The record label was formed when brothers, Ashutosh Upadhyay and Anurag Upadhyay decided to work together on creating brilliant music that stemmed from love and not money. That's putting soul back into the music scene in the country that seems to have taken a backseat. The success of the debut single, Feel The Passion, from the label might just be able to turn things around, not only for the group but the music scene on the whole.

Upadhyay brothers who are at the helm of matters, believe in letting the music do the talking and do not like to waste energies on gimmicks. That is reflected in the debut single, which has caught on in a short span of time. According to them, the idea is to create beautiful music that expresses strength and freedom that resonates with listeners. Going by the response to the single, the two seem to have managed just that.

It's interesting to note that Purplehed is also the stage name for Ashutosh, who is the singer, writer, lyricist and composer for the label. The alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur believes in exploring diverse forms of music and dance art forms. Having dabbled in live performances, he took to music production by creating background scores for Anurag's dance musicals.

Anurag, a National Institute of Technology, Warangal alum has gained expertise in several contemporary dance forms and learned acting, film production. The two brothers took their time to understand the nuances of writing, composing before founding Purplehed on May 14, 2014. Their debut single, Feel The Passion was released on VEVO and MUZU on July 24, 2015 and won instant recognition.

And so has the label, which was recently featured in the Indie music magazine, Jamsphere. All the talk about the label has made its next single to be released in January 2016, a much awaited event. Purplehed is also stage name for Ashutosh (Founder of Purplehed) who is also Song-Writer/Lyricist/Singer/Composer. His idea behind establishing Purplehed is to explore diverse music and dance art forms with the aim of inspiring people. Ashutosh started his music journey with live performances and later explored music production by creating background scores for Anurag's dance musical productions.

Anurag (Co-Founder of Purplehed), on the other hand, went on to study contemporary dance on a full time basis. After adding several dance forms to his repertoire, he moved on to study acting, and even learnt film production. It took several years for the duo to understand the entire music/dance/film production process, and to build a team before Purplehed was conceived.
