Manchester, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/04/2015 -- SignMedia SMART, a free mobile sign language video glossary created by Bellyfeel Media and partners from 4 European Universities has been relaunched to now include over 2000 media clips. The media glossary explains media industry terminology and allows deaf media professionals to work more easily within the TV and Film industry and create their own high quality work.

The new SignMedia SMART glossary is the result of 18 months intensive development between Bellyfeel Media, the University of Wolverhampton and 3 European partners.

SignMedia SMART is accessible for free on all smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops. It features a fully searchable database of 500 terms in British, Austrian, Italian and Swedish sign languages plus A-Z listings and related terms.

This mobile video glossary follows on from Sign Media's interactive game based E-Learning Tool, which launched in 2012 and was shortlisted for a Medea Award (celebrating innovation and good practice in the use of media in education).

Bellyfeel's managing director, Krishna Stott, said, "This glossary has been created with an incredible amount of user feedback. We have created an app that has basically been designed by deaf users. They directed where we needed to go with this. Created with the support of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Union; SignMedia SMART is aimed specifically at Deaf media professionals in Europe and provides these vocational materials in an entertaining and engaging way.

The project partners are Bellyfeel Media (UK), University of Wolverhampton (UK), Mutt and Jeff Pictures Ltd (UK), Alpen-Adria Universitaet Klagenfurt (Austria), Alba (Italy) and European Sign Language Centre (Sweden).
