An extension of the Pennsylvania 6 brand, the restaurant pays homage to Hotel Pennsylvania, the first social scene in Manhattan where entertainers and political players would come together over refined culinary dishes and hand-crafted cocktails. In helping to sustain the historical integrity of the original, Pennsylvania 6 DC's food and beverage program will be led by Sommelier and James Beard Award-winner Mark Slater and Culinary Director Brian Cooke. The Menu

Pennsylvania 6 DC will feature the freshest raw bar experiences in Washington, DC. Based on the popularity of the offering at its sister restaurants in New York and Philadelphia, the raw bar with open kitchen will offer a wide variety of local seafood brought in daily.

Additionally, the restaurant boasts an eclectic culinary assortment ranging from Burgundy Snails with bone marrow butter crust to Dry Aged Steaks. Inevitably, the menu aims to reflect what is local and in-season. Original entrees will include Roasted Chicken "Diablo" that comes with Yukon gold potato puree, wilted lacinato kale, currants and roasted garlic-chicken jus; and Berkshire Pork Chop paired with butternut squash, candied pecans, fried brussels sprouts and Bourbon lacquer. The beverage program developed by Mark Slater is a product of his more than 40 years of expertise creating food and wine pairings. Additionally, the restaurant will offer classically influenced craft cocktails and a top rated selection of the world's best vintages.

The Space

The restaurant will seat more than 300, including about 120 in the bar and lounge area with 28 additional seating on the patio, with moveable walls throughout to create enclosed party spaces from 10 to 300. The new space takes a more modern approach to the 1940's, Hollywood-glam era. The Maggie O'Neill-designed restaurant will feature five distinct zones: An antique marble-topped raw bar with an open kitchen; A vintage den with a candlelit hearth for cocktail lounging; Classic intimate dining with floor-to-ceiling vintages on display; A show stopping dining room complete with golden chandeliers for large private events in addition to a cafe patio set under a canopy.

To evoke the feeling of the artful struggle between power and play, delicate materials were used throughout the space, including a dramatic crimson floor, stained white oak wood walls, handcrafted antique lighting, a black and red canopy to play to the indoor/outdoor experience, black and white photography and period-specific furniture.
