SK Replaces Japan as the World’s Best Educated Country this Year

Camden, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/08/2015 -- NJ MED, a US based NGO and a Member of the United Nation's Department of Economic and Social Affairs is pleased to announce South Korea as the World's Best Educated Country as part of the Second Annual World Top 20 Educational Poll. South Korea took over last year's winner Japan by just one point as per the Poll Ranking. The polls are conducted across 200 nations' education systems worldwide. The following aspects are considered in the ranking system: early childhood enrollment rates, proficiency level test scores in math, science and reading for both elementary and middle-school students along with the high school and college graduation rates.

The other countries that have made it to the top 20 are UK, Singapore, Canada, Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Finland, Israel, Denmark, China, Hong Kong, Norway, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia and USA. A global ranking system has been developed by NJ MED which will be used to oversee that every child is provided the opportunity to reach their full potential. The ranking system's database will also be used to strengthen the education systems of these nations and to help their governments work with international organizations such as the World Bank, United Nations and FIFA so as to support the local NGOs in their missions to help communities and villages towards economic planning and development.

The poll ranks over 200 nation's education systems, from early-childhood enrollment to college graduation rates.

NJ MED, a US based NGO, developed the global ranking system to serve as a single body to oversee every child is afforded the opportunity to reach their full potential. By using their ranking system's data base to work with nations to strengthen their education systems; and to link their governments with international organizations like the United Nations, FIFA and the World Bank, to support local NGOs in helping communities and villages in economic planning and development.

To measure nation's educational efforts and outcomes, the Poll's data are gathered and calculated from 5 major International education data basis:

- the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) which ranks 65 nations in their annual index report from their Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) study.
- Combining with the United Nation's Economic and Social Council (UNESOC) 54 member's countries education results,
- the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) 187 nations study,
- the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 59 nations studies and
- Progress in International Reading Study (PIRLS) 46 nation report.

The Poll's data results are then sent to the nation's Ministries of Education and Department of Education to confirm its accuracy.

This year's winner South Korea overtakes last year's winner Japan by one single point in the poll's ranking system. In measuring outcomes from early-childhood enrollment rates, proficiency level test scores in math, science and reading for both elementary and middle-school students, as well as, their high school and college graduation rates.

Top nation's like the United Kingdom, Russia and Germany are also represented in this year's poll top 10; with other major countries like China and the United States of America in the bottom half. No African nation or superpower like India and North Korea, not even making the list.
