Beyond Dzongs and Monasteries: On a Happiness Trail in Bhutan!

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/23/2020 -- Traverse to one of the world's most captivating and exhilarating regions- the Indian Subcontinent, a land of diverse panoramas blessed with some of the most breathtaking landscapes and steeped in a rich bounty of colourful traditions.

A tiny speck squeezed between India and Tibet, Bhutan is the only independent Buddhist country in the Himalayas, often referred to as the last Shangri-La. Bhutan, known as the 'Land of the Thunder Dragon', is a Himalayan kingdom where the best of traditional culture flourishes and the latest sustainable developments are embraced. Bhutan is a land of majestic mountains, lush green forested ravines and imposing dzong, fortress-like monasteries on cliff sides. A dramatic landscape, dotted with blue poppies, snow leopards and colourful emblems of bright fluttering prayer flags.

Bhutan is considered to be one of the happiest places in the world! The country's development philosophy is not based on GDP, but Buddhist values and GNH (Gross National Happiness). The quality of life is measured depending on the spiritual and mental wellbeing of its people. Buddhism is central to Bhutan's identity in all aspects of life.

To avoid negative influences on its culture and environment, the Royal Government of Bhutan has been very cautious in its approach to the development of tourism. All tourists must travel on pre-planned, prepaid guided packaged tour or custom-designed travel programs. Shrouding under a veil of mystery, Bhutan has carefully guarded itself against western influences, and the people are known for their generosity and amiability.

Compass India Inc., a luxury travel company with expertise in personalized and tailor-made itineraries, has an array of choices for discerning travellers to showcase the panoramic best of the Indian sub-continent.

The tour begins in the beautiful cultural capital of India, Kolkata often fondly referred to as the "City of Joy". Visit the unofficial symbol of Bhutan – the famous Taktshang Monastery or the Tiger's Nest, which stands precariously on the edge of a high cliff. From Paro, the tour moves onward to the scenic countryside of the Punakha valley beautifully trimmed with thick forests and terraced rice fields.

The highlight of the town, the Punakha Dzong is elegantly situated between the convergence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu Rivers and the most formidable of all the fortresses in Bhutan.

Walking Through India's Forts and Palaces: A Royal Legacy

Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/09/2020 -- India's eternal history is brimming with myriad tales of battles, triumph and vigour. The magnificent secular edifices, invincible forts, palaces and mansions narrate countless stories of courage, romance, chivalry and tragedies that befell the region. Built during the medieval period, these formidable forts were constructed to protect the territory from attacks. These living legends have been witness to the rise and fall of many fortunes and kingdoms; today they stand testimony to the bygone era of decadence, elegance and royalty.

Most of India is dotted with grand forts and opulent palaces especially in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. With the advent of the British Raj, there was a need for security against local kings as well as European nations, leading to the construction of forts such as the Mumbai Fort, Fort William in Kolkata and Fort St. George in Chennai. The Agra Fort and the Red Fort in Delhi have been recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage sites amongst others.

The Rajput rulers in Rajasthan were prolific builders who left behind a legacy of some of the most imposing and awe-inspiring constructions which were the formal seat of these gallant warriors. Enduring the harsh environs, the desert winds and the scorching sun these forts have stood unshakable against many sieges. Retaining the splendour and their old charm, they are open to the public as a presentation of the rich heritage and splendid architectural prowess.

Many of these stately palaces have been converted to heritage hotels for guests to experience the enchantment and grandeur of India's imperial past.

Compass India Inc. is a leading luxury travel company committed to delivering seamless and authentic travel experiences with the highest level of professionalism. "Our specially designed sample itineraries are extremely popular with our guests and the 21 days tour of Rajasthan's fort and palaces beckons the travellers to keep coming back for many such authentic experiences. It is our endeavour to offer the discerning travellers a glimpse of this splendour in the lap of luxury and unrivalled comforts" said Mr Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass.

Amongst the most prominent ones to visit are, the Red Fort, Agra Fort, Amber Fort, the Lake Palace, Kumbhalgarh Fort, the Jaisalmer Fort and the mighty Mehrangarh fort at Jodhpur. This tour will take you on a mesmerizing journey through the magnificent Indian heritage.

The tour begins in the capital city of Delhi, a vast urban sprawl of contrasts and paradoxes, a harmonious blend of the past and the present. Explore the first of many forts on this tour - the colossal sandstone Red Fort is an excellent example of the artistic brilliance of the Mughal reign. Inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this magnificent red citadel was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century AD.

Drive to Agra to witness the pristine white marble monument Taj Mahal, a stunning example of the perfect interplay of art and architecture, an extraordinary sight that is sure to leave one spell-bounded.

Walk through the Buland Darwaza (Gate of Victory) of the walled deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri and experience the magic of Mughal architecture at its best

Next in line is Jaipur that is blessed with a wealth of architectural wonders, especially the pink, delicately honeycombed sandstone windows of the Palace of the Winds, the Observatory and the Maharaja's City Palace.

The Amber Fort, an apt example of Rajput architecture, is stunningly situated on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake. A blend of Hindu, Rajput and Mughal architectural styles, intricate marble, glass, metal and wood carvings adorn the fort. One of the most spectacular buildings contained in the fort is the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors). With its walls completely covered with tiny mirrors, it becomes a dazzling fantasy with the light of a single match.

Visiting the town Bundi, the sojourn continues to witness the magical and mighty Chittorgarh Fort. The pride and glory of Rajasthan, Chittor echoes with tales of romance and valour unique to the Rajput tradition. This resplendent hill fort in Rajasthan covers an area of 700 acres and extends up to 3 kilometres in length. Chittorgarh Fort is perched atop a hillock. This is a ruined citadel, where the royal past lives in its myths, legends, imposing forts, graceful palaces and spectacular cenotaphs. Entrance to this massive hill fort is through seven large gates, and each of these gates has been built as massive stone structures with protective ramparts for defence.

The guests can choose to stay at the opulent and ultra-luxurious Lake Palace hotel in the charming city of Udaipur, with spell-binding views of the azure Lake Pichola before proceeding to visit the grand Kumbhalgarh Fort.

The beauty of Udaipur is as defiant against the arid roughness of the rest of Rajasthan as its warmongering past. Be sure to visit the massive City Palace overlooking the Lake Pichola, a glittering example of Rajput architecture and Mughal-style decorative techniques. Behind the strong walls of the palace, dark, steep and narrow staircases connect a maze of royal chambers and courtyards. Dazzling, intricate miniatures, antiques and paintings are on display everywhere. A noteworthy sight is that of gorgeous mosaics of peacocks in More Mahal and a yard full of shady trees on the terrace of Amar Vilas.

Like a gigantic snake, the magnificent ramparts of the Kumbhalgarh fort wind along the rugged contours of the Aravali hills for 36 km, making it the second-largest wall in the world after the Great Wall of China. It was built by Rana Kumbha, one of the greatest kings of Mewar to defend his kingdom.

A Soul-Searching Passage to India!

Compass India Inc. is a pioneer in the luxury travel management industry, offering bespoke experiences to discerning travellers. With an experience of more than two decades, Compass has carved a niche for itself with impeccable personalized services.

New Delhi, Delhi -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/23/2020 -- Travel is not about the time it's about you. It's not something that you are good at; it's something you do – like breathing.

A first time trip to India can be overwhelming, perhaps daunting. India has so much to offer, to see, to taste and to feel. One gets weaved into her senses and move at her pace. The indigenous culture, slowly, seeps into the traveller's thoughts, leaving them aching for more.

It is arduous to choose between chaos and peace or in other words, between Varanasi and Khajuraho. Keeping in mind the length and breadth of the country, a first-time visitor to India should use personal discretion in deciding the places of interest.

India has always attracted travellers with its medieval history, unique monuments, vibrant colours and the warmth of its populace. Whether it is the poster monument of Taj Mahal or the Palaces of Rajasthan, tours to India are beckoning visitors from all corners of the world, with visions of exotic people and a land overflowing with a vibrant past.

Compass India Inc, a luxury travel company, with deft expertise in sculpting customized itineraries for tourists coming for the first time in India, recommends a minimum of two weeks in the country to imbibe the spirit of India.

"North India is renowned for its glorious palaces and magnificent forts saddled by various tombs and ancient ghats or river banks. Whereas, Southern India boasts of ancient temples, the serene backwaters and lush green countryside. We assure our guests a life-changing experience. Hence, we weave the tour keeping their preferences in mind." says Jaya Kukreti, an avid traveller and one of the senior travel consultants at Compass India Inc.

Travelling to India requires detailed logistical planning, and this is where Compass, with its expertise, comes into the picture. Deluxe rooms and luxury camps, with all modern amenities and comfort, bottled water throughout the tour, an amicable escort accompanies the guests during the trip. Visits to local markets and a meal with a local family in their home, a journey to a sacred temple or viewing the sunset from the rooftop of a deserted fort, makes the travel experience, exceptional.

From greeting upon arrival to all ground travel, train tickets and boat rides, to special permits to visit remote areas, Compass handles the minutest details with utmost care and efficiency.

As mentioned earlier, there is no such thing as the perfect time, but keeping in mind that India is a hot tropical country, it is best to avoid the scorching summer. It is challenging to defeat Sun's wrath and yet remain fresh and cheerful. The winter months, however, are delightful and usually more enjoyable.

This wondrous passage to India ideally begins in New Delhi. Delhi exhibits a fusion of 'old meets new'. It's the city that has witnessed the rise and fall of many empires, ascend and descend of small and mighty. The Forts, pillars, and abandoned ruins bear testimony to that. Juxtaposed to that is the sprawling new city, with expansive gardens, soaring skyscrapers and bustling shopping malls. All international flights, however, connect to Mumbai too.

If it's your first trip to India, then the Taj Mahal is an absolute must. It is revered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is essentially a tomb that the mighty emperor Shah Jahan built for his beloved queen, Mumtaz Mahal. It is believed that Shah Jahan lost interest in his empire after he lost his favourite wife and queen and devoted his remaining life in building this monument of love. It is located at Agra, approximately 200kms from Delhi.

Rajasthan is considered as the poster boy of Compass. Its majestic palaces, grand forts, and affluent folklore never cease to cast a spell. After years of thoughtful research, itineraries have been designed and crafted, keeping the diverse travel requirements in mind.

The escort and guide on all escorted tours arrange for the clients to visit various traditional fairs and folk dances, which have been prevalent for years and are seeped into the culture.

Another fascinating destination is Varanasi, also known as Benaras. Situated on the banks of the Holy River Ganges, it is considered a sacred city for Hinduism, Jainism and has a significant place in Buddhism. It is perceived as the spiritual capital of India.

Tour guides employed with Compass India Inc, who escort guests in Varanasi, are native to the city. They are familiar with all lanes and by-lanes and nooks and corner of the holy city.

All tours, including destinations like Varanasi, Khajuraho, Kerala and Rajasthan, can be customized and personalized according to the client's preference and priority.

Darting Around Darjeeling with Compass India Inc.

New Delhi, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/17/2015 -- Darjeeling, a quaint hill station nestled in the foothills of Himalayas is a rare rendezvous of breathtaking locales with an illustrious history. Many eons ago, the mountain spurs, on the slopes of which Darjeeling now stands formed a part of the independent kingdom of Sikkim. It was shrouded with dense forest with the mighty Kanchenjunga as a backdrop. The British learned that the elevation and conditions were best suited for the cultivation of tea. They started importing tea plants from China. This paved the way for the tea plantation and today it is a thriving business. Darjeeling Tea is famous worldwide and is a particular favourite of the British. The modest town of Darjeeling was home to the British tea planters and became the summer residence of The British Raj. To escape the balmy heat of Calcutta, the then capital of The British Raj, the British found the solace in the arms of this small hill station. Darjeeling seemed perfect for its weather and beauty and till date attracts a large number of tourists.

Till date Darjeeling retains the flavour of the colonial past and emits a culture, which is rich with historical essence. The Darjeeling toy train, which runs on the world's smallest gauge, is one of the main points of interest in Darjeeling. It's ancient steam engines pull two tiny blue bogeys or compartments and runs between Darjeeling and Siliguri. Several times a day one can hear it's comforting whistle as the train pulls either into or out of the station. There is a strange nostalgia in the chugging of the toy train, which entraps everyone irrespective of their age. Train enthusiasts from all over the world come to enjoy a joyride in this toy train. The toy train has been running on its tracks since the mid 1800s. It is the same train, which carried the British Raj. Compass recommends an hour's ride in this train from Darjeeling to Ghoom. In several places the train runs parallel to the road and in front of houses and little shops.

Darjeeling is a must visit for all tea enthusiasts. The rich aroma of the golden liquid ferries around the air and lends a fresh feel to the atmosphere. The tea gardens carpeting the rolling hills, a lush green texture, welcomes right away. Tea gardens stretch out in almost every direction enveloping many hillocks in its fold. Compass India Inc arranges stays in various Tea Estate Plantations. Apart from staying in the plantation, Darjeeling tour packages include visits and walks to tea estates and tea museums.

'I am a tea-drinker, I find it quite refreshing and I like it without any condiments, just pure gold – Says Durjay Sengupta, CEO of Compass. The spirit of tea is positive, soothing and uplifting, he adds.

Darjeeling is well known for 3 T's, the Toy train, the Tea and the imposing Tiger Hill. The sunrise at the Tiger Hill is something no one should miss. Sure, one needs to wake up before the Sun and go to the Summit to see the Sun emerge from the horizon, but what it reveals is worth all the effort. The fresh sunlight unravels the Kanchanjunga, which is the third highest mountain in the world. If one is willing to crane your neck one can also get a glimpse of the Mount Everest. It is further away at a distance, hence appears much smaller than its real height. Nonetheless, a glimpse seems rewarding enough. Kanchanjunga splays itself almost all over Darjeeling's skyline. Legend has it that the mountain reveals itself to whom it chooses. On a clear day, the sight of the imposing Tiger Hills washed with the fresh Sunlight, with a renewed promise augments one's soul.

In Darjeeling, one is either walking up or walking down. The locals do it with so much ease that it inspires the visitor to do so too. In keeping of a hill station, the roads are cobbled and vehicle rides are often bumpy. The best way to explore the streets and general life of this town is to explore by foot.

Many gardens and park dot the town and Nature is in her full bounty here. Darjeeling tour packages often include various parks and gardens. There are a few hermetic temples around Darjeeling. One such temple is the sacred Mahakal temple. Mahakal is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Next to the Mahakal temple is a Buddhist Shrine. This depicts the manifestation of complete harmony that exists between Hinduism and Buddhism.

New Delhi, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/03/2015 -- The erstwhile political capital of India was also the intellectual and cultural capital of the country. During the British Raj, Calcutta, as it then called, thrived as the main trading hub for the Sub-continent. It is challenging to find one word to depict this vibrant and yet enigmatic city. An old world charm veils this city of joy. Its gait is slow and stubborn. It is a sharp contrast to the pace of any other city like Mumbai or the current capital New Delhi. From the sluggish trams to Victorian buildings, the impact of the Colonization is vivid and looms large over the contours of this city.

The denizens of Kolkata have earned laurels for the city and the country and have had an immense contribution to its rich cultural heritage. From the Nobel in literature to the Oscars in Cinema, they have bagged it all.

The Kolkata city tours are an eclectic mix of the bygone era and the vibrant present. From awe-inspiring architecture to vast botanical gardens, Kolkata contains every ingredient to satiate the travel hungry palate.

The Victoria Memorial is one of the most celebrated monuments of the city. A colossal structure in white marble, it was built in honour of Queen Victoria. The soaring chambers and the gallery with exhibits depicting Bengal's history are the major attractions.

The 'Jewel Box Temple Of Calcutta' or the Jain Temple and Indian Museum are other places to visit in Kolkata. The temple bearing exquisite designs created out of glass mosaics, coloured stones and huge mirrors, dedicated to the 10th Tirthankara or Jain priest is a major attraction.

Compass India Inc. conducts private tours to Kolkata and recommends a visit to the Marble Palace. It is a palatial mansion built by an art connoisseur Raja Rajendra Mullick. Sustained by Corinthian pillars and Tuscan columns, this grand structure houses sculptures from the Victorian era.

An enduring Anglo-Indian influence prevails on the city's shoulder. In the 70's, Calcutta, by it old spelling, enjoyed a nightlife that was way to progressive for the rest of India. The bejeweled Park Street had several pubs and nightclubs where English music and liquor permeated into their patron's senses. Germinating from this culture, several newbies with equal essence but renewed vigour, opened up and is thriving now. Though live music is common in most pubs across India, Kolkata has a cache of local well known bands rendering their music and enthralling its listeners. Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass, who grew up in Kolkata, feels one evening must be reserved for Park Street to enjoy the music, the cuisine the ambience et al.

Compass encourages its guests to visit the Missionaries of Charity or the Mother Teresa House. A trip to Kolkata is sketchy without paying a visit here. It is impossible to gauge her body of work or her contribution to the Indian society by a single visit. Yet, it is important to be aware of it. The House offers a glimpse of the life and works of The Mother, whose sole mission was to help the poorest of poor and to those who had no place to go to. After paying obeisance to her tomb, a walk down the photo gallery gives an idea of her contribution.

A drive past the Dalhousie Square gives an idea of the British Raj's impact over the city. Even today, most of the then built buildings houses various Government offices. The Writers Building is where the current State Secretariat is; the Raj Bhawan is the Governor's House. The General Post Office, the High Court and the Town Hall are all standing tall to tell the tales of the bygone era.

Compass Introduces Walks Into the Weavers' Colonies

New Delhi, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/27/2015 -- Art forms existed even before anything else existed. The Harappan seals are testimony to this. Bone needles and woven cotton was discovered amongst the ruins of Mohenjo-daro. There are references of the craft of weaving in the ancient scriptures like Vedas too. India has a vast treasure of various forms of weave. It is a marvel that an ancient art like weaving still exists. Unfortunately, the carriers of this tradition are a dwindling lot. They seldom get the recognition they deserve. Weaving is a skill that requires sheer brilliance and the expertise and dogma passes on to the following generation.

Compass India Inc., a luxury tour company, encourages the weaving industry and commits itself to contribute towards keeping this ancient art form alive. We applaud these artisans and encourage our esteemed guests to take a walk through looms; lanes where most of the weavers live and work from, to see and get first hand feel of their lives and skills.

The first being agriculture, the weaving industry is the second largest provider of employment. Abundance of raw materials, continuous supply of cost effective work force are few of the contributing factors behind the legacy of weaving still being active. A few NGO and e commerce sites have also contributed and are encouraging young India to adorn themselves with handloom rather than the mass produce of the power loom.

Legend has it that when the Buddha laid to rest, veiled in a hand woven fabric from Banaras, now known as Varanasi. One of the oldest living cities of the world, Varanasi is famous for the quality of silk crafted by its legendary weavers. A silk saree or a scarf takes about 15-20 days to be woven by hand.

The famous cotton muslin of Varanasi is so fine that even oil cannot penetrate its fine woven texture. Varanasi is also acclaimed worldwide for its Jamdani inlay technique. In this style, fine patterns are woven all over the body of the fabric along with the weft is the same count. This rare style is indigenous to India. This is still done in traditional pit looms. The Brocade is another fine and exquisite fabric from Varanasi. This fabric was a particular favourite of The Mughals and artisans rose to the occasion and further developed this style with motifs and patterns resonating the Mughal glory. Brocade is a weave in which the designs appear by inserting zari threads (drawn out of pure gold) between the warp at regular intervals, so that the design emerges in each line. A draw loom is often used to weave this kind of fabric.

There are specific areas, which specialize in different styles of weaving. Compass representative will walk with you and with the help of the local craftsman will explain and show you how this magic is woven. The sheer dedication and pride of the artisans are gratifying to the soul.

The weavers of Gujarat are also renowned for their art and some of the finest textiles are native to this region of India. From the Mashroo to the patola, the demand of handloom fabrics is witnessing a huge upswing. The fabric is going through a major globalization and its use is now diversified to suit the contemporary style.

'We encourage our clients to visit the textile museum in Ahmedabad to get a sense of history of our handloom' – says Tanvi Sharma, a senior consultant with Compass.

Compass India takes immense pleasure in showcasing India's rich and diverse culture. Indian art is now gaining popularity and the canvas is changing. These are uplifting times for India's craft and textiles. Compass has reinvented its itineraries to include a peek into the weaver's lives. It conducts tours to the areas where handloom thrives and let our guests get a rare glimpse of this aspect of the country.

Gently Down the Ganges with Compass India Holidays

New Delhi, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/29/2015 -- The spirituality of the east has forever fascinated the west. The inquest for inner peace, the queries about the deeper aspects of life, the understanding of the essence of life, often end on the banks of the Holy Ganges. With the mystical river flowing by your side, the aesthetics of Rishikesh, Haridwar and Varanasi often casts a spell on you. The sacred river, is often associated with penance as well as pleasure and no one returns thwarted from its banks.

In this psychotic rush of today's world, people are losing their sense of balance. There are too many voices and it is loud. It takes immense effort to find your own. In the process, one tends to loosen the ties that bind them to their own reality. It is then you begin to look for the inner peace. This quest for truce leads you to India. It is the land of ancient culture, civilization and religion.

In the book, Eat Pray Love, The author, Elizabeth Gilbert, comes to India to pray. Why must you pray? Prayers calm you, prayers heal you. It leads you to a path; it guides you through the unknown terrain that you encounter in your journey of life.

India, with its centuries old traditions and rituals, lends a spirituality which balms your soul. Your inner most dormant energy gets rekindled. The ghats of the Holy Ganges, just helps you cast away your turmoil and refreshes from within.

The distinctive character of Indian Spirituality is its conscious and deliberate insistence on direct experience.

Early mornings are the best time to delve into the insights and let the spirit of the river engulf the rest of the being.

Rishikesh and Haridwar, situated at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas, has a poignant and calm effect. One can take part in the rituals or do some asanas under trained yogis. Yoga, with its roots embedded in the Indian soil, is a way of life for these Gurus.

Compass India Inc., a fifteen year old, luxury tour company offers various Yoga and meditation tours. "The spiritual journey into India, is incomplete without a yoga retreat" – Says, Anupama Singh, a senior travel expert with Compass.

Following the Ganges from the foothills of the Himalayas, to the culture-laden Varanasi, one discovers a multitude of experiences. Varanasi is more of a cultural hub. Along with Hinduism, it is a melting pot of other religions too. Sarnath, an important seat of Buddhism is just 10 kms away. Jainism too has a deep rooted past with Varanasi.

The myriad of temples, the miraculous waters, the mystical aura, lends a marvelous atmosphere in this small but busy town in India. Every evening, as the Sun sets for the day, there is an evening offering to the River Goddess. Thousands of candles or diyas are lit and set afloat on the river. The atmosphere reverberates with the chanting of hymns and prayers. The bells ring along with the rhythm of the chants. This is a soul stirring experience.

Explore the Mumbai Madness with Compass

New Delhi, India -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/05/2015 -- Warm and friendly Mumbai has many surprises in store. It is young, it is vibrant and it is the financial hub of India. Mumbai boasts of a diverse nature and a multi-cultural lifestyle. Take a detour from all things touristy and try something different in the Maximum city. It plays host to various cultural festivals. Discard your inhibitions and revel in these celebrations. The Kala Ghoda festival is one such fiesta, which showcases works of various artists in the field of art, music dance and theatre.

Take an evening off to watch a play at the Prithvi Theatre. Founded by Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer, it hosts plays throughout the year. It encourages young and upcoming directors and revers the legendary ones.

A delicious mix of history and the madness makes for a busy agenda in Mumbai. The Gateway of India tour is one of the most important facets of travel to Mumbai. The Elephanta Caves, Haji Ali Dargah and Marine Drive are some of the best of Mumbai attractions.

Mumbai is perhaps a unique city where other than the Museums and monuments, people throng to the locals getting along with their daily chores. The dhobi ghaat and the assembly of dabba wallas are always included in the tour packages to Mumbai.

Another sui generis feature that the city enjoys is its coastline. No other metropolitan city in India has that. You can spend the day just strolling on the Marine Drive or take a ferry to Elephanta caves.

Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd, suggest you take a sailboat and do a day cruise. Departing from the Gateway of India, sail pass some of the city's oldest Lighthouses with Seagulls soaring above your head. Sail past the naval base, a sight reserved only for the few fortunate, watch the shipping channel, where you can see ships leaving for distant lands leaving behind promises on lips and hopes in mind. You can go up to the deck, put your feet up and let the gentle splashing of waves, calm the chaos in you. Compass recommends watching the sunset from the deck, which will be one of the most memorable memories from a city called Mumbai.

The most ardent shopper might just tire, as Mumbai has so much to offer. Alongside the big brands, the most interesting artifacts and hidden treasures are waiting to be discovered. One of the most interesting places to visit in Mumbai is the Chor Bazar. It is a permanent flea market, with tumultuous mess shrouding it. Street shopping in Hill Road is a must too.

"A city tour is always incomplete without seeing a museum" – Says Durjay Sengupta, CEO of Compass India Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai has a few good one but my favourite are the Bhau Daji Lad and Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum", he adds.

Located at Byculla, The Bhau Daji Lad Museum steeps in Indian culture and history. Built in 1871, this grand structure is now revamped and restored under the watchful eyes of The Indian National Trust for Art and Culture Heritage. The museum houses a fine collection of 19th century paintings and pottery.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum founded in the early years of 20th century by eminent citizens of Mumbai is another attraction of Mumbai. The structure of the museum is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. Amongst other relics and artifacts, items from the daily lives of the people, belonging to the Indus Valley civilization are in display here.

Compass team members scoured the city and listed some of the best street food. A trip to Mumbai is incomplete without sampling some of these sumptuous, savory snacks. From vada pav (a potato cutlet fried in a batter, sandwiched between buns) at Anands to Keema (minced meat) pav at Olympia Coffee House, Mumbai spoils you with choices. There are many fine dining options too. Lying on the Konkan coast, Mumbai has fresh supply of seafood. The buzz around the world is over organic food. The prawns and crabs in your plate come from the day's catch and not from a distant, cold freezer. Food all over in Maharashtra is easy and quick to pull together. The essential logic is, food should be made with fresh and easily available ingredients.

Mumbai is synonymous with Bollywood or the Indian Film Industry. Many iconic studios like Film City and R.K. studios are here. On special requests, Bollywood tours can be arranged. If desired, one can drive past homes of famous movie stars.

About Compass India Holidays PL
Most of the itineraries are designed in a manner that it incorporates all the must see of Mumbai along with the various alternate options. Compass strives to give a different experience each time, so itineraries are always customized. New aspects are always added to the tour while bracing the old ones. They say you only live once, at Compass they say live a little more.

Compass Introduces Homestays with Noble Families of Rajasthan

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/25/2015 -- Rajasthan, the land of Maharajas, is famous for its opulent palaces, glorious castles and its massive forts. Over a period of time in History, some of the Princely order got stratified. Within the British rule of India, many Princely families were also considered as Noble families. These families held estates, but without sovereign rights. They enjoyed special privileges. These Noble families held court to administer justice, collected taxes owned agricultural land and estates. With the vagaries of time, some of these sanctions eroded away. Independent India cancelled Privy Purses and thus Royal and Noble families lost their political significance. Governments cannot change the colour of blood that runs through veins. Nor can it take away the erstwhile glory and the acquired heritage.

Most palaces got converted to luxury hotels. Most Noble families wandered outside the state to look for ways to sustain themselves. Some decided to join the armed forces, some decided to stay back in their ancestral homes.

Tourism opened its arms in India and Rajasthan became its poster boy. Most palaces, small and big turned into Luxury hotels run by renowned hospitality chains.

Away from this splendor, Compass tied up with a few of the Noble families, to give its guests an opportunity to delve into their lives, their homes. The idea was to give a glimpse of the past to its guests. Compass offers dinners hosted by these families in their homes. An evening well spent with the hosts, discussing events of the past, some untold story, a few gallant sacrifices, and perhaps a subdued romance. The family would shy away to talk about this in public, but within the ensconced walls of their private dining room, they seem much at ease and are often proud to share their history with you.

One such evening can spent at the Barwara Kothi will be a worthwhile experience. Barwara Kothi (bungalow) was Jaipur house of the Barwara Royal Family. Raja Man Singh of Barwara, a World War II veteran and an accomplished polo player who was a close confidante and cousin of the late Maharaja of Jaipur, Maharajah Sawai Man Singh, constructed the bungalow.

The bungalow is now under the care of a family who has a resplendent family history with Barwara being one of the five main principalities of the Jaipur state. The lady of the house who looks after this beautiful property and whose grandfather in law Rao Bahadur Raja Man Singh were related to Maharajah Sawai Man Singh of Jaipur. They were close to each other and hunted, partied and served together in the World War II.

Compass India Pvt.Ltd, a pioneer in crafting experiential travel memories has a special bond with Rajasthan. One of its key persons, Devi Pratap Singh, is a resident of Rajasthan. He has played a vital role in Compass's understanding of the Rajasthani sensibilities. Compass has revised its luxury Rajasthan tour package to include these special experiences with the Noble families. A meal, with such a family often renders the guests enthralled.

The dinner offers an authentic, mouthwatering Thali, served in the family silver along with the cutlery embossed with the family emblem, along with a wine, beer or fresh juice. As no meal is complete without dessert, sumptuous desserts are served to complete the meal. The food served follows the traditional recipe. It is a toned down version, keeping the guest's sensitive palette in mind, without altering the inherent taste and flavor of the dish.

Compass offers another option to experience this privilege with another family at the Castle Kanota. Castle Kanota provides a good example of history amalgamating with modern times. Spread over 8 acres of land, Castle Kanota, is a magnificent experience. Built in 1872, the Castle has a built-in Museum and a Library, which displays gold work and unique collection of rare and interesting books. The Castle takes you back to the grandeur of the past. The Royal and Nobel families have forever taken a lot of interest in cooking. Since they often went hunting, their cooks, who travelled with the hunting party, showed great innovation in preparing meals on the pot. These were then modified and refined for use in homes. Rajput royalty, generals and landlords generally had Muslim cooks, so a majority of the recipes that were revived have a distinct Mughlai flavor.

Thakur Zorawar Singh, the founder of the Kanota Thikana, belonged to the Champawat family of Pilwa, an estate of Jodhpur. He came to Jaipur in the year 1869 and joined the Jaipur administrative service. Due to his outstanding abilities as an administrator and sportsman, he became a confidant of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh of Jaipur. By the end of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh's reign, he had established himself as a prominent noble in Jaipur state and played an important role in the succession of Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh to the throne of Jaipur. He served the Jaipur royal family for 46 years.

A dinner with the Kanota family is a rare treat.

Indian Festivals – A Celebration of Its Culture

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/21/2015 -- India is famous for its festivals and festivity. As a secular country, India celebrates various festivals, which reflects its unique diversity. For Indians celebrations can be a gateway to the most hermetic aspects of life. It is in these celebrations that most Indians unite with their family, their own inner being, and their God.

There is saying in India, which when translated means 'We have 13 festivals for the 12 months of the year'. Festivals bring life to a state of exuberance and vehemence. It helps to forget the current woos and apathy, and dive right in to the centre of happiness. In the past, when rural livelihood was the way of life, there were a plethora of festivals. India has had an underlying agricultural economy. Everyday activities paved the way for festivals. They celebrated planting day, ploughing day. Harvest day is still celebrated in most parts of the country. Unlike new age calendars, Indian calendars take into account the Moon and planetary movements. Most festivals follow the Lunar Cycle. On a full moon day in spring, Holi gets celebrated. Diwali, the festival of lights, gets celebrated on a new moon day, late in autumn. Eid, the month long festival of fasting and feasting ends with the sighting of the moon.

There are various festivals in India. Some notable once are, Lohri, Sankranti (harvest festivals) Holi, Eid-ul-Fitr, Dusshera, Diwali and Christmas.

Compass India Pvt.Ltd, a destination management company operating in the Indian Subcontinent for the last 15 years conducts customized group and individual tours on Holi and Dusshera. If one is planning to visit India during any festival, and wishes to take part or witness the gaiety, Compass encircles the itinerary around that. This gives the guest to experience the exuberance of Indian festivals.

People of North India celebrate Holi with more vigour. Legend has it that once an arrogant ruler insured himself through some deep meditation. The Gods then granted him the fatal boon of invincibility. This turned the vicious king into an oppressive tyrant. He wanted his subjects to denounce God and worship him, their King. His son though, was a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu and did not bow before his father. The infuriated father, then with the help of his wicked sister, Holika, tricked Prahlad to perform a yagya or ceremony. A huge pyre, built under the instructions of the ruthless king and his sister Holika, was ready for this act. She sat on it, wearing a robe, which was supposed to shield her from the raging fire. Prahlad sat on her lap. The plan was to immolate Prahlad and she would remain unscathed. God and destiny had other plans; the cloak flew off and enwrapped itself on Prahlad and the wicked Holika, reduced to ashes. Lord Vishnu then killed Prahlad's father. The people of the empire then smeared themselves and each other with those ashes and celebrated the conquest of good over evil. Even today, a bonfire is lit a day before Holi, and next day people apply colours, both dry and wet to each other.

Holi is also a festival of Love, though colours are often used in its celebration. People of Mathura and Vrindavan celebrate Holi with great passion. As per Mythology, the young and dashing God, Krishna was dark skinned and often sulked due to this. When he fell in love with the fair skinned Radha, He was in deep anguish. He was in a quandary whether Radha would accept him as her lover. To this his mother told him to go to Radha and apply any colour on her face and judge for himself whether she appreciates this move or not. Needless to mention she loved this expression of love and took Krishna as her lover.

One can experience this gay abandon in Vrindavan, even today. With Compass's special Holi package tour, one can take part in this festival. The tour escorts are well trained and take all measures to keep the safety of the clients in mind. Compass encourages its guests to enjoy Holi with dry organic colours only.

Navratri, culminating with Dusshera is a cultural festival of great significance. It is about various embodiment of female god or goddess. In different parts and states of India She gets worshipped. This festival is all about the feminine divinity. In the eastern parts of India, She is Durga. According to religious scriptures, She empowered with various weapons bestowed upon her from several gods, killed the demon-god, Asura. After her victory she descends from heaven, and comes to spend a few days with her own people with her four children in tow. Five days of revelry follows. Today, the festival is often celebrated as a community. Various pandals or decorated tents get erected. Inside them are well decorated idols of Durga along with her four children. The pundits chant mantras and hymns all day. Fruits and sweets are offered to the Goddess and later distributed among the devotees. Cultural shows are often followed by various competitions where everyone can take part. In Bengal, some noble families have their own individual Pujas. There is a lot of history attached to each one of them. Family stories dating back to centuries are often associated with these. A special kind of gangetic clay is the main component in making these idols. There are special potters who speialize in making the idols. They live in colonies marked only for them. Kumartuli, the colony where these idol makers live make and export idols too.

Durjay Sengupta, CEO of Compass is from Bengal and has a deep- rooted connection with this region. Compass coordinates with some of these family-oriented Pujas and Compass's patrons can experience this week- long celebrations first hand and revel in the festivity.

Diwali, the festival of lights is the celebration of Lord Rama coming back home along with his wife and brother after fourteen years of exile. While in exile his wife got kidnapped by Ravan, a demon king. Lord Rama, along with his brother Laxman and friend Hanuman vanquished Ravan and his troops and returned home, victorious. Everyone residing in his kingdom lit up oil lamps to illuminate the town of Ayodhya and welcomed Him with joy and gaiety. In modern times, oil lamps have now given way to candles and tea lights. In the world engulfing us, darkness is just an absence of light. Diwali is a celebration of clarity and enlightenment. The spirit of ebullience continues. People go to each other's house and exchange sweets and best wishes. Displays of fireworks can be seen from various places.

In India, there is a theorem. Irrespective of personal differences, often enmity, people forgive each other on days of these festivals and bury their hatchet. It emits a joyous vibe, which whelms the entire neighbourhood or community. The spirit of cheer is often contagious.

Compass believes in this doctrine and imbibes all its tenets. While curating itineraries, encasing client's comfort and interest in mind, Compass ensures, that the warmth of the Indian people and a glimpse of its inherent culture is not overlooked. While on a festival tour of India with Compass, one can be assured of enjoying the savoir-faire within their comfort zone.

Venture Into India - from Its Southern Gateways

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/13/2015 -- The south of India opens its gates to the world through four international airports, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi and Hyderabad. India, like any other country has geographic divisions. In a broad aspect, it is divided into the Northern half and the Southern half. With its culture, customs, architecture and habitat the two divisions are poles apart. The language is different too. Though most of all southern states have working knowledge of English, Hindi, the National language of the country is not spoken at all. All four states speak four different languages, yet they are bound by similar traditions and customs. This is where the uniqueness of diversity emerges and appeals to the rest of the world. People in the southern states are more mellowed and appear humble than their northern counterparts. This epiphany hits the traveller as soon as one sets foot into the country. If the visitor has already been to North India, this is more palpable.

There is so much to see and experience in South India. The coastal area of Kerala, with it swaying palms and intimate breeze captivates the visitor with an effortless ease. Its languorous backwaters and innumerable canals have earned it the nickname of 'The Venice of the East'. Kerala's tranquil breeze and mellowed charm soothes the weary but eager traveller right away. Compared to the rest of the country, Kerala scores in the hygiene factor as well. Lack of shantytowns and organized garbage disposal contributes to this pristine surrounding. Though it is famous for its backwaters and Houseboat tours, the remnants of a rich Jewish and Portuguese culture is hard to ignore.

Compass India Pvt. Ltd, with its office in Cochin offers various South India travel packages. With Rajeesh, a veteran in the industry at the helm of affairs, Compass ensures a smooth and clamor-free travel experience for its revered clients. 'We are here to provide an ultimate travel experience for our guests. We believe that only a local can understand the nuances of our diverse culture and show the country from our perspective' – says Rajeesh.

The temple town of Tamil Nadu, though a little more vigorous than the sleepy Kerala, attracts a large number of tourists for its Architecture. The richness in its cultural aspects makes it a must-do destination. Home to one of the oldest civilization, Tamil Nadu is famous both for its natural beauty and architectural bounty. The rule of the various dynasties, The Cholas, The Pandyas and The Cheras contributed to its rich heritage. Compass's South India vacation packages weave an ideal itinerary taking threads from all facets and present an immaculate holiday plan.

Today, Chennai and its neighbouring towns are one of the safest places to travel, indeed for women too. It is a common sight to see young girls zip in and out with their feisty two-wheelers. The crime rate here is in contrast, low. Lower crime rate indicates safer roads and safer travel options. Though petty crimes occur in any part of the world and no one can provide a cent percent guarantee for safety.

Relics of the Nizam's rule dot the city of Hyderabad, another gateway of the South. A strong Mughal influence permeated into the city's cuisine. The Hyderabadi Biryani, a mughlai dish made with rice and meat, and Haleem are famous worldwide. Qutb Shah built the noted mosque Charminar, standing tall at 56 meters at the heart of the city. It was built the mosque to commemorate the eradication of plague. The city is famous for its traditional bazaars – marketplace for the common man.

The Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru, is popular for its night -life. It is evident by the number of pubs and breweries that have emerged in the last few years. Well-connected arterial roads with the main city centre attributes furthermore to the popularity of these bars, most of them, serve draught beers and other popular beers from worldwide.

Bengaluru is well connected by road to various wildlife reserves and National Parks in South India. Keeping the guests comfort in mind, Compass, tenders various wildlife tours in South India.

With a surge of travel into the South of Vindhyas, many international airlines are adding more services to airports in this region. This will open up more travel options for travellers looking to connect from various European and American cities. From this vantage point, Compass has redesigned its South India Vacation packages to cater to the judicious traveller.

India's Premier Luxury Tour Company Focuses on Eco Tourism

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/03/2015 -- Travel for leisure's sake is tourism. For most people, there is a deep, satisfying sense in travelling to a new place, to witness new surroundings, newer habitat and seeing things never experienced. There is a growing need in urban people to see natural habitat and their harboured wildlife before they diminish from this brutal, urbane world. Eco Tourism is travel to these exotic destinations, specifically to admire and enjoy wildlife and explore indigenous cultures.

Compass India Pvt. Ltd has pledged to promote Eco Tourism as it fears India's glorious wildlife is in the meanwhile losing its sheen. There are approximately 1400 Royal Bengal Tigers left in the wild. Compass India, through its specially designed luxury tour packages, has several itineraries to choose from. Ranthambhore, Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench are just a few of the National parks where The Royal Bengal Tiger and other predator and prey species like leopards, Sloth Bears, Wild Dogs, Jackals, and Spotted Deer are visible. "We have designed our tours and vacation packages to suit the client's demand keeping their comfort and enthusiasm is mind", said a Compass spokesperson. "Since we are committed to the environment, we choose our resorts with great care. Using Solar Panels, methodical disposal of waste and use of organic food are our main concerns while we decide on the resorts'. She added.

The best time for viewing wildlife in India is, the summer. The dry scorching heat of the enraged sun forces animals to come out of their comfort zones and tread towards the various waterholes. These are perhaps the best times to spot the animals.

The Compass team mentioned that along with designing the various wildlife tour packages to India, they try to include a glimpse into the cultural life as well. 'With the help of the local villagers and the resort owners, we create special evenings for our clients. These often include folk dances, visiting the village homes and volunteering to teach in the village schools'.

Various kinds of accommodation are available in Ranthambhore, Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench. A former hunting joint of an ex Royal to a more basic thatched roof and mud-walled houses, to open air machans to luxurious tents, the options are plenty. "We ask our clients if they have any specific needs and keeping their comfort level we often suggest what we think will suit our guests the most" said Anupama, Senior marketing consultant" We can guarantee the best Indian wildlife tour along with a soul enriching experience. She added.

Experience the Beautiful, Blossoming, Burma (Myanmar) with Compass India Holidays

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/24/2015 -- For many years, Burma now known as Myanmar remained an outcast state. Post the British rule, its neighboring countries thrived, but Myanmar remained isolated from the rest of the world. Myanmar's wealth of Buddhist Pagodas and ancient temples has now boosted the tourism industry.

Myanmar's culture is a result of heavy Indian influences sublimely woven with local traditions. It feels like visiting a page in history, which got warped in time. It gives you a taste of the fascinating and distinct ways of life of the locals who live on the edge of the modern world. It is now opening up to the modern world as sanctions are disappearing and more gateways are opening up. Tourism has wised up to the potential of the minority peoples and is creating a niche market for itself.

Along with ancient pagodas and monasteries, Myanmar also boasts of almost 2000 meters of coastline. It has some of the finest stretches of beach in Asia, undiscovered by tourists, unspoiled by development. Most of these beaches face west hence is idyllic for viewing sunrises and sunsets.

Compass Tours, a well know luxury Travel Company in the Indian Subcontinent, has now expanded its operations and network and are providing Myanmar tour packages from India.

"On the insistence of our clients, we decided to include tours to Myanmar to our repertoire. Having travelled half across the globe, our clients wanted to experience a little more of The Orient. Since Burma is linked, both geographically and culturally to India, it blended naturally and beautifully into our efforts in giving our esteemed clients an added flavor to explore." – says Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass Holidays Pvt. Ltd.

Since Myanmar is taking its baby steps into the world of tourism, its infrastructure is still nascent. Compass with its vast experience in handling discerning travellers for 15 years serves as the perfect foil. Our escorts and guides are well trained and will take your likes and dislikes into account. From domestic flights to boats rides, attending local rituals to giving a deep insight into the daily lives of the tribal people, Compass handles the smallest details of the journey with utmost efficiency.

Myanmar has 3 specific seasons. The hot and dry season starts from March till May. The rains come and bring the temperatures down during June to October. The rains also bring in humidity. On a hot afternoon with temperatures touching 40 degrees, and a relative humidity of almost 90 pct., it tends to get a little uncomfortable. The best time to visit Myanmar is between November and February.

People of this warm and hospitable country are quite friendly and polite. The influence of Buddhism is one of the reasons. As modernism is creeping in, the internet is slow and may not have an easy access. You will need to carry plenty of cash. There are few ATMs around and credit cards are accepted only in 5Star establishments and upmarket stores. Make sure the dollar bills you carry are new, fresh and unfolded bills. Creased, folded and weary bills have no value in Myanmar. Do not worry about carrying large amounts of cash with you as the crime against foreigners is rare and not unheard of.
Experience the Vibrant Pushkar Fair 2015 with Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd.

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/06/2015 -- Throughout the year, people from Rajasthan and all around India wait for this auspicious time in November when the much-awaited Pushkar fair takes place. Along with the buying and selling of camels, other kinds of cattle change hands too. A variety of cultural and sporting events take place. Men and women can dress up in all their finery and colourful attire.

The fair reaches a crescendo on the night of the full moon in November. Pilgrims come from far and near to take a dip in the holy lake situated at Pushkar. The lake has 52 Ghats. People believe that taking a dip in the lake during this time cleanses their souls and washes out all sins. A journey to Pushkar is a cleansing of sorts. After a dip in the sacred water, people proceed to light a lamp. As the Sun begins it's descend, hundreds of lamps or votive are lit and floated on small boats made of leaves. This creates a soul-stirring atmosphere. A sign of hope and forgiveness comes alive as the itinerant Bhil and Langa minstrels start singing in their attempt to reach out to the Almighty.

Camel races take place. Along with this, there are various other competitions like horse race and a competition to determine who has the longest moustache. Cricket matches between locals and visiting foreigners are popular too.

To take part in the Pushkar fair, camels get shaved, cleaned, and adorned with colourful pom-poms, beaded camel jewelry and other embellishments. There are other animals too, but camels steal the show.

Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd, being a pioneer in organizing luxury tours to Rajasthan, has added various extra specials in their Pushkar Camel Safari Tour.

"You must reserve at least one day in your itinerary for Pushkar. If you are coming to Rajasthan, then you cannot go without visiting Pushkar," says Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass. Pushkar is perhaps the only known place in the world to have a temple of Bramha. Some reports state that there is one in Indonesia too, but it is most unknown.

Pushkar is well located. It can be woven into the itinerary, which includes Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur. Our travel experts always recommend Pushkar Camel fair tour if one plans to visit Northern India.

There are a few places to visit near Pushkar too. The holy town of Ajmer is just 16 kms away. It has the mausoleum of the renowned Sufi saint, Khwaja – Moin-ud-din-Chisti. It is sacred as per Hindus and Muslims.

The enigmatic Khimsar Fort lies approx. 125 Kms away from Pushkar. Amidst the sand dunes of the majestic Thar Desert, this fort has a rich history and a splendorous presence.

Famous for its style of painting, the dainty town of Kishangarh is 32 Kms away from Pushkar. It is the marble hub of the country.

The Pushkar fair activities are best enjoyed in the mornings. As the day progresses, it gets got and the crowd can get a bit overwhelming. The evenings are best enjoyed by the serenity of the Ghat under a million stars.

The guides often narrate captivating stories about the fair and the mystic of Pushkar. Their tales along with the vibrant visuals of the fair, bring alive the grandeur of Rajasthan. The Pushkar fair is a spectacle on an epic scale. Tradition meets spirituality and transcendence into a hallucinating marvel.

The Pushkar fair tour is customized and the number of days varies as per the client's interest.

This is an open to all spectacle. Attending the fair can be strenuous and tiring, especially if the client is not used to the sheer number of people present at the fair. Compass ensures that one gets to see and do as per personal goals without getting too exhausted.

Compass India Holidays Reintroduces the 17 Day Leh Ladakh Tours: Experience the Surreal Beauty of Ladakh

A beautiful land of endless discoveries, with fantastical and surreal landscapes, this is one of the highest inhabited plateaus in the world. Vistas of barren, jagged arid mountains, spectacular topography, picture perfect gompas, white washed stupas, meandering rivers and emerald blue lakes –the beauty of this magical land has been beckoning travelers and explorers for centuries.

Being the largest city of Ladakh, Leh enjoys the maximum tourism and is home to several Buddhist monasteries, study centers and monuments. It is surely a dream destination for tourists with a plethora of attractions to visit and various exciting adventure sports to enjoy.

Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd., a luxury and experiential travel with an expertise in crafting customized itineraries for discerning travelers has now revised and reintroduced its 17 day Leh Ladakh Tour.

"In such harsh environs, the word luxury takes on a different meaning. This is more about the immersive experience than about the mere trappings of luxury with opulent hotel accommodations, extravagant splurges or fancy trimmings. This is an experience of a lifetime, a visual treat for your eyes, and a meeting place of the Gods where one loses all concept of time and surrenders to the surreal beauty of the place. What our guests are really paying for is a privileged glimpse into Ladakhi life, easy access to a concentrated experience of another culture." says Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass Holidays Pvt. Ltd.

Travelling to Ladakh entails a lot of logistical planning and organizing. This is where the experience of a travel management company like Compass comes in handy. With their global outreach and local expertise they have an insider's access to deliver a seamless and stress free vacation. Deluxe camps, bottled water throughout the journey, an escort and guide that accompanies the guests during the trip, visit to Ladakhi homes with possible stays and meals are included in the package.

From the flights to ground travel, arranging the highway passes or Inner line permits to access the most remote uninhabited lands, Compass handles the minutest details of the journey with extreme professionalism and efficiency.

The best time to visit Leh is between May and September, when the weather is the warmest. It takes two days for each of these journeys and the roads remain open for only few months a year starting from May/June through September/October. It is a good idea to travel by road to acclimatize to the high altitude and thin air, instead of taking a flight to Leh. Take it slow for the first two days and avoid any sort of physical exertion and drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol and a medical checkup prior to the trip would be a good idea too. A hat, dark glasses, a good sunblock, comfortable walking shoes are a must. Nights still get chilly during the summer so do bring warm clothes to layer. These are of course a few mandatory details to consider before embarking on this life changing journey.

This transformative journey begins in the capital city of New Delhi – a city which is a unique blend of the past and present, a perfect introduction to the composite culture of an ancient land and a window to the kaleidoscope - that is India.

Heading onwards to Manali – a picturesque hill station by road, and explore the many temples of this quaint town. An adventurous drive through Rohtang Pass (altitude 13050 feet) brings the travelers to Jispa with a view of snowcapped peaks and gorgeous glaciers. A spectacular drive with overnight stops in deluxe tents at Sarchu and Karzok brings the guests to Leh, the capital of Ladakh and an abode of the Buddhist spiritual seekers. Its splendid beauty with majestic mountains, deep blue water, white dunes, Buddhist monasteries, beautiful mosques and warm people draws visitors from world over. The most imposing of these is the Shanti Stupa, located just outside the town. In the heart of the town, on top of a steep mountain, the 800 year old Kali Mandir houses a fascinating collection of masks, also be sure to visit the 17th century Leh palace built in traditional Tibetan architectural style.

Located at a distance of 160 kms from Leh, the Nubra Valley is a place of beauteous scenery, with the lush green valley standing in sharp contrast to the barren mountains.

Enjoy a highly adventurous drive via the highest motorable Khardongla Pass (5580m) to the "Valley of flowers "or as it's sometimes locally known as the "Valley of Gods". There are the ever present mountains of towering rocks in myriad colors, the Shyok River flowing in the center, the snowcapped mountains on the right horizon and the green patches of farmland sprinkled along the bubbling stream. Towering over all this is the newly built monument of the Maitreya Buddha that stands at a gigantic height of 106 feet, watching over the entire valley.

The escort and guide on this tour arranges for the clients to visit and see a typical Ladakhi home, with its combined sitting and dining room, the guest room, the ceremonial visiting room and of course the temple without which no Ladakhi home is complete. Riding on a double –humped camel across the white sand dunes is a must do for every visitor.

The tour can be tweaked, personalized and more destinations can be added according to the client's preferences, time and budget.

Away from the dins and bustles of city life, this tour will leave everlasting imprints. Capture these beguiling moments and take back home memories of this magical land, its untouched pristine beauty and the warmth of its people.
Positively energizing the mind, using effective breathing techniques, exercising , feeding the body the right kind of seasonal foods are some ways to help eliminate this stress. Translated as "the science of life", Ayurveda is a five thousand year old healing system that originated in India, focusing on establishing and maintaining balance of mind, body, spirit in a healthy and holistic way.
Ayurveda is a complete way of life, based on preventing disease and enhancing health, longevity and vitality. Ayurveda aims to achieve harmony and balance and believes in the treatment of not just the affected part, but the individual as a whole, ensuring it is the natural way to a refreshed soul, free of toxic imbalances - a key to better health and resistance to disease.
There are staggeringly large numbers of tourist attractions in India, given its vast, varied and gorgeous topography .World heritage sites, golden sun-kissed deserts, historical monuments, formidable forts, palatial palaces that narrate stories of its rich colorful past. Treatment
According to the Ayurvedic principles, every person is made of a combination of five basic elements found in the universe: Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth.

These elements combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas and they control how the body works. Today Ayurveda is widely recognized as a unique indispensable branch of medicine, a complete naturalistic system that depends on the diagnosis of your body's humours - vata, pitta and kapha - to achieve the right balance.

The therapies are applied to treat all kinds of chronic and lifestyle disorders such as diabetes, arthritis, stress, migraine, high blood pressure, skin diseases, asthma, spondylitis, obesity and sexual disorders, amongst others. From beauty care to stress management and from slimming program to stress management and anti-aging program, this system offers a lot of options.

Luxury Honeymoon Tours in God's Own Country with Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd

The word Honeymoon has its origins that date backs to the 15th century and defined as the traditional holiday taken by newlyweds to celebrate their marriage in intimacy and seclusion –A time to discover and know each other amidst the most beautiful surroundings before you embark on the journey of life.

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/16/2015 -- "Travel is about the gorgeous feeling of teetering in the unknown."

The word Honeymoon has its origins that date backs to the 15th century and defined as the traditional holiday taken by newlyweds to celebrate their marriage in intimacy and seclusion –A time to discover and know each other amidst the most beautiful surroundings before you embark on the journey of life.

India has become one of the most sought after, popular destinations for newlyweds looking for exotic and romantic getaways. An eclectic and unique amalgamation of diverse cultures, rich heritage, gorgeous landscapes and the famous traditional hospitality makes this incredible land a perfect choice for an unforgettable vacation.

Finding a honeymoon destination is a tedious task for any individual. India has an abundance of romantic destinations where you can go for your honeymoon and the country is home to stunning beaches, charming quaint hill stations, golden –amber deserts with sun kissed sand dunes and a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds and colors.

In an interesting conversation on the subject, Mr. Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd. elucidated "We at Compass strive to deliver seamless and authentic experiences to our clients that are tailor made to their desires and inclinations. Your dream day should be followed by a dream holiday which is stress –free, relaxing and enjoyable. Our newly wed clients can choose from our exquisitely crafted Honeymoon packages and our travel specialists will be with them at every step to help them plan a perfect and romantic vacation."

Kerala is renowned across the globe as the last paradise for good reasons. It is therefore no wonder that it is also known as Good's own country and second to none as one of world's most popular honeymoon destinations. Despite its limited size Kerala is blessed with a multitude with natural riches, and booming tourism has seen wide variety of choices for luxury holidays.

For a couple on a honeymoon trip, few places match the privacy and the green lusciousness of this tropical land.

Time seems to stand still along the tranquil, palm fringed backwaters. Occasionally, one get a glimpse of the pastoral Kerala lifestyle, set against verdant green landscape of paddy fields, spice and tea plantations and coconut palm groves.

The backwaters, a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast are an integral a part of the lives of its people and a kaleidoscope for the visitors to see the rural and real life in the heart of Kerala. Exploring this labyrinthine network of waterways, which weave through villages amidst lush vegetation, offers glimpses of Kerala's unique rural lifestyle where land and water are inseparable.

Kumarakom and Alleypey –the "Venice of the East "are the two major starting points for boat-cruises with spectacular lagoons and vast network of canals. In this maze of shimmering water, village life has evolved completely independently from the world that depends on roads. Hundreds of villages string along the banks between paddy fields and mangroves with green shady palms arching over the canals.

Cruising through the backwaters on a traditional thatched houseboat called the "Ketuvallams "equipped with modern amenities, it is easy to forget the chaos and humdrum of life. Lying on the deck under the star spangled sky, with the houseboat lazily skimming the water, and the stillness adds to the romance. Tranquil and mysterious, the backwaters feature prominently among the highlights of this Luxury Kerala Honeymoon tour in exotic South India.

Idyllic Munnar is another extremely popular destination favored by honeymooners on this South India trip – a haven of peace and tranquility, undisturbed by the outside world. Drenched in the beauty of natural greens and sweeping mist, Munnar is truly a heaven on earth. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft. in Idukki district, Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. expanse of tea plantations - pristine valleys and lush green mountains- exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests with the aroma of spices, and tea permeating the cool air. The rolling hills covered in the blanket of clouds offer a spell-binding and resplendent sight with the veils of mist covering the mountaintops. The best time to visit Munnar is from August to May. One can indulge in an array of adventurous activities such as trekking, paragliding, natural trails and bird watching.

These are just suggested itineraries by Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd which the guests can tweak or plan according to their pace, time and preferences. So choose from the array of choices of Kerala tour packages and set off on a sojourn to create beguiling memories with a symphony of emotions with your loved one.

Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd. Reintroduces the Pan India Toy Train Tour

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/04/2015 -- The British colonial legacy of India left behind one important foundation which is still maintained and appreciated to this very day - a breathtaking railway system, known as Mountain Railways of India.

Tiny small trains fondly referred to as "Toy Trains" that run on historic railway lines are incomparable triumphs of engineering and the finest examples of innovative transportation systems .Built through difficult inaccessible hill terrains, these had a great influence on the socio-economic development of these regions.

Extremely popular with locals and tourists alike, these toy train rides take you down memory lane and awaken the inner child in you. An unforgettable experience as the train chugs up the hills, past little quaint hamlets, green terraced fields, making its way through long, winding tunnels, and over breathtaking bridges.

The slow pace offers a spectacular, panoramic view of the changing vistas while the fresh crisp mountain air and the charm of the scenic hills provide a much needed respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life.

Built during the nineteenth and early twentieth century, these narrow or meter gauge lines were a pioneer effort to access the tough mountainous regions, especially Shimla – the once summer capital of British India, Darjeeling known for its tea gardens and scenic views, Ooty in the Nilgiri Mountains of the South and Matheran in the Western Ghats.

UNESCO has in fact listed these three manmade marvels of the country – which include Kalka-Shimla, Nilgiris and Darjeeling Himalayan Railways - as World Heritage Sites.

"If you want to truly see this incredible country unfold before you, to understand the people and the land, there isn't anything better than an exhilarating train ride. "says Mr. Durjay Sengupta , the CEO of Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd. luxury travel management company. For all train spotting enthusiasts who want to explore this culturally and topographically land, a train ride offers a multitude of authentic experiences. Since its inception Compass Holidays has constantly strived to showcase the very best of India through their finally crafted, personalized tour packages.

Mr. Sengupta further elaborated," All of our specially designed tours along these mountain routes include an invigorating ride on these toy trains and all our guests enjoy it thoroughly."

The Kalka-Shimla Railway was built in the mid-19th century and this rail route features in the Guinness Book of World Records for offering the steepest rise in altitude in the space of 96 kms. This distance of 96 kms passes through 102 tunnels and 87 bridges and connects Kalka at a height of 656 meter to Shimla at 2076 meters. With 900 curves , this scenic 5 hour journey goes past pine trees, oak valleys , deodar, rhododendron forests is a treat for the eyes . Spectacular scenery along the whole route, and the marvels of its construction, keeps the traveler on this line spell bound.

A Thrilling Adventure in the Wild with Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd.

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/21/2015 -- A haven for wild life enthusiasts, India attracts globetrotters from across the world to spend their holidays in exotic wild locales and dense forests which were immortalized by Rudyard Kipling.

With around 99 National parks in India and more than 450 sanctuaries, choosing the best place to soak in the natural heritage, can be quite a daunting task.

Given the vastness, the diverse topography, spectacular landscapes and varied climate, it's quite an assignment to choose from the many wildlife travel options, but having said that, most globe-trotters would agree that the holy grail of any safari is spotting the big cat-the elusive tiger. India is estimated to be home to around 70 percent of the world's tiger's. The dwindling population of tigers is now steadily rising thanks to the number of government initiatives to streamline tiger conservation through the National Tiger Conservation Authority Act and Project Tiger. Tiger population in India is now estimated to be 2,226 in 2014, according to the latest report.

To have a personal encounter with this majestic animal, travel to Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh or Kanha. The Southern region in India has the top elephant safaris, while the north eastern states offer a more off-beaten path experience. Most parks are closed during the monsoon season (June-Oct) and spring (Feb-May) is the best time for a Wild Life Tour in India.

Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd. offers an array of choices and bespoke experiences for the discerning traveller looking for a thrilling adventure in the wild. "Whether it is tracking a tiger in the jungle at Ranthambore or the deep dense forests of Bandhavgarh or Kanha, we at Compass offer you unparalleled luxury amidst awe-strikingly beautiful locations. You will be accompanied by experienced guides and trackers who share their in-depth knowledge about the area to enrich your holiday." says the CEO of the company Mr. Durjay Sengupta. He further added, that these tours are completely flexible personalized and specially designed to suit the preferences, time and budget of the discerning traveller. Choose from the many featured wild life tour packages or itineraries combining action, culture and relaxation.

A 13 day suggested wild life tour with Compass encompasses a variety of National parks and reserves, taking the clients on an exhilarating thrilling ride.

Delhi, the starting point of this journey is a remarkable blend of the past and the present. The city features architectural brilliance of the British and Mughal buildings such as the Rashtrapati Bhawan and Red Fort to the contemporary brilliance of several amusement parks, shopping malls, and party hubs.

Head to Ranthambore National Park, the former hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Jaipur. Stay at Aman-i-Khas, perhaps the most luxurious and stylish safari lodge in Asia. Known for its tiger population, Ranthambore is among the biggest national parks of northern India that sprawls over an area of 392 sq. km. Go on a tiger safari; explore the fort and the abundant flora and fauna of this sprawling park. Ranthambore was among one of the very first sanctuaries to come under the aegis of Project Tiger and from a few dozens the number of tigers have increased to a little over a hundred. Most of the big cats are so secure and protected that they can be seen hunting during the day particularly around the two lakes.

From here travel to Agra visiting the walled city of Fatehpur Sikri en-route to the pristine white embodiment of eternal love the magnificent Taj Mahal. No words can aptly describe the visual experience of witnessing the Taj Mahal at sunset with the marble monument changing shades from orange to rose red –a scenario so pure, intense and spiritual that it leaves you in a hypnotic trance.

Back on the tiger track; arrive at Bandhavgarh, a major hit with visitors. Snuggled between the hilly Vidhyan areas and the Satpura ranges and blessed with some of the best of nature's bounty. Great rocky hills, lush deciduous forests, marshes and meadows make Bandhavgarh one of India's most scenic areas. This park has still an enviable number of Royal Bengal Tigers, so be sure to go on every possible safari trip, especially the elephant safari.

The last leg of this trip brings the animal lovers to Kanha National Park, the nucleus of tiger preservation in the country.

Take an open-jeep safari in the wild and experience the electrifying adventure of locating animals in their element to truly discover nature and wildlife at its glorious best. Kanha is the setting of Kipling's 'Jungle Book', a beautiful area of lush sal and bamboo forests with grassy meadows, streams and ravines. It is the home of a variety of animals including Barasingha (Swamp Deer), tiger, panther, and many species of deer, wild pig, bison, a variety of monkeys besides some 200 species of birds.

Home to the most exotic and fascinating flora and flora, the Indian wilderness leaves all travellers bedazzled. Capture these moments and cherish these beguiling memories forever.

Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd. Redefines "Luxury Travel"

New Delhi, India -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/13/2015 -- The word luxury is defined as "indulgence in and enjoyment of rich, comfortable and sumptuous living".

The spontaneous response from most people about luxury travel is amazingly luxurious hotels, first class travel and high experience. Luxury travel can mean different things for different people, but most discerning travellers agree that exclusive, personalized and unique authentic experiences make a vacation truly memorable. Relaxation, stress –free travel with complete flexibility and safety are the strongest key drivers for luxury travel.

So how does one achieve this? Explore the options available on the web, customize a tour and set off on the journey. But as easy as it sounds it comes with its own risks.

India is a vast country, a symphony of diverse cultures, people, varied landscapes, faiths and religion which can be quite overwhelming to a first time visitor or even the most seasoned traveller.

Landing in a completely alien country in the middle of the night (mostly), tired and jet lagged, waiting to find a local cab to take you to the hotel, and not knowing the routes, the local customs or language can be very unnerving and distressing and more so in an intense country like India. Whilst booking online, a lot of visitors often fall for "low cost" tour packages from small time tour operators, and are then fleeced on costs for travel between destinations and excursions, and are subjected to low quality guides, hotels, tours and facilitators. Also a lot of information available on the web can often be outdated and incorrect.

In today's world with a plethora of options to choose from and the myriad tools available online, with each luxury travel management company claiming to be better than the rest , it can be quite a daunting task to decide upon the best tour operator for a smooth hassle free holiday. The best travel agents are essentially "travel advisors," or niche specialists because it is their advice, expertise, and connections that are of great value .It pays to use a luxury tour operator with up to date knowledge and expertise to deliver a seamless travel experience.

One of the most leading luxury tour operators in India - Compass India Holidays Pvt. Ltd is a veteran in the luxury travel sector .Mr. Durjay Sengupta, the CEO of Compass concurred on the subject, elaborating further ," Luxury travel is not limited to only opulent resorts, fancy hotel properties or first class cabins. It goes beyond and more, it is an understanding of the client needs and paying acute attention to the smallest details which can elevate an ordinary experience to extraordinary. Starting from the first time the client lands in India to his return, our team at Compass ensures a dream vacation with security, safety and utmost comfort."

Most global travellers and travel experts now place more emphasis on personalized service, enriching travel experiences than the mere physical trappings and accoutrements of luxury. On the contrary most global travellers often want to experience the destination in an authentic way without masking it with over the top indulgence. In fact it is a misnomer that luxury travel is only for the very affluent section of the society. A perfect holiday is a combination of cultural exploration, exceptional character accommodations and transformative inspiring experiences.

Compass takes great pride in being one of the most reputed tour operators in India as the statistics prove with 35% of repeat and referrals as well as the umpteen client testimonials on their website.

Whether it is about special requests, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, medical contingencies, internet connectivity, personal mobile phones, nothing is out of bounds and no request too small for Compass.

With their local expertise, and global outreach Compass presents the rich heritage, ancient traditions, spiritual mysticism and colorful history of India to their clients with an intimate approach.

Exploring the local villages, watching the skilled artisans at work, going for a yoga retreat, bathing an elephant, going for a culinary tour, tracking a tiger in the dense jungles ,or discovering oneself on a spiritual tour, are just some of the many options that add to the exclusivity of this immersive journey.

India is one of the most sought after destinations because of its diversity that attracts tourists from all over the world. With the growth of tourism and world class infrastructural facilities, travel in India has come a long way with the innumerable array of choices from first class airlines, royal luxurious trains, competitive prices, boutique hotel properties and opulent heritage palatial palaces .What sets it apart from other destinations is the local culture, the warmth and the traditional Indian hospitality that makes it incomparable in quality and service.

So embark on this journey, unravel the true meaning of luxury and enrich the inner world and indulge the outer senses.
