Manual Handling Solutions Manufacturer Inspiring Growth

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/03/2015 -- One UK manufacturer of materials and manual handling solutions is pioneering their business growth by developing individual self awareness to improve communication and performance.

Advanced Handling, exhibiting at the Safety & Health Expo, London, ExCel, 16-18 June 2015, invited a motivational speaker into their manufacturing facility, to talk to the whole company about individual performance and the impact positive focus has on communication and overall performance.

The established manual handling lifting equipment manufacturer implemented a lean manufacturing culture within the business over two years ago. Aside from developing existing solutions and new equipment the company has been heavily investing in their core internal business; their people.

The results during this cultural development period have proven successful as Advanced Handling's Managing Director, Mike Prince explained; "Traditionally in our business manufacturing was about engineering a solution and building it; we would provide a solution for the load. Today we design and manufacture handling solutions for the individuals operating and working with them."

Advanced Handling has developed internal processes and invested in employees to support the integration of new product ranges. At the end of 2012 Advanced Handling introduced a range of ergonomic and lighter capacity handling solutions, to complement their core range of stackers, scissor lift tables and mezzanine goods lifts. The PRONOMIC lifting trolleys and Movomech overhead lifting solutions offer the opportunity for individual operator control and quality, with the precision and support from a machine.

"Our internal changes at Advanced Handling have encouraged greater flexibility to support the changing needs of our customers." Michael Prince continued.

Motivational Boost for UK Materials Handling Manufacturer

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/20/2015 -- At the recent biannual company conference, UK materials handling manufacturer Advanced Handling celebrated business performance growth and were joined by UK motivational speaker, Steve Head.

Advanced Handling, located near Peterborough, has experienced strong growth since becoming a division of the Swedish owned Sunnex Group two years ago. With an updated range of lifting equipment solutions and services, the materials handling manufacturer has focused on their internal development to support future expansion.

UK motivational speaker Steve Head presented a highly energetic and engaging talk highlighting three things that make a great place to work: 1) Trust; 2) Pride in what you do; 3) Camaraderie, friendship and support. Steve Head highlighted when working within a smaller business each individual has a greater responsibility; and summarised by encouraging a clear focus on positive personal and professional experiences and achievements. The conference continued with a customer centric workshop in the afternoon for all customer facing teams.

Advanced Handling updated their core values in spring 2013 to enhance engagement and communication within and across all departments from senior management to the factory floor. "At each company conference we have highlighted one area within our core values and this meeting we concentrated on team work." Mike Prince, Managing Director of Advanced Handling explained further why this internal focus was a priority at this conference; "During expansion there are adjustments, new processes and new people, and myself and the senior management team believe it is very important we encourage everyone here [at Advanced Handling] to work together and keep talking to each other as a recipe for our successful business."

In 2013 Advanced Handling introduced Lean Manufacturing. Traditionally designed for manufacturing environments and processes, the core elements of Lean Manufacturing were implemented by the office and administration departments too. Commercial Director Liz Middleton commented; "We introduced a new culture which everyone has embraced within the factory and the office departments, and as a result the level of awareness of each other's working area has increased. The results have shown us further improvements in the quality of manufacturing, stock management, productivity and improved communication."

With reported Sales Orders twenty four per cent above budget, Mike Prince concluded; "Through times of growth, working together and adapting to change are the key factors which will help us continue to grow."

Rise of Material Handling Equipment

London, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/27/2015 -- Material handling equipment has become more important for manufacturing operations and line managers, according to a recent report produced by Future Market Insights (FMI).

The FMI report entitled 'Material Handling Equipment Market: Global Industry Analysis and Opportunity Assessment 2014 – 2020', noted the industries most effected by the use of material handling equipment currently include agricultural, automotive, air cargo, aerospace and building and construction, amongst others.

It was reported the effective use of materials handling equipment was not only beneficial to improving health and safety aspects in the workplace, but also helps to improve productivity as it increases fast and efficient movement of products and materials, resulting in greater flexibility within the warehouse and operational areas.

Advanced Handling UK manufacturers of materials handling equipment and solutions commented on the future changes; "Towards the end of 2014 we heard a lot about the shift towards a focus on productivity. This emerging trend moving away from old patterns of increasing or decreasing staff to meet demand is instead focusing on how human and machine can work together to increase. Over the last four decades our [Advanced Handling] customers have experienced more efficient handling processes with improved productivity and safety when they have invested and implemented handling solutions within their operations," commented Advanced Handling's Managing Director, Mike Prince.

"Full automation within some sectors and operations isn't productive. We have customers where we know the human interaction during their manufacturing and production process is vital to the quality of the end product," Mike Prince continued. "Integration of materials handling equipment and automated lines is happening and we, like other manufacturers of these solutions are adapting so we can continue to support UK businesses."

The FMI report indicates increasing automation and focus on productivity with a future outlook of integration with electronic intelligence and material handling equipment expected to change the global material handling equipment market during next five to six years. The report noted that amongst the highest supporters and users of materials handling technology to increase productivity and conditions in the relevant industries include North America, Japan, China and Western Europe.

Helping to Solve Materials Handling Issues at the Health and Safety Event 2015

London, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/23/2015 -- UK materials handling manufacturer, Advanced Handling recently exhibited at the Health and Safety Event to meet with visitors, listen to their materials handling challenges and demonstrate a range of solutions including height adjustable scissor lift tables, overhead vacuum lifting and their mobile lightweight lifting trolleys.

A popular materials handling theme at the exhibition, as experienced by Advanced Handling, was around handling reels and rolls more effectively and handling drums or cylindrical loads. These tasks are extremely prevalent in manufacturing operations where rolls of material, protective film, packaging or drums are involved for example in healthcare supplies, food and drink manufacturing to commercial printing.

"One of the challenging aspects of reel handling is often picking up the reel from the pallet when they are stood vertically as there are few standard tools that can access the reel from this position," explained PRONOMIC Product Manager, Rebecca Dilloway-Jones.

Ergonomic pieces of lifting equipment offer a solution for the lifting and handling of the reels and drums and also benefit the operator in the process. The PRONOMIC P Model which is a highly configurable and adaptable unit was on display at the exhibition demonstrating handling drums using Squeeze&Turn technology.

For visitors the unit offered inspiration to solve their handling issues as Rebecca continued to explain; "We [Advanced Handling] have experienced at previous exhibitions and during on site customer demonstrations that visitors and customers are drawn to the PRONOMIC unit and they want to test the lightweight frame and the range of manipulation and lifting tools available inspires solutions for other handling issues."

Whilst not on display, however using the same technology, the PRONOMIC Expand&Turn offers a solution for reel handling that grips reels from within the core. The lifting device operates with a pneumatic expander which intelligently senses when the reel is secure. The reel can then be manoeuvred and rotated using a joystick control and lifted and lowered using a push button hand controller. Both the Squeeze&Turn and Expand&Turn work together with the PRONOMIC P Model and have a maximum load capacity of 110kg.
