Global Waste Could End Up Tripling by 2100

People around the world throw astronomical amounts of garbage away each and every day, which leads to a strong possibility for garbage to triple by 2100.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 08/23/2016 -- If changes aren't made soon in how materials are used and reused, there is a good chance that the amount of garbage will end up tripling by the time 2100 rolls around. With landfills being as full as they are now, how are they supposed to hold three times the amount of waste over the next few years? All of the extra waste being produced carries fiscal and physical consequences.

Because of this, something needs to be done now to help reduce and reuse waste. Back in 2010, more than 3.5 million tons of garbage were being produced each day. Experts believe that number is going to rise to six million tons by the time 2025 hits. Taking the waste from the cities today, a full line of filled trash trucks could span 3,107 miles each day. The cost for dealing with all of that trash is rising from $205 billion annually back in 2010 to an expected $375 billion by the time 2025 hits. While some countries will be hit harder than others in terms of total cost, that doesn't make anyone immune to the struggles.

This is why it is so important to do something about all of the waste now, before it has the chance to spiral out of control. The best thing that individuals can do is seeing what items can be recycled from the home. Instead of just throwing everything away, see if it can be reused and made into something new and exciting. It's surprising how many different materials there are out there that can be recycled and reused.

By contacting the local recycling center and finding out what items can be turned into something worthwhile, everyone can do their part to help reduce waste and keep costs down.

Save Time and Minimize Clutter This Summer with a Dumpster Rental

Many people don't realize just how many items can be recycled and put to good use. If more people take the time to separate recyclables from garbage, it could help protect the planet, minimize waste and keep product costs down.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/07/2016 -- Now that the weather is nicer outside, many people are making the decision to clean out clutter and organize their home. One of the best ways to do this is with a dumpster rental. Millions of pounds of garbage are thrown out each year. While much of the garbage ends up in the landfills, that isn't the case with all of it. Many people end up throwing their old items out to the curb and hope it gets picked up by someone in need of the item or their local garbage collector.

Unfortunately, a lot of those items aren't disposed of properly and end up cluttering the landfills. The best thing individuals can do is to go through their items and determine if something is recyclable or not. If it isn't something that can be recycled, it should be thrown out. Otherwise, recyclable items can be taken to the recycling center to prevent throwing out something that could end up being put to use down the road.

When items are recycled, it can help keep the costs of products down and prevent waste. The less waste there is in the world, the better it is going to be overall. This is why it is so important to go through items at least once per year and determine what should be disposed of and what can be kept. There are different dumpster rentals available for different items, so it is important to make sure to rent the dumpster that is going to work the best for the specific situation.

When renting a dumpster, make sure to go over what items are restricted and what items are allowed. At Galaxy Transfer, fuels, televisions, computer monitors, fluorescent bulbs, chemicals, food products, medical waste, oil, pesticides, asbestos or any other type of materials that cannot be identify easily cannot be disposed of in a dumpster. Many items that cannot be put into dumpsters can be recycled.

By going through the items and properly separating them, it can help protect the planet and prevent a bunch of waste from being thrown in places where it doesn't belong.

The Circular Economic Opportunity in the Construction Industry

The construction industry is one of the largest consumers of raw materials worldwide and yet not more than one-third of its wastes are reused or recycled according to the recent report by World Economic Forum. In the United States alone, approximately 40% of solid wastes come from demolition and construction activities.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/26/2016 -- According to Shaping the Future of Construction, a breakthrough in mindset and technology, reusing discarded asphalt materials and waste lumbers: using closed – loop circulation design ideas, is one of the greatest approaches that could shape the future of this sector. Considering the fact that construction plants and other mechanics account for about 40% of carbon emission globally, recycling or reusing products that are discarded provide the best opportunity for the construction industry to minimize global emission and make it more environmentally sustainable.

Besides reducing emission and waste, a company that employs circular economy approaches could reap huge benefits, such as the potential for job creation, innovation and economic development. In fact, a construction company, which can identify closed material loops and embrace circular design methods, it would reduce its dumpster rental cost.

Today, most construction processes are still very fragmented without proper incentives among capital project individuals, creating more than 15% waste volume. For instance, it is projected that about 55% of demolition waste in European countries are still piled on the site, and recycling only occurs in low-volume applications. This is because of little knowledge of the waste materials value and composition. In fact, the utilization of construction waste material is poor.

The construction industry is slower in adjusting to the technological innovation, getting latest equipment and tools, and always cautious of modernizing processes and strategies than other industries. Even though change is seen, it is very slow. Building materials, analytics and other modern technologies are affecting every stage of construction life cycle, although, the adoption is still thin. If construction companies can optimize their planning and construction processes, they can easily end up cutting the cost of dumpster rental by about 15%, and minimizing the completion time by about 30%. Remember, the inter-connectivity of construction materials could lead to closing the lopes for the wider source of solid waste in the modern society.

Find out more about construction industry waste management strategies that are economical and safe today, and reach out to Galaxy Transfer for more information.

Using Dumpster Rentals for Spring Cleaning

Getting Any Home Ready for the Spring Season

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/02/2016 -- Regular cleaning can be bad enough, but when it comes time for spring cleaning it can be even more so. The best thing for anyone to do is make sure that they are fully prepared for what's to come, and that means getting plenty of assistance. With the right tools, anyone is able to keep themselves moving along with the cleaning process and that's the purpose of renting a dumpster. Dumpsters make the process easy because everything that needs to be thrown away can be taken care of immediately. There's no process of putting things off to the side to be thrown out later and there's no need to hold onto things that aren't actually needed. This is important because it's going to prepare any home for the future. EnviroSolutions, Inc. offers a range of dumpsters in different sizes, so anyone can make sure that their home is looking its best for the new season. What makes these dumpsters better than traditional trash cans is that they can hold anything that needs to be gotten rid of. Even if that includes looking to do some construction, there's going to be no trouble getting rid of it. The dumpsters hold anything and everything.

These dumpsters are dropped off for use and picked up, so no one needs to worry about how they're going to get rid of them when the cleaning is done. All that's needed is to get started on any spring cleaning. Starting to go through belongings and getting rid of anything that isn't needed is the first step for anyone. The process improves the look and feel of any home and much faster than any other method as well. For those looking to get some spring cleaning done, making sure a quality dumpster is handy is key. It needs to be large enough for plenty of trash and that means calling Galaxy Transfer is the first step for anyone.
Art for Demolition Dumpsters

Dallas artists impressively dress up demolition dumpsters for an offbeat competition.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/22/2016 -- Dallas' Sanitation Services department new program aims to support local artists in the most unusual way. Going by the name Art for Dumpsters, the programs seeks to award 5 artists with commissions that are to be displayed on the city's recycling containers.

Dallas' Sanitation Services Department's new program aims to support local artists in the most unusual way. Going by the name: Art for Dumpsters, the program seeks to award 5 artists with commissions that are to be displayed on the city's recycling containers.

According to Murray Myers, who manages the city's 'zero waste' department, the program shall take ordinary recycle containers and change them into canvas. Adorning their magnificent new art, the demolition dumpsters shall make their surrounding neighborhoods more aware of the importance of recycling. The dumpsters will also engage people in recycling on the site. This project also enables artists to display their work on the unusual canvas with much visibility.

The main objective is to offer a creative message on the environment and recycling. The project also aims to draw attention to the recycling drop-off sites of the city. Currently, Dallas has over 140 recycling drop-off sites.

A spokesperson for Galaxy Transfer acknowledged and praised the team's efforts and handling of the project. He praised Dallas for multiplying what was happening in other cities. Myers said that recycling and trash containers are normally hidden in basements of buildings, behind screens and in alleys. He added that painting them ensures they blend in so that they do not attract attention. According to him, this project shines a light on the environmental message of stewardship.

DECA (Deep Ellum Community Association) offered great help in making sure that the criteria was established. DECA reinforced the necessity of a prize because it increases participation. One thing is for sure - the prizes aren't shabby. The five finalists shall get $2250 and $250 for supplies. They will paint the demolition dumpsters during the Deep Ellum Arts Festival so that all people can see. One grand prize 'best in show' artist shall win an extra $1500.

Artists can be in teams not exceeding five people or individuals. Myers said that he really hopes that some student groups from DISD can participate. The project will surely change the manner in which people handle dumpsters.

A Dumpster Rental Company to Assist with Spring Cleaning

Students from a US university have come up with special dumpsters on campus to collect ubiquitous take-out boxes and lessen trash.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/18/2016 -- Just as there are student dorms and college football in most university campuses, take-out pizza are part of higher education.

Even though take-out pizza normally feeds hungry students cramming for exams, trash is one side effect of this iconic fast food. Pizza boxes cannot be recycled because of the food and grease matter on the cardboard. Due to their unrecyclable nature, the boxes are thrown into the landfills. Because of this fact, students raised concerns and offered a solution.

In their maiden step, the students repurposed two old metal dumpsters. They painted them with giant pizzas and then placed them outside the college halls of residence. This way, those feasting on the sumptuous doughy delight would throw their empty boxes outside thus ensuring they remained separate from the other garbage.

Currently, the number of dumpsters stands at six, with more underway. According to the student group, they have composted approximately eighteen thousand pizza boxes from their campus. According to them, their biggest challenge is establishing a place to put their pizza dumpsters. A good number of campus buildings and residence halls would prefer to have access to the dumpsters. However, lack of space comes in the way of their desire. To solve the lack of space situation, the president of EnviroSolutions, Inc had this solution to them, "The students need to find a way of providing a string of different bins and dumpsters for cardboard, trash, commingled recycling." According to the head of the company, which also owns Galaxy Transfer, the group should also try to handle various locations through switching out different types and sizes of dumpsters or bins.

Recycling Has Costs but Is Worth It

For local counties, recycling incurs more in expenses than what it produces in revenues. However, recycling produces other benefits than a profit for its operators, meaning that its value cannot be summed up in such a simple manner.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 02/01/2016 -- Although selling recycled materials can help, counties in the state of Virginia know that it cannot make up for all of their recycling costs, particularly now that the scrap market is at a low point. However, the counties in the state of Virginia also know that recycling produces more benefits than the sums fetched for selling recycled materials, meaning that they feel it is still worth their time and effort as well as the taxpayers' money.

For example, recycling means that less waste reaches the landfills, which is important because landfills have limited space. When landfills reach their limit, counties have to either pay to expand them or pay for the use of other landfills as well as the haul trucks need to make the lengthier trips. As a result, the choice of counties in the state of Virginia to continue recycling can actually cost less in the long run by pushing these two expensive solutions further and further into the future.

Likewise, Galaxy Transfer notes that other long-term benefits of recycling include but are not limited to a cleaner environment, a healthier living space, and the conservation of scarce resources. All of which are important considerations for counties, which are responsible for promoting both the health and happiness of their residents.

However, it is important to remember that businesses as well as private consumers have their parts to play as well. After all, all people generate waste through their daily activities, meaning that it is up to all people to make sure that the environment is well-protected by recycling as much as possible. Those who are unsure how this can be done should contact a waste disposal service such as Galaxy Transfer, which can provide them with the knowledge of what to do as well as assistance with actually doing it. Just because recycling tends not to produce a profit for recyclers, it does not mean that recycling is not worth doing.

Galaxy Transfer is positioned to be Northern Virginia's go-to clean up partner for heavy duty post-holiday messes.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/04/2016 -- 'Tis the season for boxes, bags, gifts and new toys to pile up and up until Mom and Dad are left to wonder, "how did we get all of this stuff?". While the holiday season brings so much joy, it also brings a ton of clutter. Just think of all the last minute home improvement projects, clearing out the spare spaces to host overnight guests and cleaning up after the celebrations are all over.
Americans Generate 25 Percent More Waste During the Holiday Season

Past seasons show that Americans generate about 25 percent more waste during the holidays, meaning that Virgina residents should have a plan ready for their post-celebration clean-up.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 01/04/2016 -- According to Stanford University, Americans generate about 25 percent more waste between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve, which amounts to about an additional 25 million tons of waste. As a result, Virginia residents should be prepared to handle their waste rather than run the risk of being caught flat-footed once the celebrations are over.

Galaxy Transfer believes that, in part, this means that Virginia residents should reduce their generation of waste, which will make the post-celebration clean-up both less complicated and less time-consuming. For example, smart gift choices such as concert tickets and other outings can eliminate the need for wrapping paper, which can add up to a surprising amount of waste once all of the gifts have been unwrapped. Likewise, choosing gifts of genuine usefulness to the recipient rather than the latest fads can also reduce the number of items that will end up being tossed into the landfills.

However, Virginia residents should also have plans in place for waste disposal because there is a limit to how much said measures can help, particularly if they have a lot of things that will have to be taken down. For these people, there is a potential solution in the form of waste disposal companies such as Galaxy Transfer, which will provide the dumpsters that they need. Better still, said companies will be the ones responsible for hauling away the holiday waste before making sure that as much of it is disposed of in an eco-friendly manner as possible, thus allowing Virginia residents to enjoy the holiday season to the fullest while also minimizing the stress of the post-celebration clean-up.

Proper Waste Disposal for the Perfect Environment

Proper waste disposal methods should be applied to ensure that the environment is safe and conducive for everyone.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 12/14/2015 -- Waste management within the United States is becoming a big issue to tackle as time goes by. Waste is constantly generated, but the rate at which it is disposed of is at such an alarmingly low rate, that it is raising eyebrows. Municipal and state authorities responsible for the disposal of this waste are having a hard time in handling the ever piling wastes within the states under their jurisdiction.

It is important that the whole community joins hands with the relevant authorities to curb this menace that is becoming uncontrollable. People should appreciate the dangers associated with the lack or improper waste management. It is vital that campaigns are done all in the aim of getting the public enlightened on the dangers associated with waste. Strict laws governing the disposal of waste should be put in place, and the relevant authorities should work hand in hand with other concerned citizens to ensure that these laws are strictly followed and adhered to, those that go against should be severely punished.

The danger of the creeping wastes is such a worrying concern. There are some disposal methods used to get rid of wastes. Although they have proven efficient in the past, new and more dangerous wastes are being generated on a daily basis. An example of these hard to dispose of wastes is chemical wastes and plastics. Countries are finding it hard to get rid of such wastes, and measures should be installed to ensure the generation of such wastes is put in check. This is a wiser approach because a reduction in production will also reduce the wastes being generated.

The Dumpster Rental Advantage

A wiser move to get rid of wastes has been successfully achieved through recycling. This ensures that the generated wastes can be reused over and over again, reducing the worry of disposing of them.

The menace of waste disposal is of concern to the whole population. Governments, concerned organizations and the entire citizen population should work in ensuring a safer and cleaner environment. This can be achieved through strict measures imposed in the generation of wastes, and the proper channel to be followed in waste disposal.

It Is Important to Protect Against Holiday Decoration Related Fire Damage

As the region ramps up to celebrate the winter holidays, the Virginia State Fire Agency warns against the myriad of fire hazards that are attendant with the increase in electrical usage and the dangers posed by improperly set-up holiday decorations.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 11/30/2015 -- According to the Virginia State Fire Agency, the upcoming winter holidays represents one of the more dangerous flashpoints owing to the increase of electrical usage as families decorate their homes for the holidays. Improperly grounded electrical wires coupled to overloaded outlets, can spell disaster if the homeowner is not cognizant of observing all related safety precautions.

"A Christmas tree is a torch ready to ignite if not properly maintained throughout the holiday season," said an agency spokesperson. "It is critical that homeowners keep the tree moist by daily adding water, and at the first sign of the needles dropping off you should consider removing the tree."

The state's website further admonishes holiday revelers to place their tree away from heat sources like fireplaces, candles, radiators, heat vents, and the like as these sources will further dry out the tree and risk making it more susceptible to catching fire."

"It's sad, but we have our share of cleanup jobs during the holiday season directly related to fire damage," said Galaxy Transfer representative. Manassas-based Galaxy Transfer, a division of EnviroSolutions, Inc., offers roll off dumpsters for commercial and residential customers needing to complete an array of cleanup projects.

Always use FM of UL rated lighting devices and check them out each year for any signs of frayed wiring or damage. Should damage be evident, it is always a good idea to just take a trip to the store and replace them rather than running the risk of igniting a fire.

Galaxy Transfer Recommends Dumpster Rental Sizes for Residential Complexes: How to Calculate the Correct Dumpster Size

Residential managers in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. area need to take into account the number of residents to correctly sum up the size and number of dumpsters they need to rent. New complexes in the area have created the need for a reliable waste management company and Galaxy Transfer answers that call.

Manassas, VA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 07/31/2015 -- Galaxy Transfer, a division of Envirosolutions, wishes to educate residential managers and new complex owners to be aware of the impact the amount of waste discarded by residents has within the community. When apartment complexes and housing communities do not have the correct number or size dumpster's onsite, the health, welfare, and environmental issues created will have a lasting effect.

According to recent studies, in part sponsored by the USDA, each person creates approximately three pounds of waste volume per day of regular trash. To determine the volume of the weight, take three pounds per day and divide it by 175 pounds per yard, then multiply by seven (the number of days in the week). The figure is 0.0120 cubic yards per person, per week.

To that end, if you have a complex that houses 500 people, 60 cubic yards of garbage is produced in one week. In order to accommodate everyone, a minimum of two thirty yard containers would be necessary. Urging residents to recycle is one way to reduce waste, however, managers cannot gauge yardage based on this.

Complexes that don't have adequate yardage containers inadvertently create health and environmental hazards, which have long lasting impacts within communities and even cities. Trash that ends up on the ground from overstuffing dumpsters also lures rodents and wildlife that threaten neighborhoods.
