Skilled Hong Kongers will have a unique opportunity to both develop their careers and help accelerate our recovery. This landmark initiative will strengthen our economy and deepen the strong ties between Canada and the people of Hong Kong."<br />

The policy will remain in effect until August 31, 2026. Hong Kong nationals who are currently in Canada with valid temporary resident status are encouraged to apply for permanent residence under one of the following two streams: <br />
<br />
Stream A – International graduates in Canada who have completed an eligible program of study at a Designated Learning Institution ("DLI") within the last 3 years and have completed at least 50% of the program of study (in person or online) while in Canada; and<br />
<br />
Stream B – Individuals who are in Canada and have at least 1 year of full-time work experience or the part-time equivalent within the last 3 years, and have completed an eligible post-secondary program within the last 5 years in or outside of Canada.<br />
<br />
In either stream, both students and workers in Canada must obtain a Canadian Language Benchmark ("CLB") 5 or higher on all 4 language proficiencies, in either English or French.<br />
<br />
In addition to the stream-specific requirements, to qualify under these new permanent residence pathways, applicants must also meet Canada&apos;s general admissibility requirements such as medical and criminality checks.<br />
<br />
To be granted Canadian permanent residency through these new streams, applicants must be physically present in Canada at the time of the application and at the time they receive permanent residence. They must also demonstrate their intent to live in any Canadian province or territory other than Quebec.<br />

Consequently, nurses looking at travel RN jobs can get hung up on how much RNs make and bypass good opportunities because they don&apos;t have all the information. There are some pretty frustrating myths rolling around about travel nursing that foster a mentality that travel nursing is all about the money.<br />

Read on to learn about these myths so that one will know exactly what they are getting into when they choose a travel nurse career.<br />
<br />
Low Pay Means It&apos;s Not Going to Be Worth It<br />
This one is unfortunately all too common, moreover, it&apos;s absolutely false. The hourly rate offered up in a travel nursing contract is contingent on several factors. One big factor is the cost of living for the city or town that ones contract is in. Not every city or town in the country has a sky-high cost of living such as good old New York City, and thank heavens for that! When they figure out their living expenses and housing reimbursement in a low cost of living state and compare it to their living expenses and housing in a high cost of living state they might sometimes find that there isn&apos;t as big of a difference in their take-home pay between the two as one originally thought.<br />

High Pay Means It&apos;ll Be Brutal<br />
Not necessarily. Yes, some crisis response contracts offer high pay and can be emotionally and physically daunting in return. However, that isn&apos;t always the case. As previously mentioned, cost of living also factors in for the pay scale. Also, sometimes locations that have had a hard time attracting travel nurses consequently offer higher compensation to lure nurses in. One will need more information about the contract than just the hourly rate.<br />

Sometimes rural travel nursing assignments fit this criterion, and I can tell a person looking into traveling nursing that if they want to broaden their perspective and knowledge as a nurse, a rural assignment is a must. Kim Obbink began her career as a brand and user interface designer in the early days of Microsoft in 1989 where she combined her creative and entrepreneurial skills to build her own multi-million dollar interactive design and online marketing agency in Seattle. After Obbink&apos;s agency was acquired by a large consulting firm she left her position as a partner there she moved on to join Filter Digital where she ultimately became the CEO. Marshall and Obbink crossed paths when Marshall found herself as an executive coach to Kim during her career at Filter Digital. Even after Obbink&apos;s eventual departure from her CEO position, the two stayed close and continued to exchange stories about what they saw wrong in the leaders they worked with and what they viewed as possible solutions for managers in any industry.<br />
