AZ Industries Publishes Two Informative New Guides to Neodymium Rare-Earth Magnets

First new guide provides a basic overview of this most powerful of permanent magnets, while second gives readers practical understanding of system used to rate them, AZ Industries reports

Highland, AR -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/16/2015 -- AZ Industries, a leading supplier of wholesale magnets and magnet-based products, published two new guides to neodymium rare-earth magnets. The strongest of all widely available permanent magnets, neodymium magnets are used in a wide range of applications, from consumer electronics to sophisticated medical imaging equipment. Since 1972, AZ Industries has been one of the world's leading sources for custom magnets of all kinds.

"An important reason for our long record of success here at AZ Industries," company President Jim Adam said, "is our consistent focus on ensuring that every customer gets exactly what they need for a given project or product. In addition to always working hard on our own in this way, we also believe in the value of educating others about our offerings. Our new guides to Neodymium Material Grades and Wholesale Neo Magnets in general will make for valuable reading for anyone with an interest in magnets."

In contrast to temporary sources of magnetism like electromagnets that are dependent on the flow of electricity for their power, permanent magnets retain their magnetic action independently, a trait that can be useful in many different applications. Up until around 50 years ago, the permanent magnets available to manufacturers and researchers were of kinds fundamentally similar to the naturally occurring ones that people had been familiar with for thousands of years. Metallurgical developments had improved their magnetic strength, workability, and other characteristics, but a continued focus on iron oxide in the alloys used meant that these advances could only go so far.

In 1966, U.S. Air Force researchers discovered that a different class of materials like yttrium and cobalt could be alloyed to create permanent magnets of previously unthinkable strength. Further research into this new family of "rare earth" magnets produced the 1982 development of the neodymium magnet, one made from an especially abundant material and which remains the strongest commercially available of all.

The two newly published AZ Industries guides detail the properties and applications of this crucially important kind of magnet. The first guide compares neodymium magnets to those made from a mixture of samarium and cobalt, detailing the characteristics and many strengths of this kind of permanent magnet, including an overview of the commonly available coatings.

The second guide details the industry-standard grading system used for neodymium magnets. That system provides at-a-glance information about their magnetic strength and temperature tolerance and is therefore important to understand for anyone working with such magnets.

The two new guides to neodymium magnets add to an extensive collection of similarly informative articles at the AZ Industries website. Visitors to the site can also browse the company's online store or request a free quote for any magnet-related need.

The Pistol Magnet comes complete with easy mounting hardware and is available now from retailers including The Armory (tel: 816-903-099), Cedar Point Weaponry (573-346-6114), and The Sportsman's Edge (870-994-3651). Other retailers interested in carrying the innovative, patent-pending new product are encouraged to contact AZ Industries directly.

"Although we are probably best known for supplying industrial clients with custom magnets and other parts," AZ Industries President Jim Adam said, "we have a long tradition of developing and manufacturing fine products directed at consumers, too. Our brand new Pistol Magnet is a great example of this, offering up a direct, satisfying solution to a very common need. We're happy to report that the Pistol Magnet is now in stock at a number of our valued retail partners. We're also eager to talk with others who are interested in selling this already-popular product."

Setting up shop in their Anaheim, Calif., garage in 1972, inventor Les Adam and wife Barbara laid down the foundations of what would quickly become one of the world's leading magnet suppliers. Impressed with the quality of the young company's offerings, clients ranging from guitar makers to manufacturers of the hulking mainframe computers of the day were soon placing orders.

Those early successes led to a move, less than a decade later, to a much more spacious, 24,000 square-foot facility in Temecula, around 70 miles to the southeast. Growing at a rapid rate to become the supplier of Neo Magnets USA manufacturers relied upon the most, AZ Industries also began experimenting with the design and production of complete magnetic products aimed at end users.

Now based at an even larger, cutting-edge facility in the scenic Ozark Mountains town of Highland, Ark., the company continues to innovate and lead on both fronts. Since the passing of co-founder Les Adam in 2003, the day-to-day operations of AZ Industries have been overseen by his son Les Adam, who serves as President, while co-founder Barbara Adam lends valuable strategic guidance to the company she still owns.

The launch of the new AZ Industries Pistol Magnet marks another important milestone in the history of one of the most storied and successful magnet specialists in the world. Powerful enough to hold a handgun of appropriate design safely in place even as a vehicle travels over the bumpiest roads, the Pistol Magnet also makes for a great way of discretely storing a weapon for convenient access in a home or office. Like the rest of AZ Industries' magnetic parts and products, the new Pistol Magnet is proudly made in the U.S.A.

AZ Industries Launches New WaterRat Magnetic Underwater Location and Retrieval System

Versatile new product will be a great help to users ranging from crime scene investigators to salvage specialists, AZ Industries reports

Highland, AR -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/16/2015 -- AZ Industries, Inc., one of the world's leading magnetic product and industrial magnets suppliers, unveiled its brand-new WaterRat™ underwater retrieval magnet. Consisting of a rugged 40-inch stainless steel housing bar that holds powerful rare-earth magnets, the new WaterRat is the perfect solution for finding and retrieving submerged metallic objects. The WaterRat comes complete with a custom, form-fitting Pelican iM3200 storage and carrying case, and will be of great interest to police and military users, as well as anyone else with a need to locate or retrieve metal objects from bodies of water.

"We're excited to announce the launch of our new WaterRat underwater retrieval system," AZ Industries President Jim Adam said, "Designed in consultation with some of the nation's leading investigators and other experts, the WaterRat delivers much-needed functionality in a truly compelling package. Whether for retrieving evidence from a crime scene or locating a submerged vehicle, the versatile, practical WaterRat is a product that we are truly proud of."

Stronger than any other kind of permanent magnet, rare earth magnets are made from substances like neodymium, samarium, and cobalt. First used commercially starting at the end of the 1960s, magnets of this kind have become increasingly common in step with the explosive growth of the consumer electronics industry, where they play a variety of crucial roles.

Protected inside a resilient stainless steel housing in the new WaterRat underwater retrieval system, rare earth magnets pull with an impressive force on any ferrous substances nearby. Equipped with two rugged attachment points, the 40-inch WaterRat can be dragged through bodies of water behind a boat, or from the shore by an all-terrain vehicle, truck, or even by hand. The rare earth magnets inside are strong enough to retrieve metallic items like firearms and tools that the WaterRat passes over, making the new product an invaluable tool for crime scene investigators. The device can also be used to detect and precisely locate much larger, heavier objects like submerged vehicles.

A leading supplier of wholesale permanent magnets and a wide variety of magnet-focused products, AZ Industries has a long record of creating innovative, high-quality products like the WaterRat. The company's popular fodmaster debris removal system, for example, is relied upon extensively at airports and other facilities around the world, allowing for the quick, easy clearing of runways and other important features.

Since the company's beginnings in the garage of co-founders Les and Barbara Adam in 1972, AZ Industries has grown and evolved with the times consistently, continually finding new ways to shake up the industry and serve its customers better. More information about the new WaterRat magnetic underwater location and retrieval system and AZ Industries' many other best-in-class products can be found at the company's website.

Leading Magnet Supplier AZ Industries Kicks off Closeout Sale at Online Store

Visitors to eShop have rare chance to secure some impressive discounts on attractive products from one of the world's top permanent magnet companies, AZ Industries reports

Highland, AR -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/01/2015 -- AZ Industries, one of the world's leading suppliers of industrial and wholesale magnets, announced new special offers available at the company's online store. A popular style of heavy duty magnetic knife rack, for example, is now offered there, while supplies last, at prices of up to two-thirds off the regular levels. For more than forty years, AZ Industries has been a one-stop shop for permanent magnets of all sorts, providing companies, researchers, and others with a wide range of top-quality, specialized magnets.

"While many of our customers work directly with our sales team to fulfill their magnet-related needs," AZ Industries President Jim Adam noted, "Our online shop always has plenty of interesting offerings, too. We're happy to report that we have just posted a number of great deals there, and we think that the response is going to be enthusiastic."

Used in everything today from towering, industrial-sized generators to the most advanced and delicate of personal electronic devices, permanent magnets are an integral part of modern life. In addition to exerting force on one another and ferrous metals, as so many people have experienced personally, permanent magnets also emanate invisible magnetic fields that induce electric currents in conductors that move through them.

These basic traits mean that magnets are a nearly ubiquitous feature of technologies and industrial equipment of all sorts. AZ Industries was founded in 1972 by inventor Les Adam, quickly outgrowing the garage the company began in as it became a key supplier of magnets for everything from electric guitars to hulking mainframe computers. AZ Industries distinguished itself early on with its consistently careful, high-quality work and unfailing attention to detail, a fact that made it a favorite of OEMs and resulted in a series of moves to increasingly larger production facilities.

Today, AZ Industries is led by founder Les Adam's son, Jim, and remains owned by wife Barbara Adam. Since 1989, the company has been based in beautiful Hardy, Ark., where a spacious, state-of-the-art production facility allows AZ Industries to keep up with top-quality output that has made it one of the most prominent players in the industry for so long.

In addition to maintaining a strong reputation for supplying industrial permanent magnets of all kinds, AZ Industries has also become known as a leading source for the thin, high-precision magnets that are increasingly in demand but often troublesome for other suppliers. The company also produces many innovative, unique, related products, like the popular, highly rated fodmaster rock sweeper, a device that allows for the easy clearing of airport runways and other areas.

Through the new, limited-time clearance sale, visitors to the online AZ Industries shop will gain access to some of the company's most popular products at record-low prices. The closeout items on offer there will only be available while present supplies last.
