Milwaukee, WI -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/31/2016 -- The prestigious 6th Annual Atlanta Women's T20 Cricket Tournament is all set to start on May 28th May 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. This two day cricket tournament is organized annually by Georgia Women Cricket Association and attracts top women cricketers from not only around the United States but also from around the world.

This year, 2016, marks the 6th consecutive year of the tournament with four Women cricket teams - Atlanta Pearls Cricket Club, Atlantis Women's Cricket Team, Lady Strikers and Starlet Women Cricket Club. The Atlanta Pearls Cricket Club will feature International West Indian Women's Cricket celebrities Haley Matthews and Shaquana Quintyne. Roger Dill, a member of ICC umpires panel since 2006, will be the Match Referee for the tournament.

GWCA has partnered with CricClubs to bring the next generation information and scoring technology for this year's tournament. The tournament portal is available on CricClubs with all the teams, schedules, umpires, match rules setup. The tournament league matches start on May 28th 2016 at 8:30AM at the Best Academy grounds with rest of the matches on May 28th and May 29th in the grounds at Best Academy and Mark Trail. The final is expected to occur on May 29th 2016 at 3:00PM at Best Academy grounds.

The tournament portal and the live scores of all the matches can be accessed via GWCA portal on CricClubs league management solution at http://cricclubs.com/gwca. Periodic news and match updates will be shared by CricClubs via social media sources such as Facebook on both CricClubs and GWCA facebook pages.

The day started off with Introduction by Mr. Mike Haysman followed by Mr. David Richardson speech that included background information on USACA's suspension and the current state of affairs with Cricket in USA. Mr. David Richardson also announced the names of ICC's advisory group that will develop and execute the strategy for cricket development in USA. The advisory group has the right mix of people to make it a very successful team– One representative from each of the following groups - Former USA Cricketers, US Cricket organizing bodies, Youth Cricket Development organizers, Business Developers, Leaders from other sports such as Rugby, US Olympic Committee, property consultants and members from ICC Americas and ICC Global.

It was very interesting to learn from ICC Americas Regional Manager Mr. Ben K about the journey of Soccer in the US and its parallels to the current state of affairs with Cricket in USA. It's amazing to learn how USA was able to put a great international Soccer team by executing US Soccer development strategy. Same was the case with the growth of Rugby in the USA.

It is pretty clear that the right focus and a great strategy that takes various aspects into consideration can propel Cricket in the US to the international platform. It is also amply clear from Mr. Dan's presentation that Technology and Social media are going to play a major role in the development of Cricket. CricClubs cannot agree more with that assessment.

There was a great panel discussion followed by open question and answer session. Both these sessions generated a lot of very good debate and discussion between the Cricket stakeholders and ICC.

All in all, it was a great gathering with a room full of passionate people with one and only one objective – to see US as a Cricket playing nation. One thing was absolutely clear yesterday – Cricket in US is poised for growth and ICC is more determined than ever before to develop Cricket in USA.
