The Stat Gun is used in lieu of a regular blow gun in either the compressed air or nitrogen line. As with any new technology at that time, there were certain challenges that needed to be addressed, namely: pressure, volume of air, filtration, temperature and compressed air quality.

Over the years and the addition of a variety of additional technologies including high performance compressors, dryers and filtration systems, the industry developed a standard for clean compressed air for spray painting of automotive, aeronautical and industrial components. With the demand of higher quality cosmetic finishes of painted products came the need for higher quality spray guns and compressed air (propellant).
