After completing the stringent process to be recognised as OFTEC registered, it is now legally able to install and service oil and fuel tanks in the UK domestic market.

OFTEC (the Oil Firing Technical Association) is a trade association that has set industry standards since its formation in 1991. It is recognised by manufacturers, governments, consumers and distributors, and registered status demonstrates that businesses are committed to the standards of excellence established by the association.

Even though OFTEC registration is not a legal requirement for serving the commercial sector, it demonstrates that the business is committed to maintaining high standards. Customers choosing installation and maintenance services for fuel tanks and bunded oil tanks are therefore given extra reassurance when they choose an OFTEC registered business.

To become registered under OFTEC's scheme, Octane had to meet strict requirements. These included having public liability insurance of £2 million or more, providing a workmanship warranty for its installation work, having a suitable Health and Safety policy, having a suitable complaints procedure in place, keeping records of complaints and certain test equipment and more.

Following its new registered status, Octane can now self-certify installation work through OFTEC. There is no need for it to apply for building notice and this saves time and expense submitting plans.

Octane's other fuel management systems, the Sapphire and the Sapphire+, are designed to meet the requirements of larger-scale enterprises.
