Advanced Driving Lessons- Become a Safe, Responsible Driver

Get an advanced driving qualification. The more you know about driving, the better you can control your car in a dangerous road situation. High quality advanced training certainly reduces accidents risk very substantially.

Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/27/2010 -- Britain's roads are getting busier and busier, and more motor accidents are happening each year as a result. There are about 40,000 serious road accidents in the UK every year. In most cases, accidents happen due to driver error. Driver negligence can lead to devastation. Most people think of themselves as good drivers, but no matter how old experience driver you can still make mistakes.

So DSA says- "There is more to driving or riding safely than just passing your driving or riding test. You should consider doing further training, leading to an advanced driving test. Passing an advanced test shows that you have developed your driving or riding skills to keep you and your passengers safe."

For more information visit: http://www.theory-test.co.uk/driving-test/car-practical-test.asp

So get an advanced driving qualification. The more you know about driving, the better you can control your car in a dangerous road situation. High quality advanced training certainly reduces accidents risk very substantially.

The standards for advanced driving or riding involve:

* The ability to control the position and speed of the vehicle safely.
* Using road and traffic conditions to make reasonable progress.
* A standard of driving based on concentration, observation, anticipation and planning.
* Co-ordination with good handling skills.
* The vehicle at the right place on the road.
* Travelling at the right speed with the correct gear engaged.
* Stopping safely in the distance that can be seen to be clear.

If you apply advance driving techniques

* Fuel consumption will be better.
* Level of stress while driving will be reduced.
* Better skills will lead to safety on roads.
* Your vehicle will be less harmed.

For more information visit: http://www.theory-test.co.uk/driving-test/advanced-driving-lessons.asp

And you will get pleasure from driving!

Advanced driving lessons are not just for older, even experienced drivers also go for this course if they would like to drive more safely, economically, with a better consciousness for other road users and who wants to enjoy driving. This training is also ideal for those who wish to make their career in driving. Another advantage of advanced driving test is you get discounts on your vehicle insurance!

If you want to progress your driving skills further there are a number of organisations which offer an advanced driving test and should be able to offer you training and advice on how best to prepare.

After the break you'll then be shown a short tutorial video clip about how the hazard perception part works.
This part of the theory test requires you to view 14 hazard video clips on the computer screen of approximately one minute each. You are required to watch these clips as if you were the driver. There will be 15 hazard to find - at least one on each clip. However, one clip will have 2 hazards. The hazard perception test clips will not contain any sound.
Independent driving element in driving test will come in effect from Oct 2010.
Independent driving is tasking the candidate to drive for approximately 10 mins either following a series of directions, following traffic signs, or a combination of both.

Independent driving is when the learner get out on the road He/She will be driving alone and they need to know how to drive safely.
Highway Code - Rules for Pedestrians

This is very useful to know road, traffic signs, rule and regulations if you are preparing for your driving theory test or practical test in UK.

Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/25/2010 -- The Highway Code is essential reading for everyone. Its rules apply to all road users: drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians as well as horse riders. Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements, and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal offense. You may be fined, given penalty points on your licence or be disqualified from driving.

Rules for pedestrians - General guidance :

1. Pavements (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided. Where possible, avoid being next to the kerb with your back to the traffic. If you have to step into the road, look both ways first. Always show due care and consideration for others.

2. If there is no pavement keeps to the right-hand side of the road so that you can see oncoming traffic. You should take extra care and - be prepared to walk in single file, especially on narrow roads or in poor light - keep close to the side of the road.

It may be safer to cross the road well before a sharp right-hand bend (so that oncoming traffic has a better chance of seeing you). Cross back after the bend.

3. Help other road users to see you. Wear or carry something light colored, bright or fluorescent in poor daylight conditions. When it is dark, use reflective materials (e.g. armbands, sashes, waistcoats and jackets), which can be seen, by drivers usingadlights, up to three times as far away as non-reflective materials.

4. Young children should not be out alone on the pavement or road (see Rule 7). When taking children out, keep between them and the traffic and hold their hands firmly. Strap very young children into push-chairs or use reins. When pushing a young child in a buggy, do not push the buggy into the road when checking to see if it is clear to cross, particularly from between parked vehicles.

5. Organized walks. Large groups of people walking together should use a pavement if available; if one is not, they should keep to the left. Look-outs should be positioned at the front and back of the group, and they should wear fluorescent clothes in daylight and reflective clothes in the dark. At night, the look-out in front should show a white light and the one at the back a red light. People on the outside of large groups should also carry lights and wear reflective clothing.

6. Motorways. Pedestrians MUST NOT be on motorways or slip roads except in an emergency

If you are preparing for your driving theory test or practical test then know more about the road/traffic signs & rule and regulations

Visit here: http://www.123driving.co.uk/driving/theory-cd-dvd-highway-code-practical-book.aspx

Crossing the road :

7. The Green Cross Code. The advice given below on crossing the road is for all pedestrians. Children should be taught the Code and should not be allowed out alone until they can understand and use it properly. The age when they can do this is different for each child. Many children cannot judge how fast vehicles are going or how far away they are. Children learn by example, so parents and carers should always use the Code in full when out with their children. They are responsible for deciding at what age children can use it safely by themselves.

a) First find a safe place to cross and where there is space to reach the pavement on the other side. Where there is a crossing nearby, use it. It is safer to cross using a subway, a footbridge, an island, a zebra, pelican, toucan or puffin crossing, or where there is a crossing point controlled by a police officer, a school crossing patrol or a traffic warden. Otherwise choose a place where you can see clearly in all directions. Try to avoid crossing between parked cars, on a blind bend, or close to the brow of a hill. Move to a space where drivers and riders can see you clearly. Do not cross the road diagonally.

b) Stop just before you get to the kerb, where you can see if anything is coming. Do not get too close to the traffic. If there is no pavement, keep back from the edge of the road but make sure you can still see approaching traffic.

c) Look all around for traffic and listen.Traffic could come from any direction. Listen as well, because you can sometimes hear traffic before you see it.

d) If traffic is coming, let it pass. Look all around again and listen. Do not cross until there is a safe gap in the traffic and you are certain that there is plenty of time. Remember, even if traffic is a long way off, it may be approaching very quickly.

e) When it is safe, go straight across the road- do not run. Keep looking and listening for traffic while you cross, in case there is any traffic you did not see, or in case other traffic appears suddenly. Look out for cyclists and motorcyclists travelling between lanes of traffic. Do not walk diagonally across the road.

8. At a junction. When crossing the road, look out for traffic turning into the road, especially from behind you. If you have started crossing and traffic wants to turn into the road, you have priority and they should give way.

9. Pedestrian Safety Barriers. Where there are barriers, cross the road only at the gaps provided for pedestrians. Do not climb over the barriers or walk between them and the road.

10. Tactile paving. Raised surfaces that can be felt underfoot provide warning and guidance to blind or partially sighted people. The most common surfaces are a series of raised studs, which are used at crossing points with a dropped kerb, or a series of rounded raised bars which are used at level crossings, at the top and bottom of steps and at some other hazards.

11. One-way streets. Check which way the traffic is moving. Do not cross until it is safe to do so without stopping. Bus and cycle lanes may operate in the opposite direction to the rest of the traffic.

12. Bus and cycle lanes. Take care when crossing these lanes as traffic may be moving faster than in the other lanes, or against the flow of traffic.

13. Routes shared with cyclists. Some cycle tracks run alongside footpaths or pavements, using a segregating feature to separate cyclists from people on foot. Segregated routes may also incorporate short lengths of tactile paving to help visually impaired people stay on the correct side. On the pedestrian side this will comprise a series of flat-topped bars running across the direction of travel (ladder pattern). On the cyclist side the same bars are orientated in the direction of travel (tramline pattern). Not all routes which are shared with cyclists are segregated. Take extra care where this is so.

14. Parked vehicles. If you have to cross between parked vehicles, use the outside edges of the vehicles as if they were the kerb. Stop there and make sure you can see all around and that the traffic can see you. Make sure there is a gap between any parked vehicles on the other side, so you can reach the pavement. Never cross the road in front of, or behind, any vehicle with its engine running, especially a large vehicle, as the driver may not be able to see you.

15. Reversing vehicles. Never cross behind a vehicle which is reversing, showing white reversing lights or sounding a warning.

16. Moving vehicles. You MUST NOT get on to or hold on to a moving vehicle.

17. At night. Wear something reflective to make it easier for others to see you (see Rule 3). If there is no pedestrian crossing nearby, cross the road near a street light so that traffic can see you more easily.

Driving Theory Test - Nervous for the Test

Hertfordshire, England-- (SBWIRE) -- 09/30/2010 -- Many learners fail in their driving test because they get nervous and stressed out on their test day. Nearly everyone gets nervous about taking their driving test, no matter how well prepared they are. It has been observed that people who are usually cool and calm, they also get worried as the day of their driving test day gets nearer and their nervousness gets worse.

The online theory test is made up of two parts; the multiple choice part and the hazard perception part. If you pass one part and fail the other you'll fail the whole online test, and you'll need to take both parts again. Once you have passed the online theory test you can then apply to take your practical driving test.

For more information http://www.pass-test.co.uk/driving-test/dsa_driving_theory_test_book.aspx

How to prepare for hazard perception test -

Hazard perception test is not difficult at all, most of the learner drivers fail in this part of the test only because they do not understand the examination process.

So make sure you understand how would be tested in this part of the test.

For more information http://www.123discountshop.com/asp/driving_test_bundle_package.asp

People get nervous about taking their test because :

• Pressure from friends/family
• Fear of failure
• Self-doubts and lack of confidence in your driving
• Lack of preparation
• Previous test failure(s)

Things to remember while appearing for the test :

• Practice and practice and practice - The main reason of failure in a test is lack of preparation and practice. So don't rush into taking your driving test
• unless and until you're properly prepared and confident about your preparation.
• Before appearing for the test at least once have a mock driving test with your instructor.
• Avoid listening to 'failure stories'. This would make you more nervous. Just focus on your performance.
• Think positive about your driving test. Thinking can build an actual difference to overcoming driving test nerves
• It's ok if you make mistake - Your mistake could be minor driving fault, wont necessary fail you in test. If you make a mistake, keep calm and focus on your driving.
• Believe in yourself - Be confident in your own abilities.
• Don't panic - Say to yourself in your head 'I CAN do this test'.
• Don't take medicines to calm your nerves.
• One day before your test get a good rest.
• Don't drink too much coffee, tea and fizzy drinks; the caffeine will 'hype' you and make your thinking less clear.
• Taking test in the early morning will give you less time to worry about it.
• Do not spread the news - Don't tell your friends and other people that you've booked your driving test. This will build the extra stress of trying to live up to your friends and others expectations. Letting your parents know will do as they will give you all the support you want.
• Revise in mind - Perform coordinated tasks by imagining doing them, by practicing in your head.
• Perspective - Overall, remember that although exams are important, they are not the be all and end all. You can always re-take the test.

Driving Practical Test - Choosing a Good Driving Instructor

Hertfordshire, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/25/2010 -- An approved driving instructor (ADI) would have the experience, knowledge and training to teach you properly. Choosing a driving instructor plays a vital role as professional training can contribute significantly in success or failure in your practical driving test.

Some driving instructors are a part of bigger driving schools such as the AA, BSM or Red and some are impendent. Whichever driving instructor you choose to go with, make sure you directly communicate what you expect from them.

Make sure that driving instructor is full qualified

Driving instructors called Approved driving instructor (ADIs) are registered with Driving Standard Agency (DSA). Two types of badges are issued by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) for display in tuition vehicles.

These badges will help you to visually identify instructor's qualification

- Green, octagonal badge - The instructor is fully qualified and approved

- Pink, triangular badge - The instructor is licensed under training and is not yet fully qualified

Visit : http://www.123driving.co.uk/driving/theory-cd-dvd-highway-code-practical-book.aspx

It is suggested that at least compare two or three driving instructors or driving schools before you make a final decision.

You must ask the instructor

- How long have you been teaching?
- Will you get a full hour's tuition?
- Will it always be in the same car?
- Do they carry other pupils as passengers while teaching you?

Don't go for the cheapest option while choosing the driving instructor. You can ask your friends and family who have recently passed their driving test.

Driving instructor should always

- Come on time
- Appear in a clean well-maintained car
- Must prepare and plan lesson based on the DSA syllabus

If you are unhappy with the service provided by your driving instructor, make an effort and talk about it tactfully to resolve any matter. Then too if everything remains same, you may choose to find a new driving instructor. Driving instructor should make you feel secure and confident while you are learning to drive.

Visit : http://www.123driving.co.uk

Driving instructor would judge your abilities and would guide you when you should appear for your full practical driving test.

It is always good to perform a mock test before appearing for the final test. In this driving instructor will act as the examiner and for the learner to take instruction and execute a number of procedures that will be given, such as turning the car in the road. After doing this mock test, learners will get a good example of what exactly is expected on the actual test, so that he can be prepared and perform well in the final test.
This provides customers a wider range of appointments over an extended working day.

Car practical test is generally available at all permanent test centres. Saturday and weekday evening tests, subject to resources being available, are offered at a premium rate. Non premium rate tests are available at various times between 7.30 am and 3.27 pm Monday to Friday. Click to know more about booking test.

The car driving test is straightforward and has been designed to see if you:

Can drive safely

Know The Highway Code and can demonstrate this through your driving practical test

What will the test include?

The practical test will include an eyesight check (if you fail this, your test will not continue). The eyesight test requires you to read a number plate that is a certain distance away.
For more information http://www.123discountshop.com/asp/driving_test_bundle_package.asp

After the eyesight test, you will be asked two vehicle vehicle safety checks. You will then be examined on your general driving and on two reversing exercises.

The reversing exercises will be chosen from:

.Reversing around a corner
.Turning in the road
.Reverse parking
.You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop exercise
.Know more about the Driving Manoeuvres in more detail
.Vehicle safety questions

These are basic safety checks that a driver should carry out to ensure the vehicle is safe for use. Although some checks may involve the candidate in opening the bonnet to identify where fluid levels would be checked, pupils will not be asked to touch a hot engine or physically check fluid levels.

As vehicle technology advances, more and more vehicles are being equipped with electronic diagnostic systems, which inform the driver of the state of the engine fluid levels and tyre pressures. It will be acceptable for a candidate to refer to the vehicle information system (if fitted) when answering questions on fluid levels or tyre pressures. For more information http://www.pass-test.co.uk/driving-test/driving_practical_test.aspx

Candidates will be asked two questions, one 'show me' and one 'tell me'. One or both questions answered incorrectly will result in one driving fault being recorded. Click here to see marksheet
What happens during the car driving practical test
During the driving test the examiner will give you directions which you should follow. Test routes are designed to be as uniform as possible and will include a range of typical road and traffic conditions. During the practical test, the examiner will ask you to carry out set exercises.

Throughout the test you should drive in the way your instructor has taught you. If you make a mistake, don't worry about it, it might be a less serious driving fault and may not affect your result. The examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving.

You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test. If at any time your examiner considers you to be a danger to other road users your test will be stopped.

You are allowed to take someone with you on the test, this person must be over 16 years old and cannot take any part in the test.

After the practical test
When the practical test is over, the examiner will tell you whether you passed or failed. You can request feedback on your test from the examiner, who will then go through your performance during the test.

If you pass...

If you pass and have a photocard driving licence issued after 1 March 2004 the examiner will ask you if you want your full driving licence issued to you automatically.

If you want to use this service, the examiner will take your old licence off you, scan the details and send them electronically to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). You will then be given a pass certificate to prove you passed your test. DVLA will then send you your new full licence by post within three weeks of you passing your practical test.

If you pass your test but do not want to use this automatic service, or have a licence issued before 1 March 2004, you will be given a pass certificate by the examiner.

On the back of the pass certificate it tells you what you need to do next. This involves sending your licence and appropriate fee to DVLA who will then check your application and issue you with a new full licence.

If you fail...
If you fail the driving test you should ask the examiner for some feedback to help prepare yourself for your next test. Your driving report form will also show you where you made any mistakes. You can take another practical test 10 working days after your car or motorcycle test.

Driving test standards
All examiners are trained to carry out the test to the same standard, they do not have pass or fail quotas. So as long as you demonstrate the standard required you will pass your driving test.

Weather conditions/ mechanical problems etc

DSA do not conduct practical tests in bad light or in adverse weather conditions for the safety of the candidate and the examiner. We will arrange another appointment at no further cost, but compensation is not payable. Candidates should call the telephone number quoted on the appointment letter to check whether their test will go ahead. If the driving test is not completed for reasons attributable to you or your vehicle, you will have to take another test at your own cost.

Learner Driver: Be Aware, a New Drivers Act Has Been Introduced

New Driver Act has been introduced to curb the no. of road accidents in the UK. According to it, if you make six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test, you have to appear for driving test. Know more details here.

Hertfordshire, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/23/2010 -- The New Drivers Act has been introduced by DSA which says that if you make six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test, you have to appear for driving test. Visit http://www.theory-test.co.uk for more information.

Before passing your first driving test if you gain any penalty, that will be taken into consideration. Though, having penalty more then six times, doesn't mean that licence will be revoked immediately once you pass your driving test.

The new drivers act is being implemented in many countries such as Channel Islands, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, Great Britain, the European community, European Economic Area and Isle of man.

The New Drivers Act applies to the drivers who want to exchange their driving licence from a designated country for a british licence and pass a further driving test in this country.

The designated countries are: South Africa, Australia, Barbados, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Monaco, Singapore, Switzerland and Zimbabwe.

According to New Drivers Act if a person wants to get their full driving licence back he needs to first reapply for a provisional driving licence.

Once you get your provisional licence then you need to pass theory and practical driving tests again. Once you pass your driving test, you need to exchange your provisional driving licence for your final and actual one. To get provisional driving licence Visit link: http://www.theory-test.co.uk/asp/provisional_license.asp

Passing a retest doesn't mean that your penalty points from your driving licence have been removed. A penalty point remains applicable with the drivers.

If a person wants to apply for driving licence for another vehicle needs the approval of a traffic commissioner and they may ask you to give a driving test for those vehicles.

Driving Theory Test: Test Pattern and Touch Screen System

Driving test uses the touch screen system in multiple choice questions of theory test part. Examinees are not aware of this sometimes. Get to know the working and scoring mechanism. And pass driving test!

Hertfordshire, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/10/2010 -- There are two parts to the theory test: the multiple-choice test and the hazard perception test.

Both are required to be taken and passed in the same session in order to attain a theory test certificate, which can then be used to book the practical driving test within two years of the theory pass.

For more information visit: http://www.theory-test.co.uk

Multiple choice question :

In this part of the theory test has 50 multiple choice questions and the examinee must answer at least 43 of them correctly to pass in 57 mins. For lorry and bus drivers, 100 questions are asked over a 115-minute period, and 85 out of 100 must be answered correctly to pass.

Hazard perception part:

In this part of the theory test there are 14 hazard video clips of approximately one minute each. In this examinee have to watch these clips as a driver. There will be 15 hazard to find - at least one on each clip. However, one clip will have 2 hazards. The pass mark for this part of the test is 44 out of 75 for car drivers and motorcycle riders.

Those taking LGV or PCV (lorry or bus) tests must score at least 50 out of 75. Multiple-choice test uses the touch screen system to mark the correct answers.

What is touch screen-

A touch screen is an electronic visual display that can identify the existence and position of a touch within the display area. The term in general refers to touching the display of the device with a finger or hand. Touch screens can also sense other inactive objects, such as a stylus. On the other hand, if the thing sensed is active, as with a light pen, the term touch screen is usually not relevant.

The touch screen has two main attributes -

First, it enables one to cooperate directly with what is displayed, rather than indirectly with a cursor controlled by a mouse or touchpad. Secondly, it lets one do so without requiring any intermediate device that would need to be held in the hand.

Touch screen in driving test :

· To take online theory test for driving theory test examinees use touch screen computer system.
· Touch screen is preferred because it is easy to use or user friendly and has been carefully designed
· Examinees can also work through a practice session for up to 15 minutes to get used to the system before actually starting their test.
· To answer a question the examinee simply touches his choice of answer from the listed answers on the computer screen.
· During examination if an examinee faces any problem or finds difficult to use the new system staff will be on hand to help them
· The system has been carefully designed so that examinees that are color blind can use it.
· The system has the option for dyslexic examinees to listen to the test being read in English through a headset.

People with dyslexia can also apply to have up to doubled the standard time for the multiple choice part of the test. This accommodation must be arranged at the time of booking. Supporting documents such as a letter from your GP or teacher will be required.

· The examinee is allowed to go back to a question at any time and can also flag questions they are unsure of in order to find and return to it quickly and easily later.
Candidates may currently do this by way of a driving license. Where the license does not contain a photograph a valid passport is also required.
Candidates will still need to confirm their driving entitlement by producing their driving license but, with effect from 27 April, candidates who do not have a photo card license will be able to use a valid UK ID Card issued by IPS as an alternative to their passport.

Any candidate who is unable to satisfy the examiner of their driving entitlement or identity will have their test cancelled and may lose their fee.

Eco-Safe Driving and Riding As Part of the Driving Test

Hertfordshire, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/20/2010 -- From 10 September 2008, if you're sitting a driving test, you'll also be assessed on your ability to drive or ride in a way that shows eco-safe driving techniques.

This assessment is not part of the existing assessment criteria for the practical test and you will not fail your test because you don't demonstrate eco-safe driving techniques.

Visit : http://www.pass-test.co.uk/common/frm_product_info.aspx

The driving examiner will assess control and planning, and at the end of the test will give you feedback, as guidance, on how efficiently you're driving.

Control
Always try to use the vehicle controls as smoothly as possible, with particular attention to:

• starting and moving away
• accelerating
• using gears
• driving at an appropriate speed

This reduces wear and tear on your vehicle and will help in reducing CO2.

Planning
Reduce harmful emissions by anticipating road traffic conditions and acting in good time, rather than reacting to them at the last moment, especially:

• showing hazard awareness and planning
• making use of engine braking
• stopping the engine when appropriate
• Tips for 'eco-safe' driving and riding

Follow these tips as a guide to safe driving or riding for economy:

• Check your tyres regularly and keep at recommended pressure
• Don't carry unnecessary weight
• Remove roof-rack or luggage boxes when not needed to reduce air resistance
• Don't exceed speed limits, accelerate gently
• Consider using cruise control where it would be appropriate
•Turn off your engine if you're likely to have a prolonged wait
• Use air conditioning only when you need to
• Plan your route to avoid known congestion points
• Try to travel during off-peak times

Keep your distance. Driving too close can intimidate a less experienced motorcyclist.
Check for bikes when changing lanes. A motorcyclist may be in the space you want to move into, or moving into it fast.

Remember your blind spot. For learner drivers its too mendatory to drive slow and turn vehicle safely. Visit to pass theory test online http://www.theory-test.co.uk/asp/product_list.asp

Check for bikes when turning. Parked cars or large vehicles can obstruct your view of a motorcyclist.

Motorcyclists might pass you on either side, so double-check, whether you're turning left or right.

Check for motorcycles at junctions. Remember to look carefully for bikes, as it is often difficult to see them when they are coming out of junctions. Always look out for them before you emerge from a junction because they could be approaching faster than you think.

Park safely. Check for motorcyclists before opening a car door and ensure that your passengers do the same. When you pull away remember that motorcyclists are narrower than cars, which can make them harder to see.

Why Consciousness Is Important About Hazard Perception Test, Theory Test

The Driving Theory Test is a test which United Kingdom learners must pass to obtain a full driving license. The test was introduced in July 1996. There are two mainly different tests, one for car drivers and one for motorcyclists.

Hertfordshire, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/13/2010 -- The car and motorcycle theory test lasts 57 minutes and involves answering 50 multiple-choice questions about a wide range of 'driving topics', such as car or bike mechanics, the Highway Code and driving law. 43 of the 50 questions must be answered correctly in order to pass. For lorries and buses 60 questions are asked over a 70 minute period in which 51 out of 60 must be answered correctly to pass.

It is immediately followed by a hazard perception test. Having passed these two exams, a certificate is issued, which can then be used to book the practical driving test within two years of the theory pass. It is necessary to pass all three parts, theory, hazard perception and practical, in order to obtain a driving license. More information about driving hazard test can be gathered here http://www.theory-test.co.uk/asp/hazard_perception_info.asp.

The theory test was last revised on the 3rd September 2007 to include 50 questions (with a pass mark of 43), instead of the previous 35.

Hazard perception test

Examinees watch fourteen one-minute clips filmed from the perspective of a car driver and have to indicate, usually by clicking a mouse button or touching the screen, when they observe a developing hazard. All of the clips will include one developing hazard, and one will include two such hazards.

The sooner an examinee reacts to a developing hazard, the more points are scored, from five down to one, with no score if the examinee reacts too late. The maximum score possible is 75.For the purposes of the test, a "developing hazard" is defined as something which requires the driver to adjust speed and/or direction. Potential hazards are hazards that no immediate action needs to be taken, but are worth observing in case their status changes.

Clicking on potential hazards is acceptable, but the scoring window only opens if that hazard develops, thus examinees have to remember to react if the status of a hazard changes, and not just when the potential hazard is first spotted.

The hazard perception test and the theory test are taken together and must both be passed in the same sitting for the applicant to become elligible to take the practical driving test in order to obtain a full driving licence. Watch hazard perception test free clips now online here http://www.theory-test.co.uk/asp/hpt_flashdisplay.asp.

Practical driving test

A Practical Driving Test is a test which United Kingdom learner drivers must pass to obtain a driving licence. Different tests are available for users of different vehicles, from car drivers, to motorcyclists and HGV drivers. In Great Britain it is administered by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and in Northern Ireland by the Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA). It is necessary to have passed a UK driving theory test and a UK hazard perception test before sitting this exam. Passing this test then entitles one to hold a full UK driving licence.

Practical driving test format

The practical test is taken on the road, with the examiner directing the candidate around a pre-determined (but unknown to the candidate) route. The examiner marks the candidate for driving faults (commonly called minor faults or minors), serious faults, and dangerous faults (collectively referred to as major faults or majors). A candidate will fail the test if he or she accumulates any "major" faults, or more than fifteen "minors".

If a candidate acquires several (three or more) driving faults in the same category, the examiner may consider the fault a recurring and dangerous habit and mark a serious fault in that category. The test usually lasts 30 to 48 minutes in a standard test, or one hour when the candidate is taking a test after having their licence revoked.

Feature of theory test

· Driving Theory test questions will increase
· No. of questions in the exam currently 35 will increase to 50
· Pass mark will be 43
· Allotted time to complete test will be 57 min

Recognition of available clues and perception of danger are skills that are necessary in all drivers and riders, irrespective of the vehicle used. For this reason, the same version of the hazard perception test is used for all categories of test.

Jersey, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/29/2010 -- BBC has recently said - Drivers and pedestrians risking their lives at level crossings.

Network Rail has said - The driving test should have compulsory questions on level crossings to cut the number of drivers who take risks on them each year.

It said there were 14 crashes and 13 deaths last year and 140 near misses between vehicles and trains.

The rail operator recorded 3,200 incidents of misuse, but said the actual figure was likely to be higher.

Network Rail said motorists were "too often playing Russian roulette with a 200-tonne train" - and losing.

Network Rail chief executive Iain Coucher said test questions would help drivers start out with good habits on negotiating level crossings, rather than running red lights or dodging around barriers.

While responding on this - Department for Transport spokesman said: "Theory test questions are selected at random, with no single topic guaranteed, because we want candidates to know all the rules of the road rather than just specific areas they know will be covered in the test.

However, after close consultation with the rail industry, we have recently incorporated more questions into the theory test on level crossing safety and we have expanded the information on level crossings in the Highway Code.

Level crossing - The rules

• Always obey flashing red stop lights
• Stop behind the white line across the road
• Keep going if you have already crossed the white line when the amber light comes on
• Wait if a train goes by and the red lights continue to flash - another train will be passing soon
• Only cross when the lights go off and barriers open
• If there are no lights, drivers should stop when the barrier begins to close and not cross until it opens

At open crossings with no gates or lights, look both ways and listen before you cross.

Best way not to suffer from these type of hazards or road accidents; we should pass our theory test, hazard perception test during the theory test examination very well. Because its key to our driving skills.

Its very simple to pass when facing driving license test uk, there are so many websites which provides you the driving test material, but keep in mind do not take it so lightly. Its also very important to choose the good material, books, cd's, software from which the questions or test is organized.

Hazard perception test has been introduced in the driving theory test because new drivers are disproportionately involved in accidents, especially in the first months after passing a driving test. It has been proven that drivers who have taken hazard perception test training have much better hazard test skills.

Many learner drivers fail in hazard perception test, mainly because of lack of knowledge about the hazard test itself. If you understand the hazard perception test, how it works, how to score, what to look for etc, it's not at all difficult to score good in the hazard test.

Learner Drivers - Few Things to Keep in Mind While Using Satellite Navigation Systems

Learner drivers - Few things to keep in mind while using satellite navigation systems

Jersey, UK -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/27/2010 -- Satellite Navigation (satnav) systems are popular with many drivers and provide a safe option for directions for drivers in unfamiliar areas. Correctly used satnav systems have the potential to ease congestion, reduce fuel consumption and improve road safety. Listening to satnav instructions is likely to be less distracting for a driver than stopping every few minutes to check a paper map or worse, trying to use a paper map in motion.

Satellite navigation systems are perhaps one of the most utile driving aids. With their improved functions like voice commands and bluetooth technology, these systems are making traveling fun and easy. Still, it is necessary to use them wisely while driving without putting yourself in danger.

The Think Road safety has given few useful tips on how you should keep in mind while using Satellite Navigation (satnav) systems

• Choose a satnav system that is suitable for you.
• The controls are simple to understand and operate;
• You can read and understand the graphics;
• The system includes all the information you need (e.g. height restrictions in the case of a tall vehicle);
• The map information is current and can be updated in the future.

Driving on the road should be paid full attention on your vehicle otherwise you could be in big trouble, like collides with another vehicle or having cross the road dividers or may be others.

For more information visit: http://www.theory-test.co.uk/asp/hazard_perception_test.asp

While using Satellite Navigation (satnav) systems you keep in mind that this is help to you for finding out the location or some specified place. It should be used very carefully or you have to travel some more distance unwanted.

Many drivers on the road do not follow the guideline well and pay healthy money for avoiding traffic signals. On the other hand if you are well passed theory test it will be easy to you drive a vehicle on the road.

So, this leads to be important factor which is known as "hazard perception test". It is passed during your theory test examination. And its preparation is provided by theory-test.co.uk.

If you are not passed your driving theory test then there is one great opportunity for you. There you will be more pleased to learn driving because there is confidential tradition for learner drivers.
