Once again, Honda has triumphed in the What Car? Reliability Survey.

Bedford, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/06/2015 -- For the ninth consecutive year, Honda has been named as the UK's most reliable used car manufacturer. They beat off competition from 36 other manufacturers to claim the top spot once again.

The What Car? survey takes data from 50,000 Warranty Direct policies and analysis that data. All policies are live, so the data is guaranteed to be up to date and relevant. It covers vehicles aged between three to eight years old, which is the age of the majority of the cars currently on the UK's roads.

Other Asian car manufactures also did well in the survey. Suzuki was second and Toyota took the third spot. However, some non-Asian manufacturers are moving up the rankings. Ford, Chevrolet, Skoda, Fiat and Peugeot all featured in the top ten as well.

Surprisingly some of the most expensive cars were the most likely to breakdown. Both Bentley and Porsche featured in the list of cars that were most likely to breakdown.

This survey is extremely important for the used car market. The majority of those buying used cars in Bedfordshire and other parts of the UK factor how reliable a car is into their purchasing decision. Sales data shows that demand for those cars with a reputation for reliability is high.

The data provided by Warranty Direct's Reliability Index is the gold standard. This survey is valid and respected because it takes into account several key factors including the age of the vehicle, mileage and the cost of each repair. It also provides details of which components are most likely to fail on each car.

Across all vehicles, electrical faults are the most common, 22.34% of all issues experienced by warranty holders was related to electrical faults. Not far behind were axle and suspension faults with 22% of all repairs relating to these parts of the car. The system that is least likely to fail is air-conditioning. Only 3% or drivers ended up taking their car to the garage as a result of air-conditioning issues.

It looks like 2015 is going to be another great year for used car dealers in the UK.

Bedford, Bedfordshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/07/2015 -- Statistics put together by WhatCar.com show that 2015 should be a record-breaking year for the UK car industry as a whole. They are reporting that interest in used cars from the British public has soared.

In January alone, the car site received 3.9 million visitors. Each person that visited the site is a potential buyer. Many of those visitors are there to research their next car. The vast majority who get as far as visiting a site like this are at the buying stage or very close to that stage. Typically, they are doing far more than just window-shopping and information gathering.

Car dealerships and garages in the UK enjoyed a great end to 2014 with record sales for both the used and new car sectors. Because of this very strong finish to 2014 the number of cars for sale in Bedford and some other parts of the UK has fallen. The fact that so many people across the UK bought cars at the end of the year thinned out the stock of used cars on forecourts leaving many used car dealers scrabbling to re-stock.

Fortunately, new car registrations went up at the start of 2015, which helped to release a new wave of used cars to market to those on a tighter budget. The latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders back up the statistics published by What Car. The organisation reported that sales of cars in the UK have increased for 35 consecutive months. Some pundits are saying that this rate of growth is unsustainable, but others in the industry expect to see growth continue. Those who expect growth to continue point to the improving economy and falling cost of living as the main drivers for continued growth of sales.

Bedford, Bedfordshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/10/2015 -- Every quarter the FLA releases several reports one of which covers car leasing and finance. The latest report has revealed that consumers in the UK are once again going out and buying cars.

In December of 2014, demand for car finance rose by 10%. During 2014, as a whole, demand was up by 13% when compared to demand in 2013. In total, both private individuals and companies secured 897,593 vehicle related loans during 2014. Members of the FLA lent UK households a total of £32.4 billion to be used for the purchase of either used or new cars.

Much of the growth came from the private car sector. Of the total loans for the year of 2014, 76.1 per cent were for use by private individuals. The rest was used by firms and fleet owners to purchase vehicles for their businesses.

Geraldine Kilkelly, who is one of the FLA's chief economist s and head of research, said of the figures:

"There has been strong growth in consumer motor finance provided through dealerships by FLA members over the last couple of years. Our most recent industry confidence survey suggests that growth is likely to continue in 2015, but at a slower rate than in 2014.'

There is no regional breakdown for this report, but car dealers in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire have told us that they have noticed a rise in demand for both used and new vehicles. This feeling is borne out in official statistics. Experian recently released figures for used car sales in the UK, which shows that demand for used cars have reached the highest levels since 2008. Sales of new cars are also up on last year for both business and private individuals.

For the third quarter of 2014, 1.86 million used cars were sold across the UK. There was some regional variation, but across most areas of the UK, the sale of used cars had gone up and reached pre-recession levels.
