Government Plastic Recycling Targets Announced: Kempner Comments

Middlesex, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 07/20/2015 -- Recent news has highlighted the significance of the government's proposed target of plastic packaging recycling – at 57% by 2017. This could appear ambitious and has been supported by the Plastics Industry Recycling Action Plan (PIRAP) which sees recycling as a way to optimise infrastructure and fuel other markets. The recycling aim is also supported by the British Plastics Federation (BPF) and the Packaging and Films Association (PAFA).

A packaging form of significant use is plastic shrink wrap. It has also been involved in a number of recycling initiatives, both in the US and the UK. In the US, innovative forms include recycling the plastic film often used to protect boats when they are stored in marinas in the winter months. Furthermore, plastic film could be seen as having potential for sustainability – as it can allow for a tight, efficient covering which is not bulky and reduces the mass of waste. Shrink wrap is also popular in regards to food sustainability, as can offer a potentially air tight seal for food products, such as salad items and fruits – in turn extending their shelf-life.

About Kempner
Kempner are a prime example of experts in regards to shrink wrap. They are key providers of a range of shrink wrap machinery, thus enabling industries to efficiently package their own products. They are also frequent commentators on industry news and were quick to reflect on the governments aims of 57% plastic packaging recycling.

"We think that it is a positive thing – that the government have aims for working with a plastic in a sustainable way," A spokesperson said "That is why we encourage the sensible use of shrink wrap, as it is a time-and-cost efficient method of sealing products which can be sustainable. Not only is it a high quality method, but can be recycled too. We celebrate that businesses are making sensible and effective choices with their packaging. After all, having your own machine reduces the need to transport products to separate packaging facilities and this is a significant sustainable choice in itself."

Shrink Wrap to Be Used in International Shipping and Storage

Middlesex, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/15/2015 -- The benefits of shrink wrap in the manufacturing process has been documented for a long time. Everybody is aware of the benefits of wrapping their goods or produce in the plastic polymer film which is emblematic of shrink wrap. Yet recent developments indicate that shrink wrap could also be the future of shipping and storage. We have all seen shrink wrapped luggage on the conveyor belts at airports. But now it is also being used to wrap machinery, vehicles and other metal industrial equipment when it is being shipped overseas. The unique film used to guard this equipment prevents the onset of rust and protects business assets from any damage giving companies a unique and efficient edge in their endeavours.

The implications of this news could potentially be huge. With sturdy films being used to shrink wrap entire vehicles, it seems that the flexibility of shrink wrap knows no end. In an increasingly globalised world focused on international trade and agreements, it could fast become a staple part of the economic system, as if it wasn't already.

About Kempner
Kempner are leading suppliers of shrink wrap machinery, accessories and products. They are also regular commentators on industry news. A spokesperson had this to say, 'We are quite excited by these developments and think it says a lot about the future of the packaging industry when these solutions are being adapted for the purposes of shipping and storage. We have always known it was flexible for all types of products from food and stationery to software and other IT products. This is why we believe it is crucial to be at the forefront of technological developments in this area, because it is a field which is growing so fast. Everyday there are new developments, and this is why we ensure that we are always up to date with the latest progress so that our clients can benefit from our knowledge and experience.'

Shrink Wrapping Boats and Sustainability: Kempner Comments

Middlesex, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/03/2015 -- Recent news from the US has emphasized both the versatility and sustainability of using shrink wrap as a contemporary packaging practice. In the US, boat shrink-wrap is a highly popular form of protection, covering boats in the winter months, often when they are docked in marinas. According to recent announcements by the WoodsHole Sea Grant program, the US is now endorsing a process of collections where boat owners give their used shrink wrap to recyclers, at no cost to themselves.

The incorporation of recycling into the shrink wrap system ultimately highlights what a highly responsive area it is at current. Shrink-wrap has highly beneficial packaging qualities for a variety of goods – and can provide an airtight seal, is dust resistant and can even have a translucent finish so the object can be seen inside. That are cycling initiative is underway to help sustain one of the biggest areas of shrink wrap usage highlights that it can used as part of an environmentally conscious process also.

Kempner are a key provider of shrink wrap machinery and packaging systems, as well as frequent commentators on industry news. They were quick to comment on this latest information from America.

"We think that the announced recycling initiative in the US is a significant positive," a company spokesperson told us "As it highlights that not only is shrink wrap such a durable packaging method that it can be even used in the maritime industry, but also that it can be reused and recycled. As key UK retailers of shrinkwrap machinery, sustainability is a key factor of what drives us forward selling our machines, so we are following suit of progress in the US. After all, not only can shrink wrap be part of a greener process but when businesses have their own machines, this reduces transport costs to packaging facilities and saves on further emissions.

In turn, we are confident that shrink wrap will continue to be a well-managed, respected and productive means of packaging for many years to come."
