is different. Love is different. But time did not freeze. The river still flows and everywhere I go, they go."

Benjamin Scott Allen, Father of Bryan, Presents His Newly Published Book at Bryan's House, 3610 Pipestone Road in Dallas on September 25

Incline Village, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/05/2014 -- On September 25, from 10 am -12 pm, Benjamin Scott Allen is pleased to announce his book launch at Bryan's House in Dallas, TX. Allen will be sharing his story and signing copies of the book, "Out of The Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss," a memoir written in remembrance of his wife Lydia, and two sons, Bryan and Matthew, who all lost their lives to HIV/AIDS. Individuals, family, and friends are invited to Bryan's House, located at 3610 Pipestone Road in Dallas.

His words will help anyone currently dealing with a death, and comfort them in their effort to find peace during their difficult situation. Allen's book is real and powerful, and he will share his journey, reflect on his story, and answer any questions to help find love and peace within the loss.

Bryan Allen was merely a few months old when his mother, Lydia, found out that the blood she received from a transfusion during the delivery of her older son, Matthew, carried the HIV virus. Lydia, Matthew and Bryan all tested positive for AIDS. In 1985, at 8 months old, Bryan became one of the first children in the Dallas area to die from AIDS. In the subsequent years, Lydia and Matt succumbed to the AIDS virus as well.

"Lydia never lost focus on what the house was there to do and for whom," reads an excerpt from Out of the Ashes: Healing in the Afterloss. "She wanted to leave something meaningful behind, something that made sense out of the senselessness we faced daily. There was never any doubt that Lydia's myopic effort of bringing this house into fruition was to ease the path of families like Lynn's. She didn't care all that much about leaving behind a name: but she did leave an indelible trace of spirit in a house that still cares for children today."

Today, Bryan's House has expanded its services to include all children with a medical condition in need. Benjamin Scott Allen said, "To launch this book at Bryan's House is very special to me. To see how the vision and hard work of Lydia and Stephanie had has continued to care for children in need means as much to me as sharing our experiences of grief, loss and love through this book."

Allen's book is one of the best books on grief and bereavement currently available. He teaches individuals how to live beyond the loss and presents them with a healing space that continues to embrace and validate the journey of coping with loss.
Benjamin Scott Allen's New Book "Out of the Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss" Inspired by the Loss of His Wife and Children to HIV/AIDS

Incline Village, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/01/2014 -- In a powerful memoir written about how to deal with the loss of loved ones, Benjamin Scott Allen was moved by the loss of his wife and children to write the book, "Out of The Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss." The book explores the universal themes of recovery and healing while offering readers encouragement and hope when they're coping with loss. It can be the most devastating time of a person's life, but Allen has evolved his loss into an inspirational story to help others who are dealing with grief.

"Out of The Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss" chronicles the journey of Allen as he dealt—one by one—with the loss of his wife and two sons to HIV/AIDS. Allen was living the Afterloss, searching for the life he once knew. Readers will see his powerful words put on paper, how he reflects on the lives of his family, what they all went through, and how he has embraced life ever since, on a path to living with loss and beyond the loss.

"Grief cannot be forced," states Allen. "There is no cookie cutter approach to how grief works. It works in the natural rhythm of who you are and what you are feeling. Feel what is natural for you and not what someone else thinks you need to be."

When looking for books on grief, this story aims to help anyone who has lost the person or persons who are most important to them. "Out of The Ashes; Healing in the Afterloss" provides hope to readers that are dealing with sorrow and shows them that life, love and meaning are still possible, even in the midst of great pain and loss.
