St Austell, Cornwall -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/01/2015 -- Honda has beaten other manufacturers to be crowned the UK's top manufacturer when it comes to the reliability of its second-hand vehicles.

The latest study from What Car? Has found that of the top 37 car manufacturers selling their vehicles in the UK, Japanese firm Honda builds the most reliable vehicles, which continue to offer mile after mile of uninterrupted motoring to drivers nationwide.

The study covered vehicles aged between three and eight years, with Honda being joined in the top five by Suzuki and Toyota - both of which also hail from Japan.

European and American manufacturers were not entirely left out in the reliability rankings, with Ford, Peugeot and Fiat all managing to secure a place amongst the top ten most reliable used-car manufacturers. But worryingly for those who have a bit more cash to spend on a second-hand vehicle, lots of the luxury brands did not manage to match their cheaper rivals.

Both Bentley and Porsche were found at the bottom of this latest reliability league table, showing that the prestige of the brand and the amount you spend on a second-hand car will not have anything to do with how long it will last before a breakdown occurs.

St Austell, Cornwall -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/31/2015 -- The automotive market on the Continent is finally beginning to catch up with the UK's success, with February's sales surging by 8% year on year. However, Volkswagen is way ahead of the market, gaining 12% year on year to reach nearly 120,000 unit sales.

While Renault is also doing well in second place with year-on-year growth of 15%, Ford was Europe's third-best-selling brand in February, Peugeot was fourth and Vauxhall-Opel was fifth. BMW was further down the list at number eight but boasting year-on-year year growth of 15%, followed by Mercedes in ninth with 12%.

However, Volkswagen sold nearly twice as many units this February as runner-up Renault. It sold 118,781, compared to 69,617. VW took the top two best-selling model spots too, with the ever-popular Golf first and Polo second, but the larger Passat was the star performer in February, rising to eighth place - its highest position since August 2012 - and with sales of 15,711 units. That's an increase of 64% year on year. The Passat was also recently voted 2015's European Car of the Year in the prestigious industry awards.
