Third of UK Workers Fear Health Risks at Work: The Accident Team Comments

Doncaster, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/25/2015 -- A third of UK workers are worried about illnesses they may suffer as a result of their work, according to a Labour Force survey by HSE. 1,755 people were involved in the study, which incorporated a variety of ages and genders. A significant majority expressed that they were worried about health issues such as back and neck injury caused by prolonged periods of time at a desk.

The survey, which highlights the fear, and actual risk, of injury in the workplace goes on to indicate that people age 45+ are most at risk of work-related stresses and strains, suggesting, therefore, that many older adults in established job roles are struggling with work-related injury.

The Accident Team, a group of qualified experts specialising in personal injury has been quick to respond to the report, saying:"The survey results emphasize a need for responsive action to be taken. Employees shouldn't have to worry about their safety at work. Employers need to make sure that work environments meet health and safety standards so that workers feel, and are, secure. They should ensure that the correct safety and protective equipment (PPE) is available and that people are properly trained to use it. All workers should of course make sure that they use the PPE provided.

As the survey suggests, it isn't just jobs in the industrial sector that can have an effect on people's health; illnesses caused administrative roles in the service sector and other office environments, such as call centres for example, are on the increase.

If people do become ill as a result of their work, they should take action as soon as possible; not only seeking medical help, but also contacting a lawyer who specialises in work place accidents and illnesses to see if compensation can be claimed."

Recent Statistics Reveal That Around 629,000 Workers Were Reported as Being Involved in an Accident at Work in 2013-2014; the Accident Team Comments

Doncaster, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/09/2015 -- Statistics released by The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) showed that of 629,000 accident cases, 203,000 led to people needing at least 3 days' off work and 148,000 led to over 7 days absence from work.

During the Same period, there was 139 fatalities, primarily due to falling from height, moving machinery or collision with a moving vehicle.

Manual handling was responsible for a large portion of major accidents that resulted in over 7 day's absence from work.

Slips, trips and falls, which might be considered minor incidents, actually accounted for 35% of all reported accidents in the workplace, with 29% of these cases resulting in 7 or more days absence from work. The combination of manual handling and slips, trips and falls were responsible for over 1.9 million working days being lost last year alone.

The Accident Team are experts regarding personal injury law as well as frequent commentators upon legal news and events. They were quick to reflect in light of revealed statistics.

"That there have been 629,000 accident cases in the workplace between 2013-2014 will be potentially shocking statistics for many," A spokesperson said "After all, a workplace should be a place of safety and security – yet these results seem to reflect that this has been otherwise in a number of places. That is why it is so important, both as an employer and an employee, that you are fullyaware and up-to-date with all the appropriate health and safety regulations. We are passionate about getting people the justice and safety they deserve in the workplace and in light of these statistics, hope that others are also."

Increase in Injuries on the Roads? The Accident Team Comment

Doncaster, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/05/2015 -- A recent report from a popular newspaper has brought attention to some significant statistics regarding road traffic accidents and injury. Entering 2015, it has been reported that there has been up to a four per cent increase in fatalities and serious injuries on the UK roads. Factors attributed to the increase in serious injury included drivers being distracted by technology such as mobile phones.Using a phone whilst driving is illegal but gadgets and technology can still cause distraction when driving, even if they are not using them directly.

The correlation between distraction by technology and increased road-related injuries seemingly supports the suggestion that poor concentration is the primary cause of road accidents. And in the UK,the leading cause of death of those aged 15-29 years is road traffic accidents. Poor concentration, for any reason, means that people run the risk of causing injury through negligence – not paying full attention to their role as driver – thus putting themselves and others at risk.

Footage for Car Accident Claims: The Accident Team Comments

Doncaster, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/27/2015 -- A recent survey of 29 top motor insurers has revealed that when dealing with claims, especially regarding traffic accidents, they will now accept dashcam footage as supporting evidence. A dashcam is a camera that can be installed on the dashboard of the car and films the driver's view. It is a tool that can provide security for many drivers, as it can film car journeys, not only for reference, but also as evidence regarding the circumstances of accidents.

Using dashcams as recording and safety tools has proved extremely popular, with sales increasing by 918% in the last year. The Accident Team lawyers are experts in personal injury claims and represent many clients involved in road traffic accidents. They were quick to comment in light of the survey.

A spokesperson told us: "Accepting dashcam footage as potential evidence in a claim is an important development. However, what is ultimately essential, whether you have a dashcam or not, is that you opt for an experienced, knowledgeable and fully supportive legal service when making a road traffic accident claim. Although a dashcam is one way of providing evidence, it is important that you are aware of all your options, as evidence can be gathered in a number or ways. We hope the news is reassuring for those who do have dashcams, but not seen as a barrier to those who don't.

If you've been injured in a road traffic accident you are entitled to justice, whether it was recorded on a dashcam or not, and that is where we come in. Our dedicated road traffic accident specialists here at The Accident Team are waiting to help you, so get in touch now. We will make sure sure you get the compensation you deserve. "

86% of Fleets Have Experienced Accidents in the Last 12 Months: The Accident Team Respond

Doncaster, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/23/2015 -- According to recent figures released by the Drive and Survive Division of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, 86% of fleets (business cars, hire cars, company cars etc.) have experienced an accident in the last 12 months.

The report noted that many business owners do not have "sufficient measures in place to reduce the risk of incidents happening, or more worringly, happening again to the same drivers."

Of those that were surveyed, more than 70% of employees who drove for business reasons had been given no training at all in handling their vehicle and over 50% involved in an accident had been offered no post-incident training in an effort to reduce further risks.

The Accident Team has been quick to comment on the issue:"Whether you have had a traffic accident in a company vehicle or your own, it is essential that you get the legal advice you are entitled to as soon as possible.

"Busy roads during the working week are inevitable, but this does not mean that you have to accept an accident is inevitable.

"The statistics released by The Institute of Advanced Motorists highlight a very high incident rate for accidents involving fleet vehicles, many we anticipate go unclaimed for.

"This should not be the case. If you have been injured in an accident – whether the fault lies another motorist or with an employer for issuing you with a vehicle you are not properly equipped to drive – you should seek expert advice about your case."
