Honda Launches Innovative YouTube Ad Campaign

Part of Honda’s launch campaign for their new CR-V is a unique video, which has already gone viral.

Dundee, Scotland -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/24/2015 -- This unusual advert was though up and produced by the mcgarry bowen agency in London. The video shows a new Honda CR-V driving through a changing landscape on a loop road. It looks great, but at first does not appear to be very different from a standard car advert.

The twist is that the road is on an infinity loop and that the light and weather conditions change with the time of day or night. That means that what people see when they view the advert depends on what time of the day or night they are watching the video. Viewed at night people see the CR-V with lights on traveling through a dark landscape, at noon the sun is high in the sky and the lights are off.

It is a simple and neat twist, which is bringing people back to view the advert multiple times. The advert is proving to be an effective way to improve brand awareness and subconscious recognition of the Honda brand.

Naturally, the advert is designed primarily to boost sales of new Hondas, in particular the CR-V, but it is having a trickle down effect on the used car market. There is some evidence from second hand car dealers that more people are interesting in buying a used Honda in Dundee and in many other parts of the UK.

They have seen the ad and read about it, which has put Honda cars firmly at the forefront of buyer's minds. This kind of advertising has the effect of grabbing the attention of the public and raising general brand awareness, which is why firms try to achieve the viral effect that Honda has with their new advertising campaign.

Producing the advert was complex and time consuming. The first step was to recreate a piece of a loop road in South Dakota, US. This was done by building a model at Shepperton Studios in the UK. In total, the team made 126 different versions before they were happy.

The model gave the film crew 24/7 access to the road, which allowed them to create the different light and weather conditions needed to make the video. The process was painstaking, but the results have already been well received and it already looks like this will turn out to be one of Honda's most successful advertising campaigns.

Honda Expects Their F1 Return to Have a Positive Impact on Their Road Cars

The Honda development team’s decision to return to F1 is part of the firm’s plan to develop more advanced road cars.

Dundee, Angus -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/25/2015 -- During a media interview with the Australian media,Yasuhira Arai, who is the Honda Motorsport boss told Drive that F1 is being used as a way to carry out long-term experiments. This is expected to help the firm to develop new technologies for use in their road cars. He pointed out that the firm's current hybrid road car engines were developed as a direct result of the technology used in F1.

The engine in the new F1 car already contains technology that is expected to be adapted and used in road cars at some point in the future. At the moment, the engine is proving problematic, but those problems will be solved quickly allowing Honda to compete effectively in 2015.

This year's Honda F1 engine is a 1.6-litre turbo V6. It is believed to be the most compact and lightweight engine in the field.

Once the issues have been solved, an engine like this could easily be fitted to the firm's road cars providing consumers with more space as well as further fuel savings. The ultra high-pressure injection system is also a feature of the F1 engine that could quickly find its way into road cars.

Naturally, the new Jazz, which Honda released at the Geneva Motor show in March, does not feature any of this new F1 tech, but it does feature new fuel technology that provides improved efficiency.

The new Jazz does not become available until the summer, but buyers have already shown a lot of interest. It is expected that many current Jazz owners will trade in their existing cars for the new model. This will have the knock on effect of making it far easier to buy a used Honda in Dundee and in other parts of the UK.

Currently, demand for used cars is coming close to outstripping availability. This is because British consumers once again have the confidence to make big purchases and are buying used cars in huge numbers. In the last quarter of 2014, there were records sales of used cars, with 1.92 million cars being sold. The last time used car sales reached those levels was 2006. The used car market needs new models to be released to generate trade ins, which in turn makes more used cars available to feed the market.
