The Eurasian National University (ENU) of Kazakhstan is one of the largest universities in Kazakhstan with approximately 15,000 students currently attending the institution. San Mateo, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/15/2014 -- Silicon Valley Innovation Center organized an executive training focused on Career Counseling for the executive members and counselors of the faculty of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in Kazakhstan. The goal of the program was to provide faculty members and counselors with guidance regarding the vast amount of opportunities that are available in Silicon Valley, and to enable exchange of knowledge as well as future collaboration between the leaders of school education in Kazakhstan and some of the most prominent educational organizations based in the United States.

The 8-day program started on the 1st of December, with an orientation session and a workshop on 'New trends in vocational guidance work with students in the 21st century. This was followed by a seminar which focused on how to be an effective career counselor. Recognized individuals from the field of education visited to share their views on how present day technology could be used to improve career counseling, as well as how fresh graduates could apply themselves in the field of modern technology.

Each day the individuals were shown a number of presentations, designed to provide them with an idea of the growing number of opportunities that were available in the world of tech. On the second day, the faculty members and counselors were taken on a tour of different campuses, and were given presentations on effective strategies for selective admission to universities, as well as other opportunities that students could avail.

The third and fourth day were focused on more specific topics, primarily on how to help students find their place in life. They were also presented with strategies on how to improve student performance and stimulate achievements among individuals. They took part in the program of accelerated development and incubation of innovative projects over the period from October 26 through November 15, 2014.

The Design Thinking program, organized by Silicon Valley Innovation Center, went successful with its core intention to bring innovation and advancement in Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools in Kazakhstan

San Mateo, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/12/2014 -- Silicon Valley Innovation Center (SVIC), which is known worldwide for organizing educational events and executive trainings, has completed the Design Thinking program. This comprehensive and innovative training, started from November 28th to December 7th, consisted of one week lectures and visits in Silicon Valley and Washington.

This executive program focused on design thinking in k-12 education and invited all executives, CEOs and school principles of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools (NIS) –  a large school network in Kazakhstan.

The intention behind the program provided by SVIC was to introduce all the school educational leaders from NIS to the most innovative schools in the US. These leaders exchanged ideas and knowledge about how to foster innovation and implement the creative teaching methodologies in the current educational system in NIS.

The program consisted of seminars where educational leaders from Kazakhstan learnt  from design thinking experts such as Leon Segal and Scott Underwood (Ex-IDEO) about development of design thinking and creative approach to teaching to support the innovators of the future.

The visits included the tours of innovation centers at Stanford University. There were  several presentation sessions teaching about how to improve the teaching methodologies in schools and introduce creative methods. During Google education visit the group was taught about how to design the effective curriculum to meet the needs of a teacher as well as a student.

A seminar by Dr. Milton Chen focused on how to transform a classroom into the favorite place of a student so that he/she never feels like escaping the classroom and it  provided a solution to the most common educational problems in a very creative way.

Dr. Mark Silver, head of Hillbrook school and Bill Sedak, Director of Technology shared his ideas of bringing innovation to reconstruct the old and boring school day routine into something attractive and useful. Similarly, Bayside stem academy team talked about the roles of students, teachers and leaders in promoting design thinking and implementing creativity at educational institutes.
