Is Immigration the Answer to Better Job Skill Matches? Garth Coates Comments

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/25/2016 -- A recent survey suggests that a significant issue facing British businesses is that the candidates they have available struggle to fulfil all the requirements of skilled job roles. One way of increasing the variety and possible suitability of candidates in recent years, however, has been through immigration: a key example that it can be a process and force for good. The Easyjet survey in question revealed that for companies with over 20 employees, one of the biggest issues faced is in terms of employee recruitment and retention – and therefore immigration has played an important role in allowing for greater possible suitability.

In sectors including medicine, computing and nursing, immigrants have had significant involvement over the years, providing the necessary skill-sets. In turn, there have been calls for increased positive recognition to be given to this – as a number of people who choose to locate from overseas to the UK do so because they have skilled knowledge and experience which they can apply to their advantage in the workplace.

The survey also emphasized that out of a number of EU countries, the UK had one of the highest talent mismatches between skills required and candidates suitable to fill them. This could be considered an ongoing problem, and hence why continued, well-managed immigration could be seen as important. Keen to comment on this was Garth Coates Solicitors, an expert in immigration and nationality law:

"Immigration plays an important role in stimulating the British jobs market and providing workers who are highly suited to professional roles; an aspect which deserves to be recognised. We support a number of applications for skilled work in the UK and strive to continue with a professional, productive service."

The Current Tier 2 Visa Scheme Comes Under Rising Criticism: Garth Coates Comments

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/17/2015 -- A number of public individuals have raised the concern regarding changes to the Tier 2 visa scheme changes, which were implemented on 29th October 2015. The Tier 2 VISA scheme is focused on the entrance of skilled workers – which can include medical professionals, technicians and teachers. The changes have included additional financial considerations which mean that many skilled workers from overseas have been potentially dissuaded from bringing their services to Britain. Critics argue that this has come at a great loss (financial and in terms of services) to the public sector and is not constructive.

According to The Office for National Statistics, skilled workers (those who enter on the Tier 2 scheme) make up about 7.5% of the UK's immigration intake. The resultant of changes to Tier 2 has in effect made it harder for people to enter in this way – but even if numbers decline, it is from a small percentage, so only making a limited difference to the UK net migration overall. Critics argue that Tier 2 is the wrong area to target with harsh restrictions and is actually depriving the UK of skilled workers who make a positive contribution to the economy.

Garth Coates is a key example of an immigration law specialist, providing extensive advice to those concerned about the Tier 2 changes. A spokesperson had this to say:

"The Tier 2 changes involve a number of components – and it is important that applicants understand the whole of this, as well as British employees and businesses taking on these skilled workers. When Tier 2 immigration is well-handled and compassionately considered, people shouldn't have to feel at a position of loss."

Calls to Recognise the £3 Billion Contribution of Overseas Students: Garth Coates Comments

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/17/2015 -- A recent report released through Imperial College London emphasizes the significant contribution overseas students make to Britain and the economy. This has led to rising calls for overseas students to be more positively received and championed for their contribution to London's aspiring status of the education capital of the world. According to the report, London attracts 100,000 international students annually; and they also support 37,000 jobs – often in highly skilled roles. This emphasises, again, the potential positives brought by overseas students.

This positive news follows on from months of criticism of immigration processes, with some people calling for limits across immigration areas – including students. The recent results show the importance of considering the contributions individuals can make instead. Overseas students are integral to progress within areas such as science and technology, a point articulated by a senior academic, Professor David Gann CBE at a recent discussion on the subject.

Also keen to comment on the news was immigration and nationality law expert Garth Coates Solicitors – a group of trained solicitors and lawyers. A spokesperson had this to say:

"It is important that the contribution of overseas students gets the positive attention it deserves. The UK offers a great place to study and it matters that the best minds are coming to contribute – from all over the world! This can be seen as something which is highly exciting. Ensuring that firm legal foundations are in place is essential for anyone who desires to study in the UK from overseas and here at Garth Coates we provide full information and support."

Big Attitude Shifts to UK Citizenship Expected: Garth Coates Solicitors Comments

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/18/2015 -- Amidst figures which suggest that successful citizenship applications have been declining, often due to financial pressures, there is set to be encouraged re-evaluation of the citizenship process. According to data released by Oxford University, in 2014 citizenship was awarded to slightly fewer than 126,000 foreign nationals, which reflects a fall of about 40% year-on-year.

These figures of decline have been attributed to a number of factors. It is estimated that although current interest in achieving citizenship is high and an interest of many people, they often feel threatened by the prospect of high costs. The amount of paperwork and time-consuming nature of the process is also off-putting to some. However, as the figures have now been released and the issue is now in the public sphere, it is expected that measures will be taken to address these concerns.

Applying for citizenship can be an important process allowing for integration. Quick to reflect on this were Garth Coates Solicitors, experts in immigration and nationality law. They have extensive experience in the field and are frequent commentators on industry news. A spokesperson had this to say:

About US:
"That there have been falls in the number of people attaining citizenship needs to be considered. Rather than seeing this as a natural decline, it is important to address the issues which may be preventing people from applying. After all, citizenship is an important status and allows people to bring other aspects to the UK – such as business and investment. We hope that others will too work for a more positive faces on the process, allowing for healthy levels of citizenship application and a streamlined, productive process. We do this by providing a professional service at affordable rates."

Jamie Oliver Emphasizes the Value Skilled Immigrant Workers Bring: Garth Coates Solicitors Comment

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/20/2015 -- Leading UK immigration law firm, Garth Coates Solicitors, have recently commented on Jamie Oliver's statement, in which he says his businesses greatly benefit from the skilled immigrants who contribute to an impressive UK workforce.

The highly popular TV chef believes that foreign labour brings big advantages, with the right skills sometimes only available from people outside of the country. He believes hospitals, restaurants, and other skill-based industries are the main places which would be impacted if immigration was culled, and even mentioned his own businesses would be at a loss if there was no immigration taking place. He celebrates the talents and achievements of individuals – and this can be brought from all over the world.

Often commenting on industry related news, a spokesperson for Garth Coates Solicitors said, 'Immigration is a key part of what helps countries operate successfully, and it can bring diversity, and skills that the country would be lacking otherwise.

At Garth Coates Solicitors we realise the importance of immigration and how it can help support our country. We offer a range of services to help people contribute to the country and make a new life for themselves, and our team can support those looking to move into the UK each step of the way.'

Reports Reveal Immigration Is Key to Maintaining UK Technology Boom

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/15/2015 -- Immigration solicitors, Garth Coates Solicitors, have recently commented on a report which revealed how immigration is essential for keeping the UK technology industry thriving.

The Gibbs 3 assessment of business in the UK has determined that while technology is booming in the country, the companies involved within the industry are struggling to find the right employees with the right skill sets. In fact, the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), has reported that 40% of companies searching for employees with STEM based skills are struggling to find the right people.

Immigration has been considered as an answer to this employment gap, with 38% of immigrants within the UK having degrees, in comparison to 18% of UK born workers. It's believed that immigration can help contribute to the success of UK industries, which will keep employment levels from dropping, causing a positive impact to technological advancements.

Often commenting on industry news, a spokesperson for Garth Coates Solicitors said, 'Immigration is important for the UK, and this report reveals why. The right skill sets are hard to come by, and there are a great deal of people outside of the UK who can create a positive impact for our country, be it technology or science.

It can be hard getting to the UK though, and a lot of legal aid is required to make sure you are aware of all the forms, requirements and rules. At Garth Coates Solicitors, we can help inform and help those looking to make it in the UK, and we will be with you every step of the way.'

Landlords May Have to Evict Failed Asylum Seekers or Face Jail

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/11/2015 -- A new bill being proposed in Parliament seeks to enforce stringent guidelines on landlords regarding illegal immigration. A new bill could see repeat offenders face jail for up to 5 years if they do not evict failed asylum seekers. The newly proposed legislation comes following the recent media attention regarding migrants in Europe. And with immigration being a hot topic in the recent general election, it appears that the new suggestion may polarise opinion. Many will welcome the strict rules as an effective control on immigration whilst others will be conscious of the guilt in contributing to an already precarious situation for vulnerable individuals.

The implications of the news could potentially be the merging of distinct legal fields, such as property and immigration law which have traditionally been kept separate. Now it appears that landlords will have to brush up on their immigration legal knowledge ahead of the changes. The new rules require landlords to carry out extensive investigation into a migrant's status, and to maintain the freshness of their records by keeping their knowledge of their status updated.

About Garth Coates
Garth Coates are leaders in the field of immigration, nationality and citizenship law. They were eager to comment on the latest developments, as regular commentators on the turbulent and changing field of immigration. A spokesperson said, 'The proposed changes could be massive. Obviously, this will totally alter the way in which landlords function and carry out their practice. They will now require extensive knowledge in understanding migration statuses, and what constitutes a breach of law when it comes to asylum seekers and tenancies. In this case it is crucial to know your rights, and what you can do to protect your position. This applies to asylum seekers as well as landlords. Our team of legal specialists are experts and have seen the field of immigration change and alter over the years. Through careful practice they have learnt how to adapt and stay ahead.'

The Airport Immigration Officers of the Future: Robots

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/17/2015 -- New biometric robots could be the future of airport immigration, scanning passports and passenger's boarding passes as well as recording their face and iris. The invention was revealed at the Paris Air Show and is an innovation which is already making its way into some airports. There are also plans to incorporate 300 behavioral warning signals into some forms of the robot, although it is unclear how these will function in practice.

With immigration laws becoming more stringent under current government regulations, some have concerns about how safe the robots will be in preventing unsolicited entrance into the UK. However, the developers have reassured people that they have been implemented with great success in many places with no fuss or serious controversy. People seeking to relocate or move country are curious to know whether this will affect their ability to migrate.

About Garth Coates
Garth Coates are leading immigration specialists and have a wealth of experience in the field having been established for a number of years with an exceptionally talented and devoted team of solicitors and a solid base of loyal clients. They are also regular commentators on news relevant to their industry and a spokesperson had this to say, 'We think that the developments are extremely exciting. Obviously, this means we are moving towards a more efficient and less bureaucratic way of moving around the world. We would advise people not to be worried too much about what this means for their chance to move to the UK, as right now this change has not been implemented here, and even if it is, it is quite a cosmetic alteration and won't change the actual procedure significantly. If you have any concerns about your immigration process and procedure, and would like some assistance or support in this matter, please feel free to approach us.'

Obtaining Citizenship at Lowest Level Since 2002: Garth Coates Reflect

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/01/2015 -- Recent official data analysed by Oxford University has shown that the number of foreigners obtaining British Citizenship is at its lowest level since 2002, a significant fall. Just below 126,000 foreign nationals were awarded citizenship in 2012, signifying a fall of 40% year on year. This means that fewer foreign nationals have been entitled to a foreign passport.

The causes for the figures are potentially multiple. Firstly, the figures may represent that fewer people perhaps applied for citizenship in the period. Also significant is that legislation has tightened since 2002 and there are potentially more stages in the process which can appear complicated and difficult to negotiate.

Other terms which are discussed as part of citizenship include 'naturalisation'; as individuals who have been living in the UK for five years or more with no limit on their stay are potentially entitled to applying for citizenship by naturalisation.
About Garth Coates
"That fewer foreign nationals have been awarded citizenship appears to be an increasing trend," A spokesperson said "Yet British citizenship can be integral part of integration and can allow you to live and work without being subject to controls and restrictions. It is a lengthy process which requires sensitive management and a number of constructive processes and requirements also; including a test of good character.

In turn, it is essential that when applying for citizenship, that the individual seeks the support of qualified immigration specialist, we provide an extensive service to ensure that applications for citizenship continue to be a supported and healthy process of integration. That is why it is essential that people have a forward-facing approach regarding their citizenship status and feel that they have the support they need."

Garth Coates Comments: Do 2014 Figures Show the Highest Levels of Immigration to Date?

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/23/2015 -- Recent figures speculated by the home office highlight a significant rise in immigration levels over the course of 2014 when compared to 2013. For example, it was approximated that 641, 0000 immigrants entered the UK in 2014, believed to be the highest ever annual figure. This has led to much comment and reflection from specialists within Immigration law, including Garth Coates.

Furthermore, the figures show that this increase in immigration may have a significant relationship with working and employment. Whilst 70,000 people immigrated into the UK for work in 2013, in 2014, 284,000 entered for the same reason. This significant rise in immigration for work could be seen as a considerable gain for the UK economy and an increasingly diversified and skilled workforce.

"The statistics suggest that much of the increase in immigration is concerned with work opportunities," a spokesperson told us "As the UK sees many skilled migrants and students coming to the UK to share their knowledge base and apply their area of specialisation. In turn, it is essential that all those who are entering the UK, whether for employment or otherwise, do so with the appropriate visa. For example, this can include a visa for skilled workers, and the tier of visa ultimately approximates to reasons for entry. Therefore, knowing and keeping aware of the most up-to-date legal information within immigration is important.

In turn, it is ultimately essential that all legal implications are sorted, in order to add to the positives immigration can bring. Thus whether you are an immigrant yourself or have a family member or employee ina situation where they want legal advice regarding their immigration status, it is always best to seek the advice of a professional. We are always prepared to offer comprehensive immigration advice and hope that other solicitors follow suit."

Pro-Immigration Poster Campaign Launched, Garth Coates Solicitors Responds

London, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/23/2015 -- UK immigration solicitors, Garth Coates Solicitors, recently commented on the new pro-immigration poster campaign launched across the UK and the impact it'll have in the upcoming elections.

The pro-immigration campaign consists of a number of posters spread across the UK, with different immigrants on each poster explaining how they've contributed to the country. The messages are positive and have fire fighters, doctors and bus drivers with what they're doing for our country, along with their country of origin. The campaign aims to paint a positive picture on how immigration has benefited the country, rather than caused issues.

Movement Against Xenophobia have initiated the campaign and managed to get the funding via a crowd funding appeal, and the photos have been taken by Vogue photographer Phillip Volkers.

The photos are being placed in 400 London tube stations, 550 national real stations and on billboards throughout the countryside. This is possible thanks to the £44,000 raised.

CEO of JCWI, Habib Rahman, said, 'The extraordinary support we have received from ordinary people shows how fed up many are with the hostility and scapegoating experienced by immigrants. Thousands are saying they reject intolerance and want to celebrate our diverse and inclusive society.'

The campaign pushes that Britain only exists as it does today through the contributions of immigrants over the course of history and will continue to do so, making for a diverse and forward thinking country.

Often commenting on industry news, a spokesperson for Garth Coates Solicitors said, 'This new campaign just shows how positive immigration is to the UK, and we hope to see this continue to be so, as we aid people get into the company with our range of legal services. People from across the world can contribute positively to all manner of industries and societies, which is why we work so hard at giving out clients the best service possible.'
