Sunglasses sale in Fulton!

Fulton, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/18/2017 -- Every day of the year, whether it is sunny or overcast, we are exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. Most people know how harmful UV radiation is to their skin, but many people don't realize that UV radiation is also harmful to their eyes. If you expose your eyes to excessive amounts of UV, the short term effect is likely to be photokeratitis, which is a fancy word for sunburn of the eye. The symptoms can be painful and include redness, a gritty sensation, extreme sensitivity to light, and excessive tearing. Fortunately, these symptoms are usually temporary and rarely cause permanent damage. Unprotected exposure to UV radiation over long periods of time, however, increase the risk of developing more serious, and sometimes irreversible, issues such as cataracts, certain cancers of the eye, and macular degeneration.

This is why you should make sure you and your family always wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection when spending time outdoors.

VisionArts Eyecare Center at 614 Market Street in Fulton is making that easy with their Fun in the Sun sunglasses sale on Friday, May 5 from 12pm-5pm.

In addition to VisionArts' already large selection of sunglasses, representatives from several eyewear companies will be there with their entire selection of sunwear.

Contact lenses for the Hard to Fit Patient

Fulton, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/13/2017 -- Have you ever been told you can't wear contact lenses or have you been unhappy with your contact lens experiences in the past? Always on the cutting edge of technology, Dr. Vann has been prescribing specialty contact lenses for 27 years. In fact, Dr. Vann was chosen as CooperVision "Best Practice" for 2016 because of his progressive approach to fitting contact lenses. "Recent advances in contact lens technology now allow me to fit many patients who were previously unsuccessful wearing contacts," says Vann.
Visionarts Eyecare Center Brings Cutting Edge Tech to Missouri

New VisiOffice 2 Promises To Revolutionize Way Glasses Are Prescribed

Fulton, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/31/2015 -- VisionArts Eyecare Center, a local optometric practice renowned for its forward thinking take on patient care, has recently announced the addition of its newest revolutionary piece of equipment, the Visioffice 2, which captures high resolution 3-D images of a patient's eyes, to provide advanced accuracy for the creation of personalized eyeglass lens, customized to each patient's unique visual needs.

In describing the value of the new VisiOffice 2 system, Dr. James W. Vann of VisionArts Eyecare Center comments, "Much like fingerprints and many other features of a person's individuality, each and every pair of eyes is completely different and unlike any other. When considering this fact, it becomes abundantly clear that the one-size-fits-all approach of lens measurement no longer makes the grade. The Visioffice 2 allows an optometrist to take extremely precise measurements of each eye individually. Unfortunately, previous technologies forced the eye doctor to measure both eyes together, rather than independently, often negatively affecting results and oh-so-slightly reducing the effectiveness of the lenses prescribed. The new Visioffice 2, by contrast, allows for enhanced individualization of measurements and customization of lenses and an increased ability to bring the clearest vision possible to each and every patient."

Also exclusive to the Visioffice 2 is a patent pending, state-of-the-art measurement, known as Eyecode. This allows an optometrist to personalize lens prescriptions by obtaining an individualized measurement known as Eye Rotation Center (ERC) for each eye with a single measurement. After combining this eye data with frame and head/eye behavior data, Dr. Vann is able to create a vision profile for each patient as unique as a fingerprint. Dr. Vann comments "Eyecode is just a single example of the many innovative technologies that put the VisiOffice 2 head and shoulders above all other measuring systems currently available in the eye care world. We're excited to be the first practice in the state of Missouri to have invested back into their patients, by adding the VisiOffice 2 to our practice to improve the overall visual acuity and comfort offered with every pair of glasses we prescribe."

In addition to the ground breaking advantages of accurate 3-D measurements, the Visioffice 2 offers interactive and user-friendly videos, that help educate patients about the various features and advantages of different lens designs, materials, and lens treatments, and helps patients choose which frames are best for them.

From 3D eye modeling to Eyecode and frame design analysis, Dr. Vann and his team at VisionArts Eyecare Center, are excited to welcome guests to see the difference that the new Visioffice 2 system makes.

For more information on this press release visit: http://www.releasewire.com/press-releases/release-3.htm

Media Relations Contact

Daniel Rostenne
Telephone: 573-642-6800
Email: Click to Email Daniel Rostenne
Web: http://www.visionartseyecare.com/

Local Optometric Practice Brings Advanced Eyecare Tech to Fulton

Dr. Vann: “New Optomap Is The Most Accurate Retinal Scan Ever”

Fulton, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/27/2015 -- Dr. James W. Vann of VisionArts Eyecare Center, a local Fulton optometric practice with a reputation for high-tech, forward thinking patient care, is proud to introduce the latest cutting edge technology in retinal imaging, the OPTOS Optomap wide-angle scanning device.

"The Optomap ultra-wide field retinal imaging device takes a panoramic digital image of the retina using laser technology," explains Dr. Vann, "In mere seconds, it provides an in-depth view of the retinal layers where disease starts."

Imaging technologies similar to the Optomap have traditionally been limited to scans that produce an image of only about 15% of the retina. The OPTOS Optomap is superior in that it is able to accurately capture an image of around 80% of the retina, providing a detailed picture of the patient's eye and crating a permanent photographic record for the medical file, which provides comparisons for tracking and diagnosing potential disease, allowing the doctor to review each patient's retinal image with them during their exams.

Dr. Vann recommends that every one of his patients receive an Optomap wide-angle scan, "Every patient can benefit from the Optomap retinal screening. We are able to detect, with higher accuracy and at an earlier stage than ever before, eye conditions such as Age-related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Retinal Detachment, Hypertension and Ocular Melanoma. And since the retina is the only place in your body where blood vessels can be seen directly with such clarity, signs of stroke, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and other systemic diseases can also be detected with the Optomap scan. "

The OPTOS also puts a noticeable focus on maximizing patient convenience and eliminating patient discomfort. The optomap scan is quick and completely painless. To capture the image, the patient looks into the device one eye at a time. A comfortable flash of light flashes as the image of the retina is taken. Dilation drops are not required and the patient experiences no side effects.

As a final thought, Dr. Vann adds, "The most exciting aspect of the Optomap is that it provides a better alternative to dilating the eyes for examination and preserves a digital image for future review. Everyone knows an image is worth a thousand words or handwritten drawings. The ability to provide the best care in the world for my patients, improve our efficiency in doing so and maintain a high tech reputation in the process are the attributes of the Optomap that made this investment easy.

VisionArts Eyecare Center Named as Top Transitions Optical

VisionArts Eyecare Center Has Been Named As One of the Top Three Eyecare Practices in America for 2014

Fulton, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/14/2015 -- Dr. J.W. Vann and his staff at VisionArts Eyecare Center in Fulton, MO, were recently recognized as one of the top three eyecare practices in America for 2014 by Transitions Optical. They were honored at the recent Transitions Academy, held January 26-28, in Orlando, FL.

The nominees were judged on a number of criteria including community involvement, staff education and training, and alignment with Transitions Optical's commitment to help patients improve the quality of their lives by enhancing their vision and protecting the health of their eyes. Eyecare practices nationwide were invited to show how well they meet each of the criteria. The top three finalists were invited to represent themselves at the Transitions Academy which brings together leading eye care practitioners from around North America. During the academy, Dr. Vann served on a "best practices panel" where he and the other nominees answered questions for the hundreds in attendance.

Dr. Vann and his staff are thrilled to be acknowledged as a leader in their industry and continue to dedicate themselves to improving the quality of lives through compassionate care, individualized education, and innovative health technology. "I am honored and proud to be recognized for our continued efforts to preserve and protect our patients' vision, as well as our contributions back to our community", commented Dr. Vann. "We strive to improve the quality of our patients' lives through leading-edge technology. Offering Transitions adaptive lenses is perfectly in line with that mission. as they provide 100% UV protection with adaptable lens technology that makes lenses the exact shade they need to be in every situation."

Nothing is more important to VisionArts than promoting healthy sight both in the office and throughout the community. The practice created a not-for-profit organization called Second Sight Friends that raised money to purchase low vision aids for local nursing home residents. In addition to this, it is involved in supporting many other area organizations including Serve, Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen of Mid-Missouri, Buddy Pack, and many more.

"We're particularly proud that the Transitions award recognizes our whole staff's commitment to our community", said Dr. Vann. He added "Giving back to our local charities and schools and reaching out to educate our community on eye health is the least we can do. The organizations to which we contribute are all part of what makes Callaway County a place that my family and I are proud to call home."

Visionarts is particularly involved in assisting the younger members of the community. It participated in the YMCA's Healthy Kids Days, educating 2nd and 3rd graders on eye health. At Serve's Back to School fair, they distributed "Eye Didn't Know That" books and pencils to nearly 800 children. Last May, they held an event called the "Great Glasses Play Day" to celebrate children who wear glasses, patches, or contact lenses. The event was a rousing success and will now become an annual community event. Inside the office they provide a free 'Eyefood for Kids" book to every family with children under age 12. Dr. Vann also frequently gives seminars at the office and throughout the community that focus on eye health and wellness.

Visionarts Eyecare Center Becomes the First Optometry Practice in Fulton, Missouri to Offer Screening for Early Detection of Diabetes as Part of Routine Eye Exam

Visionarts Eyecare Center offers Open House and free screenings with the new ClearPath DS-120 on Monday November 3nd, 2014

Fulton, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/03/2014 -- Visionarts Eyecare Center, a leading optometric practice in Fulton, Missouri has announced the arrival of the first device in the Fulton and Callaway County area to measure autofluorescence of the eye, a marker for uncontrolled glucose and diabetes. Cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier this year, the ClearPath DS-120™ Lens Fluorescence Biomicroscope is a first-in-class, non-invasive tool designed to quickly and accurately measure autofluorescence through a six second scan of the crystalline lens of the eye. A significant number of independent peer-reviewed studies have suggested that elevated lens autofluorescence may be an early indicator of the presence of diabetes, and that measuring autofluorescence as a means of detection has the potential to catch diabetes up to seven years earlier than previous detection methods. Furthermore, unlike traditional forms of diabetes detection, no blood tests or fasting are involved and results are immediate.

Nearly 104.8 million Americans have diabetes or pre-diabetes, costing an estimated $250 billion annually. In its early stages diabetes shows no symptoms. Because of this, by the time diabetes is actually detected, it is often too late to control it by a simple change in lifestyle. Complications of diabetes, including blindness, kidney failure and amputations can be avoided with early disease detection and intervention. Dr. James W. Vann of Visionarts Eyecare Center explains, "With diabetes being at epidemic levels, this technology is useful for each and every patient. Currently, a blood test is not ordered until a health history uncovers certain risk factors. Because of this, diabetes often remains undetected until it is too late to be controlled by diet, exercise and lifestyle changes alone. With this technology, each and every patient will have the option to monitor their potential for developing the disease."

The patient experience with the ClearPath DS-120 is simple, quick and painless. The patient looks into the device by resting his/her chin on a chin rest and placing his/her forehead against the machine. This automatically aligns the patient's left eye with the machine properly and he/she will see a red target inside the machine. After the technician has the eye perfectly centered, the test begins. After blinking several times the patient opens his/her eye as wide as possible for six seconds while a blue light illuminates and scans the eye.

The ClearPath DS-120 produces a quantitative result that is immediately available to the optometrist and patient, and can be electronically transmitted to a patient or referral healthcare provider. The device has a small footprint, sits on a table top, and employs an easy to use touch screen display that can be wirelessly linked to a practitioner's electronic medical record system.

Visionarts Eyecare Center will be holding an open house on Monday, November 3rd at 7:00 PM in their office, located at 614 Market Street in Fulton, Missouri. Dr. Vann will be giving a presentation on the ClearPath DS-120, and those who attend will be given the opportunity to be scanned for free and obtain their real-time test results report.
