In the current scenario, contradictory to current belief that most companies are not hiring, 51% of the total respondents said that hiring was not frozen in their companies.

Dubai, UAE -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/17/2009 -- A survey of over 140 recruiters across GCC countries, revealed a positive hiring sentiment among recruiters. 48% asserted that in the next six months new jobs will be created, 26% said that replacement hiring will happen, 22% said that there would be no hiring while 4% indicated layoffs.

In the current scenario, contradictory to current belief that most companies are not hiring, 51% of the total respondents said that hiring was not frozen in their companies.

On controlling costs, 35% said that they have cut increment and bonuses. About 35% recruiters also pointed out that they will lay off poor performing employees.

A sectoral analysis revealed a more positive situation in Construction and IT industries, while Oil and Gas was comparatively dismal. Over 50% of the recruiters across these industries expect creation of new jobs. Oil and Gas industry indicated continued layoffs with 14% recruiters hinting layoffs in the next six months, as compared to 3% in Construction and 6% in IT industry.

Respondents were from industries including Construction, IT, Oil & Gas, Telecom, Hospitality, Retail & Banking, Automobiles, Pharma, Hotels, Marketing and Dotcom.
