Keighley, Yorkshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/13/2010 -- The Merrall Spinning Co. originally owned Ebor Mill and with it Lees Mill in Haworth and other mills in the nearby village of Oxenhope. In 1885 Lees Mill suffered a terrible fire resulting in its complete destruction. Undeterred by the event the Merrall Company took the opportunity to rebuild Lees Mill and at the same time extensively enlarge Ebor Mill by providing a multi story building of approximately 47,000 sq/ft. With its numerous sites the Merrall Spinning Co. became one of the largest and most successful Worsted Manufactures in the country.

Airedale Springs Ltd http://www.airedalesprings.co.uk bought Ebor Mill and most of the surrounding buildings and land in 1988 and has been privileged to be the custodian of this historic landmark until the terrible events of the 14th August.

Airedale Springs used 3 floors of the main building as its main production facility. On the same site, but not directly effected by the fire is our office block, the original Ebor Mill built in 1819.

Airedale Springs would like to thank local companies for their support during this difficult period. We would also like to thank and pay tribute to our staff. They have been un-waving in their eagerness to support our efforts in maintaining supplies to our customers. Despite the challenges of working in unfamiliar situations and with strange equipment they have without complaint done a fantastic job. Our offices are now in full operation with all communication links restored. We are renovating parts of the building and it will shortly be equipped with temporary production facilities.

We are eagerly awaiting the delivery of new CNC production equipment in late October when we shall be in a position to better fulfill the requirements of our customers. Through the excellent service and good reputation the Company has built over the years, many customers have stuck with us and we are very grateful for their support.

As time progresses the Company will continue to develop its manufacturing facility and we look forward to the completion of a new factory in due course. After a slow start, one product is now gaining some success. This is the Interflush which is water saving device that allows users to control the amount of water used to flush their toilets. The device has featured in the Yorkshire Post Business News (01/07/2010), was nominated for an Environmental Award (21/02/2009) in the same Newspaper, and has also featured on Look North and Calendar News Programs. The inventor - David Wilkes and his Company Varyflush also tried to promote his idea on the BBC's Dragons Den but was unsuccessful.

The product is a "retro fit" device for existing toilet cisterns, made from Plastic, Stainless Steel and Brass. It includes an Extension Spring and a Compression Spring manufactured from Type 316 Stainless Steel by Airedale Springs Ltd. The device could save up to 20% of the water consumption if introduced across the country, so could prove to be a very important product over the next few years. It has already gained some notable users: The National Portrait Gallery, a Maltese Government department and even Windsor Castle.

The Interflush is a gadget that can be fitted to standard, single flush toilet siphons to control the water used. The typical toilet flush uses more than is needed, but Interflush allows users to stop the flow as soon as all waste has disappeared down the pan.

Working on the principle that a siphon will stop flushing when air is allowed to enter it, Interflush introduces an air valve, which is closed when the flush handle is down, and open when the handle is up. The Spring's operate on the plunger and valve mechanism to ensure the valve opens when the handle is pulled up, thus stopping the water flow.

It is a winner of the Smart award, given by the former Department of Trade and Industry to products or services providing a significant technological advance.

Keighley, Yorkshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/09/2010 -- Airedale Springs Ltd http://www.airedalesprings.co.uk custom Spring Making Making Department recently came to the aid of a Classic Car Restorer who was struggling to find parts for his restoration Project.

The parts were required for a Daimler Dart SP250 (they're actually restoring 2 cars) and formed part of the Hood Clip Assembly. Whilst fully assembled Hood Clips can be purchased the Individual parts are no longer available.

The parts concerned are a Chromium Plated spring wire form and a small Torsion spring. These form the main active part of clip mechanism and without them the clip assembly simply won't work.

We were able to produce a small batch of each of the parts so that broken wire forms or Springs can now be replaced without having to purchase fully assembled Hood Clip.

As a consequence these parts are now available to restorers via e-bay for other restorer to purchase

Keighley, Yorkshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/18/2010 -- Airedale Springs http://www.airedalesprings.co.uk sent four representatives to the exhibition with a view to assessing the latest developments in the wire forming and coiling industry.

All the major machinery manufacturers were well represented and this was an excellent opportunity to compare the various types of machines together under one very large roof.

Airedale Springs has always invested in the latest technology and we were keen to maintain this trend even under difficult trading circumstances.

We were not just looking at equipment for the production of wire forms and springs but ancillary equipment to improve quality and reduce set up times. We were particularly interested in a special tool grinder to regrind special forming tools for equipment we already possess. This equipment would improve the quality of tools and the consistency of the finished product.

We are currently assessing a number of other machines and future press releases will reveal our decisions.

The 15th of April was an interesting day, not because of what was happening at the show but in Iceland. Our representatives were due to fly home on the 15th. Arriving home two days late was a frustrating end to an otherwise excellent show.

However it was not until a further 4 employees reached 25 years service in 1973 was it decided to have a special dinner to commemorate the occasion.

Over the years a total of 37 employees have achieved this milestone.

Currently Airedale Springs Ltd has 45 employees, 16 of whom are members of the club.

The event is marked by a dinner for all the surviving members with the new member as the guest of honour. As a memento of the occasion each new member is awarded with a gift of £250 to do with what they will, only one member used it to buy a clock! They also get to choose the venue for the dinner, as long as it's not too far away.

We are pleased to announce that after a gap of 5 years since the last addition two more employees join this exclusive club this year.

Tracy Metcalfe (Customer Services) who works in the Customer Services team actually joined the company 26 years ago as an YTS trainee. She must have liked it or we liked her as on finishing her training she became a full time member of staff on the 16th July 1984. Tracy is a key member of the team and has a wealth of knowledge gained from years of experience of dealing with customers requirements.

Sean Parkinson (Commercial Director) joined the Company on the 3rd September 1984 after studying at the local technical collage and has worked in numerous departments before becoming our Commercial Director and Company Secretary.

It is not untypical that joint events are held and this time is no exception. To celebrate their achievement a dinner will be held on the evening of the 4th September 2009 to mark this special event.
