Netcom PaySystem Announces Non-Profit Merchant Account Rebate Program

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/28/2016 -- Netcom PaySystem, a well-known provider in the merchant payment service industry, recently unveiled their latest Non –Profit Rebate Program that gives organizations the ability to accept payments at a reduced rate according to their industry specific SIC coding. In addition to saving up to 20% on daily processing fees, Netcom PaySystem will rebate 5% of the monthly residuals back to the non-profit.

Netcom PaySystem understands that running a non-profit is different from running other types of businesses—but there are some aspects that are much of the same. Just like many other merchants, a non-profit organization can benefit greatly by having a modern POS system that can accept payments, track donations, and pinpoint most loyal supporters. Or, may require a card-not-present specialty processing based on how and how much donors give.

These days, and with crowd-sourcing everywhere, there are new non- profits emerging all the time. It is important to make sure that the non-profit organization continues to grow over the coming years by selecting a non-profit merchant account provider that supports their marketing efforts and growth goals.

Continual marketing to drive fresh support and maintain current donors is important for any non-profit to stand apart from the other non-profits, people might choose to support. So it is vital to choose a non-profit payment processing solution that will complement organization's marketing efforts. From payments acceptance and specialized reporting, to communication with donors, a specially designed non-profit credit card processing system can help bring in more supporters and drive donor loyalty.

Features worth having in non-profit payment processing system.

When choosing a non-profit credit card processing solution, here are a few things to look for:

- Integrated payments
- Easily customizable to your specific needs
- Specialized functionality, just for non-profits
- On-demand, detailed reporting capabilities
- Promotional functionality that drives support such as custom donor communications

By partnering with Netcom PaySystem for non-profit credit card processing;there won't be any surprises. In fact, smarter, faster, easier payment processing is already built into the most popular POS systems for non-profits today.

Netcom PaySystem Shares Some Useful Tips to Help Merchants Avoid Fraud This 2016

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/26/2016 -- Mobile transactions are getting more and more popular each day. It all started with Apple´s revolutionary invention: Apple Pay. Since then, the number of mobile and online payment providers has started to increase without limits. This may seem like a completely harmless situation but in fact, these new and fancy methods have brought a significant amount of cyber criminals who commit fraud every single day.

Because mobile payments are a relatively new trend, security against online thefts and fraud is not so trustable. There´s still a lot of improvement left when it comes to online security, especially in the field of mobile payments. Cyber criminals know this and they are taking advantage of it. To help avoid being deceived by these criminals, Netcom PaySystem has presented some of the best tips and recommendations a merchant can follow to help prevent fraud from happening.

Employees are also allies

It is very important to train employees to look out for red flags when a purchase is being completed. They may not be experts on the matter, but they should at least know how to verify if a credit card is completely legit or not. They should verify that the address verification is correct and that the CVV code is a match. Needless to say, they have to ask for the customer´s ID in order to verify that the card belongs to them.

Online purchases are riskier

How can anyone be certain that someone is a criminal if their ID is not present or confirm that every single piece of data is a match? If a business supports online transactions, it is defiantly a good idea to keep an eye on the online transactions in case of any irregularities.

Don´t keep sensitive information

Even if a merchant has the greatest security system against mobile or online theft, it will never be perfect. This means that the information that is currently stored could potentially be breached. For this reason, merchants should never keep credit card numbers stored.

Prevent disasters

Even if a merchant feels like their customers will never try to commit fraud, they should still keep track of every single purchase that takes place. Information like the date, time, information of the customer and the employees involved should always be stored and remembered in case there are any issues. It may seem kind of tedious at first. However, this data will be of great help in case of information breach.

Solve it

If a merchant's security has been breached in one way or another, act fast and quickly determine the cause. If a merchant managed to keep track of every single purchase and transaction this task will be fairly easy. It is always important to remember, faster reaction will make it easier to determine the cause of the breach and solve it.

Netcom PaySystem Explains What EMV Provides to the World of Transactions

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/26/2016 -- Many retailers from all around the globe consider EMV as the Holy Grail which will completely protect them from fraud. Nevertheless, this is far from being true. The truth is, there is actually no way to be completely protected from fraudulent transactions. Unfortunately, criminals will always find a way to deceive the security means retailers provide and use. However, it is worth to stress that EMV is a great step in preventing fraud. For this reason, countless stores and businesses have decided to incorporate EMV in their facilities. However, retailers who use this relatively new system should not lose guard against cyber criminals.

One of the main reasons why EMV was designed was for purpose of controlling the amount of fraudulent transactions. EMV helps to assure a better and safer authentication with credit transactions. Gone are the days in which customers had to pass the magnetic strip of their cards to complete a transaction. Instead, consumers can just insert their credit or debit cards into an EMV terminal and finalize the purchase by inserting their security pin. This revolutionary system includes encrypted data which is embedded into the card to decrease the chances of them being duplicated. This is definitely good news for both customers and retailers, who are afraid of losing a great amount of money due to fraud.

However, it is always important to bear in mind that criminals will always find a way to steal. Sure, they can´t deceive the new EMV systems. That´s exactly why most cyber criminals will move to online transactions. By the time EMV systems are being used in every single store in the world, cyber burglars will have already moved to the internet to continue with their fraudulent transactions. The only thing retailers can do to prevent fraud is to be more aware of online transactions. Nowadays they are the real danger.

With all this in mind, it is safe to say that EMV is a giant step in the race for mobile and online security. Sure, it does not provide full security against fraud but it is a big help for retailers and customers who want to void fraud at all costs.

Businesses which support online transaction should keep an eye on their platforms. Given that it will be harder to commit fraud with EMV, cyber criminals will move to other fields. Online transactions will surely be the house to many fraudulent transactions in the near future.

Samsung Has Decided to Release Samsung Pay for Older Phone Models

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/02/2016 -- Mobile payments have become more and more popular each year. The trend started when Apple decided to introduced the first mobile wallet app, Apple pay. Since then, all the dominant companies in the mobile industry have introduced a way to pay using a phone. Just as other manufacturers, Samsung limits this feature to the most advanced and latest models of phones. Nevertheless, Samsung is planning to change this situation.

When Samsung Pay was first launched in South Korea, it was only available for the latest Samsung models. This being said,a customer were only able to use Samsung Pay with models such as the Galaxy Note 5 or the Galaxy S6 Edge. This resulted in being pretty inconvenient for Samsung users, as most some people were not willing to buy those giant phones in order to be able to pay with their phones. For said reason, Samsung has decided to release Samsung Pay for older phone models as well. Samsung has yet to reveal which phones will be able to adapt this feature.

This is definitely a huge leap when compared to Apple Pay. Reason being, is because Apple only provides this feature for users with the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s. Another addition Samsung Pay is planning to introduce, is the ability to use this function in a wider range of countries. This certainly is a huge improvement considering the immense amount of Samsung users outside of the US who want to use Samsung Pay but can´t because of location.

This is definitely something that Apple needs to do, as only a handful of people in the world are able to use Apple pay. Even so, Samsung would still have a slight advantage over Apple. The reason behind this lies on the fact that Samsung Pay does not require the use of Near Field Communication to process payments. This means it enables users to pay for transactions with most point of sale systems out there.

It is pretty obvious that in the following years almost every phone in the market will enable users to pay using their phones. It is predicted that this function will not only be available in the US, but more used globally as well. It is pretty evident that mobile transactions are still in their most primitive stage and still need much improvement. Nevertheless, companies are focusing a lot on improving their systems, so it is likely to see them functioning perfectly in a couple of years.

Netcom PaySystem Launches Best Strategies to Minimize the Risk of Fraud

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/02/2016 -- With the rapid advancements in technology and the increasing ease to purchase products online, fraudulent transactions have drastically risen in the past years. In fact, last year alone there was an increase of 30% in retail fraud attempts. With identity theft on the rise, it is necessary that both merchants and consumers always stay alert.

Change credit card

If there has ever been an information breach with any of the credit or debit cards that a person has, it is very important to change them immediately. Many people give no importance to this kind of issues and end up keeping old cards once the financial institution has solved the breach problem. Nevertheless, this doesn`t assure a card won`t be breached again. It is better to change it immediately.

When getting a new debit or credit card, it is always best to get one with a chip to help prevent future fraudulent operations and information theft. Merchants that accept EMV chip-equipped credit cards have managed to drastically reduce the amount of fraudulent transactions.

Using a smartphone

While it`s true that technology has made online theft easier for hackers, it has also provided new ways for cardholders to protect their information and their money. Most financial institutions will provide their users with mobile applications to track their card`s activity. With them, a cardholder will be notified whenever a card is being used. Moreover, cardholders can see current balance right from the mobile app as well. These applications allow to make safe online transactions with other merchants. An interesting feature, which was added not so long ago, allows users to restrict their card`s usage to a certain geographic area. This way a cardholder can make sure no one outside the boundaries that were established will be able to make fraudulent transactions with that credit card. Using all these benefits that financial institutions provide will help to protect users from fraudulent activities.

Regardless of the situation,it is always best to be careful when purchasing or selling products online. Never share credit card number or passwords.

Netcom PaySystem Unveils What to Look for when It Comes to Fraudulent Transactions and Protecting an Online Business

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/02/2016 -- People today live in a consumerist society. What does this mean? That sales around the world don´t decrease after Christmas, that´s just a busted myth. For that reason, fraudulent transactions can appear at any time of the year, affecting businesses from all around the world. In fact, a recent study has shown that retail fraud attempts have increased by 30% in the last year. This is definitely a red flag for merchants who aren't particularly knowledgeable about online security.

What to look out for

The most common pattern of a fraudulent activity, is when numerous accounts get created from same IP address. Moreover, checking the age registered by the suspicious customer might also be effective way to prevent fraud. A study has shown that people who register with an age ranging from 85-90 are usually lying. Being completely objective, it`s not likely that a person with that age is buying merchandise online. It`s not that it will never happen, it is possible, but not likely.

In addition, being careful with the billing address of online shoppers is also recommended. In the United States, Alaska is the place with the most users committing fraudulent transactions online.

How to protect an online business

There are several ways to protect an online business from hackers and fraudulent users. Most of them are pretty easy to set up and don`t require a vast amount of knowledge or investment.

1. Get a good antivirus. Once registering for an antivirus, it is important to set it up for it to update its software automatically. This way, the computer will systematically search for patches and spyware.

2. Data encryption. Having an encryption software, will ensure that customer information will always be safe. Popular credit card providers like Visa or MasterCard demand online merchants to use data encryption in every transaction to protect customers who pay with credit cards online.

3. Always update your computer`s software. It might be kind of annoying to always update to the latest OS. Nevertheless, the newest version always comes with crucial updates that fix some vulnerabilities.

4. Be careful with hyperlinks. Before following a link verify that it is from a trustable source. Scammers often use this method to commit fraud while shopping online.

5. Always delete your history. Make sure cookies are deleted when erasing browser`s history. Cookies usually store some information like passwords or usernames in certain pages. To avoid this, always get rid of them when deleting browsing history.

All in all, there is no such thing as being 100% safe from being tricked by hackers or spammers. However, it does help to prevent potential thefts by having the appropriate software to protect both personal computer and online customer's information.

What the Future Holds for Samsung Pay and Its Plans of Expansion in 2016

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/29/2016 -- Mobile payments have become more and more popular each year.

Mobile Shoppers Are at Risk of Fraud but Not Due to EMV

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/24/2015 -- According to a recent study, consumers are now embracing the use of mobile devices to do their online purchases. And it seems like unscrupulous people are already looking for ways to exploit the convenience of mobile channels, aside from their usual targets that include one-click check-out merchant services and digital gift cards.

It was estimated that around half of the total online transactions during Black Friday sales were made through tablets and mobile phones. And moving forward, there will be a significant increase in the number of consumers who prefer using their mobile devices to pay for the products and services this holiday season.

As the e-commerce volumes increase, the number of fraud cases will also go up. While phishing and credit card fraud will happen, there will be new types of attacks that will exploit the relatively new digital technology. The good news is that EMV-chip payment cards will be safe from fraud, which is contrary to some reports.

There are people who have forecasted that counterfeit card fraud will migrate from the POS terminal to online due to the shift of standard card reader to EMV. But according to industry experts, it is unlikely to happen during the upcoming holiday season. There are still only a fraction of merchants that adopted the system, and most consumers still don't have EMV cards from their credit card processor.

The bigger risks for online merchants is the increasing number of streamlined mobile checkout methods, as well as buy buttons that are built into email and social media accounts. These platforms allow consumers to buy a product on their mobile devices without leaving them.

Merchants are trying to simplify the process through streamlined checkout and purchase buttons because of the shift by the consumers to mobile devices. But more often than not, they are sacrificing the security of their checkout process.

Desktop online websites have several layers of security controls, but mobile versions often have weaker and fewer methods to authenticate the identity of consumers. Mobile devices are still trying to beef up their protection, and there will be more security control in the future in the form of biometrics and other authentication processes for mobile e-commerce.

Other new forms of online frauds that victimize merchant services are online merchandise delivery and digital gift cards. According to statistics, downloadable gift cards account for 9.5 percent of attempted online fraud last year. It was followed by online purchases with next-day delivery with 6.5 percent.

Downloadable gift cards have become popular among millennials, and that's why there are being targeted by fraudsters. Small and midsize companies that offer digital gift cards have a high risk of fraud. Larger companies often have stronger security processes to protect their merchant services.

In case you haven't heard our announcement last month, Netcom PaySystem now offers many payment solutions that incorporate EMV payment capability. This means that merchants will now have devices they need to be EMV capable – delivering the latest in fraud prevention technology. If you're ready, so are we!

Apple Pay Is Set to Debut in China

Roswell, GA -- (SBWIRE) -- 12/07/2015 -- Apple mobile payments and digital wallet service Apple Pay, was off to a great start this year, according to chief executive Tim Cook. But now that year is almost at an end, the projections are looking better than expected. ShopKeep's most recent survey of its 20,000 merchant clients shows that about 26% of respondents had accepted an Apple Pay transaction by the end of September, compared to 2.5% in February. However, the company is only looking at this as a small step in the right direction as it still has much growth to do in the mobile payments space. A survey conducted in the mid of 2015, by Pymnts.com and InfoScout found that only 15% of consumers who were eligible to use Apple Pay had tried to actually use it, which was projected to roughly 3 million -3.6 million people in the U.S, or about 1% of the population.

"The transactions running through Apple Pay are in a month over month growth rate of about 58%, and this is not just from a small base," ShopKeep CEO Norm Merritt has stated. "We have seen a really dramatic increase in the usage of Apple Pay."

Last week, Apple has also announced its plans to lunch Apple Pay in second largest market, China in early 2016. Apple Pay was introduced to Europe and Australia earlier this year. Entry into Chinese market is never easy for any company, however in case of Apple 30% of its sales are already coming from China. The company has also reported that it apparently partnered with China's largest state-run banks, though details of partnership are not yet available. However it's fair to assume that Apple Pay stands a good chance of succeeding in China.
