Derbyshire, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/23/2015 -- A new Hyundai concept called the Enduro has been unveiled, hinting at the firm's intentions to enter the compact crossover market.

The roads of the UK are becoming clogged with compact crossovers - scaled-down SUVs that are family-friendly, affordable and still have plenty of presence on the road. From the Nissan Qasqai to the Range Rover Evoque, the booming popularity of this segment has encouraged many manufacturers to get involved.

Hyundai's new concept car could be the start of one of the most compact ranges to date, with the Enduro going on show in South Korea this week during the Seoul Motor Show and taking a three-door approach to crossover design and aiming itself squarely at urban drivers with a number of features.

The inside will have room for four people, and the car will have a moderately powerful two-litre engine, although since this is merely a concept design it is uncertain just how much of this will translate into the retail version.

Other interior benefits include plenty of storage space, especially in the boot, which could well make it a popular family option.

The hunched, poised profile from the side gives the Enduro the kind of sporty but intimidating look that many buyers want from a compact crossover. And while it may be two or three years before a production model is launched, in the meantime drivers are spoilt for choice with Hyundai's other used and new vehicles.
