Scottish Renewables, a trade organisation made up of 300 members, has made a demand for heating to be including in the building law for Glasgow, so homes will all have low cost communal heating systems in place. This change would help reduce fuel poverty in the area.

Already cities in the UK such as London, Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool have these rules in place, but Glasgow is currently considered behind the times, and to meet 2020 goals of a more environmentally friendly world, more renewable energy alternatives are necessary. Currently the figure of renewable heat in Scotland is at 3%, with an 11% target set for 2020.
