SDR Reveals Own Powerful Version of a RAR Extractor, Still Free of Charge

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/10/2014 -- SDR reveals the third free software resource they have added to their current lineup on CNET Download center. This is their new Free RAR Extractor Software. Software Development Resource President Steven Coluido has this to say: "Our team has been most successful in providing free software resources to the public since our launch earlier this year, in fact to strengthen our current CNET standing, this third release will add up to our current strong lineup. Our number software on CNET is our CDA to MP3 converter now with 15, 120 downloads and counting".

RAR Files Explained

RAR is a type of proprietary archival data format [in contrast with container types which houses a lot of different file types], these types of files are often just compressed files.

Most users consider this format as an easy way to share large files across the internet or networks. Most email providers often have limited attachment file capacity and when this happens, decompression can solve the problem.

Non-techie persons may find it very difficult to open nor use are the files are decompressed for easier saving or online transferring options. RAR files are usually made when files are compressed in a folder to shrink its file size. This then makes it easier to send online especially when internal allowance for most email servers today are minimal. Smaller file sizes also typically send a lot faster than bulkier files.

The problem lies with a dependable program that can extract all these decompressed files when they're received. SDR solves this trick by introducing their own version of a RAR extractor.

This software is able to archive and extract 7 different zip file formats, and even capable of opening files that are password protected. Most competition would just stop at opening different zip formats but SDR's version goes above and beyond with this new function.

In response to the current review of the product on CNET, Steven answered: "We are also on the move to not just improve its functionality. We take every review given to us by the CNET community users, seriously so expect that we will release updates and patches soon to address the issue brought to us by user RowBare. That is our commitment – customer satisfaction."

SDR Develops Second Free Software Featured on CNET: An MP4 File Converter

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/10/2014 -- After the first release on CNET featuring an AVI file converter directly into MP4, Software Development Resource launches second free software that does the function vice versa. The MP4 to AVI converter runs smoothly with drag and drop features that even first time users will find it easy to use.

MP4 to AVI

After the first release featuring AVI converters, SDR levels the playing field with another free resource doing exactly the opposite now converting MP4 files into AVI file formats.

As a backgrounder, mp4 files are now more commonly marketed as the better mp3 when it comes to playing audio and video files. Most MP4 players though are just mp3 players that can play more file formats that the previous mp3 players cannot open.

MP4 players also have codecs that are like patches needed to a player to enable it to play a new set of file types it previously cannot play.

The term has become a misnomer of sorts as there is not yet a real file that can be called an mp4 file. It is still being currently developed by the International Organization for Standardization, most commonly known as ISO.

So for everyone's information, mp4 players are just players with more advanced capabilities. It can play almost any new file type that comes out of the market, which an mp3 player can only dream of. The problem lies in codecs. Most mp4 players in the market today need codecs in order to play new file types.

On the other hand, Windows backed AVI files is still widely supported due to the name recall of its manufacturer which is Microsoft. Its ubiquity in the market place makes it a wonderful contender to MP4s supremacy online plus no more need for codecs when played with installed players.

SDR's free MP4 to AVI file converter becomes the bridge to make this happen.

Software Development Resource Releases Final CNET Lineup Update with Free Keylogger Software

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/10/2014 -- For its final release update on CNET, Software Development Resource announces their free Keylogger software ready for downloads beginning November. SDR will continue to keep tabs of continuing development after this release so they can improve current lineup or possibly introduce more software options before the year ends.

All About Keylogging

Keyboard stroke logging or more commonly referred to as keylogging is a software tool that helps capture every keyboard stroke done by a computer user. It saves or logs [thus logging] any keyboard stroke, processes made, programs opened, words typed, nor actions done while using the PC.

Keyloggers can be used not just by an average user but also network security personnel or technicians. Keyloggers are helpful addition to any monitoring techniques especially for office or home use.

In industrial setting, keyloggers can monitor how employees make use of their units whether it be for work only purposes or beyond. On the other hand, most parents find this software a reliable ally when it comes to monitoring online whereabouts of their children to keep them safe from predators, online scams, pornography and many other types of fraudsters that swarm the web today.

Keyloggers had also been previously useful in police operations such as the case with FBI prosecuting two Russian mob suspects in 2000.

It does this by staying incognito while running. The program can work on the background while carefully saving all transactions including full time, date and every key pressed on its log. This feature makes it invisible to the eye that only the installer could know of its existence. This is the default setting but SDR's free software can be made visible by clicking SHIFT + CTRL + ALT + D.

It can be set up to load on startup on either background mode or visible mode. SDR endorses all these free stuff to let the community know what their team is capable of. They also do customized software job orders for interested parties.

SDR Strengthens Partnership with CNET with New Free Downloads of Their AVI File Converter

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/10/2014 -- Software Development Resource recently strengthened its partnership with CNET, one of leading web-based download sites and tech-related review center. SDR has released four new free software versions on the platform beginning with their free AVI to MP4 converter. The product was released on their website last October 8 and went live on CNET just this October 27. It can handle any AVI files for easy conversion into the more supported MP4 format.

Audio Video Interleave Explained

Also known by its initials AVI, this file type was first introduced by Microsoft in 1992. It supports, as evident in its name, both audio and video file formats combined. This is commonly seen as a video file but these are seldom used nowadays.

It was a direct derivative of RIFF or the Resource Interchange File Format which was introduced a year earlier. It had numerous compatibility issues so it was made into other file types such as AVI for easier usage. Other file types associated with this failed format include WAV, ANI, DLS, and XmA now used by Xbox videos.

Despite its being introduced and supported by Microsoft, the AVI has its many limitations. For example, it cannot contain mp3 files, it does not support modern video compression techniques [which the MP4 format can perform], and most AVI file types do not support automatic aspect ration information and editing while on play but can be done so manually.

For users of AVI files who do not recognize its function and has been worrying much about these limitations, considering another file format for their video requirements is a must.

MP4 file format is now the current standard format for most videos used online and currently supported by the ISO. With its popularity, this file is easily used and can be the best alternative for the archaic AVI files.

SDR's own free AVI to MP4 converter can do the deed with less hassle. Drag and drop features are intact and conversion happens in minutes making it less hassling depending on how large the file is.

Software Tech Startup Announces Installment to Free Software Give-Away - Mkv to Avi Converter

Alameda, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/14/2014 -- Software tech-startup Freedom Software Company releases their second free give-away this week with their mkv to avi converter. This is an easy to use converter with drag and drop capabilities. Their newly-built team is still looking for new members for expansion in Europe next year, 2015.

Contrasting Matroska with AVI files

Matroska files may be power-packed with all its container format features but it's not the most popular file extension in that niche yet, Microsoft's very own AVI files is more known even to average computer users.

AVI files, though can only contain only audio and video files in its container format [great for DVDs], it is backed by a more popular mainstream provider/developer in the name of Microsoft.

This is part of the reason why it's popular. Microsoft is everywhere and they dominate the market so it only makes sense that their products follow the trend. As a backgrounder, AVI files are actually derived from RIFF files or Resource Interchange File Format that divides data into chunks.

It's usually supported by codecs in order for it to be opened in normal Windows media players. Codecs are free so no bother. There are some native players such as RealPlayer, or VLC that can play it without using codecs but understandably, it's still more popular than MKV files.

On the contrary, MKV files can pack more than just the audio-video combination of AVI. It can also contain subtitles, be streamed online and even play when damaged on playback – just a few things that an AVI file won't be able to do.

It is not the media file of choice for online streaming as it's currently dominated by either flash or mp4 and most AVI files experience halting when damaged while on playback.

Regardless, it's the support that matters when it comes to using both files. As more and more media player understand and are familiar with Microsoft's older container file format, it receives more support which means more compatibility.

For those who are stuck with mkv files and wish that they don't download another media player or codec just play one, they can resolve with a FSC's free mkv to avi converter.

This free release is created and developed by one of their team members, Matt Long.

Freedom Software Company Scores Partnership with Cnet for Their Free XPS Converter

Alameda, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/14/2014 -- Freedom Software Company or simply FSC, scores partnership with leading download and tech online hub CNet as their official carrier for their free XPS to PDF converter. CNet editors have also scored the software 3.5 stars with a very good rating and 3 star votes from users who have downloaded and tried it. It's currently on version 2.1 with official 140,532 downloads as of this writing. It's currently available on all Windows OS from XP to 8.

Strategic Partnership

CNet is one of the internet's authority when it comes to mobile and online apps, software and digital products. They also produce how-to media for anything that is tech-related, reviews on latest software plus a hub for safe and secure downloads of leading software from indie to popular ones.

Our XPS to PDF converter has been in the market for months and it has already received quite a humbling attention.

"We are very happy to be chosen by esteemed editors of CNET as one of this industry's most trusted and freely obtainable XPS converters to date. We are on our way to developing more free products for the benefit of our clientele," says Andrea Leigh, company spokesperson.

XPS files are normally used by Microsoft users who prefer it over the much popular Adobe PDF reader formats. Introduced in Vista, never gained traction but somehow still had some users and Microsoft has created more attention to its support in newer versions of their OS updates than PDF.

This is one of those instances where a Microsoft-backed software is not king and as it is, was due to the fact that it was another tech-giant in the name of Adobe who's in direct competition.

PDF file format is one of the most prominent and most supported file formats in the world today and it's open for all regardless of operating system used. It is also free to obtain, unlike its direct competitors which throws away the question of ever replacing it. It's packed with many other plus factors and features such as easy conversions into Office files and editing so to make things easier on the end of a Windows user with XPS capability, FSC has introduced their own version of an XPS converter without them breaking the bank.

FSC Excels with Another Free Offering in Updated MKV File Converter

Alameda, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/14/2014 -- Freedom Software Company experiments with another free product release from their talented team of expert developers in their third free give away of the month. It features the mkv to mp4 converter to help video enthusiasts reach a better audience with a more mainstream choice of file format in today's internet exchanges. The new release is developed by Scott Straub.

From Indie to Mainstream

MP4 is currently the world wide web's standard when it comes to free to play and premium online video and audio streamed content.

It has been declared de-facto media file by the International Organization for Standardization [ISO].

However, other competing file formats such as Flash or FLV also have some dominant market share in big names such as YouTube and Hulu.

MKV on the other hand is developed by a team of independent developers with funding from a French non-profit and solicits help from ongoing users, and developers who wish to unite the world's container file format wars with an open framework alternative which is Matroska's MKV. Its users can alter the player or format according to how they see fit for their endeavors however, it's still not as widely popular as competing WAV, AIFF, and AVI files from two of the world's competing tech-giants.

But truth be told, there is another file that is considered the best alternative today when it comes to online video and audio streaming and that is the MPEF standard with backing from ISO itself.

More and more people appreciate the influx of MPEG's audio and combined file formats that support came rushing in just years after its initial release in 2001. It had a long-time riff with Microsoft's M4A files due to MP4's technology being backed by Apple's Quicktime format, their natural competitor.

Although this is the case that MKV wants to eradicate, MP4 became successful after it proved to be the better technology and the siding of ISO in the riff between giant Microsoft. M4A files are actually just audio components of MP4 files.

Since MP4 is backed by a standardization, it's generally more supported than most other competing file types available in the market today.

For MKV users who feel the need to not use a separate media player or any codecs in order to play MKV files which doesn't normally play in most native media players, they can use Free Software Company's own free mkv to mp4 converter to ensure a smooth transition from one mkv file to another.

California Software Startup Releases First Software Give-Away with Free MKV Player

Alameda, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2014 -- FSC or Freedom Software Company, a startup California-based group of software developers creating unique software solutions starts giving away free software products for their prospective clients' perusal. First in their list is a free MKV player for the MKV or much commonly referred to as Matroska file, a free for all container format file in direct competition with other more mainstream formats including Windows WAV and Apple's AIFF.

Matroska's Capability

Representing FSC, is Paul Rudding who developed the startup's first free software product giveaway, their MKV player.

Matroska files are container file formats with a common file extension of .mkv short for the files it can handle inside its container – video, audio, and subtitles respectively. It was first announced in 2002, and a non-profit organization in France is behind the financial support it receives. However, it has remained a software that is open to everyone.

The free and open-standard file is MKV founder's vision being realized with an aim to create a more flexible cross-platform Audio/video container format as opposed to Windows or Mac only formats for a more open media framework. Its objective is to also become the main open source alternative to other such existing container file formats in the digital market today.

Aside from the files mentioned above, it can also handle chapter entries, menus [like those on DVD], and full metadata.

It features fast file seeking, expandable module, error resilience especially powerful even when stream is damaged on playback, and generally streamable over the internet and local networks [FTP, HTTP, CIFS, etc.]

It has already undergone 3 revisions with the July 14, 2013 revision still currently in use. It is being generously sponsored by numerous hardware and software companies that are building or using Matroska products on a customized level. This is not mandatory but helps in marketing and provision of rights to use trademarks and logo of the brand.

MKV files, despite its goals is still undermined by the more popularly used files WAV and AIFF respectively so for those who'd encounter a file with a .mkv extension, FSC's own mkv player can lessen the hassle by avoiding any more conversion with an easy to use instant media player.

SDR Releases New WAV to MP3 Converter Still Free for All

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/06/2014 -- Software Development Resource releases a free alternative to WAV converters with their very own version of a fully built WAV to MP3 converter software. With their standing tradition of simplicity and functionality, the program comes with their trademark easy to use drag and drop capability with a user interface that even beginners would be able to handle with relative ease. It only currently supports WAV files for conversion into the more supported MP3 format.

What's with WAV?

WAV file format is an interbred format released by Microsoft and IBM's cooperation in 1991 which resulted in its inception. It is pronounced as WAVE and stands for Waveform Audio Format.

It is currently the main format for raw, uncompressed audio files in the Windows environment and built not just for Windows PCs. IBM also made it compatible with the Apple and Linux environments due to its bitstream format close to the AIFF and 8SVX technology [used by QuickTime] so it can also be used under the Amiga and Macintosh computers.

On the other hand, MP3 is the current de facto standard in most audio digital playback players for either online or online platforms. Mp3 is largely an audio-file strict format unlike its .mp4 successor. Given its popularity, widespread support for this format is also omnipresent.

With this compatibility, SDR has thought of a customized solution to give way for users unfamiliar to the WAV file format and let them play it with ease with their chosen native media players regardless of OS environment by introducing their free WAV to MP3 converter.

Most converters in the market comes with a fee but packed with limited capability unlike SDR's version.

Oregon Tech Start-Up Harks Release of 39th Free Online Resource with DVD to MP4 Converter

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/06/2014 -- Software Development Resource or simply SDR has finally released their 39th landmark free software resource now open for public consumption in their website. The DVD to MP4 converters solves the inconvenience of bulky DVDs that aren't compatible with handheld and smaller viewing devices such as laptops and smartphones. This move will soon be followed by another milestone with their 40th release set soon.

Weighing MP4 and DVD File Formats

In the world of MPEGs or the audio files, ascending numbers mean more power and sophistication and in all of its history, mp4 can lay claim that it's the better platform than its older brother.

While many consider this as a thing, MP4 is just actually a geek way of saying that a player has more capabilities than normal mp3 players. It can usually play video and other formats not commonly known to be playable using mp3 devices such as .amv.

On the other hand, the landscape of home viewing has drastically changed from the first year DVDs were introduced in 1995 and the current year. Just barely 10 years after it was introduced, most households now enjoy watching things digitally or through online streaming – think Netflix era as compared to the traditional cable options which many Americans now consider very costly.

DVD, though has greater advantage when it comes to storage, it tends to be bulky with consumed space of the circular CD – making it inconvenient for laptop and other capable device users that don't have DVD players.

Mobility is the number one question when it comes to the motive behind this conversion and SDR has found the ultimate way to bridge this gap.

They recently released their free DVD to MP4 converter which marks the 39th free resource they have ever produced in the recent months.

Many avid movie fans now enjoy digital content without the need for a CD. MP4 is the evolution of the most supported audio file format today which is MP3, considering that MP4 is capable of large storage and compatibility with a lot of formats, the choice is a fine innovation.

SDR Updates YouTube Converter Series Now with MP3 Function

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- After the much sought after YouTube converter series comes another YouTube to MP3 converter from esteemed tech-startup SDR or Software Development Resource. The new program has an extended capability of transforming any type of YouTube online video into an mp3 file format so it can play in most players supported today.

YouTube vs MP3

YouTube is the third most popular website in the world according to Alexa and being third, only next to Google and Facebook respectively; YouTube, apparently, is the second most popular search engine.

It was created by three former PayPal employees namely Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim who then thought back in 2004 that despite internet presence, finding a video for certain famous incidents back then was very difficult.

YouTube became the answer for such trouble. It has since been the only video-based website that consistently tops the list of highest ranking website and owned by Google from 2006 to present.

It is currently offered worldwide, except in blocked countries [mostly Muslim countries and notably China], can be accessed in 61 different languages through user interface and has been known to host April Fools prank every year since 2008.

MP4 format on the other hand is just a file extension that can be played in most high-end audio or video players nowadays.

SDR's free YouTube to mp3 converter works in a simple way: Once users have downloaded the program, they must first be online to instantly paste video urls of the YouTube videos in this application and all the rest will be taken care of automatically. As vast amount of different type of videos are available online, anyone can just simply build a list of their own video playlist using the application so they can enjoy it while on the go, or even without internet connection.

New DVD to AVI Converter Released by Oregon-Based Tech Company

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- DVD is still default technology when it comes to cd technology, as it's preferred by many direct to video media options for home technology use due to its greater flexibility, durability and storage. AVI on the other hand is Microsoft's own container format, that leads its own segment of the market. The new and free DVD to AVI converter technology released by Software Development Resource can help out those wanting to cross the bridge over this two format giants.

DVD Viewing Without the CD, Made Easy

The clear advantage of DVD is bigger storage while maintaining the native dimensions the CD has been known for [the round disc].

The first DVD had a 1 GB capacity and current ones in use today can store as much 15 GB amount of video data. Obviously the unification of just one format became a big convenience for audio and home entertainment purposes, especially in the USA where the Hollywood directly drives the economy of sale for these types of commodity.

The landmark unification was also unprecedented as consumer tech giants including Toshiba, Sony, and Philips agreed to a single format [not on the separate two that these camps have previously fought about]. The timely intervention of IBM, Apple, Microsoft and other software-hardware giants made it possible for the reconciliation and birth of a more capable, single-sided disc now called the Universal Disk Format.

Many avid movie fans now enjoy digital content without the need for a CD. AVI file format is the current bearer of Microsoft's digital container formats and given their ubiquity in the market share, it's hard to resist a program that can handle both prominent file types. SDR's free dvd to to AVI converter can perform this without hassle.

SDR Extends Array of Converter Software, Adopts MOV File Conversion Tool

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- Software Development Resource or simply SDR finally extends their free software resource by accommodating the known MOV file format from popular software developer and hardware manufacturer Apple. The new converter is still free and will remain free forever.

MOV File Discussion; QuickTime, ISO and Microsoft Riff

For Apple users, QuickTime is the native player which makes it one of the most popular media players today. Its native file format is the Quick Time File format or .mov and .qt.

But not all native media players, notably Microsoft's native WMP [Windows Media Player] can play these files. Arguably, ISO [International Organization for Standardization] has given Apple's QuickTIme file format the nod over the MP4 integration.

It can be remembered though that whereas Microsoft's own audio file format initiative directly competed with ISO-backed MP3 and MP4 as universal formats, Apple instead gave the MP4 a boost by alternately combining the .m4a format in its own audio environment making it as popular or if not more popular than that of Microsoft's own wma format.

Given this achievement, ISO awarded the approval of getting the QTFF [QuickTime File Format] the basis for all MP4 file formats presently. QTFF is just synonymous to .mov files.

On the other hand Microsoft introduced the AVI in 1992, just a year after both QuickTime and the first version of WMP went out in the market of 1991. AVI is a rather popular container file format that has equaled QTFF where WMA failed due to its riff with MP3.

With this divide, SDR thought of a nice way to reconcile this difference by providing a free MOV to AVI converter to help out Microsoft users who are avid AVI users to play MOV files from Apple music player environment.

AVI is also a more common format than the less frequently mentioned MOV file format despite QTFF popularity.
With continuing efforts to release free software and satisfy demands of customers with custom software projects, Software Development Resource's team still make time to render top-notch customer service.

They have 24/7 support for software products [technical to general queries], and constant release of patches for products released for free and made to order. They are also streamlining their social media sites as another venue for community outreach and support with a wider, more open reach.

SDR Solves WMV Player Problems for Non-Windows Users with Free Software Release

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- Good news for Apple and other OS users, SDR has recently released a free WMV player that can instantly play any Windows related type files that are only compatible to Windows OS users and those with Windows Media Player as local media player. This is the company's way of bridging users from across the globe with unique and unifying software programs.

Delving into WMV

This video compression technology was introduced by Microsoft in the early millennium decade, specifically 2003.

Since its inception, it has been the main video format of the WMV family and the most recognized competitor to the likes of equally famous MPEG4 and RealVideo formats. Unlike one of its component, the strictly audio-only format WMA, WMV is more versatile and is actually a container file type like the AVI and MKV that can process a lot of other file types in one. It stands for Windows Media Video.

On the other hand, since most of America are users of other types of OS, not all of them are able to handle and play a WMV file in their native players such as QuickTime and Real Player.

SDR's new free WMV player solves this obvious problem so these users can play WMV files without anymore need for hefty conversions from this format into another format that will be recognized by their native media players.

WMV has also achieved international standardization by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers so it's now been adopted for HD DVD and Blu-ray disc technology physical-delivery formats.

SDR, Oregon-Based Budding Software Developer Company Launches Its Own DVD Ripper Tool

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- Software Development Resource or SDR for short introduces their own ripper program for the widely used DVD format. DVD has been seen as the refinement of the more limited CD and has since been used.

More on DVD

Unlike the archaic CD, DVD's development is not a single-effort. Major manufacturers and players contributed a lot to the technology many home viewers enjoy today including Philips, Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic.

On the other hand, the landscape of home viewing has drastically changed from the first year DVDs were introduced in 1995 and the current year. Just barely 10 years after it was introduced, most households now enjoy watching things digitally or through online streaming – think Netflix era as compared to the traditional cable options which many American now consider very costly.

Many avid movie viewers now also want to watch without the use of discs anymore since it would be more portable then. With this, came the advent of DVD Rippers. These software programs are able to extract any content from a DVD into a hard disk drive.

SDR's own dvd ripper is capable of encoding any copied DVD content into different native file formats including – but not limited to – Zen, DV, Rockbox, PS3, Quicktime, PSP, VCD among many others. It also has the playback capability even while conversion is happening to give users a high quality preview of desired output.

Local Tech Company Initiates FLV to MP4 Initiative for Easier Multi-Platform Viewing

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- Eugene, OR - SDR releases another software that can easily convert any FLV file into the more advanced MP4 format all for $0. FLV formats are less common [despite the Adobe brand backing] and as such more difficult to open as compared to the more popular MP4 format with no major company backing but majorly supported due to connection with ISO. The free FLV to MP4 converter is now available in their Downloads section gallery.

From FLV to MP4

FLV files is notably the current standard for video streaming websites across the web. Notable websites such as YouTube and Hulu all have support for this format.

MP4 is also gaining traction though and is now more commonly marketed as the better mp3 when it comes to player. Most MP4 players though are just mp3 players that can play more file formats that the previous mp3 players cannot open.

Apple has long supported the MPEG4 format even to the point of popularizing just one of its components, the .m4a format for its native player called iTunes. With this default, Apple has never fully supported Adobe's FLV although there are still codecs for it to play properly in the said media player. MP4 is also greatly supported by other major players such as Microsoft despite their love for their own WMA format which is less common than both FLV and MP4.

FLV file quality is also more inferior to a degree against the MP4 format. The extended FLV format called SWF is also one notorious file that's difficult to open.

FLV formats are not just difficult to open but also difficult to convert into a more common format such as the MP4. SDR's FLV to MP4 converter eases this dilemma. FLV files are also known for their multiple quality output capability and SDR's free converter promises to retain this capability by letting users choose which quality type will suit best for their liking every time a new conversion happens.
In the past few months, they have continuously released series of audio file converters from WAV to MPEG4, DVD, MP3, WMV and WMA file formats week after week.

"Our team felt that this has been a fruitful journey as this helps us prove our wide range of capabilities when it comes to delivering highly on demand converting programs with daily use. But our team didn't stop at that, rather exceeded expectations when they decided to come up with this idea of instantly covering all these files in one and even added two more unreleased file type converters," adds Coluido.

These files include the OGG and AC3 file formats respectively.

"We thought that this audio converter is almost complete until we realized that not all audio files we've once encountered have been covered," says one of their developers from half across the globe in Asia.

For familiarity's sake as both these files are not usually encountered but may prove useful for programmers to know, OGG files are container formats [remember Windows AVI and the always open Matroska]. Designed by the Xiph.org foundation, this format can handle high quality digital multimedia such as streams for audio, video, text and even metadata.

Its developers much like Matroska has intended it to be free of any copyright restrictions, so this format has been popular among proprietary media player developers both commercial or not.

On the other hand, AC3 files are produced by Dolby Labs, the same company that produced the Digital Surround system used by most home theater systems and theater complexes today to achieve a better sound effect provision in most films and features today.

AC3 is just the default surround sound file extension type in DVD formats. It was created to provide the same cinematic sound experience in blu-rays, DVDs, and other digital video formats [such as gaming consoles and hand-held devices]. AC3 stands for Audio coding 3 while OGG was derived from ogging taken from an in-game vocabulary for the computer game Netrek. It actually means the act of killing a carrier, or potential carrier by suicide run [something far off but was just used for its uniqueness].

The free audio converter app is very lightweight and easy to navigate even by beginners new to the file format with easy drag and drop function.

Software Development Resource, SDR, Now Has a Free SWF Player

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- SDR releases a powerful reader program for a rare file type called SWF. The free swf player handles swf files which are created by Adobe. It is closely related to the Adobe FLV format but normal FLV players won't be able to play it.

What's the SWF File

Adobe once released the first default media player file format FLV files for internet usage and consumption but it has now been largely replaced by mp3 due to simplicity. FLV also produced a lot of bugs and errors [which usually affects quick and normal web browsing] when in use which adds to the resource being replaced in popularity.

But during those times, they also released another useful file format called SWF which stands for shockwave flash. There is also another technology called Shockwave from the same company, different from SWF but its direct predecessor as Adobe took inspiration in this file for derivation to SWF.

To avoid any future instances of confusion, they've decided to name it with the backronym Small Web Format instead of just using the simpler shockwave format [was also called Macromedia shockwave used for animation and was the predecessor of SWF].

But unlike its predecessor the Shockwave file format, SWF files can be played directly into any operating systems. Macromedia's shockwave needs a separate installation in order to be opened.

SWF files, though easily readable are not an extremely popular options for normal video or audio viewing in local mode. SWF files are usually seen used and played online or with the use of the browser since it's the default format for animation vector display graphics on the web today.

It's use is usually geared toward gaming programs and its simplicity. Although there are other programs that may produce this simply for video viewing, it's still difficult to open without any browser.

And to avoid this scenario again, SDR realized the need for a direct SWF player that has that very function. It's very useful for users who frequently does vector animation without the use of Adobe's premium suite services.

Software Development Resource [SDR] Packs a Better MPEG Series Converter

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- SDR updates their MPEG file format converter series with a vice-versa tool. They released their MP4 to MP3 converter to help users still accustomed to using the simpler MP3 format that is still widely in use today.

What's the SWF File

In the world of MPEGs or the audio files, ascending numbers mean more power and sophistication and in all of its history, mp4 can lay claim that it's the better platform than its older brother.

While many consider this as a thing, MP4 is just actually a geek way of saying that a player has more capabilities than normal mp3 players. It can usually play video and other formats not commonly known to be playable using mp3 devices such as .amv.

MP4 players also have codecs that are like patches done to a player to enable it to play a new set of file types it previously cannot play.

Most mp4 players in the market today need this thing in order to play new filetypes. MP3 players on the other hand doesn't need this condition in order to play their music file types and greater support which adds to the convenience factor it fields.

Software Development Resource has a free MP4 to MP3 converter to aid in this process. It is best used by users who like to listen to audio files such as speeches, training material or presentations without a TV or PC [as there are hand-held mp3 players].

Software Development Resource Updates Software List with a New MKV to MP4 Converter

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2014 -- SDR releases another software that can easily convert any MKV file into the more advanced MP4 format all for $0. The company has been proud to always release free resources crafted by their dedicated team of developers and engineers. SDR also accepts customized orders as long as specifications are given for any project. Steven Coluido has always been proud of the way their company heads into competition. His remarks proves it as he says "There is no other software company in Oregon [or perhaps elsewhere] that has done what we have achieved in just a course of months – release numerous free to use and diverse software options. We are set to produce more for weeks and months to come."

More on MKV

Previously, SDR has already produced MP4 related players and converters, this time around the focus is in the lesser known MKV file.

MKV stands for Matroska Multimedia Container which aims to have a more open and free internet with their introduction of this visionary container format that boasts of a capability to store all types of file format regardless of platform [audio, video, image, subtitles].

Matroska is derived from the Russian wooden doll of the same name Matryoshka or the doll with many other dolls from within. Matroska developers saw this as a completely related metaphor to describe how the MKV file is capable of storing more than just one extension filetype. Existing container competition has drowned the MKV format over the years especially the more popular AVI and MP4 formats.

Matroska on the other hand remains its stance that MKV is still the best, most potentially capable container file format present in the online world today.

Despite this claim, MKV still lags behind competition. More people are still acquainted with AVI and MP4 so it's really difficult to shift paradigms. Luckily Software Development Resource has opened a portal to help users easily convert any MKV file they'd see floating around online into the more supported and familiar MP4 format. The converter is a simple MKV to MP4 converter with drag and drop features with a promise of not losing any quality in playback along conversion process.

Local Software Developer Launches New Audio Converting Tool for M4A and MP3 Files

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/02/2014 -- SDR [Software Development Resource] releases new converter software with their free M4A to MP3 converter. This continues their tradition of releasing dozens of batches of free software to help customers and interested individuals have a taste of their team's wide array of capabilities when it comes to software development.

Delving into M4A

For those who have read previous releases, SDR has already launched their own MP4 player and converters and to further update this series, they now release an addition to the family.

M4A is often associated to the MP4 format as it's the audio only MPEG4 files. iTunes is one of the popular players that uses this file extension.

There had been confusion for most Windows users on which format is which but most of them just rely on the search function. As stated above, M4A are just component files under the entire MP4 container file format family which makes it an accessory. The inclusion of iTunes into the picture prompted Apple to do something about the confusion.

They made .m4a one of their standard extensions and given their popularity in the USA, it didn't take long for the format to be popularized. Due to this initiative, many users now understand and easily recognize the real difference or rather similarities between the .m4a and .mp4 format as there isn't any difference really.

On the other hand, MP3 is the current de facto standard in most audio digital playback players for either online or online platforms. Mp3 is largely an audio-file strict format unlike its .mp4 successor. Given its popularity, widespread support for this format is also omnipresent.

Most .m4a files are often associated with the Apple OS users and since there are many other Windows user, there might be discrepancies while opening it across OS platforms. SDR's free M4A to MP3 converter does the trick.

Software Development Resource Excited to Announce a Free RAR File Opener Tool

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/02/2014 -- SDR launches their own RAR file opener to the public effective this week. The company aims to challenge industry leaders that often always present problems whenever any file extraction is done. "This file opener is an easy to use tool that can compete with today's most rar opening and zip creating platforms and one of the only difference is price, ours is pro-bono," stays Steven Coluido, president of Software Development Resource

Unique RAR Files

RAR is a type of proprietary archival data format [in contrast with container types which houses a lot of different file types], these types of files are often just compressed files.

Most users consider this format as an easy way to share large files across the internet or networks. Most email providers often have limited attachment file capacity and when this happens, decompression can solve the problem.

There are also files that sometimes people come across with online that needs to be decompressed in order for it to be seen or used. Not everyone can be acquainted with this format though.

RAR files are somewhat different from zip files as well but not that much. Zip files is the predecessor of RAR and is still more popularly in use today. But unlike the more potent RAR, Zip lacks recovery records, strong encryption, and Unicode names. In common parlance, those who use RAR file openers can open zipped folders easily and for many Windows users, the mere act of compressing files after right clicking can already do the trick for zipping folders into smaller versions of its size for easy file sharing. Zip has then become synonymous to lessening file size because of Windows' ubiquity.

RAR was developed by Russian software engineer Eugene Roshal in the early 90's. The abbreviation also comes from his namesake which spells Roshal Archive. SDR's own free RAR file opener does all these tricks easily, especially if there are problems in OS [since Mac users apparently don't have the same capability as Windows' default Zip feature].

Local Software Developer Adds Another Free Converter Resource in Their Lineup

Eugene, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/02/2014 -- SDR [Software Development Resource] releases new converter software with their free WMA to MP3 converter. The company is set to release more free converters in the future which are already in the works as of this writing.

Delving into WMA

WMA is an audio file type developed by Microsoft to complement its media player files. On the other hand, MP3 is the current de facto standard in most audio digital playback players for either online or online platforms.

WMA can also refer to the codecs, aside from the common audio file format it is associated with. Ever since it was developed, it has always been seen as a competitor to the MP3 format.

MP3 is more popular though given its universality and easy file opening capability across platforms. Most MP3 players don't have the capability to play WMA files except if otherwise it's the native Windows Media Player that's in use. WMA is mostly just compatible in the Windows environment so it's not widely supported outside that zone.

MP3 being de facto standard has more support despite all Microsoft's attempt to discredit the apparent inferior sound quality of MP3 files as compared to their own WMA at the same bit rates.

To conquer this problem, SDR came with a solution to reconcile the difference by providing a free WMA to MP3 converter. It has drag and drop features with one click convert button for instant transactions [conversion time depends on quantity and file size].
