Skyler Rutkowski Awarded Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award

Skyler Rutkowski is the latest winner of the Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award.

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/02/2019 -- The award is made biannually to exceptional young Americans who wish to study overseas.

Skyler is the eighth recipient of the award, which was launched in 2016 by Bright!Tax, the world-leading expat tax services firm.

Skyler is currently working towards a PHD in International Relations at the United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya. Previously she studied at the State University of New York, Fredonia, where she graduated Cum Laude and made the Dean's List or President's List every semester. She is the first member of her family to go university, and after graduating from SUNY she worked at M&T to raise money to continue her studies while also volunteering and mentoring high school students applying for college.

Skyler said: "Being an expat is truly a journey of discovery and self-reflection. What I love most about it is having the ability to immerse myself in cultures that differ so much from any that I've known in the US. It grants me perspectives I could never imagine having if I had only ever stayed in one place. Once I finish grad school in Kenya, I plan to take the FSOT in hopes of becoming a US Diplomat."

She continued: "Being a citizen of the United States has many benefits while traveling abroad. Throughout my travels, I have most often been respected, and people have almost always been friendly towards me. People I've met abroad are often very patient with me in our cultural differences and understanding of my learning curve as I acclimate to a new culture. One of my favorite parts of being an American abroad is the cultural exchanges I have while meeting new people. Many people are often as interested in learning about the US as I am about learning about their country."

Bright!Tax CEO Greg Dewald created the Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award to help young Americans experience living abroad.

Dewald said: "Bright!Tax works with American expat clients in almost every country in the world, and we hear about their incredible experiences and we salute their courage every day. Living abroad truly broadens one's horizons, and we established the Global Scholar Award to allow a new generation of young Americans to have the same experience of living overseas. Skyler is an exemplary young American, working hard to realize her dream of being a US diplomat. She has a bright future ahead of her, and with our support I'm sure she'll achieve great things."

Archeologist Brandon Fathy Awarded Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/03/2018 -- Bright!Tax is an award-winning, leading provider of tax services for the estimated nine million Americans living overseas.

Bright!Tax founder and CEO Greg Dewald had the opportunity to study abroad many years ago himself, and, inspired by his experience, in 2016 he established the Bright!Tax' Global Scholar program to provide supplementary tuition fees support for exceptional young Americans who wish to study abroad.

The Bright!Tax Global Scholarship is awarded biannually, and the Bright!Tax Awards Committee is proud to announce that Brandon Fathy has been named the sixth Bright!Tax Global Scholar.

With Bright!Tax' support, Brandon will be taking up a place at the University of Leicester in the UK to pursue a PHD in Archaeology in January.

Brandon is returning to Leicester, having done his his undergraduate degree there. While he was there, the skeleton of England's King Richard III, who died in the Battle of Bosworth in 1485, was discovered under a local car park. The discovery was a significant archaeological find, and Brandon was a member of the team that worked on the excavation. The find shed light on both the king and the period in which he lived. For example, Shakespeare portrayed King Richard as a hunchback, and while many believed that the characterization was propaganda to appease the royal family at the time, the archaeological evidence revealed that it was, in fact, true.

In high school, Brandon was valedictorian and achieved a perfect GPA. He was captain of the school's academic decathlon team, which advanced to state competitions and in which Brandon was third highest scorer in Texas. As student council president meanwhile, Brandon introduced a school-wide recycling program.

Brandon said: "As a US citizen who wants to make a big positive impact, I'm enormously grateful to receive a Bright!Tax Global Scholarship Award. Studying at a foreign university is a financial challenge, and I've worked two jobs as a high school teacher and tutor to save for my degree. The contribution this scholarship makes to my academic progression is greatly appreciated."

Bright!Tax believes that Americans who venture abroad are the new pioneers, exploring opportunities far from home. Furthermore, they are America's informal ambassadors around the world, shaping people's perceptions of the US. Bright!Tax is proud to serve Americans in over 190 countries worldwide.

Greg Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, said: "We established the Global Scholar Award to help a new generation of young Americans have the same experience to study overseas that I had. Brandon is an exceptional young American embarking on an exciting adventure, and I'm sure he'll achieve every success."

Bright!Tax Named Finalist for 2018 Expat Tax Provider of the Year Award

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/28/2018 -- Leading US expat tax services provider Bright!Tax has been nominated as a finalist for the prestigious 2018 FEM EMMA Tax Provider of the Year Award for the EMEA region.

The EMMA Awards were established in 2010 by the Forum for Expat Management to honor excellence and innovation in the fields of Global Mobility and Expat Service Provision. The awards cover three regions, the Americas, the Asia Pacific region (APAC), and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Bright!Tax previously won both the Americas and APAC awards in 2017, and this year has been nominated for Tax Provider of the Year in every region.

The Awards ceremony takes place on Friday November 9th at the O2 Intercontinental in London, England.

All American citizens and green card holders are required to file US taxes, reporting their worldwide income, including expats. Expats are subject to complex additional reporting requirements too. Bright!Tax' mission is to make the process as simple, smooth, and quick as possible, employing technology while also maintaining the reassurance and support of a one to one client-CPA relationship.

To facilitate the process despite clients being located in over 190 countries around the world, Bright!Tax has trail-blazed a number of ground breaking innovations.

Bright!Tax' industry-first innovations include an intuitive online Client Organizer that is personalized for each client to let them provide just the personal and tax details relevant to their situation, rather than being presented with a seemingly endless, generic form.

Bright!Tax was also the first expat tax provider to introduce a mobile app, allowing clients to perform many of the functions involved in filing taxes from abroad on their phone. In a world where expats are used to controlling almost every element of their lives from a mobile device, from travel to banking and investing, they can now enable and access their tax filing from their phone or tablet too.

More recently, Bright!Tax has innovated once again with another major new industry-first to improve the lives of their expat clients.

Due to FATCA (the 2010 Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act), many Americans based overseas have struggled in recent years to access banking services abroad due to the additional administrative burden that having American clients now places on foreign banks and investment firms. Rather than protest or sit on the sidelines, Bright!Tax has sought out a solution, and Bright!Tax clients can now access the same global banking services normally exclusively reserved for UN employees based overseas.

Greg Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, responded to the announcement, saying: "We're thrilled to have been shortlisted once again for the 2018 Tax Provider of the Year FEM EMMA award in recognition of our groundbreaking and innovative approach to providing tax compliance solutions for Americans who live and work overseas."

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Greg Dewald
Bright!Tax US Expat Tax Services
Telephone: 212-465-2528
Email: Click to Email Greg Dewald
Web: https://brighttax.com/index.html

Young Colorado Student Addison Noel Awarded Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award to Study in Japan

The Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award was launched two years ago to assist young Americans who wish to study overseas

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/15/2018 -- Since its launch, the program has been inundated with interest and has helped several exceptional young Americans to study abroad.

Now, Colorado resident Addison Noel has been named as the fifth Bright!Tax Scholar. With Bright!Tax' help, Addison will be taking up a place at Tokyo International University to study International Relations this fall.

The Bright!Tax Award Committee was particularly impressed by Addison's appreciation of the value of her US citizenship, as well as her excellent academic record, her having independently learned to speak Japanese, and having wrestled with, but ultimately overcome, anxiety.

Addison said: "My US citizenship is the culmination of over 200 years of democratic compromise for the conservation of personal freedoms. It has has allowed me to grow up in safety and has given me access to unlimited resources and possibilities. On the other hand, it has also insulated my worldly awareness. When studying abroad, I will have to be open-minded in order to empathize and live harmoniously with my international peers."

She continued: "I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to Bright!Tax for awarding me the Global Scholar Award. Having monetary support will allow me to focus wholeheartedly on my studies and embrace all the wonderful, new, exciting things that a life abroad holds. This award has not only given me more financial stability, but also has granted me the confidence to pursue my lofty ambitions. This award shows that hard work does pay off, refueling my self-confidence and determination. Thank you, Bright!Tax, for supporting this exciting chapter in my life and the lives of others abroad."

Bright!Tax is a leading online provider of tax services to the nine million American expats living overseas. In 2017 the firm won multiple awards itself, for excellence providing US tax services to expats, and for employing innovation to make the compulsory and complex process of filing US taxes from abroad easier.

Bright!Tax believes that expats are the new American pioneers, whose intrepid spirit is integral to what it means to be American. Furthermore, expats are America's informal ambassadors around the world, shaping other people's perceptions of our country and people. Addison Noel embodies this truly American positive, pioneering characteristic.

Greg Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, says:

"I had the opportunity to study abroad in my youth, and it changed my life, opening my eyes to the myriad different cultures and possibilities in the wider world. Following Bright!Tax' stellar growth and success, I established the Global Scholar Award to allow a new generation to have the same experience.
Adeel Mufti Wins Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/09/2018 -- Adeel Mufti has been awarded the latest Bright!Tax Global Scholar award. The Bright!Tax Awards Committee made the announcement last week, adding that Adeel had triumphed in a competitive field of over 300 applicants.

The Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award offers supplementary tuition fees support to exceptional young Americans who wish to study overseas.

Adeel has a keen appreciation of the advantages and opportunities that being American can offer:

"Being the first generation child of immigrants to the US, I am part of the American dream. America is a country built on immigrants, and I believe that diverse ideas and perspectives brought in by the world's best is what makes it great. The value of my US citizenship is that I get access to the best of everything: education, food, products, housing, medicine, and so much more. I am also able to travel to most of the world due to the good relations America has built with other nations. The meaning of my US citizenship is derived from the essence of being American - open minded, intellectual, hard working, and innovative."

Adeel has been living abroad for the past two years, working remotely as a computer programmer while accompanying his wife who is a Peace Corps volunteer, first in Mali, and latterly in South Africa. While in Mali, Adeel established a not-for-profit community website and online forum, to give something back.

"As an American, I feel privileged. And with privilege comes responsibility. Americans should be responsible citizens of the world when living abroad, and exude their best. It is also important for Americans to help those in need, especially in developing nations."

Adeel is now looking to the future though:

"Receiving the Bright!Tax Global Scholar award means that I can pursue a Master's in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh in the UK. This degree will open up exciting new opportunities in a budding field that has a lot of potential and a bright future. So I am forever grateful for the funding towards my studies provided by Bright!Tax. As an American expat living abroad, I believe that Bright!Tax understands the unique challenges we face away from home."

Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, financial need, and at the discretion of the Bright!Tax Awards Committee.

Gregory Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, says:

"The Global Scholar Initiative was inspired by an opportunity that I had to study abroad in my youth, which inspired me to begin my journey towards living abroad full time as an expat and subsequently founding Bright!Tax to help other expats file their US taxes."

He continues: "Adeel is an exceptional young man who has made the most of the opportunities that being American offers, while remaining conscious of the importance of giving back to the communities where we live. I hope his Masters degree will prove a significant step on his path to achieving great things, and we are proud to play a part in his journey."

The 2017 FEM EMMA awards season wrapped up with the EMEA EMMAs at London’s O2 Intercontinental Hotel last week.

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/14/2017 -- The London event followed the APAC EMMAs at the Hong Kong Harbour Grand Hotel in September, and the the Americas EMMAs at the Denver Marriot in May.

Bright!Tax US expat tax services has been a stand out winner across all 3 events this year, recording an unprecedented 4 accolades.

Finally, in London Bright!Tax was named runner up Tax Provider of the Year, narrowly missing a global clean sweep in this category.

Bright!Tax has achieved dominance over other expat tax service providers this year by combining an innovative work model designed for ease of client experience with a number of ground-breaking technological innovations that also help making filing taxes from overseas easier.

These innovations include a proprietary secure online client organizer that lets clients easily enter their information and carry forward details from year to year, and a mobile app that allows clients to interact with their CPA and securely scan and upload their tax documents from their phone or tablet.

Bright!Tax's success is based on a firm-wide focus on exceeding clients' expectations. One Bright!Tax client recently summed up their experience as: "Excellent - pure professionalism!", while another commented: "Really user friendly. I recommend Bright!Tax to all expats in Canada".

Bright!Tax has quickly risen from being a small fish to being an industry leader with a global footprint, now with clients in over 190 countries, nearly every country on earth.

Greg Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, said: "It's been a year of stunning innovation and growth for us, and I'm thrilled with the recognition we've received from our peers at FEM with the awards that we've won.
Bright!Tax Pursuing the Unprecedented - a Perfect Trifecta of Global EMMA Awards

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/26/2017 -- Off the back of being named Expat Tax Provider of the Year for the Asia Pacific Region in Hong Kong a fortnight ago ahead of 'Big 4' accounting firm EY, Bright!Tax has now also been shortlisted for the 2017 FEM Tax Provider of the Year EMMA award for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Bright!Tax was also named 2017 Tax Provider of the Year for the Americas Region at a glamorous awards dinner in Denver, Colorado in May, as well as runner up in the Innovation in Banking and Financial Services category behind global behemoth HSBC.

The EMMA awards are organized by the Forum of Expatriate Management to recognize and celebrate excellence in the Global Mobility and Expat Services industries. The awards are held annually across 3 regions: the Americas, Asia Pacific, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

So how is relatively small US expat tax services provider Bright!Tax punching so far above its weight this year and competing with and beating much bigger and better known firms?

The answer is that Bright!Tax has been employing industry-first innovations to deliver significant service and experience improvements for its American Expat clients.

For example, this year Bright!Tax has launched a ground-breaking Online Client Tax Organizer, created from the ground up to alleviate the requirement for expats to complete a long questionnaire form when they start their tax return each year, as well as the Bright!Tax App, which allows expats to file their US taxes from their phone or tablet, communicate with their Bright!Tax CPA, and securely scanning and upload documents from their mobile device.

Multiple award winning entrepreneur Greg Dewald founded Bright!Tax five years ago after moving overseas and experiencing for himself how Americans living abroad not only still have to file a US tax return reporting their worldwide income, but are also subject to further US filing requirements just for expats.

Since FATCA (the infamous 2010 Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act), the US government now knows about most expats' finances, so not complying can result in steep fines. Feeling caught between what to many seems like government overreach and complex ,extensive requirements, leaves many expats feeling stressed and anxious. Bright!Tax' mission is to help these expats become compliant by providing the smoothest and most stress-free tax filing experience possible.

Dewald says: "Being shortlisted for the 2017 EMEA Tax Provider of the Year award is a huge honor. It's been a record-breaking year for the team at Bright!Tax so far, as we continue to focus on achieving industry-leading excellence and providing the best possible service for our clients. Filing US taxes from overseas can be stressful, but with Bright!Tax, it doesn't have to be."

The winner will be announced at a gala dinner in London on November 10th.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Greg Dewald
Bright!Tax US Expat Tax Services
Telephone: 212-465-2528
Email: Click to Email Greg Dewald
Web: http://brighttax.com

Bright!Tax Wins Second Prestigious FEM Expat Tax Provider of the Year EMMA Award in 2017 in Hong Kong

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/12/2017 -- Leading US expat tax services provider Bright!Tax has been named Expat Tax Provider of the Year for the Asia Pacific region at an exclusive awards ceremony in Hong Kong, in front of runner up global titan EY (Ernst and Young).

The announcement follows Bright!Tax being named Expat Tax Provider of the Year for the Americas region in May.

The EMMA awards are arranged by the Forum for Expat Management, the worldwide global mobility and expat services community hub, and the EMMAs celebrate excellence in these fields.

Bright!Tax's unprecedented achievement and increasing global dominance in international tax services is thanks to several trail-blazing, industry-leading innovations that the firm has introduced in the last year to make the potentially onerous process of filing US taxes from overseas simpler and smoother for expats.

These include the introduction of a secure online client tax organizer that makes providing the information required for tax returns much easier, and the launch of a mobile app offering clients smooth communication with their CPA and the ability to securely scan and upload documents from their phone or tablet. These and other innovations are singling Bright!Tax out as the stand-out thought leader in the field of expat tax services, and explain why Bright!Tax is leaving its longer-established rivals in its wake.

The award was announced at a glamorous gala dinner at the Harbour Grand Hotel in Hong Kong.

Gregory Dewald, lifelong entrepreneur, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, and the mastermind behind the firms meteoric rise to market dominance has innovated by creating technological solutions to make expats' lives easier, while also emphasizing the importance of maintaining interpersonal, human interaction and empathy between clients and their accountants despite their often being geographically distant.

Dewald said: "We are humbled and honored to receive this second EMMA award in 2017. We are quasi-obsessive in the pursuit of offering a world-class, stress-free experience for our expat clients, and recognition of the success we feel we are achieving in this endeavor thanks to this new EMMA award is a prize our whole dedicated and talented team thoroughly deserves."

Aina Swartz Wins Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award

The Bright!Tax Awards Committee is pleased to announce that Aina Swartz has been awarded the latest Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award.

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/15/2017 -- The Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award offers supplementary tuition fees support to exceptional young Americans who wish to study overseas.

Aina is starting a full time honors course in History and International Relations at London's King College University in September. Alongside her track record of academic excellence, Aina's global outlook, and insightful observations on being a young American abroad caught the Awards Committee's attention in particular.

Born in Thailand, Aina then lived in Australia before moving back to the States when she was 14. When she was 17, she learned Swedish from scratch and arranged off her own back to spend a semester at a school in Sweden, studying entirely in Swedish. She has also undertaken a volunteer placement in Ghana, Africa.

Of her time in Sweden, Aina says: " I found myself explaining American customs to my intrigued Swedish friends and defending them to dissenters. It was a strange phenomenon; I felt proud to share my culture with those who were interested, and even prouder to defend it. When it came to the American way of life, however, I was presented with a multitude of stereotypes, biases, and just plain rumors. I tried to explain to people that, most of all, I have found being American meant seeing everyone as American despite their heritage, religion, and political affiliation. Even though we may not always succeed in doing so, I believe that this is the core tenet of Americanism."

Aina continues: "That is not to say that "American" is the only label I wear. I refuse to let my American patriotism contradict the other aspects of myself. I am just as proud of my American citizenship as I am of my global citizenship, because, at the end of the day, we are all inhabitants of the same, small planet."

Aina fought off stiff competition from 380 other applicants in the second round of the Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award this year.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, financial need, and at the discretion of the Bright!Tax Awards Committee.

Gregory Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, says:

"The Global Scholar Initiative is a personal passion of mine, inspired by an opportunity to study abroad that began my journey towards living abroad full time as an expat and founding Bright!Tax to help other expats file their US taxes."

He continues: "Aina is an impressive young lady who, thanks to her international upbringing, has a passion for experiencing life abroad and a remarkable drive, intelligence, and understanding of the opportunities and responsibilities Americans find when they venture overseas. We are sure she will go on to achieve great things, and are proud to play a part in her journey."

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/20/2017 -- Leading expatriate tax services provider Bright!Tax has been named as a finalist for the prestigious Tax Provider of the Year FEM EMMA Award (Asia Pacific Region).

FEM (the Forum for Expatriate Management) is a hub for the worldwide Global Mobility community, providing an online news and information portal and hosting an annual calendar of international events. The FEM EMMAs (Expatriate Management and Mobility Awards) recognize excellence and innovation in the fields of Global Mobility and Services for Expats.

The announcement follows Bright!Tax already having won Tax Provider of the Year 2017 for the Americas region at a glamorous EMMAs event in Denver in May. Bright!Tax was also named runner up in the Americas 'Expatriate Banking and Financial Services Innovation' category, behind global banking giant HSBC.

The new nomination comes following a year in which Bright!Tax has revolutionized the experience of filing US taxes from abroad.

Bright!Tax's new Online Client Tax Organizer is a ground-breaking innovation that signals the end of returning clients having to fill out a long questionnaire form when they begin their tax return each year. The Bright!Tax App meanwhile, another industry first, allows Bright!Tax clients to file their US taxes from their phone or tablet, interacting with their Bright!Tax CPA, keeping track of their international travel, and uploading documents straight from their mobile device.

Gregory Dewald founded Bright!Tax five years ago, having moved abroad and encountered an absence of information and support for the complex and often stressful process of filing US taxes from overseas. Bright!Tax has been growing exponentially ever since, thanks to its dedication to making filing US taxes from overseas as smooth a process as possible. Bright!Tax now has clients in over 150 countries.

Dewald says: "I couldn't be happier about Bright!Tax being announced as a finalist for the 2017 Asia Pacific Tax Provider of the Year FEM EMMA award. It's just recognition for our our incredibly talented team, and I'm also deeply grateful to the FEM awards committee for nominating us."

Dewald said: "We are hugely honored to receive this award in recognition of the excellence we feel we have achieved through our persistent quest for perfection. Filing US taxes from overseas is no one's idea of a picnic, but we are genuinely passionate about making the process as easy and hassle-free as possible for our clients.
The Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) unites the worldwide global mobility community via an online news and information portal and an annual calendar of international events.

For this year's FEM American EMMA Awards, Bright!Tax has been shortlisted in the categories 'Tax Provider of the Year', and 'Expatriate Banking and Financial Services Innovation', in recognition of the many ground-breaking innovations Bright!Tax has introduced to make tax filing from abroad a smoother, simpler process for their clients.

Among Bright!Tax's recent industry-first technological innovations are the Bright!Tax Online Client Tax Organizer, which alleviates the need for clients to fill out a long client questionnaire form when they start their tax return each year.
In the 'Expatriate Banking and Financial Services Innovation' category, Bright!Tax is up against HSBC among other behemoths, however they are confident that their transformative organizational and technological innovations speak for themselves.

Multiple award winning entrepreneur Gregory Dewald founded Bright!Tax with a vision of making the otherwise often stressful process of filing US taxes from abroad as smooth and straightforward as possible. Since its inception, and thanks to a relentless pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the business that underpins the firm's methodology, Bright!Tax has grown at a constant rate of over 80% a year and now has clients in almost every country in the world.

Dewald says: "We're thrilled to have been shortlisted for two prestigious 2017 FEM EMMA awards. It's a huge honor. We're incredibly grateful to the FEM awards committee for nominating us, and we're looking forward to the awards ceremony in Denver in early May. May the fourth be with us!"

Erin Moran Wins Bright!Tax Global Scholar Award for Her Pioneering Work with Autistic Children in Kazakhstan

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/12/2017 -- The Bright!Tax Awards Committee is proud to announce that Erin Moran is the latest recipient of a Bright!Tax Global Scholar award. Erin is studying for her PhD at University College London's Institute of Education. Erin won in a tightly contested field of over 400 candidates.

Erin's post-graduate work is as inspirational as it is unexpected. In Kazakhstan, autistic children are considered outcasts, and so are excluded from participating in schools. Erin however aims to change this. Working alongside local partners and charities, Erin is helping mothers of autistic children train teachers to educate children with autism, with the objective of changing the perceived stigma so that autistic children can attend mainstream schools.

In Erin's words: "Autism was a disability I saw closely growing up as I watched my uncle trying to help my autistic cousin. I had often wondered how people with limited resources could cope though. As the mothers of children with autism in Kazakhstan poured out their frustrations to me about the lack of available special education for their children, I knew that helping these very special children and their families would play a role in my future. I am now combining my passion for travel with helping children with Autism in a town no one has ever heard of in a country most people know little about, Ust-Kamenogorsk, in Kazakhstan."

The Bright!Tax Global Scholar Initiative provides supplementary fees support to exceptional young Americans who are currently studying or who wish to study abroad.

Erin continues: "I would like to thank Bright!Tax for their support in my project. It is greatly appreciated and will help to make a difference in many children's lives and their families."

Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, financial need, and at the discretion of the Bright!Tax Awards Committee.

Gregory Dewald, Bright!Tax founder and CEO, says:

"The Global Scholar Initiative was inspired by my experience studying abroad, as well as a recognition that American expats are shaping the world's perceptions towards Americans and the US. American expats are the real American heroes, ambassadors, and pioneers of the 21st century."

He continues: "Erin's work is an inspiration to me, but more importantly, she is inspiring and helping countless others. Her mission is good and noble and we encourage her, with our support, to do great things. And we know she will."

Bright!Tax Supports American Expatriate Heroes Overseas

Cincinnati Startup assisting 7 million US expats worldwide lifts anchor in NYC, scouts international sites for new HQ.

New York, NY -- (ReleaseWire) -- 10/16/2014 -- Though it had been in the works for some time, just this summer, the US Treasury Department unleashed a regulatory tsunami upon US citizens living and working abroad, the Foreign Asset Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). Uncle Sam and President Obama haven't exactly spelled out "FATCAT", but they're only one letter off. And though their initial interest was to target the 1 percent with significant quiet offshore holdings, the average American expat has, unfortunately, been caught in the cross-hairs.

"At Bright!Tax, we feel that American expatriates on the whole are American heroes," said Greg Dewald, principal and founder of Bright!Tax (http://www.brighttax.com), a global US income tax and accounting firm exclusively serving US expatriates. "In the era of globalization, American expats represent the best of what the United States projects onto the world stage. At the very least, they deserve to be treated fairly by the US government and with an acknowledgement that reflects the contributions they make to 'Brand USA' and the United States' interests at large."

"Bright!Tax, from its inception, exists solely to assist American expats with their US tax filing obligation by providing simple, secure and reliable online tax preparation services that heretofore were simply unavailable," Dewald said.

There are over 7 million Americans living and working overseas, most of whom are still on the hook for filing federal taxes every year, and many of them were simply unaware of their obligation to do so. Americans, uniquely, are assessed on worldwide income, and unless they have renounced US citizenship and returned their US passport, American expats must file federal taxes every year, the same as if they lived in Anytown, USA.
With his visionary brand of entrepreneurialism, Dewald is a lifelong innovator who previously was principal and CEO at Opera Incorporated, a nationally renowned US designer of exhibits based in Cincinnati, OH. While leading Opera, Dewald and his staff of over 50 engaged clients nationwide in a cloud-based design and production process, a unique platform that singed the potential of even more expansive global web commerce in his mind, and thus, led to Bright!Tax.

Bright!Tax is a virtual company, save for its data center in New York, which will be relocated early next year to its first international headquarters. An international site search has narrowed the company's options to office facilities in London, Brussels, Singapore and Hong Kong.

"We anticipate making a decision sometime this fall, with the goal of announcing our first international headquarters for Bright!Tax in January of 2015," Dewald said. All employees currently work remotely; all Bright!Tax front-office, back-office, communications and infrastructure originate in the company's cloud-based architecture. Dewald currently lives in Argentina and Cincinnati.

The first international headquarters will house the Bright!Tax data center as well as Dewald's HQ offices and an as-yet undetermined number of staff. Currently, Bright!Tax employs 10 CPAs working remotely from their individual office facilities across the US. Expansion plans call for 25 CPAs over the next two years, and as many as 50 over the next five years.

"This is what we're preparing for, that is the growth path we are seeing and the future potential of Bright!Tax is very impressive," Dewald said. "Our goal is to come to scale and win a significant share of our market within this burgeoning industry," Dewald said. "It's an opportunity for us to introduce excellence into this space, and to display our true passion, which is our near fanatical commitment to client happiness and satisfaction."
