Feltham, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/03/2015 -- In response to the potential that the Scottish parliament will be called to vote on upcoming air gun legislation, the BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation) had been ready to emphasize what are actually rapidly falling numbers of offenses involving air guns.

Statistics marking a decline in air gun offenses can emphasize that air guns, as they rise in popularity, do not have to be associated with illicit violence and indeed can be part of a constructive and disciplined sport. The statistics proposed by the BASC do involve an evident decline. Over a six year period, from 2006 – to 2012, the number of offences involving air weapons fell by 75%. Furthermore, the BASC are still waiting on release of the currently 'missing'; data for 2013; which they strongly anticipate will show a further decline in offences.
