Aberdeenshire, Scotland -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/04/2015 -- April's Shanghai Motor Show provided an opportunity for Peugeot to show off a potential new addition to its 308 hatchback range in the form of the bold 308 Hybrid R concept. Peugeot is hoping to put the hybrid into production within the next few years.

The Peugeot 308 medium-sized hatchback is already available as an estate and in sporty GT form. Later this year, an even hotter GTI version will join the line-up, with the four-wheel-drive Hybrid R hopefully completing the racy trio within four years. Peugeot and Suzuki Aberdeen dealership Gillanders are excited at the prospect of a hybrid version of the hot hatches for which Peugeot is well known, while the French company also confirmed at Shanghai that it also has another SUV planned.

The Hybrid R seen in Shanghai complements its athletic appearance with a 267bhp engine and a 114bhp electric motor on each axle to give a combined 493bhp. Peugeot claims it will reach 62mph in four seconds, but thanks to hybrid technology it can boast CO2 emissions of 70g/km. A 308 R Concept was shown at last year's Paris Motor Show, but its production status has not yet been confirmed.

Peugeot has already used hybrid technology in its 3008 and 508 models to great effect, and the company's chief executive, Carlos Tavares, has publicly stated that a combination of internal combustion engine and electric motors is the direction Peugeot will be taking for future sporty models.

Peterhead, Aberdeenshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/10/2015 -- With new looks, engines and an expansion of the GTi range, the Peugeot 208 is set to be more competitive than ever when the updated model goes on sale in the summer of 2015.

Peugeot will be giving the new 208 hatchback its time in the spotlight during the Geneva Motor Show in March, but it has revealed extensive details about the overhauled range ahead of this launch, as it gears up to start selling the car in the UK this June.

One of the most impressive features promised for the 208 is fuel-efficiency, with Peugeot tweaking the engine to deliver more miles per gallon than almost any other manufacturer. The 1.6 litre BlueHDI unit will be the best in this department, promising a combined figure of at least 94mpg.

The only vehicles that can beat the 208 in terms of efficiency are hybrids, which mean that the range will be the most efficient traditional option on the market this year.

Diesel power plants will also accompany petrol units, including a 110bhp 1.2 litre VTi. Meanwhile, the 208 range will be expanded to include models coming under the GTi by PEUGEOT Sport name, giving buyers more choice when it comes to performance-oriented models.

The 208 GTi 30th Anniversary model is extending its run in the range, bringing improved suspension and handling to the table.

Various aesthetics changes have taken place on the outside, with a front end and profile a bit sleeker and more aggressive. The interior has also been improved, with premium materials featured on the dash, the steering wheel and the seating.

Models with at least the Active trim or higher will get a built-in touchscreen entertainment centre as standard. This can also integrate with iPhone devices and allow for real-time mirroring of the handset's display.

This kind of smart integration is increasingly common, even amongst smaller family vehicles, so it is good to see the 208 keeping pace.
